Autumn's Beginning, Autumn's Breeze [2]

Arabella--

Another Vampire? Would she recognize me as one...would she tell people....?? My mind raced nervously as I listened to Ramere's story. I figured that my fangs were sheathed, as he did not point them out to me -- perhaps he didn't want to...

"What about the other sense? Can you smell blood? Or are your sense hightened?" I asked, thinking of all my abilities.

Kayla

"Oh my," I gasped as I looked down, "its so beautiful." Yes! less stuttering! Oh I was so gonna gorge myself tonight, not only with food, but with every other luxary I could imagine.

"Isn't it? I love the view from up here."

"I can see why, somebody is waving at you."

He looked over at whoever it was, I don't think it was a realitive after how he went suddenly down. I clung to him tightly as he dove faster adn faster. Heights didn't scare me, going down didn't scare me, only people scared me, or so I thought, going down like this at these speeds, scared her. She was going to stutter again.

Caspan-

I cursed quietly under my breath, being pulled from the sky by some unseen force. The man on the ground, who was growing rapidly larger by the second, had something to do with it. I was sure.

I landed heavily, dropping Kayla as carefully as i could at the last second so not to be crushed as i did a somersault on the ground before springing to my feet. I spun to face the man, a bitter oath rising in my throat.

"Can I help you?" i asked angirly, shoving Kayla behind me and crossing my arms.

Where's the cheater when you need him? i asked myself, wishing that Ramere were here.

Kayla

When Caspan dropped me I at first was paniced until my head hit the ground and I saw him do a summer sault over me. I stood up quickly and he shoved him behind me.

"Let me see the girl," he demanded. I tried to step around so he could but Caspan wouldn't let me.

"Why?" he questioned.

"You don't look like the avian I spoke to earlier, I'm wondering if its a different girl as well."

Caspan-

"Why do you want to see her?" i asked again, suspicion edging into my voice.

"Because she might have overheard a conversation she shouldn't have." the man said. I instantly took him to be a mage, having lived around at least four for my whole life.

Oh, how i wished one of them were here now.


Ramere-

I shrugged. "Sure, i can run a little faster than most people, jump a bit higher. I can't smell blood in the way you can, though."

Suddenly I looked up, searching the skies. Then i cursed.

"Now where is he?" i muttered, glancing around.

Ramere! my father's voice rang through my head. I winced. Great, now, of course, i would be the one to have to go rescue him...

Ramere, something is wrong. There is another mage here, and his presence is not friendly. Where is Caspan?

Good question.

He cursed. Well, hurry and find him. We don't want anything to happen to him.

I snorted. Then, realising that i was doing this in the presence of another, i winced again and looked at her, feeling my cheeks redden slightly.

"Sorry...i was...er...talking to my father. He's a mage, so we communicate mentally..."

I hoped I didn't sound too crazy...

Arabella--

"I can't smell blood the way you can though," as he said this, I gasped. He had seen...

I ran my tongue along my teeth (inside my mouth) and found that my fangs were indeed out.

Ramere's facial expressions began changing for no reason. Suddenly he snorted.

"Sorry...i was...er...talking to my father. He's a mage, so we communicate mentally..." I nodded in understanding.

"Telepathic communication is always fun," I said conversationally.

Ramere-

I rolled my eyes. "Not with my family, it's not."

"Why?" she asked.

"We have at least five mages in our family. And they all seem to love talking mentally, which means some of the others pick up on that conversation, too. It's really annoying."

I raised my head again, searching for Caspan. He definitely wasn't in the sky. I cursed softly again.

"What?" Arabella asked, seeing my worried expression.

"Caspan, the avian that was with us earlier. I think he's in trouble...which wouldn't be the first time..."

Arabella--

"Oh...that's not good," I shook my head, and listened carefully. "I think I hear him though."

Ramere looked at me curiously.

"Heightened senses," I explained, listening again. "I think he's that way," I pointed.

Richard

The avian seemed to be worried about something, changing his expression quickly and without any apparent reason, before turning back to the girl, "Caspan, the avian that was with us earlier. I think he's in trouble...which wouldn't be the first time..." I cursed under my breath. Towns. They just attracted trouble.

The girl tilted her head a little, listening for something, "I think he's that way." She pointed, and the two turn to go in that direction.

"Before you fly off, I'm coming with you." He looked for a moment like he was about to protest, so I continued, "I know it's probably none of my business, but you can never have too much help. Besides, I'd just follow you anyway - wings or not, if you live in the wild for eleven years, you start to pick up things about tracking."

Kayla

I peered over Caspan's shoulder at the mage, "I've never seen you before in my life!" I exclaimed strangely not nervously. Which surprised me, I was scared out of my wits!

I now managed to step into the mage's view, I knew even Caspan could feel my nerves rising as the mage looked me over. I knew I was about to faint. Dots danced in front of my vision and blackness invaded. Then I was gone.

Cara-

Cara rubbed Fire's head not wanting to look at the others. She felt his hair stand up on end.

He's close. He growled, Cara felt a shutter run up her arm. She chewed on her lip, how was she supposed to tell them that the mage was getting close. They were all nervous enough waiting for the others to show up. She looked at Christian, Well, tell him you fool or I will.

"H-he's close." She muttered in a lowered voice. Would you stop acting all weird. Fire hissed, she ignored him.



***Where is Storm???***

Christian

"Don't worry," I said, pulling her closer to me, "you're safe here. He won't get to you." SHe didn't look convinced but I pulled her back down into the couch anyways. "If necessary, I'll become your meat sheild."

*Sorry thats all I've got*

Cara-


"Meat sheild?" She asked scrunching her nose up a little,



**I have nothing else.**

Christian

I laughed, "I shall throw myself on top of you or something so he won't hurt you." I didn't mention that it wouldn't do much good with a mage, she probably knew that but I was hoping the thought made her feel safer for now.

"But if one of you-"

"We won't get hurt," Mom said, "we've got experience dealing with troublesome mages and demons."

Cara-


Cara didn't like this very much, but if they said so. Plus, she liked the thought of Christian watching out for her. She leaned her head on his shoulder and looked at Fire, his eyes were closed which meant he was comfortable enough with these people that he didn't need to stay awake.

Goodnight, puppy. She laughed in his head.

GET OUT I'M sleeping peacefully for once. He hissed shoving her out of his head. She laughed to herself, he really trusted them.

"Fire trusts y'all. Though I doubt he will tell you." She said looking at Christian.
