Lena gave me serious butterflies, something I hadn't felt in a long time. She wasn't the type of girl I'd usually go after, but maybe that was a good thing. I still didn't know about Josie though, which made me almost feel guilty. We started to leave the restaurant, but I pulled Will back after he kissed Avery goodbye to talk to him again.
"I just don't know what to do, dude," I groaned, ready to tear my hair out. "They're both great and they're both friends!"
"Slow down a second Chris," he said calmly. "You don't even know if they feel the same way."
I took a deep breath. "That's true. But do you mind talking to Avery about Lena for me? Just to find out what she thinks of me?"
"Of course," he nodded. "And just take it slow. No need to rush. Get to know both of them and you'll know what to do."
"Thanks man. I'll see you later," I said, hopping in my car.
When I got to first period, people were already crowding me at the front door, asking questions and looking concerned.
"I'm fine, guys. Really. A friend took care of me and it's all good," I said, flashing a cocky grin.
Josie waved at me from her desk. "I'm glad you're okay," she said, before punching me hard in the arm. "But that's for scaring me to death!"
I laughed and rubbed my arm. She could throw a good punch. "I'm sorry, I'm sorry. I'm not usually that much of an idiot."
"As long as you're okay, that's all that matters."
I nodded. "Avery had me stay at her place overnight."
"I figured," she said. "She's a good friend."
"Yeah. She and Will and Lena and I used to get into all kinds of trouble bak in middle school..." I started to babble before I realised that she probably wouldn't be interested in that.
"Lena told me," she smiled, making her eyes light up. "I wish I could've been a part of your group. Sounds like you guys had fun."
"Definitely." I felt my phone vibrate in my pocket. Lena had texted me, asking me if I wanted to go out to lunch with her. Get to know them both, Will's words echoed in my mind.
