Autumn's Beginning, Autumn's Breeze [2]

Christian

I felt her arms tighten around my neck and I sensed that she was a bit nervous, I tightened my hold on her. It was only a one minute flight back to the group with my convient short cut of flying.

"That was quick," she said when my feet hit the ground.

"Its amazing what wings can help you do," I said and sat her down. I got a good look at her face, I almost lost my breath. She was almost abnormaly beautiful.

Cara-

Cara for some reason didn't want to let go of his neck, but she did. Fire stood beside her leaning against her legs forcing them to not shake. She thanked him rubbing behind his ears on his favorite spot. She hadn't flown in years. She looked at his face to thank him and almost froze, she was drawn into his eyes. She blinked and looked away.

"Thanks." She smiled,

Christian

I could tell her legs were shaking, "your welcome."

I picked her up again and carried her over to a rock and sat her down. "Um...thanks?" she said.

"You looked like you were about to fall."

"Oh," she blushed.

She was so beautiful.

Cara-

Cara cursed herself inwardly for letting it show, the blushing and her legs shaking. Fire growled once then laid on the ground next to the rock.

"SO where have you gone, I mean you have wings, you must go everywhere possible." She smiled, "There are some places that must be beautiful from the sky." She knew a few that would look amazing, Fire even agreed that they did.

Christian

I sat down next to her, "no where really, I haven't ever really wanted to."

She tilted her head sideways, "why not?"

"I can't expect to get to know the whole world while I can't even remember the way around my own town. I figure I will go someday, but, I'm not that concerned about it now."

Cara-

Cara looked at him and frowned a little. "But there are so many pretty places. Don't you ever wish you could just get away from the normal routine of life and go see other places?" She asked, she had never had something normal, her and Fire had always been traveling. She dind't hate it, but it was nerver wrecking at times, especially when she ran into bands of men who only meant her harm. Some how she managed to get away every time, but she didn't like it none the less.

Christian

"Thats the thing about my life, I have no routine, but I'm always somewhere familiar with people I love." I motioned to the rest of my family, "with this lot, its everything but routine."

She looked at them longingly.

"What about you? Don't you ever want for things just to stay okay?"

Cara-

Cara didn't know how to reply, nothing had ever been normal. She always called being alive and with Fire ok. But she could tell that she ahd been missing out by not having a family, it had been years sense they had died, she had been six. She frowned at the thought,

"Things are always 'okay'." She smiled, "Y'all must be close. I don't think I've seen so many people my age playing with little kids. It's really cool." She smiled changing the subject.

Christian

"We are, we'd like to refuse but you've never seen Charlie's pouty face." I laughed. "Its too cute to ignore."

She laughed this time with me, her laugh was just as beautiful as she was. stop it Christian! he scolded himself she's an on the road person, she won't be around for long. But he couldn't help it.

"So how long do you plan on sticking around?"

Cara-

Cara swallowed, she didn't know. She couldn't get attached to anyone, trouble always showed up when she got comfortable and close to someone.

"I don't know." She said forcing a smile,

I thought we were only here to get supplies! Fire hissed,

Shut up She growled,

Christian

"Ah," I said trying not to look disappointed. "What brings you here anyways?"

"Supplies."

"Would you like me to show you the town?"

"..sure."

Cara-

Cara was surprised that he seemed disappointed,

Cara, we aren't positive we shook that mage thing, we can't stay here! Cara ignored him,

"That would be cool." She smiled jumping up. Fire growled at her and stood up streching his legs.

Christian

As we walked we continued with our small talk, nothing that would really depress either of us, mostly books and things like that. Before long we came into the town market, it was always kinda like a fair, a "game" or two to play here or there. But the games always required gambling, which I wasn't that fond of.

We passed a flower cart and while she was looking at a napsack I bought a rose without the thorns. When I returned to where she was I tucked the rose behind her ear.

Cara-

Cara jumped when she felt somethign slip behind her ear. She could smell the fragrance of the rose before she felt it's petals with her fingers. She spun around and saw Christian standing there.

"T-thanks." She smiled surprised,

We're not going to leave are we? Fire growled,

If he keeps this up I wont be able to. She replied,

But your putting him in danger. Fire replied, she blocked him out. She wasn't putting him in danger, they had shaken that mage really well. The only reason he was following her anyways was because he over heard some conversation that she didn't even care about.

Christian

I grimanced, I had made her uncomfortable. If she wasn't looking I would have smacked myself upside the head a good thousand times. "I made you uncomfortable didn't I?"

"N-no not really."

I felt relieved and I knew it showed on my face. I was never good at hiding how I felt, at least with the expression on my face. If I wanted to scream, I could control the urge to, but my face would tell the whole story.

We continued walking and talking over the noises.
