Chris
I had been invited to Avery's party, but I was hesitant to go. I didn't have homework or work, but I always felt bad about going out when I could be helping my mom. She insisted that I go though.
"Christopher, you spent almost your entire summer either working or helping out at home," she said sternly. "Go to that party. You deserve it."
"Are you sure?" I asked. She looked tired.
"Yes! I have the day off, so I'll watch Emily and Gramps tonight."
I sighed. "Alright. I'll go."
"Good!" she rolled her eyes. "I never thought I'd have to beg you to go to a party."
I couldn't help but laugh. I quickly changed and headed out the door, directions in hand. Conveniently, she was only a couple minutes away. Her house was easy to spot; cars crowded the driveway and lined the street.
"'Eyyyyy Gills!" my swim buddy Brandon shouted when I walked through the door. "How's it goin'? Grab a drink dude!"
Turning to a table with all kinds of liquor and nonalcoholic drinks alike, he mixed a couple together before handing it to me. I take a small sip, shuddering at the bitter taste and how strong it was. I'd drank beer a couple times and some champagne at my aunt's wedding, but I'd never had anything this strong.
"Dude, what's in this?" I asked, already feeling it effect me.
He shrugged. "Some vodka, rum, and a couple mixers, I dunno. It's a Tornado."
I took another small sip, feeling it warm my throat as it went down but nearly gagging from the smell and taste. I wasn't much of a drinker. A frazzled looking Will walked over to me, looking a bit nervous.
"Hey Chris, have you seen Ave?"
I shook my head. "I just got here. This is her party isn't it? Shouldn't she be partying with us?"
He nodded, looking a little confused. "She said she wanted to see me, but I don't know where she is."
