I'll be a good little writer and assist you... again.

Emmett Ahote Lopez

Relationships were work, and I'd forgotten that. There were good parts- and yes, I'll admit that there were mostly good parts- but their were also nasty parts, like the Drake incident. Those are things you tend to forget, when you get caught up in different kinds of whirlwind emotions.

Jane and I had a quickly developing relationship, and we'd done things I'd never done before. We'd made-out in her bedroom when my parents didn't know I was there, and spooned at my house when her parents didn't care. There was one line that I wouldn't cross, not yet- we may wake up together, but we hadn't had sex yet.

It was so tempting. So terribly tempting, but Lacey kept getting bigger everyday- the whole school knew now, when she cared to go to it- and I couldn't do that to Jane. I just couldn't risk it. Lacey is so broken now- most of her friends won't talk to her, and she still craves the abortion- and Jane's already broken. If somethng were to happen... Well, I just have to keep my manly cravings to myself, don't I?

I parked my car in front of one of those seasonal Halloween stores. It had taken a little bit of coaxin, but Jane had agreed to shop to get our Halloween costumes. I'm so glad she agreed to go Trick-or-treating. Rumours of parties were already spreading around, but I think Trick-or-Treating would be more fun- at less risky- as long as we don't steal candy from the kids, that is.

We walk inside the small shop, crowded with people. Jane runs her finger along a 'nurse' costume. "I don't think this shop is going to work for me, Emmett. This is kind of slutty, don't you think?"

I pince her hip. "I'm sure you would look great, but I was thinking more foam swords."

I grab her hand and drag her to where the barrel of foam swords are. I grab two, but toss one to her. "You ready for a fight?"

She laughs, hitting me playfully on the side. "You're on."

We bat back and forth for a while- myself the clear winner- when something catches the corner of my eye. Him. He's with a grl whose outfit makes the nurse's costume look like a nun. Great.

Either Drake or Lacey's boyfriend-who-got-her-pregnant. Theses two need some new problems. I am gong to have fun with Emmett's sex-a-phobic attitude, so I hope it's okay with you, Nike.
I have loved the words and I have hated them. I only hope I have made them right.

Sunshine, it's even great. I think we need their relationship to develop. And his sex-o-phobia to I don't know, whatever you want to do with it. Thanks for writing by the way :) .

Yes, I wanted to go Trick-or-Treating. Yes, I hated Costume Stores. I usually made my own costumes with the items I had at home. These stores never have normal costumes, just ones that make you look like a whore. Not my type of Halloween material.

I don't think Emmett only wants to go Trick-Or-Treating. There's been this talk about a party at this guy Wills house. I've heard about in school and I even got an invitation. I didn't tell Emmett yet, well, because I didn't want to go.

We were fighting with foam swords when all of a sudden Emmett stopped. He looked at this one guy who was with a girl which had on the nurse's costume I saw a few minutes ago.

"Who's that?" I asked.

He was silent for a minute then looked back at me. I knew what he would've done if I had let him. He would go up to that guy and give him a piece of his mind.

"Emm, no." I grabbed his hand.

"I have to."

Pulling him away from the guy, I tried to calm him down.

"Who is he? Why do you want to talk to him?"

"Oh, I don't want to talk to him." he hissed.

"Emmett!" I snapped.

"He's the guy that got Lacey pregnant."

I stopped and looked at the guy. He reminded me of Drake. He got a girl pregnant too. Drake told me that one day becuase he was 'scared' to be a dad. Never told me who though.

"Are you sure that's the guy Emmett?" I had my doubts.

"Absolutely, Lacey told me."

"How'd she get pregnant?"

He gave me a dumb-fond look. "Jane, you've had sex-ed before, right?"

"No," I sighed. "Was she drunk?"

He thought for a moment.

"She could have mis-judged the appearance while she was under the influence. I have a feeling the father of her child could be..." I took a deep breath. "Drake,"

WRITING.

Lena

I felt bad to see Will working while we managed with our drinks. I couldn't make my way to take a sip though. Avery came in a few minutes later and took a sit next to us.

"Hey, Ave." I said, hugging her.

"God, I missed you so much. Its been what... 3 days?" she asks me. She can be such a Drama Queen.

I roll my eyes. "Its just 3 days. Relax, will you?"

"How can I after you ditched me at the last moment that you weren't coming to stay over at my house? It was a lot fun, you know."

"You know why I couldn't. Anyway, what's most important was that you had your fun." I winked.

"But it wasn't the same without you!"

I saw Will grinning from my corner of the eye. I knew he wanted to join the conversation. I was so lost in thoughts that I didn't hear what Chris was saying.

"Do you think I should do it?" he asked.

Oh, fuck. What did he just say? WHY wasn't I listening?

Narrowing my eyes a little and clearing my throat, I say "Y-yeah... You should."

Chris looks at me with disbelief. He can't believe what I just said and now, he looks angry. I look at Avery and she looks almost the same, ambushed. I want to slap myself right now. I keep my silence.

"Lena. You really think I should work like some dog for my dad? Don't I have my choices too?" Chris demanded.

"Chris, I didn't mean that. I meant that you should really talk about it with your dad. Go through your options."

Phew. Thank god for that.

"I'm just going to check with Will." I say, getting up.

I walk to him and I see him cleaning the aisle. "Hey. How's it going?"

As I wiped the bar, Lena came up to me. I really wanted to hang with them, but a job's a job. Gotta stay here.

"How, how's it going?" she asked.

Looking up, I tried on my best smile.

"That bad?" all I did was nod in reply.

She sat down on the bar stool and I leaned against the counter. I don't know, but, I couldn't stop staring at her. Bad, yes, I got that. But, it's just happened and I can't take that back. I just gotta make sure to not do that again.

"It'll get better Will. I mean, look where you've gotten so far! You have an apartment of your own. And a great job. What's really so bad?"

Thinking about it, I give her props. She's right.

"Well, the only problem is with my family. My dad..." and she knew already. "He's just such a jackass. And I hate this job. I shouldn't be so greedy, but, I wish I had a better one, you know? At least this place gets me a place for cheap rent. That's the only reason I work this."

Lena listened, really listened. She's a good friend when it comes to things. Sometimes I don't talk to Avery about this stuff, I don't need her worried. I talk to Lena.

"I know, I know," she smiled. And what a beautiful smile it was. Like, an honest smile that you knew wasn't even trying to be fake.

"Hey babe," Avery came up to us, full of bubblegum happiness.

"Hey,"

I kissed her over the bar.

"When are you done with work?"

"Uh, in two hours. You know that,"

She giggled and pulled Lena away. "Powdering my nose!" she called out. Instead of going to the bathroom, she headed up to the apartment through the back. I walked by Chris and saw him finish up his drink.

"Want another?" I asked, clearing my throat.

"No, I'm good." he seemed a bit lost.

"Don't tell me you're considering that job man,"

That's all he's been talking about, or rather, thinking about for a while now. Working for his dad is the worst idea anyone can have.

"No, of course not. I'm just trying to find a way to tell him off."

"Your dad?" I swung the rag I had over my shoulder.

"Yeah," he nodded.

"Be simple, I don't want to work for an asshole."

He laughed, spinning the glass on the table.

"No dude, it's fine. I'll find something to say."

"Alrighty, I'm gonna refill that for you." I grabbed his glass from his hand. "Then I'm going to the back to get more vodka. You're gonna stay here and contemplate."

I poured in some beer and gave it to him. He just smiled with gratitude and took a sip. After that, I walked around the bar and into the back. There was a storage room which contained all our liquor. Finding the Vodka box, I opened it and pulled out two bottles. Walking back to the front, I stopped by the stairs because I heard something coming from upstairs.

"I really wanna do this." Avery said.

"You have to think about this. You guys are still young. Do you really want to make that kind of commitment yet?" Lena said.

"God Lena, I love him. I want to be with him for the rest of my life. And I know he does."

The burning sensation in the pit of my stomach and the doubts in my head suggest I defiantly was not thinking that. Not saying that I don't love her, I do, with all my heart. But the idea of marriage is my commitment issue problem. I just can't do it.

I walked away from the stairs and back to the bar. Placing the vodka on the counter, I spun on my heel and lost sight of Chris. Where did he go? This place was packed! He could be anywhere.

Lena

I followed Avery to the apartment and as soon as I stepped my food in the apartment, she shut the door, locking it. Avery turned to me with her hands on her hips. I raised an eyebrow.

"Why did you lock it?" I asked her.

"Because I have to tell you something!" Avery said, her voice tight.

"Sounds like its important." I say and make my way to the sofa. I was exhausted. I hadn't eaten anything all morning.

"Well, it is!" she squeaked. "Look. You know how Will and me have been managing our relationship, right? And... Everyone says we're meant to be together... So, I thought I'd give it a try."

"What are you coming at?" I ask, confused.

Avery took out a small ring, it was cute and god only knows how much she spend on it. It looked a little expensive. I was awestruck. What was Avery thinking? Has she really lost it? My eyes widen at the sight and look at her, but her face was bright with happiness. In fact, she looked like she was glowing.

"Y-You're..." I lost my words. I didn't know what to say.

Avery nods. "I'm planning to propose him today."

It felt like I had been slapped. Avery was marrying Will? My stomach was filled with all the butterflies at this moment. I can't let that happen. First off, they're too young. Second, Avery has completely lost her sense. Third, I... I... I like Will. Well, sort of. But I wasn't planning on to break their relationship plus Chris would be devastated. But I had to get back at her for the first two reasons.

"What do you think?" Avery asks.

I raise my chin. "Avery. Don't get me wrong. You can't do this."

Avery's smile freezes and slowly drops down. Her eyebrows twist into an arc and she sits back, staring at me. "No. I can't believe you're saying this! You don't care about me, do you?"

"No! Don't jump into conclusions like that!" I shoot back.

"I really wanna do this." Avery spoke.

"You have to think about this. You guys are still young. Do you really want to make that kind of commitment yet?" I say, defensively.

"God Lena, I love him. I want to be with him for the rest of my life. And I know he does."

"I know you do! And he loves you more than anything else. You guys are a perfect couple! But its too early. You can't end up with a baby by the age of 21! Just think about what people would say!"

"Lena, do you really think I'm that stupid?" Avery screams at me.

"Maybe! You're being stupid right now."

"Well, fine! Who needs your shit advice? I have Will. And I know he'll stand up to me. I know he'll agree with me. He isn't like my so-called "best friend" who is unable to understand our love and feelings!"

"Excuse me? For your kind information, I have a boyfriend too! So, its not only you who has feelings but I do too! Lots of other people do but that does not mean you makes crazy decisions!"

"Lots of other girls have proposed and got married already! Why can't you just--"

Just then, the door opens and Will and Chris stroll in, their faces worried. I think with all the screaming, it would have made them suspicious.

"Hey, hey. What's with all the screaming?" Chris asks, with a small smile.

Avery hides the ring between her fingers and I know she's about to do it. I know it. Its like I can read her mind.

Avery, don't. Please don't be so stupid.

Anybody out there? LET'S Write :)

I was at the park, taking a stroll. The nature was beautiful. I just loved looking at trees and animals. All the good stuff. My MP3 was playing some music through my headphones which I had enjoyed, having some peace and a world all to myself.

Someone had touched my shoulder as I walked. Startled, I jumped and spun on my heel. It was Allen. Haven't seen him in a while. Just looking at him made my stomach churn.

"Allen?" I said.

"Jane," he took a breath. "Hey," he must have ran, I mean, his face was beet red and he couldn't catch his breath.

"Are you a runner or did you want to tell me something urgent."

A second passed before he answered. "I'm in my running clothes, as you can see." he waved his hands up and down his body, showing the running material which I had just noticed. "And I want to talk to you."

Placing my hand on my hip, I stood, eagerly waiting for his speech.

"Talk,"

"Okay," he had to catch his breath yet again. "I want to apologize for what happened that night..."

"God, don't bring it up again!"

I started to walk away from him, frustrated with the fact he even mentioned it. What happened, happened, Jesus. We don't have to keep going back to our past. It was a mistake, that's it.

He touched my arm but I pushed him away.

"No, I just wanted to really apologize. Come on Jane! Let's talk about this!"

"No! It happened! Let's just forget about it!"

He managed to catch up to me, no shock there with me being out of shape. So I stopped, and faced him.

"Look, I'm so sorry for that night." I cut him off. "It's partially my fault too. To have sex you need, well, not really, but in our situation I part took in it."

"But I'm still sorry it happened. I just wish I got to know you better before... that... happened. Now we're just hating on each other and that's not good. Just because of this one mistake."

"There it is," I laughed.

"What?"

"You wanna have sex again so you're trying to be my friend, funny."

I knew that Avery ans Lena's conversation had to stop. So, Chris and I went to my apartment. They were screaming when we walked in. Chris was angry with them, actually, it may be shock. Why would they fight?

"Ave, what's going on?" I was being careful, walking up to her slowly.

"Lena thinks that we shouldn't--," Lena cuts her off.

"It's not important,"

Looking at her, I felt my heart race. Her eyes looked lost and a bit frightened. It scared me. How could she be frightened? She's Lena. I looked back at Avery. She was filled with fury, her eyes blazing with it. But, there was also a beautiful smile shaping her face as she played with something in her hand.

Something small and if I really looked, something that looked like a ring.

Fuck.

"Avery..." I was looking at her hand.

She followed my gaze and opened up her hand. There it was, a silver wedding band that must have costed a fortune.

A gasp came from behind me and I knew that was Chris. Everyone was in shock. These kind of things just don't happen.

"Lena told me, asking you was a bad idea. But I disagreed." I took a look at her face. "We love each other. I can imagine us being together, forever. You can too!"

I guess my shock was missing from my face.

"Baby," she came up to me and held my hands, her touch soft and warm. "I can't imagine a future without you."

Her eyes were something I couldn't stop staring at. So sincere and honest. One of the only things that made me love her. The green so beautiful. But I couldn't do this. No matter how much she makes me move, I just can't and really don't want to marry her.

I pulled my hands away as the her smile washed away from her face.

"No, Will, don't tell me..." I cut her off.

I turned and looked at Lena. It's like she knew what I was thinking because a second later she went up to Chris and they both left the apartment.

"Avery, this isn't the right time." I started slow.

"What do you mean this isn't the right time?! We love each other! We've been through so much! Will!"

Locking the front door, I went up to Avery. She was furious. She even moved away from me, not wanting me touching her.

"Can you slow down?" I asked.

"How slow do I need to be?"

I rubbed my temples, pain rushing through my head. She's going to be the end of me. I shut my eyes but opened them just to see her tight lips and angry face. Her hatred was something I didn't want to see.

"That's not what I meant..."

"Oh no. It is what you meant! Why can't we get married?! Will, why can't we?!"

"Because I don't think this is the right time. I have a poor job, just going into college and so are you. I'm not ready to settle down. Have children. Have a family. Have a wife. This is way to early and you fucking know this."

"If you really loved me we wouldn't be having this problem," she hissed under her breath.

I looked up at her and took a deep breath. "I do love you," she just walked right past me and out the door, slamming it as hard as she could. I jumped, turning on my heel. She was gone.

Walking up to the door, I turned the lock and leaned against it. I shut my eyes, taking in what had just happened. I started to slip but I let myself fall to the ground. God, was she angry. I hate seeing her so angry. I miss her happiness.

***

I threw a rock at the window, a small rock, but enough to make some noise. Nothing happened so I threw another one. Just a beat later, the curtain moved and I saw Lena's face.

Waving, I smiled. She smiled back and stuck up her index finger. A minute. I waited, sitting on the grass underneath me.

"Hey groom," she said.

Looking up, I saw her smile which made butterflies fly in my stomach. She sat down next to me.

"Hey maid of honor,"

We laughed, letting the night silence us for a bit. She was picking at the grass, her small fingers pulling the strands. I couldn't not look at her. It was hard not to.

"I'm, not marrying her." I said after a while.

She shifted her focus onto me, her reaction not so shocked.

"I would think so... I mean, like, I know you. You wouldn't marry."

"Too soon," I said.

She nodded, looking up at the night sky. I followed her gaze and saw all these beautiful stars glittering in the heavens. It was amazing. Rocks blowing up, and they look like amazing lights that tear the dark to show some brightness.

"I don't know why she thought marrying you was a great idea," she said after a moment.

"I wish I knew," I huffed.

"She's a girl, she dreams. You can't blame her. She loves you... and you love her," then she was silent.

I looked down at her and saw that she was looking at her hands, playing with some strands of grass. The smile has escaped her face.

"Of course she'd think marrying you was possible. She thought you guys loved each other and that you didn't want to live without each other. And you guys have that. So, yeah, I get why she would do that."

The way she said that, it made my heart crush. Legit break into pieces. Her voice was so sad, I just wanted to hug her. But I knew otherwise, she needed the space. By that tone, I knew it. By the looks of it, she was lost in her own thoughts, her mind a fog.

"Lena," I started. She kept playing with the grass, not looking at me. "I understand that too."

We were silent again.

Yes. Thanks for bringing Allen in. :)

Allen

"You wanna have sex again so you're trying to be my friend, funny." Jane said. I couldn't believe she was getting this all so wrong.

"Look, I don't know why everyone finds the fault in me but remember, that night, both of us were drunk and lost our minds." I explained. "Those things are the past now. I would never dare do it again. I'm sorry, if you think its my fault. I really am. I've tried explaining to Avery but..." I lost my words after that because her angry face was a horrible scene.

"She wouldn't understand? I wouldn't blame her." Jane finished my sentence.

I sighed. There was a long silence.

"Jane, your anger is justified. I'll accept my defeat, okay? I knew you wouldn't understand. No one would." I say, feeling frustrated with myself. "You can carry on, now. I'll leave you to yourself."

I walk back and get my bag. I take my bottle and gulp a huge amount of water. After all the explaining and running, I was tired. I get ready to go when I hear a familiar voice calling my name.

"Allen?" Jane calls out.

I turn, looking at her beautiful eyes. My insides burned, and all of a sudden, I felt nervous as she walked closer to me. She stopped, as we were just a few metres away.

"I'm sorry. I guess it was my fault too." she spoke. "I've never accepted it, but when I think about it... Its not only you. I was there too."

Lena

The silence between me and Will grew, and the night started getting a little tense. I look at Will from the corner of my eye. I just could not stop staring at him. He was so generous and humble. Maybe the most loveliest guy I have ever known. I decided to break the silence.

"Well... Let's just hope everything turns out well for you guys. I know Avery can be a little childish but I also know she has a lot of sense to understand."

Will nods. Of course, he was expecting another answer but I didn't know what to say. I felt kind of bad because I knew he didn't want to hurt Avery and he would do anything to make it up for her.

"Well, its getting late. I should go before mom finds out." I say, getting up, brushing off the grass from my hands.

"Yeah, maybe you should." he says, and looks at me, his eyes slightly twinkling.

I feel a little nervous but I let it go. I get closer, and give him a hug. I was shocked at myself. I didn't know what I was doing but at the same time, part of me didn't care. It lasted for a minute or so and we tore apart. Will was a little red on the face. Of course, he wasn't expecting that. I really needed to control myself!

"I-I'm sorry. I just..." I say, thinking of something to say.

"I should..." he replies, pointing backwards. "go, yeah."

I nod, and walk back to the house. I wave at him, and he returns the favour. I climb back the back door and get inside my room, closing it. I lean on the door, my body slipping. I fall on my knees and slap myself on the forehead.

Why? Why can't I resist myself around him?

I get into bed, my thoughts swimming.
***
My phone rings right at the morning. I get up, worried that someone found out about last night. I grab the phone and my screen says "Chris". My hands shiver. It was just a hug. Nothing more. I calm myself down and press 'Talk'.

"Hello?" I spoke.

"Baby! Where are you?" Chris's voice chirps.

"Oh. I'm-I'm at home." I reply.

"Home? When are you coming over? Don't you remember? Will told us to come over to his apartment today."

"Oh, that. Yeah. Yeah, I remember. I'll come over in a jiffy." I lie. I did not realize I had to go today.

"Great. Try getting Avery too, alright? She must be upset, but you're the only one who can convince her."

"Sure. Will do. Bye."

"Bye."

I cut the line and sit back. How the hell am I going to convince Avery? I speed-dial her number. She just has to come.

"Avery." I hear her say.

"Lena, here."

I can hear her mumble something. She's upset. Even now.
"What?"

"Avery, remember Will invited us to come over? We have to go."

"Why? I mean, if he can't understand my feelings, why should I come over?" Avery voice is ringing and it sounds like she's furious with Will.

"Because he loves you."

"If he does, he could have accepted marriage without any objection!"

"Please consider this situation again, Avery. Of course, marriage can be done but a little later. We're just in college now. We're not even old enough!"

"I ain't hearing anything."

The phone goes dead.

Chris

I woke up, showered, and hopped in the car to head over to Will's apartment. I sent him a quick text first.

Be over soon, dude.

I sped off towards his house, my mind preoccupied with what happened last night. My dad had called me yesterday morning and offered me a job working for him in construction and "other business" now that he was out of jail. It had kept me up last night. I didn't really want to work with him, but money was really tight at home, especially with me in college now.

Go through your options, Lena's words echoed in my head.

I sighed and pulled to a stop at a red light. I rubbed my temple with one hand, trying to think clearly. I reached over and turned on the radio, hoping that music would make me feel better.

I know I said it a million times... but I'll only stay with you one more night... Adam Levine sang.

I hummed and eventually belted out the song as I neared Will's complex. I was definitely feeling better now. I parked my car in the closest spot possible and jogged up the steps into the building, still singing under my breath. I rapped sharply on the door and Will quickly answered, looking a little disheveled.

"Hey Chris," he said, giving me a small smile.

"Hey," I said looking him over. He was dressed in a green T-shirt and black jeans that looked a little wrinkled and he obviously hasn't shaved yet or taken a shower. I was about to ask if something was wrong when I remembered last night. Riiiight, Avery and that ring...

"Come on in," he said, opening the door wider and stepping aside.

I walked in and sat on the couch. "Is Lena here yet?" I asked after a slight pause.

He shook his head and sank into the armchair next to the couch. "Haven't heard from her."

"Oh, well I'll go call her then," I said, standing up and stepping into his kitchen. He simply nodded and closed his eyes, leaning back in the chair.

She picked up after the third ring. "Hello?"

"Baby! Where are you?" I asked.

"Oh. I'm-I'm at home," she said quietly.

"Home? When are you coming over?" I picked up an orange from the fruit bowl on the table and tossed it in the air a bit. "Don't you remember? Will told us to come over to his apartment today."

"Oh that. Yeah. Yeah, I remember. I'll come over in a jiffy!"

"Great." I paused and lowered my voice so Will wouldn't hear. Try getting Avery too, alright? She must be upset, but you're the only one who can convince her."

"Sure. Will do. Bye."

"Bye."

I hung up and walked back to the couch. Will hasn't moved.

"Lena sounded kind of funny over the phone," I sighed. "She sounded really nervous. Do you know if anythings wrong?"

Wills eyes snapped open with surprise. He looked at me out of the corner of his eye and shook his head.

I shrugged and leaned back into the cushions. After a minute of silence, Will got up and stretched with a groan. "I'm gonna take a shower, I guess. You can watch TV if you want."

I nodded and grabbed the remote next to me. I surfed through channels and finally settled on an old Family Guy re-run. Just as I set the remote down, my phone rang. Lena.

"Hey you," I said cheerfully as I answered the phone.

"Chris, we have a small problem," she said flatly.

After that day in the costume store, I was avoiding Jane. I hadn't responded after she suggested that Drake was the Father of Lacey's baby, and we'd dropped it. The suggestion was completely illogical- she'd had a boyfriend at the time, and though I hadn't seen him since I found out, I pressumed he was the one I found with her.

I was too confused that night to really tell, and Jane was right about that. I wanted to leave the whole stuation behind, but can't. I'm too curious, too nosy, and far too protective. I drown myself in other thoughts; in studying until my brain wrecks itself, in thinking about physcs until I can't think about it anymore. I'm so exhausted with everything, and its only been a few days.

I need a break, I think over my textbook, I need to call a friend, hang out with someone who isn't Lacey or Jane. I get up, stretching my legs with even the movement of walking- I'd been studying for roughy three hours, after all- and move to grab my phone. I scroll through my contacts, still standing up- Haven't talked to in ages, hates me, is Lacey, is Jane, became a party-monster, has a job...

God, I'm such a loser. I know I need to socialize more and that, since I started dating Jane, my few friends have drifted away. If I had a job, I could justify it, but was so obsessed with getting that Full Ride through Academics, I didn't have time to bother- and between Lacey and Jane, the rest of my time was pretty much consumed.

I look over at my text book, then back at my minute phone and the contact it was on. "Hey Abi? Yeah, how have you been? I was just wondering..."

*********

We met in the park, just after one- Abi brought snacks, meaning starfruit and homemade bread in Abi-Marie language. We sat on her colorful blanket- her Tia had brought it back from Brazil- and watched the people in the park go by.

"How's Lace?" Abi-Marie asks in between tiny bites of bread.

I'm looking around for Jane, vainly hoping that she's here so we can talk- and maybe me apologize for avoiding her- but also hoping she won't see me with my female friend, as I'm not sure how she'd take it. "Lacey? Better. She's accepted the situation by now; she's even kind of excited."

Abi-Marie is all smile. She adores my sister, being the other intelligent outsider to our group. In this town, minorities are minor, and we all have to stick together. "That's great! She'll make a great Mom, I'm sure."

"Now we have to convince her." Abi laughs, and I laugh too.

Abi-Marie's dark hair catches in the sunlight- she's rather the Brazillian beauty, but has never been my type. There's silence as I plunge my teeth into a passion fruit. "How's the girlfriend?"

I'm suprised- from my limited experience, Abi doesn't like Jane. "Very well, actually. We're on a coaster that only goes up."

She frowns, as if she doesn't believe me. "We miss you, you know. Sammy, Joy, Liam, Lynn, and I. We never see you anymore." They never saw me much to begin with, my 'group', but I don't bother telling her that. I take another bite into my fruit. Abi frowns again. "Well. I hope she loves you as much as you love her, that's all I'm saying."
I have loved the words and I have hated them. I only hope I have made them right.

What Allen said... he was right. So, before I could leave this in a bad place, I called out to him.

"I'm sorry. I guess it was my fault too." he just looked at me with shock. "I've never accepted it, but when I think about it... Its not only you. I was there too." I looked down at the ground, the asphalt the only thing I wanted to look at.

He stood silent for a moment, letting the words sink in.

"Look, Jane."

I looked back at him, my throat closing up. The way his eyes were so full of worry, I couldn't help but want to be closer to him. He seemed lost, looking everywhere but at me. A cold rush of wind passed by us, making me shiver.

"Let's just forget about all of this. Move past it." I said.

"Right," he took a deep breath. "That's a good idea,"

There was a short pause, so awkward I wanted to leave.

"I guess I'll see you around." I tried to smile.

"Yeah..."

Turning on my heel, I started to walk off. Even though I knew he wouldn't call after me, I still hoped that he would. As I kept walking, he didn't do anything. So, I turned back and saw no one. He left.

I had to apologize to Emmett.

Picking through my pocket, I found my phone. Dialing Emmett's number, I had to wait a while for him to answer.

"Jane?" his voice made my heart race.

Stopping my pace, I stood in the middle of my driveway.

"Hey," I took a breath. "Can we meet? I really want to talk to you."

After the quick shower, I got out into the living room. I wiped the towel over my hair and left it on my shoulder. The first thing that caught my eye was Chris and Lena kissing. The burnt feeling in my stomach? It felt worse right about now.

Lena pulled away and looked over at me. There was this disappointment going through my mind but I had to let it go.

"Avery said she couldn't come." Chris said, not noticing my reaction.

"Sorry,"

"Uh, no..." I walked over to the armchair and sat down. "I would've figured." The Avery thing at this moment really didn't bother me.

Chris held Lena's hand, looking at her. That was true love. That was freaking true love. The way they looked at each other. Damn did it hurt. Avery and I... we don't have that anymore. Not ever since that fight with my parents.

"I'll call her again... she should be here." Lena said quietly.

"No, it's fine. I'll go to her."

I couldn't even look at her.

"You go do that Will. You deserve each other. She's just rushing things... it's gonna be fine. You guys show true love man." Chris said.

"Yeah,"

***

"Ave, I wanna marry you."

She just gave me this blank stare that made me want to take back those very words. Actually, I never wanted to say them in the first place.

But she's the one. And I know that. I'm just afraid of commitment.

Her house was always inviting, her parents loved me so they trusted us being alone. At least there was that somewhere.

We stood in her bedroom, the sun as bright as ever shining through her windows. Fall seemed so far away but it was right now.

"Are you serious...?" she was quiet.

Taking a deep breath, I said. "Yes,"

A huge smile grew on her face as she ran up to me, squeezing every part of me. She kissed me, long and hard. But, it felt different. Wrong. I pulled away, looking at her face. So close, so... perfect. I kissed her again, trying to feel what I felt just months ago. All I could picture were big blue eyes.

"I have to go," I pulled away, rushing to the door.

"Where?"

Before I could answer her question, I rushed out the door and to my car. I hopped in, and started to drive.

Mid ride as OneRepublic sung on the radio, I thought about what I was doing. The red light was very convenient. I can't do this.

She loves Chris. She has him. She doesn't want me. I can't even have her... I'm getting married. Jesus Christ.

I'M GETTING MARRIED.

I need to tell her what I feel because maybe it's just a phase and I'm just imagining it. And when I tell her, it'll be wrong, feel wrong. It'll be for sure known as a phase then. I'll know, that yes, Avery is the one. That yes, I was just being a person, afraid of commitment.

That's just stupid.

Slamming my hand against the steering wheel, I didn't notice I hit the horn until it went off. I jumped, but I noticed the green light and went off. I decided to stop at Chris's. Bad idea. Especially if I want to tell Lena something I shouldn't in front of him.

***

"Great you decided to stop by. Now you can help me tell my dad off." Chris laughed, handing me a can of coke.

"Of course," I smiled.

"I know this may sound weird..."

He sat down on his bed next to me, the smile off of his face. That made me start to worry.

"Yeah?" I asked.

"Lena has been acting off lately..."

Lena

After Will left, Chris relaxed himself on the sofa, turning on the television. We promised Will we would wait but he said we could leave whenever we liked. But being a friend, me and Chris kept out word to staying. I was thinking about deeply the kiss we shared a few minutes back. Somehow, it didn't feel the same. I tried to get myself all worked up but not even a part of me turned me on. Instead, my body was telling me to back off from him.

And now, Will was going to meet Avery. Some part of me doesn't want him to get along with Avery but other part does. I'm so confused. I like Will but I don't want to hurt Chris. He was a humble guy, so true to his word. On the other hand, its Avery. She's my best friend. I would hate to see her angry on me. Her eyes so fierce, I know I can't take it. With my one intention, I could ruin everything I have now. But Will and I meet up quite a lot and its not easy to keep pretending I don't have any feelings for him. Its hard not to stare at him. Its hard not to get nervous around him.

I snap back to reality and realize I'm watching a baseball game for the past 15 minutes. The worst part is, Chris knows about it. I guess I just wandered off as usual. I look at Chris who seems amused at me seeing a game.

"So, you've started liking baseball?" Chris says with a grin, sliding next to me and putting a hand around my shoulder. His face is so close to me and I know I shouldn't be doing this. "I told you would like it. Baseball is... You know. A very hot game."

He puts his hand on my thighs and starts rubbing it gently. "And you know what? Its kind of hot here too."

"Chris, not now, alright?" I tell him, pushing him back but he comes back thinking I'm playing with him.

"Aw, come on..." He's got hold of my top's strap and rubbing lazy circles on my chest. He kisses me and then to my neck, but I can't take it. We're making out in someone else's apartment. And I'm making out with someone I don't like.

I push him back again and stand up. He looks up at me, confused. I clear it up for him.
"Chris, I'm not feeling too well. I'm having a slight headache. I think I'm going to go home. See you later."

I walk to the door and step outside, grabbing my car keys from my bag. Chris followed me, buttoning up his first few buttons which he removed while we were about to have sex.

"I'll drop you! Hold up, will you?" he says from my back and catches up.

I turn to him and shake my head. "I've got my car. I'll go, its okay. Thanks for the favour!"

He grabs my wrist and looks at me, his eyes fully worried. He knew I was lying. He knew it.

"Lena," he spoke, his voice a tad deep. "are you okay?"

I nod vigorously and get into my car. I turn it on. I can't face Chris anymore. I want to see Will. Tell him but I don't know how. I just have to. I greet Chris farewell and drive fast. I don't know where. I'm just driving. I don't bother to go home.

***

I end up in a pub, siting with a drink. I've been drinking for the past hour but I'm still conscious. I've not lost my mind, surprisingly. I've got a million calls from Chris already. A few from Will. And a hundred from Avery. I decide to call Avery. I wanted to know what happened between Will and Avery. I dial her number and in two rings, she picks up, her sound all jolly happy.

"Lena! Oh my gosh! Where have you been?! I tried so much!" she exclaimed.

"I've... I've been around. What's up?" I ask.

"You will not believe what happened. Will accepted to marry me! I told you! Our love is true!"

What?!

I'm not able to take the shock in. I think I've heard wrong. No. Not Will. I thought he would be sensible. I stay strong and I can hear Avery squeaking all her excitement out. But I can't hold on to the phone. I drop the phone, unable to hear any further. I grab another drink and another after that. I'm going to get drunk, be a horny bitch and roam around. I'm done with my present life. Time to start a new one.

I see a guy come sit next to me. His foot is tagging mine. I get up, go on to the dance floor knowing that he would follow me. He gets hold of my waist. I don't know who he is but I'm going to do it. I'm going to make out. No matter what. I press against him and he leads me to a couch, pushing me down. He removes my shirt and I unzip his pant. In seconds, we're making out, heavy kisses going over my chest. I knew, I'm done for but I don't care. I'm not going to get the guy I love. He's getting married.

Wow Choco. You write good. I swear I started to cry. :)

Will Franco

Lena was ignoring us. Why in the world would she do that? I at least thought she would answer my calls.

I paced through my apartment, half listening to what Avery was saying and half letting thoughts ruin my mind. I thought about ever situation that could happen to Lena, she could have gotten into to an accident. She could have got hurt. She could be drunk, on the streets, lost. Her ignoring us is not a I-just-have-no-time-to-talk-sorry it's something serious. But Avery wouldn't tell me what she said on the phone.

That's the only reason I invited my fi-fi-fi I can't even think it.

"Pink, yes, the flowers shall be pink and white. What do you think Will-y bear?"

She glowed, her smile big and eyes twinkling. I couldn't believe how happy she was. All of me wanted to crush that, I don't know why... it's just not fair that she's happy and I'm not.

"What did Lena say on the phone?" I hissed.

"God Will," she stood up, walking to me. "Can you forget about her? She's a big girl, she can take care of herself..."

"How'd she sound?"

"She's fine," Her voice got stern.

I looked at her and she looked back at me. She wasn't lying, she just wanted to avoid this topic completely.

"Anyway, she's Chris's responsibility, not yours honey." she ran her hand down my arm which I flinched away. It was a reaction I couldn't control. Her eyes got big with worry as she looked at my arm.

"Sorry..." I cleared my throat.

"Go,"

Looking at her for conformation, she smiled and nodded. "Go, look for her. You're not gonna go over wedding plans in this state. But just bring her here, I want to tell her the big news! In person, it'll sound better."

I didn't catch the last part as I ran out the door. She gave me permission to find her, I feel like that means something. My heart was racing, hoping I'd find her. All I wanted was to see her face. I hopped into my car and headed off.

First, I checked everywhere I'd think she was. The park, library, gym. Next, I hit the odd places she'd never think of stepping into. After an hour, I was starting to feel a loss of interest in looking. But my heart was telling otherwise.

I kept on calling her, begging for her to answer. Nothing. I caught sight of this pub. I used to go there with my dad. Us being part Irish, every Saint Patty's we went there. Why not grab a soda and talk to the owner. Maybe they'd consider sponsoring my bar. I parked on the street, right in front of it. Locking to car, I hopped out and headed to Patty's Pub. It smelt of beer and crumpets, oh the memories.

The only time I ever got along with my father was at this place. Swear. I walked in, looking at all the familiar sights. The marble bar top, big glass beer mugs. The dance floor covered in sweaty drunkhards. It was amazing really. I want to own a pub like this, making my own beer like the owner.

"William!" A Scottish accent sprung.

I turned around and saw the owner, Frankin O'Piere. He was smiling, holding two mugs full of beer. I walked up to him, smiling. He put down both beers and shook my hand.

"Long time no see 'son."

"Yeah..."

"Sit down, 'will 'ya? I'll get back to you. Gotta deliever."

He grabbed the beer again and walked into the dance floor. I watched him go, but as I looked I saw a girl and this guy on the couch. They were so heavy into each other that I could believe that them having sex here wouldn't surprise anyone. Her top flew off as he started to kiss her chest. Thta's when I saw who it was.

My throat closed up and I faced the bar again. No. I looked all this way, I have to go to her. But no again, she seems fine.

And drunk.

She doesn't know what she's doing.

Before I could do anything, Franklin came back with a tray full of empty glasses.

"I'm shocked these aren't broken yet." he laughed.

"How much has that girl had to drink?" I pointed at Lena.

His mouth shut, surprised at my question.

"Why'd you ask?"

"She's... she's my friend. I need to know if she's drunk."

"She had about five beers and a shot of vodka. I remember. She's crazy." He started to laugh again.

I stood up, walking toward the couch.

"I would't do that son!"

Once I got to them, I pulled the guy off of her. He was surprised, not protesting but then when I managed to get him off, he started to fuss.

"Chill dude, you're drunk. You ain't getting nowhere with that." I smiled.

He tried pushing me but all I had to do was push him slightly and he stumbled onto the floor. I faced Lena, and I couldn't stand the anger in her eyes. It was bad.

"How could you?" the venom in her voice frieghetened me.

She stood up, barely, and headed for the way out. I grabbed her wrist, trying to pul her back.

"Let me go." her voice, stern.

I let her go and she headed out. I just followed after, knowing she can't go anywhere. Even though she was drunk she knew she couldn't drive. Once we were outside, the cold air brushed past us, she kept her pace quick and she walked down the sidewalk.

"Lena," I said.

"Don't speak to me." she stopped though, as if waiting for me.

I said nothing else and she started up her walk again. I followed her, a few beats behind but there, I knew she'd be safe. My heart hurt seeing her in this much anger. Pain. Trying to catch up, I managed as we reached a bridge.

There was a river down here, pretty small but there. I grabbed her arm again and she jumped, ready to fight me off. When she turned to me, she calmed down a bit.

"Don't scare me." she couldn't even look into my eyes.

"Lena, what's going on?"

That's when she just stared into my eyes and I stared back. Her eyes were a blue I had never seen before. A special blue that anywhere I went, I knew those were hers. That's when she shut her eyes and I shut mine. I knew what was going to happen, I feel like I should stop it.

Our lips touched. It felt like the world was finally being fair, right. She was warm and inviting, her lips soft. We kissed, I believe for too long for us to kiss. Especially in the situation we were in. She pulled away first, trying not to look at me.

"That's what's wrong," her voice was distant. "That's what's going on..."

I pulled her in again, missing the electricity I felt. It was brilliant, to kiss her.

Lena

When I kissed Will, it was like I didn't want anything else in my life. Just him to be close to me. I just want to be in his warm chest, his hands around my waist. I didn't want someone who was obsessed with sex like Chris. Each time we were alone, he tried making out with me. One of the reasons why I didn't like Chris but Will was different. He didn't take advantage of anything. He was so loving and kind.

We pulled away, my hair backing off from his shoulder. I looked to the ground but I knew his gaze was fixed upon me. I smiled and faced him.

"I love you, Lena." he said in a small voice.

My insides which were frozen a few minutes back, melted when he said those words. But I was scared. Were we still going to be pretending in front of Chris and Avery? Both of us knew, we couldn't. Now, that we've even kissed, not a chance.

"I know what you're thinking..." he said, grabbing my hand and we walked to his car. "Avery and Chris."

I nod. I couldn't say anything more. My voice was tight but I was so happy that I was still confused. What was the plan?

"Are you going to tell Avery?" I ask.

My phone rings and I dig my pocket to pick up.

"Hold on a sec." I tell Will. "Hello?"

"Lena, is Will with you?" I hear Avery's voice, furious.

"Uh-yeah. He is." I say. I did not want to lie.

"Chris, she's with Will! I told you I had seen them!" I hear Avery voice blaring behind the phone.

I look at Will, worried. What had Avery seen? I didn't even want to think about it. Will lets go of my hand and looks to the side. I follow his gaze. The phone had gone dead. I put it back and look. I see a tall, built guy and a girl with him.

Chris and Avery.

Will moves a few metres away from me. This cannot be happening. Avery didn't see us kissing, did she?!

I'm sure that Avery didn't see us kiss. Nor did Chris. It's too dark to see anything really. I just wish they didn't show up. That'd give me time to think.

"Will, thank God you found Lena! I was getting so worried." Chris came up to us, smiling in relief.

"Avery told me you went looking for her..." he pulled Lena into a tight hug. "Oh God Lena, don't do that to me."

The thing was, she was still under the influence so her true emotions showed way more than what she faked. So instead of hugging him back, she sort of pushed him away. He was shocked, his eyes widening.

"Are you okay...?" Chris asked as we all looked at her.

"Yeah, just a little tipsy, that's all." she tried.

"Why don't I take you home?"

I just realized Avery was staring at me the whole time. The. Whole. Time. No reaction toward Lena, just me. It was frightening, yes. I looked back at her, trying to change her focus. Off of me. She didn't, still managing to make me shiver.

"Yeah," Lena made the right decision by making Chris take her home. Now we don't look suspicious or anything, I hope.

"Ave, we should go too."

She just looked at me. I took that as a 'okay, let's go.' and started my way to my car.

***

It was torturous. Avery said nothing during the entire car ride. She didn't even tell me if she wanted to go to my place or her home. Seriously. What was the matter with her. The tension she set off was unbearable. The hairs on my body stood up the entire ride.

So, I took her to my apartment. She walked up the steps, getting into the apartment. No words came out of her mouth and she got into the bathroom. I swear if I made one wrong move, she'd blow my head off. So I just locked the house and waited for her on the couch.

She came out. Walked up to me. Sat down. Silent. Furious. I knew she was furious. I mean, you could feel her anger. That bad.

"Avery, what the fuck is going on with you?"

"You don't want to marry me."

I swallowed hard, looking ahead of me at the blank TV. Her voice made me not want to look at her face. I mean just hearing how angry she was made me not want to see it.

"Where'd you get that idea?" I was quiet.

"Lena," she said her name like she would say a curse.

"Ave, that makes no sense."

"You kissed her." Now I felt my blood run through my head. All those thoughts are horrifying. "Now why would you want to marry me if you kissed her?!"

Help me God.

"Will. I can't believe you would do this to me..." her voice was cracking up.

I finally looked at her. Her eyes were drowned in sorrow. Tears streamed down her face. And anger pushed through that. Her jaw was tight as she looked at me. My heart sank, I hurt her. I really hurt her.

"She was drunk..."

"So what? Doesn't mean you could use her like that!"

"I didn't use her! She used me!" I yelled.

Ave stood silent for a moment, taking in what I had just said.

"And how did she use you?"

"She was drunk... and she thought that she could just kiss me. Like it would be an 'oops that was a mistake' act. Then, after she kissed me, she said she liked me a lot. I told her it couldn't be true."

"She fucking likes you?"

I took her hands in mine, noticing that she wasn't resisting. Looking at her face, I saw a sort of confusion round her eyes. I just wanted to fall in love with her again. I thought that thing with Lena was a weird phase, but it wasn't. I had to lie my way out of this one.

"Look, it's a phase. She thought she did. After she said that, she started to laugh. She didn't believe herself. It was a phase of sorts. She's over that. Seriously. It was a drunk-phase-mistake Avery."

Taking in the information full of lies after lies after Lies after LIES after LIES after LLLIIIEEESSS, Jesus my sub-conscious hates me right now, she smiled and looked at the floor.

"Lena was just lost. She had some tough times and I was trying to help her, you know me," I smiled as she looked at me. "She just thought I was thinking that I would land her that way and so she liked me for that... it's an honest mistake."

"If she was going through something, I think she would tell me." her voice was soft.

"This time she couldn't, so she relied on me. I guess."

All she did was smile and pull me into a tight hug. "I'm happy you care for her," and my heart burned from hatred.
