"Today we'll be taking in your physical measurements and a few basic tests. As we go upstairs, there will be eight stations: height, weight, hip and waist, abdomen, chest, hand strength, heart rate and jump height measurements. All of which will be used to calculate each individual student's fitness level," Coach yells.
Oh... wonderful. Things that don't necessarily require any physical--
"Following this, we will continue on to the bleep test out on the field."
D*mmit. Spoke too soon. Ah well. I can run....for the most part.
I follow the class up to the second level and file into the room, wanting to get this over with as quick as possible. Uncomfortable with everyone around while I measure myself, I face the wall and block everything out. As always, fairly average results are marked on my paper until I get to the blood pressure test.
28.
I make nothing of it--unlike the person who performed the test, who has me go through it once more.
"I run low," I inform them. Really low.
They shake their head and shoo me off to wait for the bleep test with a few others who have completed the rest. I find the guy who sat across from me during roll call, the one who ran in late, on the other side of the room nearly finished and then spot the kid who'd snapped at me in the locker room in the group I was in. Sighing, I look away from everyone and wait for the coach to move us onward.
