Lena
It was adorable to see Avery and Will sitting on one seat. Obviously, there wasn't much space in the car, so me and Luna just slide through the back seat. We laugh a little by the way, Will and Avery seems so crammed in the passenger-seat.
As we travel, we get to know that Mr. Roy already knows Chris's dad which was great. The only 2 people who knew Chris's dad a little too well was me and Mr. Roy. We roll down to a old run down building. We saw smoke escaping from one of its windows. Mr. Roy rolls down the glass and sniffs the air.
We got out, as I heard Mr. Roy calling on some back-up. This freaked me a little because back-up from the police wasn't really always good. One single hearing step on one of those fresh leaves, we're done for. We hide behind of the trees, and phone up Chris's house. A young lady picks up.
"Hello?" the lovely voice told me.
"Hi there. Is this Chris's house?" I ask, just to make sure.
"Y-Yes... Do you know where my brother is?!" she squeaked through the phone.
Penny.
"Don't worry. May I speak with your mother, please?"
"Mom! Some lady's on the phone! She knows where Chris is!" Penny screamed from the background.
Not before long, she picked it up.
"Hello?" another voice told me.
"Hi. Chris's mom?" I ask.
"Yes. Where's my son?!" she demands.
"Please, do not panic. I'm Lena, Chris's girlfriend." I start. "Apparently, Chris is in a very difficult situation to talk."
"What's happened with him, Lena? How come you never told us, earlier? Its been 1 day since he's returned! He's never this late!" she spat.
"Ma'am, please, do not panic. He's alright. J-Just..." I couldn't tell her that Chris was kidnapped, could I? She would freak out more than now.
"You need to move out. As soon as possible. Along with Penny and your father, ma'am. Its for your safety. Please, I'll give you the address. You'll need to evacuate, probably now." I instruct.
There's a small silence. Then, Ms. McKenzie broke the chain of silence.
"Okay." she said, in a very small voice. I understood that her throat was closed, tangled with all those feelings of fear.
I give her the address as she takes it down. When we're done, I clarify a few more things.
"Take all the essential things such as passports and some clothes. You'll need to stay there for awhile." I said.
"Why do we have to move? Please, tell me! I'm his mother!" she exclaims.
"Ms. McKenzie..." I take a huge breath. "Chris left with his dad yesterday, yes?"
"Yes... What has he done?!"
"Chris is with a criminal. That's all I can tell you now."
I hear her phone drop. I can't hear anything, but I close my eyes that everything would end well. She comes back to the line.
"W-What did y-you s-s-say?" she asks me.
This was hard.
"Please do not force me to say it. Just follow my instructions. And move as fast as possible. I would suggest you not to call him. I'm putting the line down, Ms. McKenzie." I say.
"Okay. PENNY!" she says, and cuts the line.
I turn to Will, Avery and Luna to check if everything's alright.
"What's up?" Avery asks.
"They should be moving out in awhile." I say.
"Okay, take cover, y'all." Mr. Roy instructs and hands us all a talky.
Me and Luna scurry over to the other side of the tree. I check the watch.
"They should be out by now." Another voice comes through the talky.
"Must be an officer." Luna says.
"Yeah..." I say, peeping out of the tree to see if they were coming out.
Luna drags me by my shirt that I almost fall.
"What're you doing?! You don't want all of us to get killed?" she demands.
"Sorry." I apologize.
