Hotel Umbra (Started)

Hotel Umbra--an isolated island resort where the rich and famous come to get away from their hectic public lives. With fine dining, dancing, one of the largest spas in the world, and other amenities, Hotel Umbra is the perfect place to relax. The island is completely private, the only access to the mainland being through chartered boats or airplanes.

Hotel Umbra is on a privately owned island in the Caribbean. It is run by Annie Marino, a young entrepreneur (NPC, unless someone wants to write for her). The hotel, a grand old building, sits just steps from the beach, and every room has a scenic view.

Every room in the hotel is a suite, with two bedrooms, a sitting area, an entertainment room (TV and such) and a full bathroom, complete with a jacuzzi. Some suites are bigger than others, but there are only a few of those.

Outside the hotel and spa, guests can use boats, jetskis, and other watercraft, go snorkeling or scuba diving, take hikes in the woods, go ziplining, hang gliding, skydiving, and parasailing. Guests with the proper licensing can also fly airplanes.

Inside the hotel are two restaurants, one casual and one elegant, a large dance hall (part of the fancier restaurant) and a nightclub. In addition, there is a large spa and relaxation center.

Not all is paradise at Hotel Umbra, though. Lately, Annie has gotten some odd guests, people her regular visitors are unfamiliar with. As distrust grows between vacationers, the situation becomes stranger and stranger. When they realize how isolated they truly are, guests begin to turn on each other. Can the vacationers rally together to save themselves, or will the hotel be plunged into chaos?

And, of course, there's always the threat of inclement weather...

Name Elena 'Ellie' Blakely

Appearance Ellie had light blonde hair and green eyes her hair is naturally curly, but she straightens it.. She has a light tan, but she is not very dark. She has a dimple in her left cheek and always wears a smile.' She wears sun dresses most o the time that hang just past her knee. If not she is wearing a skirt with a cute top.

Personality Ellie is insecure about a lot. Her appearance, smile, laugh. Which is odd because she is really pretty. She is really selfless and sweet. She is on who hates to see people upset and cannot stand to see people cry. She gets along with pretty much everyone, but cannot stand it when people complain. She is they kind of person that will get up and walk away if all you do is complain. She is also very stubborn. She does not like it when her parents give her everything. She likes to do somethings on her on. She is sensible and very passionate. She puts everything she has into what she is doing.

History She grew up with actors, singer, dancers all the people in the big time business. She was a really good singer, but wanted to have a life more than just show business. Her parents loved that, but some people did not. People called her a waste of good talent. They completely violated her personal space. She likes to sing, but not in front of people.

Reason For coming to this hotel: She wanted to get away from it all and wants the freedom to do things on her on.

Name: Violet "Viola" Murtaugh

Gender: Female

Appearance:

Violet is always simple-dressed and doesn't have too much make-up on. Just light lipstick to go in with. She hardly cares about what she wears, though she does have this like towards formal dresses. Violet stands at 5"8. She has glossy chocolate brown hair, which she mostly wears down. Being fair skinned, almost everything matches her and her dark milk chocolate brown eyes.

Personality: Violet is Violet. Just as you see in the picture, she is very down to Earth and does what she wants. Very kind, sweet and not easily offended by everything. Viola isn't the arguing type AT ALL, she pretty much hates violence. Very easy-going with friends, boys or girls, it doesn't matter to her. Violet is a great friend to be with, a shoulder to cry on and she'll always be there for you. She loves food which is kind of her weakness, so she doesn't care even if you give her the "stares". Great with meeting new people, and is most of the time active though not WILD. Has a great passion towards dancing and swimming.

History: Violet came from a millionaire family. All her life, she has been the "good-one" for her parents, always taking up on their advice and listening to what they say. Though her mom was really one of her role-model, taught her what was best in life, made Violet more attached to nature than ever. Her dad was a busy man, but often called her up to check she was okay so her parents completely trusted her. She has two siblings, all of those who are boys-- 15 year old, Tyler and 17 year old, Harry. When Violet turned 18, she told her parents what she wanted to do. Actually, do her studies in New York City, do her fashion studies there, become an independent citizen there. To this, her parents were devastated because they thought she was still doing her "baby-steps" and was too small to go alone. Violet who was determined, set her career off to N.Y. , to prove them wrong.

Reason for coming to the hotel: Just some time to relax and have fun, and not live her life through stress every time.

Name: Ferdinand Arias
Age: 22
Gender: Male
Appearance: Ferdinand is a little shorter than average, at five feet ten inches, with a slim but athletic build. He has dark hair, usually mussed, and dark brown eyes, which contrast greatly with his pale skin. He has a handsome face and a pleasant smile, but he usually doesn't draw attention to that. He likes to wear button-up shirts or polos, with khakis or dress pants.

Personality: Ferdinand is very smart, and he loves learning. He's a bookworm, and if there's a library around, that's usually where he can be found. He loves mysteries and problem-solving, and he has a thing for history (he just finished his undergrad degree in history at Oxford). His first language is Spanish, but he speaks five more (English, German, French, Italian, and Latin) and he's working on learning Russian. He's friendly and sociable, but he doesn't like talking about himself. He can be very secretive, and his spontaneous historical investigations can seem downright suspicious. He writes in a journal every night, which he keeps tucked away in his backpack.
History: Ferdinand came from one of the wealthiest families in Europe. His parents own a very successful company, which deals with banking, investing, and oil. They own giant estates in Madrid and Barcelona, and a summer home in England. He found his passion for history at an early age, and had a relatively easy time fulfilling it, as his parents were too busy to pay much attention to him. Ferdinand's parents expected him to follow in their footsteps, but he had his own plans. After getting into Oxford, he told his parents he was going to study business, but then majored in history instead. He just finished his degree, and in a final act of rebellion, decided that he would find a way to get rid of all the money he had been given.
Reason for coming to the hotel: Ferdinand hasn't taken a vacation since he started college. Also, he figured this would be a good way to blow all the money he had gotten from his parents.

Other: He carries a backpack with him everywhere he goes. Inside is his laptop, his journal, and whatever book he's reading.

Name: Mercedes Miami Reinders. Prefers to be called Rachel rather than Mercedes. Would like to be called 'Ray' by her friends, but alas has none ^^

Age: 16

Gender: Female

Appearance: She has light brown/red hair and bright green eyes. Her hieght is average. Her parents try to make her wear eye contacts to make her eyes blue, but she doesn't wear them. Instead of the designer clothes her parents want her to wear, she sticks with regular boot-cut jeans and old T-Shirts.

Personality: She's very shy around people she doesn't know and tends to sit in the corner and read a book or click around her laptop than socialize. She has been made fun of for years so she has very low self-confidence. She sees herself as ugly, stupid, and has no friends. The last part is true.
Despite her low self-confidence, she never tries to change herself and is naturally curious. She has been known to do things suck as climb hotel floors from the outside (not far, obviously ^^ She's not superman ^^), Hang from chandaliers, and sneak into rooms.
She's natural untrusting of people at first but isn't mean at all. Just Wary. She's a fast talker and if ever had friends would be fiercely loyal and do anything she can to help them. She loves to laugh but only does so around people she trusts. She writes fantasy stories but only shows them to people she trusts.
She has a kind heart and is naturally nice to other poeple. She'd be more outward with it if it wasn't for bullying. She's also prone to daydreaming.

History: Her family's fame and fortune spreads across many fields and industries. Thier reach is boundless and thier wallets are endless. But her parents love for their daughter is very lacking. They had a girl hoping to make her a social butterfly and something to brag to thier friends about but instead they got Rachel.
They tried to form her into the child they wanted but never got anywhere with her. Eventually they just gave up and sent her off to an all-girl boarding school and lied to their friends about their great and amazing daughter. Being naturally shy, she avoided the other kids in school but was still picked on for reading. It was harsh and relentless.
She thought if she ignored them they'd go away but they never did. It escalated over the years, even on occasion getting physical. She still has bruises from the last time.
Despite the bullying, her love for fantasy grew and she aspires to be a writer some day.

Reason for coming to the hotel: Her parents sent her here to be rid of her for the summer (if it isn't summer in the storybook, then it's cause they forgot her there ^^'')

Gender: Female
Appearance: Lucy is 5'2". She has long-to-the-hip bright red hair (it's dyed. Natural hair color is brown) that's her hair. Small blue eyes. High cheek bones and small nose. Her skin tone is pale. She's only a little bit built, she works out a lot. She's a casual dresser but likes to look great, so she tries her best to be comfy and stylish at the same time. Wears jeans, sweat pants. dresses. Her favorite thing to wear is her royal blue hoodie.

Personality: Lucy Harold is a very pessimistic person. She gets into fights easily and is hot-headed. She's hard to be friends with. She is not open and tends to not trust anyone. When she gets friends she keeps her distance from them so they won't know her very well. She is a happy person though, loves to crack jokes and laugh. Once you get to know her, she's a different person, well not so much different, but more let-loose.

History: Her father is a famous movie producer, Steven Harold. He's made many movies that were huge hits. She's only known as his daughter. Her mother and older brother live in their hometown while Lucy is traveling with dad. She wants to become an actress. Her father has been the cheating type and that has affected the family badly, Lucy doesn't trust him anymore but won't show it. They've been through rough patches.

Reason for coming to the hotel: Steven Harold is recording a movie near the area.

Age: 21
Gender: Female
Appearance: Jade is on the short side, at about five feet four inches, and has a slight build. She has pale skin and light blue eyes. Her hair is naturally brown, but she dyes it blonde, and keeps it in a spiky bob. She wears designer clothes, usually skirts or dresses, and never wears the same shoes twice in a row.

Personality: Jade is a social butterfly. She loves meeting new people, and she knows how to work a room. She's very easy to talk to, and is good at making friends. She's used to being popular, but she's not snobby about it, and goes out of her way to hang out with everyone. She likes doing volunteer work, and she'll often donate to charities. Most of the time, she's able to keep her nice girl persona, but occasionally, her temper will show. She's a little hot-headed, and she can be argumentative. She tries to suppress any selfishness, but she doesn't always succeed.
History: Jade grew up with a silver spoon in her mouth. Her mother is a surgeon, and her father owns a large pharmaceutical company. Her parents spoiled her with material gifts, but they were also able to teach her the value of giving and making others happy. The family usually takes an annual vacation to the hotel, but because of scheduling issues, Jade's parents weren't able to come, and sent her on her own.

Lynn is beautiful young girl, with big brown eyes. Before she became a legal adult, her hair was her natural brown, but after her parents couldn't tell her what to do anymore--she died her hair in a rainbow of colors. She's about 5'4 and she has a rail thin body from her battles with anorexia when she was a child. She's paler than most people, but her complexion is flawless. She has big brown eyes that are so warm and welcoming, it's a bit of a shock when you see how stand-offish she really is. Her hair is always in a fishbone braid down her back--and she LOVES to try out different braids on her hair. Her thing is interesting braids.

Personality:
Lynn is very closed and private. She doesn't like to open to people. Underneath the stand-offish she's very sweet. She cares about people, and some say she's stand-offish because she's been hurt before. Once you worm your way through her barriers though, she'll do anything for you. As quiet as she is, if you make fun of her--she can turn into a little spit fire. Though she's very sweet and caring-- becauase she hardly ever opens up to people, people often don't know what a battle she wages inside her own head. She still suffers from depression, and if you read some of her poetry--something few have done-- you'll see that. But it takes a lot for her to get you to tell her about how sad she is inside.

She's also a bit of a rebel. She was oppressed as a child, forced into a stereo type she didn't fit into too. As soon as she turned 18, she forced her parents to give her money and basically ran away from home to this place.

History (brief):
Lynn grew up with a millionaire father and brain surgeon mother. She was forced to be exactly what she wasn't. The poor little rich girl. When she was twelve, she had battles with anorexia and depression, and is still battling both. During her depression--she pushed all her friends away, so she's basically all alone.
