Autumn's Beginning, Autumn's Breeze [2]

Christian

As we entered my house I frowned, surely she didn't mean the mages tower? Evil mages taking over that would be bad...I needed to talk to my uncles too...

"Now you see," I said sitting her down, "we're involved anyways, we would've had to go help the mages who were trying to save the tower anyways. Now we can stop it."

She sighed, "I knew-"

"Its not your fault," I insisted.

Cara-

Cara rubbed Fire's head nervously.


Relax, you knew every last bit of the conversation by heart. You and your stupid great memory. Fire laughed,

Ya, but still, what if they don't believe me?

Christian sat next to Cara, she was shivering he could feel it. "Are you cold?" he asked. She nodded slightly. "Come on," he said, "the fire's lit in the living room. My parents and aunt and uncle will be over shortly."

She nodded and followed him into the living room. They sat down on the couch and Christian couldn't help but stay close to her. Out of all the things he had always wanted with his life, to go somewhere, to do something important, to be something extrodinary, all that was pushed away. All he wanted now, was her.

Cara-

Cara looked into the fire and sighed, "Won't they be angry I didn't tell someone before?" She asked looking at Christian. Fire laid next to where she was sitting watching Christian.



*GGRRRR SHORT**

Christian

I shook my head, "Who would you have told?"

She shrugged.

"You didn't know who you could trust."

"How did I know I could trust you?"

"Have I done anything to hurt you?"

"No..."

I couldn't resist the urge to kiss her forehead, "that's how you knew."

Cara-

Cara blinked once, then blinked again. A rumble started up in Fire's throat but he stopped shook his head, and laid it back down closing his head.

"B-but, still I'm a total stranger, how will they know to trust me?" She asked not wanting to look at him hoping he didn't see the complete blush on her cheek.

Christian

She tried to hide it, but she was blushing. "My cousin found a spell that will tell us immediatly if we can trust you."

She looked interested instead of phased, "really?"

I nodded, "its kinda like a truth telling spell, he casts it on you, and if we ask if we can trust you and we can you say yes, if not you say no and we stop believing you."

"Like trusted as in telling the truth?"

I nodded again.

Cara-

Cara sighed, "Alright, but does it just count on the one thing or on everything?" She asked,

I can't tell them everything. She said rubbing Fire's head.

And you wont, don't worry. He purred in her mind.

Christian

I tilted my head to the side, "what do you mean?"

"The trust thing, does it count for this or just in general?"

"I think just in general, if you're trustworthy, meaning we know you won't betray us, you'll answer yes."

She looked relieved. I didn't dare ask her why but I hoped someday she'd tell me for herself.

I turned when I heard a noise, my family had come.

Cara-

Cara looked up when she heard someone walk in the house. MAybe this wasn't such a good idea. They could find shelter before the storm was all over and Christian knew about the threat.

Chicken! Fire growled

"M-maybe, I should go, you know abotu the threat. That I way the mage can't hurt you and you can still stop their plans." She said standing up quickly.

Christian

I stood up and blocked her, "why are you afraid?"

"I-I'm not afraid."

"Liar," I blurted, "I can see it in your eyes."

"Fine, so I'm afraid! What's wrong wit that?"

I couldn't reisist the urge to hug her. "Nothing," I whispered, stroking her hair, "but you don't have to be afriad here. I promised to keep you safe."

"When we were flying."

"Promises don't have a time limit."

Cara-

Cara blinked surprised, promises alwyas seemed to have a time limit.

"B-but..." She started,,
hush before you make an idiot of yourself. Cara felt safe in his arms.

Christian

I looked down at her, she was staring at me like she was about to cry, "but what?"

"Promises always seem to have a time limit."

"Welcome to honerable country love," I said my face an inch from hers. I wanted to kiss her so badly. I had never wanted anything that badly before. It frightened me.

Cara-

Cara looked at him surprised, "T-there isn't such a thing, there can't be." She said, Fire pushed her away from Christian as people walked towards the door.

This isn't exactly how you want to meet these people, you just met him. Fire growled

Cara didn't want to leave Christian's grasp, but Fire was right.

Christian

I was almost desolate when Fire pushed her away from me, but I understood why, and it made me feel better knowing that Fire had pushed her away.

I explained the thing to everyone, keeping myself seated right next to Cara. They looked shocked.

"How did you find this out?" Uncle Natan said kneeling in front of Cara.
