City by the Sea

Natalie

"Ah, so your the one Lord Poseidon sent to deal with Fang. Trust me, Fang's out of your league trust me." I said.

She turns to look at me with an abviously annoyed look on her face..

"I had her on the ropes until you came!" She yelled.

"She was going easy, shes a good fighter and she was out of energy from having to defend the whirlpool." I restorted.

Ada

I tighten my jaw and bite my tongue, taking a deep breath to calm myself, "You know me. Who, might I ask, are you?"

Mark

I sigh and hang up, trying to think of what to do as I walk back out to Selena, "Do you want a new car?"

Oliver

I open my eyes once she's left the room and shake my head, standing and heading downstairs. I find my briefcase cracked into and all of the files in a pile on the floor, Char in the middle.

"You've got to be kidding me," I say, remaining expressionless, "You up to speed now, or do you need to search through my luggage too?"

Char

"I told you nothing was going to stand in my way. Not even your, well what use to be your breifcase." I say laughing. "There is a new one in my closet. I am caught up to speed. These guys are good. They have done some pretty horrible things, but they have been really good at covering up there tracks. They do not put anything in their own name, keep away from cameras and move around a lot." I say getting up and handing him a file.

"Most of Selena's get aways are on her motorcycle. Now that motorcycle has been seen on traffic came across the country at motels, so I'm guessing they are staying at one now. They also go to local bars a lot. I am working. on getting information about motels and such." I pick up the files off the floor and place them on the counter. "I am really glad you took a nap, because you were not in my way and i could do thing the right way. By myself." I snap at him

Selena

I smile wide, "I would love a new car," I close my eyes for a second.

Natalie

"I'm Natalie Claw, sister to Jericho Claw. The master of the Sky Dragon Bahamut." I said.

"We are feared oppponets far and near, those who seek death only challenge us to battle for our legendary creatures." I add.

Ada

I nod and look back out to the ocean, suppressing wise remarks, "I suppose a thanks is in order. Though I had her, I am grateful for your help."

I flash a smile and shake my head at her, sitting at the edge of the bed, "Lance got you one."

Oliver

I study her before crossing my arms, "First, I read the files front and back already. Your debriefing was unnecessary. Second, if doing things the right way means behaving like a thief then I believe you're no better than the ones we're after. Congratulations."

Char

I nod, trying to figure this guy out while doing so. “Okay mom, thanks for your lecture. Oh and I knew you already read the information.” I say.

He looks at me a little confused.

“You asked me if I was up to speed. You would not ask me that if you have not already read it. Plus most agents read the files before or during the processes of getting her. I did not have that luxury because all the files were given to you.” I say to him.

By the way he crosses his arms I can tell I just might have gotten under his skin. I raise my eyebrows at him and wait for a response.

Selena

"Really?" I sit up, "What kind?"

Natalie

"At least I'm appretaited for my help is all I ask, listen mind me hanging around. I get quiet bored when I'm not on a job." I said.

Ada

"Uh, sure," I say, standing, "Like a tour?"

I think, finding a way to get on Lance's nerves for making me do this, "A Lamborghini."

Oliver

I narrow my eyes at her and cross my arms, "Listen, girly, you're in for a wake up call if you don't realize now that I do things my way. You may not like it, but that's how things are going to get done. I've never lost a partner. You have. Do the math."

Char

It feels like someone punched me in the gut, because all air escapes from my lungs. I inhale deeply, but try not to make it noticeable. I have done everything in my power to get that memory out of my head, but now I can not get the last moment of seeing my last partner out of my head.

We were in the car going to the location of the killer. When we got to the house, Grant and I approached the door. I was turned away, guarding him, while he was picking the lock. He opened it up and a bomb when off. Somehow he managed to cover me from harm. I can still feel his heart beat on my back and the last breath he took, blowing across my ear.

He died protecting me. Everyone thinks I left him, that I was the reason. Only Charles know what happened. I was only able to tell have the story, not wanting to relive the moment anymore than I had to.

I can feel my knees begin to shake and my head begin to feel light. “Sorry.” I manage to spit out.

Selena

I study him, "You're lying. I know that face," I plop back down and keep flipping through money.

Natalie

I nod, "Sure, I don't exactly know this place so any help in getting around will be nice." I said.

Ada

I nod and lead her down the length of the beach, "It's a fairly small town, definitely not qualifying for city status, but we're pretty popular because of the beach. So we have a lot of tourists and stuff. The locals are nice though. Most of them. There are a few you should stay away from. And for the sanity, you shouldn't say exactly who you are either. The mist isn't so thick around here, but humans are still not to know about immortals of any kind."

I sit beside her and sigh, "He said he'd buy you one."

Oliver

I watch the pain in her expression and feel a little bad, knowing I only brought up her partner because I didn't have anything else on her. Sighing, I crouch before her and look her in the eyes.

"We can do this the easy way," I whisper, "Or the hard way. I personally would not want struggle. I'm not that hard to deal with, so I'm told, and I figure you kind of are. We just have to work together, and then this whole thing is over. Alright?"

Char

“I was not always this hard to work with, at least I do not think I was.” I say to myself. I snap back to reality and look at him. I try to regain myself. “Yeah, whatever. Lets just get it over with, so I do not have to deal with this any more.” I say getting up and move away from him.
