I heard Carly get out of the shower when her phone rang. "Ms. Bridget? Whats wrong?!"

I don't know what the reply is, but she drops her phone and barrels down the stairs. I get up and go into the hallway. I pick up the phone and answer. "Who is this?"

"Hello?" a woman on the other end answers. "Who's this?"

"A friend of Carly's, and you are?"

"Matt's mother. He's in the hospital." she sobbed.

Crap. I tell Matt's mother i'm on the way with Carly and head off.

********
I'm driving around looking for her when I spot her. I pull over and roll down the window. "Carly, get in."

"No!" she shouts. "This is all your fault!"

"Bull shit it's my fault." I glare. "If you'd listened to me in the first place and had been smart about it, this wouldn't have happened."

"I was trying to protect Matt!" she said.

"People like Drake don't keep their word." I shake my head. "And once you give a person like that something they want, they want more. Now get in the car."

"Why should I?" she asks.

"Because, it's obvious you've been running, and by the time you get to the hospital you'll probably be laying in one of those beds for over exhaustion." I sigh.

She stops for a moment, then head for the passenger door.

***********

We walk up to the front desk where Matt's mom is waiting for us. She takes us up to his room.

"The doctor told me who ever attacked him missed any vital organs, so he would be fine." she wipes a tear from her eye and takes a seat beside him. "Who would do something like this?"

"Someone who's had a taste of something they want and is getting greedy about it." I look at Carly.

She walks out of the room. I follow her. "Where are you going?"

"To make things better!" she wipes tears from her eyes.

"Make what better?" I ask incredulously. "Things with Drake? Are you stupid?"

"He wouldn't be there if you hadn't-"

I pushed her up against the wall and got in her face. "If I hadn't what?"

She takes a deep breath before and answering. "If you hadn't shown up and ruined thing."

I nod and step away. I keep my cool and take a few deep breaths. Out of habit, I begin pacing. "So, if I hand't interfered, Matt wouldn't be in the hospital? Is that what you're saying?"

She nods.

"Mhm." I nod and look at her. "Tell me. What's Matt going to say when you tell him what you did? Because it seems like you weren't thinking about him at all when you walked up Drake's front porch."

She opened her mouth to speak, but no words came out. I continued. "What exactly do you think Matt is going to do when he finds out what you did? What do you think he's going to say? Because if you'd told him what happened and told him what Drake wanted from you, Matt wouldn't be in the hospital. How do you think he's going to feel? This is going to destroy him."

"I was only trying to protect him." she says softly.

"Then you should've told him what happened!" I snapped. "Do you realize that by doing this, you've hurt Matt, Matt's mom, Me, Lini, and everyone else who cares about you?"

The answer showed on her face. "No."

"I made that same mistake when I was about your, or a little bit younger, and i'm trying to pick up the pieces." I wrap my arms around myself.

"What happened to you?" her eyes went wide. "Who hurt you?"

I look at her for a long moment and say, "I'm going for to walk around for a bit. 'I''ll be back in a little."

Before she can say anything, I disappear around a corner.

After some arguing with Luna, I let her drive me there. When we get there, Ms Bridget takes us up to his room. Drake missed any vital organs, so he'll be fine, but he's sttill not awake. Luna and I exit the room and end up arguing some more. I can't believe she would yell at me for trying to keep Matt safe. This is her fault! But, then again, maybe it's not. Luna tried to stop me from giving myself over to the hell that is Drake, but I only did that to stop thissort of thing from happening. When Matt hears what happened, he probably will never want to look at me again. I'm dispicable! I let the tears fall as Luna walks away. Ms Bridget comes out and tells me that Matt just woke up, and he's asking for me. I take a deep breath, wipe my tears, and walk in the door.

He pops up as I walk in. "Hey!" he says weakly. His excitment turns to concern as I sit beside him. "What happened to you!? You're all cut up!" "Welll.... " I trail off. "And why, when I was stabbed, was I told to tell 'my bitch' that she was warned, is still 'his whore,' and that 'her little friend cant protect her forever?'" I look at the floor as the tears swell up in my eyes. "that guy was Drake. While you were at the dentist today a lot happened. I was in creative writing class and they told us it was drakemontgomery. And he came and sat in your seat. After class he asked me to show him around. He pulled me into one of the hidden stairwells and..." He looks at me. "and what!?". "And he. He. He raped me. Then at lunch he gave me his address andsaid if I didnt go at eight tonight or ifI told anyone, that he would hurt you. So I went, and he did it again. And Luna, Lena, and Lini all came in, but he snuk usout the back and shoved me in his car. We drove off and Luna sent us into a tree, which explains the cuts. And when Drake got away he must havewent after you. " I watch as my tears hit the floor and wait for him to say something.

I wake up in the hospital with my mother, weeping, sitting beside me grasping my hand. I feel weak as anything. I look at her. "It's okay mom." I assure her She jumps at the sound of my voice. "Matt! You're okay!" She leaps from her chair. "Carly?" I ask, wondering if she knows. My mom nods and leaves to get her. Slowly the door opens and Carly walks in looking a little shaken up. Its good to see her. Thinking back to what my attacker said, I thought for sure he would go after her. Butas she gets nearer I notice that she's all cut up. I askher about it, but when she fails to answer, I ask if she kniws what that guy meant. I assume he meant Carly when he referred to my "bitch." Finallu she tells me everything. Every last little horrifying detail. I dont know howto respond. Myemotions are a little mixed. Im angry hedid this toher, glad that Luna protectedher, touchdd thatshe triedto keep me safe, but confused, sad, and a little angry that she went. She wont look at me, shes staring at the ground crying. This must have been a painful day for her too. She had some decisions to maje, and was hurt in so many ways. I open my mouth to speak, but before any words come out, the door opens. Luna stands there with my mother, they both stare angrily at Carly who gets up and runs out crying beforeI can stop her.

I patted Will's shoulder. "You should go. They're your family! But always know that you can stay with us whenever you want."

He smiled and gave me a quick hug. "Thanks dude."

"No problem. You were a great house guest," I chuckled. "It felt kind of like I had a brother."

"You're a good friend Chris," his uncle said, extending his hand. I shook it firmly.

Will and I went in the basement to gather up his stuff. There wasn't much stuff to pack, but we moved slowly. I didn't want him to move out of course, but I knew it'd probably be best if he stayed with his uncle.

"Well, that's it," he sighed, putting the last of his clothes into his duffle bag. He looked around the room for a second, seeming to take everything in.

"I meant it when I said you can stay anytime," I said quietly. "You always helped around the house, you helped with Gramps, and my whole family loves you. Not to mention I owe you for the past few days when you've helped me with my dad."

He looked at me. "You helped me get away from my mom. It's the least I could do."

I smiled and clapped him on the back and we headed up the stairs.

"Bye Chris! Thanks for everything, and I'll see you at school tomorrow!" Will called as he went out the door.

"Thanks Chris," Roy said, winking at me. "Come over any time."

"Maybe I will," I smiled. "Bye!"

The door shut, and suddenly the house felt painfully empty. Then I remembered that my family was at Lena's aunt's house, and they were probably worried. Not bothering to grab anything, I hopped in my car and sped towards the house like a maniac. I was there in half the time it should've taken me. Penny was standing outside, an when she saw my car, she immediately ran towards it.

"Chris!" she creamed as I got out. ""You're here! And you're okay right?"

"Yes Penny, I'm fine," I laughed, hugging her tightly. My little sister tended to piss me off a lot, but right now I never wanted to let her go. For a while I thought I wouldn't be able to hold her ever again.

"Mom! Gramps! He's here!" she shouted, tears streaming down her face.

The front door flew open and my mom ran over and hugged me as well. They were both sobbing and I was fighting back some years as well.

"I was so scared," she choked out. "But you're safe! And that's all that matters."

Through Mom's hair I could see Gramps peering at us through the doorway, confusion on his face.

"Gramps! It's me, Chris!" I called out to him.

His face lit up and he started to slowly walk down the steps towards me. Did he remember me? "I've seen you before," he said, concentrating hard on my face. "I can't remember how I know you, but I feel happy to see you."

"I'm your grandson," I laughed, tears pouring down my face.

"Dat's how I know you!" he said, finally making his way over to us. Mom and Penny moved aside and let him hug me. I was in shock; most of the time he didn't remember who Penny and I were and even struggled to remember who Mom was sometimes.

He pulled away and looked at me with a serious look on his face. "Have I ever taught you how to play scopa?"

Yes. A thousand times. I'd played more times than I could count. "Why no, I don't believe you have."

"Let's go inside and I'll teach you...." he said, leading me into the house.

It hurt to leave Chris, he's my best friend. And him lending the room to me was more than enough. I didn't want to go, but at the same time, I did. I finally wanted to be a part of Uncle Roy's family. After all this time, he was a true father to me.

No matter what.

Uncle Roy led me to the guest room of his two-story home. It was next to his twins bedrooms bed they were pre-teens so they wouldn't bother me much. Except if they decide to wonder who the hell I am.

The room is cozy, creme walls, a full size bed smack dab in the middle of the room leaning against the wall. A huge window was across from the door. There was a closet and a small dresser with a TV on top. It wouldn't be complete without the desk which stood in front of the window.

I loved this place. I remembered when he just started to build it. I was about ten when he decided to make his own home. And this is what came out of it, just like he had planned.

My phone rang as I lie on my bed, already had unpacked.

"Hello?" I ask.

"Babe, hi." it was Avery, her voice so sweet. I missed her already.

"Hey Ave. What's going on?" I asked.

I sat up, looking out the window. It was getting pretty dark, the sun setting.

"Nothing, I just wanted to know how you're settling in there..." she sounded like she was hiding something.

"Avery, what's going on?" I was serious now.

"Will... something happened."

What could have happened?! Just by hearing her say this my heart stopped and I was frightened by my last nerve.

"Baby, tell me."

"Your parents... they made Uncle Roy take you in..." she took a deep breath. "So they could take you back."

"That's not true. Roy loves me. He wants me to be safe."

"Willy! Of course he does. But they want to get a way to get you back. They're gonna use the guilt trip on him or something."

I stood up, pacing the room. Oh God. He wouldn't give me out to those horrible people, would he? He knew they hated my guts. When I was younger he always wanted to help me, told me that he would take me in. Whenever he thought him and a girl were getting serious, he would ask them if it was okay to get me. He cared so much.

"They can't! Wait... how did you find out?"

"I-," she couldn't finish because someone yelled at her. That someone was so familiar, it hurt. I realized I didn't even miss them. My dad yelled at her.

"You bitch! Don't talk to that scumbag!" he screamed.

"Don't you dare call my daughter a bitch." her dad hissed.

"Leave her alone dad!" I yelled.

I was at Emmett's, playing around on his computer. I was looking at Facebook, bored really. He was talking to his sister about something and I decided to go to their house. Mine was empty, my parents left for work.

"Jane," Emmett came in, smiling.

"Hey Emm," I smiled back.

He came up to me and kissed me softly. I always loved his kisses.

"We found a way to deal with Drake,"

How?

Emmett

After Jane had told me the story of Drake at her house, my brain had gone into over-drive thinking about solutions. He’d been a good guy, once. He couldn’t really be all that terrible if he’d had a beginning of evil, not just born that way. I might not be able to completely reverse him, but since I wasn’t strong enough to beat him into sense, we had to try what I was good at- strategic intelligence.

How do you undermine all the bad guys? You throw an arrow at what matters to them most, of course. Lacey had only been very willing to help- still had a thing against scumbags- and with her brain next to mine, we’d come up with something. The only problem that the something was a step before actually doing something.

Jane looks up at me expectantly, “How?”

Her quick faith in me was astounding. It both helped and hurt the way I was feeling right now. If I had full faith in myself, then everything would be perfect. I don’t, though, and that makes my heart hurt. “ We have to go back to his roots.”

I still didn’t have faith in myself as the three of us- yes, Lacey had insisted on going- pulled into the ‘driveway’ of Drake’s house.

Jane sighs in relief. “His car’s not here. He takes that thing wherever he goes.”

“Good!” Lacey says cheerfully. “Makes our job easier.”

I get out of the car, and hurry around to the side to open the door for Jane. Lacey opens her own door before I can get it- it used to make her feel special, but I think it just makes her feel useless now. We all walk to the door of the old white trailer, and Jane raises her shaking hand to knock on it. Almost immediately, the door swings open.

A middle-aged woman with sad eyes and saggy eyelids is standing there in a bath robe. She looks like… someone who would live in a trailer park. She looked like she once might have been pretty, with her thick brown hair, but she wasn’t any longer.

Her eyes fall on Lacey and I, and her lips draw up into a sad sneer. “Are you two Injuns or Mexicans? I ain’t ever seen people that look like you.”

My hands ball up into fists as Jane steps forward. “Ms.Montgomery? It’s me, Jane.”

Mrs.Montgomery’s eyes fall onto Jane and she smiles. “Jane!” She surges forward to hug her, and I catch a whiff of cheap perfume- not cigarette smoke like I’d crudely expected- as she passes. “Why are you here? It’s not a good idea, girl!”

Lacey steps forward, clearly annoyed with the whole ‘Injun or Mexican’ thing. “We’re here to talk about your son, Mrs. Montongomery.”

The woman stiffens, pulling away from Jane and saying curtly; “Ms. Montgomery, thank you. I ‘spose you can come.” She looked at the sky. “Drake ain’t gonna be home for a while, and Diana’s passed out drunk at her ‘boyfriend’s’.” Jane explained to me that Diana was Drake’s fifteen year-old sister and the words ‘passed out drunk’ send shivers down my spine. I vaguely wondered how Drake could let something like that happen- when I remember the pregnant girl behind me. “So I guess y’all can come in.”
I have loved the words and I have hated them. I only hope I have made them right.

Avery

When Will's uncle drops me off I see the silver Ferrari in the front and sprint to the door. I had left my keys in my locker like a dumbass and rang the doorbell like fifty times trying to get in. My father opens up the door and envelops me in a hug as soon as he see's me. "Oh baby girl I've missed you so much" he says, his Dutch accent thick in my ear "Will's uncle called my phone just as I was landing and left a voicemail explaining what happened. I was so worried about you but I'm so proud to call you my daughter for your bravery." My dad pulled away and I took a long look at him.

When he had left his dark blonde hair had been thick and silky soft, but now I could see it thinning a tiny bit and could even make out some silver strands lacing throughout his neatly trimmed hair. My dad and I don't resemble each other much other than our annoying widows peak, weirdly creased ears, and the tiny birth mark we both have on the back of our knees. I mostly resemble my mom, with her long dark mahogany hair and short stature. Even the deep dimples we both have in our cheeks. But even with the way we resemble each other, I've always been closer to my dad.

"You have no reason to be proud of me daddy" I say quietly while looking down at my air Jordan's " I gave up, and everyone else had to come to my rescue. God I feel like crap. I'm always the short little damsel in distress that has to be saved by everyone else." I feel my eyes welling up with tears as I recount myself giving up and just preparing to die, not fighting back even a little bit.

My dad, the tough commando that he is, shakes me. " Avery, you are a Piest. And us Piest do not give up! Do you hear me?" He says loudly.

I nod and smile at my dad. " How could I not hear you? Your waking up half our neighborhood." I say and giggle a bit.

He smiles and shakes his head then turns around and leads me into the house. At the table my mom is sitting and drinking her spicy chai tea. She looks over at me and smiles and I immediately see a huge difference. One, she used to stay inside of her bedroom for days upon days, so depressed that she was practically comatose and needed me and my my dads help for the simplest of things. Two, she has not smiled at me since I was seven. Literally, it has been that long. She gets up and slowly walks towards me, then envelops me in a hug of her own.

"Baby boo," she whispers my old nickname in her pretty wind chimey voice. "I'm so sorry" she says, and nuzzles herself into the base of my neck. I hug her back, and feel her soft curls tickle my arms at the small of her back. We could be twins, our only difference being that she's slightly darker than me. When she lets me go, she smiles a beautiful, brilliant smile, and holds my face in her small hands. The new hospital has done wonders to her. Her skin is a bright medium brown and her hair is healthy and shiny and falls down her back in cute natural curly curls. Her smile is bright and happy and truly sincere, and I feel my eyes welling up again at seeing the mother that I thought I had lost several years ago. We sit at the kitchen island in the center of my kitchen as a family and talk for up to forty five minutes before I hear the doorbell.

I go to get it while my dad fills champagne glasses for all of us. I open the door without looking at who it is and my jaw drops. Wills parents stand on my porch looking annoyed and ruffled.

" We want to talk to your parents Avery. Now!" Wills mother exclaims at me.

" Now bitch, I do not know who you think you are, coming to our home, yelling at our daughter like you own the place, but your about to get something up your-" my mother says loudly at Will's mom before getting cut off by my dad.

"Honey, why don't you and Avery go into the dining room for a second?" My dad asks, interjecting before my fiery mother could make things worse. " But she does have a point," my dad says, addressing Will's parents, venom lacing his words. " Come in and we will speak." He says tamping down his anger.

They come in and survey the place with disgust and jealousy. From outside it looks tiny and cozy but on the inside the interior is humongo. As my dad speaks to them in the kitchen, my mom busies herself watching chopped on the food network and I slowly sip my champagne and secretly listen to the conversation. It seems that they had come over to ask my parents to tell me to stop dating Will since I seem to be the reason that he's getting this newfound rebellious streak in him. The explain that they already have it planned to have Will's uncle bring him there, and I feel a strong panic begin to take me over. I have to warn him, because I know that he does not want to move back into that hell hole.

I call him quickly and stall for a bit and then just cut to the chase. I know how much this will hurt him, since he's so close to his uncle, but he has to know. I explain the last part a bit to loudly and I guess that Will's dad hears it since I'm met with a loud " Don't talk to him you bitch!" Followed by my dad yelling " Don't you call my daughter that!" Then followed by a " Get the fuck out of my house before I bust a cap in your ass's" my mom says loudly. I had already hung up the phone and didn't get to hear what Will said when I'm watching my dad holler at Wills parents as they drive away. I turn to my mom and shake my head.

" One, mommy that was really ghetto and two, would you mind if Willy Boo stayed here for awhile?"

Jane Wills

We landed at Drake's house. His mother, who I always loved, greeted me with the best hug in the world. She was a second mother to me when my mom got all nuts mad at me for no apparent reason. I missed her really, she was sweet even though she looked like one of those low life freaks.

I jumped onto their worn out leather couch and took in the familiar scent of lilac spreading in the air. This place was so comfortable, I don't even remember the last time I was here.

"So, Jane. Would you like to introduce your friends?" Mrs. Montgomery said as she sat in her Lay-Z-Boy.

"Oh, this is Emmett and that's Lacey." I smiled.

They both sat down next to me, a bit uncomfortable. I would understand, new place, new feelings about it. This was home to me one time ago.

"Nice to meet you all." she smiled all white-toothed.

She may look run down, but this lady had her days. When she was younger she was a model for Vogue. But then she fell for one of the carpenters that helped fix her home. They got married, had kids, lost money, he died, now she's here. It's horrible what life can do to you if you waste it. But, she's still got the same personality she has had ever since she was born, cheery and happy no matter what.

"Let's get straight to the topic at hand, sorry to be so frank but we need to tell you something very important about your son Drake." Emmett got all professional.

"Alright..." she sipped her coffee.

We explained everything. The almost-rape, the moving into our school, the almost-beat-up-Emmett. Everything.

It was a few minutes of talking, but she didn't seem surprised by this at all. Her expression the same and her shock as fake as Botox.

"Listen," she started. "I've tried to make him stop... he's just like this. You gotta accept it. It's hard, I would know." she chuckled. "But I've tried sweeties. I have so hard. Fuck, sorry for my language, I've made him work! He's nineteen and has to work? That's his reaction to everything. I don't know what to do anymore. He landed us here."

There was a brief silence as her words floated in the air.

"We had enough funds from Harley, my late husband, and from my modelling days. I got back on the horse, started working again as a fashion designer. Drake took up all the money. Gambled, just like his father before he died. Except when Harley lost money, he worked hard to get it right back! Drake doesn't care. I had to quit my job, move back to this damn city and not only that work as a cashier for a department store." I could see tears building behind her eyes.

Now I wanted to cry, my heart yearning for hers to stop hurting so bad. She's such a good woman, she doesn't deserve this hurt.

"Boot camp, I thought about it. Don't got the funds for that either."

There was a silence again as we let Mrs. Montgomery calm down. I leaned back into the couch as Emmett spoke up.

"I'm so sorry for you..." what else could he say? Nothing. This shit hurts.

"It's alright my dear. I made this hack of a mess myself." she chuckled some more, trying to ease the tension. "Look, I'll talk to him again. But I garentee you..." she couldn't finish her sentence because someone slammed the trailer door open.

I shouldn't be surprised, it is his home.

A furious looking Drake burst into the house, laughing. So... yeah. Confusing. He was covered in blood and sweat as he walked up to us.

"Ma, these stupid ass bitches trying to beat the shit out of me!" he yelled.

"Watch your language in front of the-," he cut her off.

"I don't give a fuck Ma! Bitched think they're so tough and they can hurt me. Nah, watch me get her back." It's like he didn't even know we were here.

"Drake..." she said sternly.

Scratching his head, he said. "What?!"

She nodded her head towards us and he turned around. I personally did not want him to realize so he could walk off, not knowing we were even there. His presence brought shivers down my spine. I grabbed Emmett's hand. I was scared.

"Oh," he paused. "Look who we have here. Little miss slut with her lover and his fuck buddy."

"Drake Emmett Montgomery!" She yelled.

Yes, he had the middle name of my boyfriend. Forgot to mention that.

"What? It's the truth!"

"One," I spoke up. He turned to face me, smirking like an idiot. "That's his sister. Two, that's my boyfriend and three, I am no slut."

"Sure you aren't little Janey..." he came up to me, making me feel more uncomfortable.

His hand was reaching out to my face as I was pulling away. Emmett pushed him lightly so he would stop.

Will Franco

I found my uncle's study and knocked on the door.

"Come in," he said softly.

Opening the door, I saw him reading a book, The Bourne Identity, his favorite book. He read it more than ten times but couldn't stop. The room was dark, wood paneling circling it and bookshelves on each wall. It reminded me of a mafia for some reason, you could smoke a cigar and drink some whiskey and look in place right here.

"Did you and my parents make an agreement to take me in here so you could trick me so they could take me back home?" I said quickly, wanting to get it over with.

He dropped his book, looking up at me in clear shock.

"Excuse me? Do you not appreciate my help?" Now he was angry.

"No that's not it. I'm grateful for your help. You're the only one that cared..."

"But...?"

I took a breath, letting all my emotions go.

"But Ave called me. She said my parents were at her house and that they made you take me in so they could take me back."

He stood up from his desk chair and came up to me, showing hurt in his eyes. I should've trusted him, I always have, but I was always scared.

"Listen, I would never do that. They must have found out you were here somehow. I really wanted to take you in Will. Truly. To keep you safe..." he carried off. "Wait, why were they at Avery's in the first place? Wouldn't they stop by here to get you?"

"That's the true question here..." I sighed.

Shaking his head, he pulled me into a hug. A true fatherly hug. That's why I loved his and his five-o'clock-shadow, he always seemed to pull it off.

We pulled apart as his son, Tyler ran into us.

"Control the love guys," he smiled. Oh Thirteen year olds... what can you do with them?

"Shut up Ty." I laughed.

That's when someone repeatedly rang the doorbell and I knew who it was already.

"You go to your room Will, Ty, go with him. Keep him company. I'll deal with the devils, Satan's children." Roy smirked.

We did as he told, running up the stairs to my room. Mid-way down the hallway, Ty grabbed my arm.

"You wanna eavesdrop on the convo?"

"Isn't that wrong dude? What are you learning?"

"To be a detective, follow me." he smirked. Damn, looks just like little Roy.

I followed after him into Roy's bedroom. We went into the walk-in closet, under the coats section. There was a vent on the floor. You could see the kitchen from here.

"I know they'll be there. Dad protecalls. If something is needed to be heard from us, like you, he'd do that talking in the kitchen. How I know this? He said to keep you company. Our signal. Now, keep that information to yourself." he talked like a serious mad man detective. Nice.

Nodding, I just looked and listened. And of course, he took them to the kitchen. They looked furious and I didn't miss them one bit. I didn't want them to die, I just wanted them to disappear.

I called Chris right after everything, he needed to know.

I'd been walking around the hospital for what seemed like forever, when in real time, it had only been fifteen minutes. The argument Carly and I had gotten into was still bouncing erratically off the walls of my skull. I shouldn't have lost my temper like that. I shouldn't have yelled at her like I did. I know I should've kept my cool, but I couldn't stand the thought of Carly making the same mistakes I did. It ruined me, and I didn't want it to destroy her the way it destroyed me. I was still trying to pick up the shattered pieces of myself, and truth be told I don't ever think I'll ever really be whole again. I found a chair to sit in and mull everything over.

"Hey," a familiar voice came from right in front of me.

I looked up to see Kai's giant form standing not two feet away. He was wearing a tight fit black shirt that show cased his tight six pack and pecs, and short sleeves that molded to his rock hard biceps. His denim jeans hung slightly low on his trim hips and a leather jacket to tie the entire outfit together. I'm in trouble.

I clear my throat. "Hey, Kai. What' are you doing here?"

He takes the seat next to me. "Keo and I were going for a run and he tripped over a tree limb neither one of us caught, and took a nasty fall down a hill."

"Oh no," I frowned. "is he ok?"

"Yea," he nodded. "but he has a slight concussion and an ugly cut starting from his temple down to his jaw. It'll probably leave a scar."

"Well," I shrug and smile. "the important thing is that he's Ok right?"

"Yes," another voice comments. "a very good thing i'd say."

We both look up and see the giant hulk of a man. I blinked twice. Nope, I was seeing clearly. Or maybe not. The man I was seeing looked almost exactly like Kai, except bigger. Same hair, skin tone, and build. He walked forward and held his hand out to me.

"Hello," the man said. "my name is Axel, and i'm Kai"s father."

I knew I wasn't going crazy. I smiled as I tried to shake his massive hand in a firm grip. This odd feeling of familiarity washed over me and I stifled the gasp that almost escaped my lips."Hi, my name is Luna. It's nice to meet you."

"Likewise." he smiled warmly.

I sat back down and he took the seat on my other side. I tried to make conversation with Kai, but he was being unresponsive. My eyes wandered back to Axel. I looked him over, trying to figure out what had sparked that feeling of knowing. Then I realized he caught me starring at him and looked away with a blush hot on my cheeks. He just smiled at me. "Do you have a question for me?"

Busted. I turned to face him. "I'm sorry. It's just that when I shook your hand I had this odd feeling. Like i've known you almost my entire life."

"It's probably nothing." he says. "I get that all the time."

"Yea," I say. "it's probably nothing."

Just then I see Keo heading towards us in a wheel chair and a nurse pushing him. I walk over as he stadnds up and give him a hug. He wraps his arms around me and does a spin before letting go. He kisses me on the forehead. "How are you feeling Keo?"

"You don't have to worry." he wrapped an arm around my shoulders. "It's nothing serious."

Axel walked up with Kai at his side. Axel grabbed Keo in a hug and kissed the top of his head. "Next time watch where you're walking. All I have left are you, your brother, and sister."

Keo patted him on the shoulder. "You got it, pops."

Axel sighed. Keo sat back in the wheel chair. The nurse stepped forward. "If you'll coem with me sir, i'll get you to sign the discharge papers and you can be on your way."

"Alright then." Axel nodded. "Lead the way."

He walked off with Kai following suit, leaving Keo with me. He starred at me for a long moment. I frowned. "Is something wrong?"

"I don't know," he shrugs."Is there?"

"Everything's fine." I lie

He looks at me for another moment. "I'm not stupid, Luna. I can see something's eating at you."

I sighed. "I got into an argument with a friend over something I have personal experience with, and she's making the same mistakes I did."

"Does said person know this?" he raised and eyebrow.

"No," I sigh. "she doesn't"

"Well then," Keo shrugs as Axel and Kai came back. "maybe she should."

We said our good byes and they left. I sat on what Keo said for who knows how long, weighing the pros and cons. Maybe it was time to shed a some light in a dark corner of my past.

After I tell Matt everything the door opens. Its Luna. Im still not ready to talk to her. I bust out of the room and head downstairs. I run out of the hospital unsure of where to go. Im unwanted. So I find myself walking to the one place where it's normal to be hated. I find myself walking home. For the first time in a week I'm
heading home.

I walk right up to the door, pull out my keys, and let myself in. I look around at the place I had finally escaped from. It's quiet. Of course its quiet it's 1 in the morning! The place is a mess. It's apparent that no one has cleaned since I left and mother must have broken some things out of rage. I'm still looking around when I hear a voice and jump. I turn around to see it's my sister. "Mom is gonna kill you." I sigh. "Yeah I know." "So what have you been up to?" I break down and tell her everything that's happened hoping she can give me some advice. But in the end all she has to say is, "Don't tell mom and dad what that Drake guy did. Or about Matt and you. Get some sleep. We all know you wont be getting any when mom gets up." Listening to my big sister I head to my room and climb in bed. I take a deep breath enjoying the last few minutes of my freedom.

Been so busy! Sorry...

Emmett

I felt like an idiot. I should know better than to judge people, but when I saw Mrs. Montgomery... well, I feel like I jumped the boat so many have jumped aganist her. I feel terrible about it, really.

That doesn't mean, however, that I wasn't going to hold my grudges aganist her son.

After I shove him back, barely enough to send hm backwards, he turns his dark eyes on me. He looks at me with an angry expression, eyes fiery and tragic, the way Hamlet looked at Laeteres before he killed him.

Not a great comparrison. Okay, done with that. Besides, I would totally call being Hamlet. Anyway.

"You. What the hell are you, anyway? A little Indian genius or a freaking Mexican? Who do you think you are, think you're good enough for her. She doesn't need a wimp like you! She only gets me. Only me."

There's quiet after that. Everyone heard it- the care. The damn tone of emotion that proved he wanted her. It was only want, the lustful kind of a tryrant, but it was a happy want that had a History.

Jane squeaks and I take that as my que to stand up and face Drake. My heart is racing, but I've read enough Shakespear plays to know what I was doing an hope I wouldn't get stabbed. "You could've kept her, you know." We stepped closer together, this skater man-whore and this mixed smart kid, "She wanted you too. She did, I know that. In your head you turned her into this... slut because she liked you to much for you to handle." Behind me, I see the movement of Lacey moving over to sit besides Jane. "Are you suprised she's given up on you and moved on to someone who doesn't want to get into her pants? If you'd kept caring, you might still have her." I look back behind me, where my sister and girlfriend are holding hands. Jane gives me a weak smile. "Or maybe not."

He doesn't know what to do with me for a second, but then he frowns, all the crazy flowing back into is eyes. Drake raises his fist, but something reaches to stop it.

Mrs.Montgomery is standing behind her son. "He's right." She whispers. "It's time to let this go."

Drake frowns, and he has a tear on his face glinting in the light before he gets his grin back on. "New school, right. New girls to sleep with, right? I don't need you anymore, Jane. Honestly. I don't need to deal with your idiot 'boyfriend'. How long can he last with you before he's in your pants and going crazy?"

"Drake." Mrs.Montgomery says. "Stop it and let them go."

Lacey, who has done her part and shut up this whole trip, takes this as a que and helps Jane off the couch. I turn around, thanking Drake's mother.

I just hope I've done the right thing.
I have loved the words and I have hated them. I only hope I have made them right.

Jane Wills

Emmett and Drake went at it. Civilly, but at it. Okay. Emmett was the only civil one in the argument.

"New school, right. New girls to sleep with, right? I don't need you anymore, Jane." he looked at me for a quick second, sending shivers down my spine. "Honestly. I don't need to deal with your idiot 'boyfriend'. How long can he last with you before he's in your pants and going crazy?"

I stood up, but Lacey pulled my arm to sit back down. I did. All I wanted to do was slap him hard, so he could feel the pain that's going through me.

"Drake." Mrs.Montgomery said. "Stop it and let them go."

It was cold as her words hung in the air. Emmett politely thanked her as Lacey helped me off the couch. He came with us, walking out of the trailer into the luke-warm air.

"I hope everything will be okay." I huffed under my breath.

We all walked up to Emmett's car as he unlocked it. Hopping in, I buckled up. Lacey sat in the back and Emmett parked himself in the drivers seat. He flipped on the heating.

"Everything will be okay..." Emm said mostly to himself.

It was quiet once he started the car. Music was playing, something I recognized but didn't concentrate on. My mind was blurry with what had just happened.

"Emmett," Lacey said, cutting the dense air.

"Mhm," he hummed.

"Drop me off at home. You and Jane need to talk..."

I was shocked at first, but I knew what she meant. We did need to talk. About everything. It was something that needed to be resolved.

"About what?" he slammed the steering wheel with his hand lightly.

It was silent once again.

We stood in front of their house, silent and still. Letting the news sink in. I heard crickets chirping in the air. The sun was slowly setting, it's rays swiping every inch of the Earth. I could smell winter coming.

The door opened and I looked at the rear view mirror, Lacey was getting out of the car. Once she stepped out, she shut the door and walked off into the house.

Then there was just two.

"I'm sorry about Drake..." I whispered. "He, he was never like this." I felt tears sting my eyes. "I thought he would return to, like, what he was."

"I understand," his voice was faint.

"No you don't Emmett." I faced him. He looked a bit taken aback. "He loved his family, took care of them when his father passed away. Until he hit sixteen. Then he went mad. Drinking, sniffing, smoking, and fucking. He forgot who he was. He's lost. And I've been trying to help him find himself."

He was quiet as he took all this information in.

William Franco

I stood at Avery's front door, hesitating to knock on it. I knew what lied behind it and I wasn't ready for it. But I had to.

I knocked, pounded against the door. My heart was racing as I heard light footsteps headed toward the entrance. If it was my parents, I wouldn't know what to do.

The door opened with a worried looking Avery, I even saw some tears building behind her eyes. I pulled her into a hug, squeezing her skinny body tight. I didn't want to let her go.

"Babe, everything's fine." I whispered into her hair.

She whimpered, falling into my arms.

"Look," I heard my dad's rage run through his voice, thick as butter.

I pulled away from Avery, still holding her in my arms. My dad was standing a mere five feet away from us. It looked like his eyes would jump out of their sockets. My mom was right behind him, crying.

"Look at that bastard," he smiled wickedly.

"Dad, listen to me." I hissed.

He stood silent.

"I love her. That's all that should matter. She means the entire world to me. We've been best friends since I could remember. Isn't that all that should matter? That I love her and that she makes me happy?" I watched him the whole time.

"That's all that should matter baby," my mother smiled.

"Shut up!" my dad's had went across her face.

Avery's dad ran from the kitchen. His face was shaped with worry as he went up to my mother, hugging her.

"You are one sick man." her dad hissed, pulling away from my mom.

He slowly walked up to my dad, cautious of his actions. I was even afraid that my father would pull a trick on him.

"You wouldn't know," my dad spun on his heel, facing him. "how it is to have a horrible son like him. All he does is ruin our lives..." my mom cut him off.

"He's amazing."

I looked at her with disbelief.
