I tried to at least look alive, but it was hopeless. The further we went from the apartment, the more distance that was put between me and Allan. I closed my eyes and began recalling the night I found him. I told him he was my slave, I owned him whether he liked it or not. I gave him a place to stay, to thrive more healthily, to be cared for, and to be loved. I loved him the minute I saw him. Whenever he was asleep, I would find myself praying to the gods to let me keep him. I gave him every ounce of my heart, but now it felt like he tore my heart and left the pieces on the ground to rot. Why tell me in a note that he loved me when he didn't come back at the moment I needed him most? Did he hate me more than I love him? It just didn't feel fair that he left without at least giving me comfort when I needed him most. I took a deep breath, opening my eyes. "I don't want it to be ten years or so from now when I see him again. I still need him now." I had to confess. "When you left, I sent him a note asking him to come back and hold me. Last night was the saddest rebirthday in my eternal lifetime. I was hoping he'd come back so I wouldn't feel so broken. I want you to honest with me. Do you think...do you think he hates me enough to ignore my letter to him when I truly needed him the most?"

I thought about his question for a moment taking in if he would possibly get the message if it wasn't for me killing him, the burdon of the guilt riddled me making me remember that Alan would never return if it wasn't for me. I tap my finger's on the stiring wheel as I kept my eyes on the road letting a moment of silence take over before answering.

"I doubt it truely, I've seen lovestruck fools such as yourself. And that kind of love doesn't just vanish into thin air, maybe he hasn't even gotton the message yet, you know the wind Fidelis. It's ever wild and rapent, who knows where that message could have gone. But I got a question, other than Alan, when was the last time you were ever in love?" I ask.

I sighed at this. "The last time I was in love, before I ever met Allan, was perhaps back at 1454 in Venice. I was employed by a rich family as a potter, but I fell for a young woman about Allan's age. She was a prostitute in one of the local brothels, freshly caught in the net of pleasing men who cared nothing about youthful women. I purchased her with a small amount of gold I had from employers past and had her as a mistress for some time. My current employers didn't even know I found myself a mistress, but then again mistresses were known as 'kept women' even back in the day.
"Anyway, she found me quite the gentleman. Caring for her like she was my own blood, only willing to play around with her whenever she felt comfortable, allowing her to roam around the city all day while I rested. She thought of me as some kind of magician when I showed her my talent for pottery. I had her as a mistress for...about six months at best. By the time she found out what I really was, I had to kill her with my own two hands so she wouldn't tell anyone about what I truly was. Hence why I don't take woman's blood. The blood of a woman reminds me too much of all the women I've made friends with but never made as a new generation. It was after the year 1454 when I made myself swear to the gods never to take the blood of a woman or a child. Children are the peak of innocence, which can drive a vampire mad after just one taste."

I chuckled at the last part due to how simply ironic it was for him to promise to never feed from a child or woman, I had my own little story to tell.

"It's funny how you brought up a promise to never drink a child's blood, back in 1754 I had a vampire servant that I had turned recently. I had yet to teach her how to hunt and survive and what to stay away from, but to my flaw, I forgot to teach her to stay away from children, forgot to tell her the danger's of drinking from a child. At first I didn't know she was doing it, but other servant's started to report strange behavior in the children of the village and how they had bite marks. I tried to reason with her and tell her the danger's. But she was to far gone to far crazed from child blood. I dealt with her after it became clear I couldn't save her, so I did the one thing I was capable of, hung her from atop my castle and let the sun do away with her." I said.

I felt pity for her. She had it worse than I did. "I myself have tasted innocent blood and someone else's bloodslave had to lock me away until I was sane enough to know right from wrong. That bloodslave who locked me away for the sake of my sanity was an ancestress of Allan's named Celeste. She was with child when I first saw her. Her master and his twin sister were the worst of vampires. They always fed off infants when they're newly born. I didn't want that to happen to Celeste's child, so I freed her from her master and his sister. Even though it's been four centuries and two decades back then, Allan's family owe me their lives. If I never freed Celeste, Allan would've never been born."

I looked at Fidelis for just a split second and then put my eyes back on the road. That kind of heroism was one of the key reasons I love Fidelis, maybe if he wasn't like that I wouldn't be here, Alan would be here.

"Well ain't you a hero, that's a pretty deep family history with Alan's family. Did you ever tell Alan of you're connection to his ansestor's?" I ask.

I nodded. "I have, days before I turned him. He and I were looking through the exhibits where most of my pottery was displayed. Celeste's master and his sister were commonly called the Bloodlust Twins. Because of my act of kindness and humanity, the Bloodlust Twins vowed revenge against me. They would've succeeded in taking Allan from me if I didn't kill them with a skewer. That was also the same weapon I used to kill the vampire who drained Allan near dead, forcing me to turn him just to save him." I sighed. "I couldn't let him die then. I loved him too much to let him die."

Fidelis seemed to lighen up as I got him talking more and more, which was a relief on my end for sure. We soon come to a large open valley that I reconized from previous vists here, in the distance was a large castle that was from the mid evil era when a time of magic was great.

"Ha, I prefer our enternal grandfather's method of killing, impalment pit's and spear's, it's how I usually dull out my killing when feeding is out of the question." I said.

I cringed again. "That's a little humane to me. If feeding was ever out of the question, I pass the time by doing pottery and napping. I don't kill mortals out of boredom. If there are any mortals I'd rather kill, it'd be criminals. I do that for the sake of society. The city's crime rate's been going down steadily for the past seven years, thanks to me." I felt a little proud of that. At least I did my part in modern society by feeding on criminals, even if no one could see me at night while I'm at work. "Besides, I think Dracula had one drop too many of innocent blood. What did the villagers ever do to him?"

"Oh no, I don't mean regulear innocent's I mean crimnal's. You know I have a deal going with a higher up that works in a maxium security prison, and he sends me crimnals that are on death row. Legally I can't be doing what I do, so we keep thing's quite. I get my dinner of criminal's and the police doesn't have to deal with them anymore. It's a win, win deal for me and the higher up." I said.

We soon pull up to a massive draw bridge that was slowly lowering down, when it finally does I drive on in and go into the parking lot of the castle.

I got out and grabbed my suitcase. "Then I don't have to worry about going hungry during my stay. I could feed off two male criminals a night, maybe three if I get lucky." I straightened out my cape. "I don't get that lucky these days. Most of the time, I fool around with my prey until they go insane. The adrenaline in the blood shoots through my veins and keep me wide awake until the sun begins to rise. Trust me. I speak from experience. Once you get them jolting, their blood jolts you back in return. Think of the blood of the insane as a vampire's version of coffee."

We walk inside finally glad to be home, were in the main floyer of the castle as I stop in the middle of the room, I clap my hands twice in the air.

"Kenia come here!" I call out.

A girl who looks about nineteen year's old quickly comes down the stair's in a hurry she stands in front of me at the posistion of attention.

"I trust that my castle has faired well, and that routines have gone on as normal no?" I ask here.

"Yes Madam Des, I have ensured that all has gone well in you're absence. A few deal's must be looked into ASAP, cause a few girls have requested to renegocieate there deals with you Madam." She says.

"Right, I like you to meet someone of critacal importance, this is Fidelis Nemisis, a Vampire King and special guest with us here. Fidelis, this is Kenia Balazar, despite her look's shes about a millenia old. Shes a vampire like me and you, and can be trusted," I said.

I studied Kenia. She reminded me a little of a young woman I came across two millennia ago in Jamica. A rather spirited soul, but not spirited enough to please me. "I hope so. I have ink in my suitcase and really don't want any of it to get on my clothes. There's blue, red, and India ink in here that are a few centuries old and extremely hard to removed from clothes. Not to mention they're used for me to write, since I always write with a quil."

"Yes sir, worry not sir we servant's of Madam Des will aid you any way possible. Now I hope you don't mind, I'll take you're thing's for you to your Vencian- style room." She says.

She takes Fidelis' thing's and heads up stair to the right, I turn to Fidelis and take a careful look around taking in my old home once more.

"Would you like a tour around? A big place like this I'm sure you'll get lost in at some point." I ask.

I smirked with a raised brow. "I lived in a palace twice as big as this place inside when I was mortal. It won't be easy for me to get lost in this place, once I know my way around. A runabout would do me good, just in case I'm wrong." I wasn't joking. My childhood home was maze-like to most people, but I knew secret passages to use whenever I got in trouble. It was a gift and a curse, since I often ran into theives back in my childhood while walking in the secret passages.
