I had to admit, I was impressed. However, any vampire would've known those answers, considering that I was still the reigning vampire King. I had one more test for him that only the true Allan would know of. "Two weeks ago, I was detained on the charge of kidnapping. You broke me out, we faked our deaths, then had a run-on with the Bloodlust Twins. After being found not guilty on a crime I never commited, I took you back home and we were discussing what to name you around fellow vampires. Silver, the reigning vampire Queen's bloodslave, was the witness of the event. I gave you a name that we agreed on together." My heart ached at this, but it had to be done. "What was that name I gave you which completed the seal that I still owned you?"
Look down and show some mercy if you can.
Look down, look down, upon your fellow man.

Arlan

My lips flash a smile without my consent, relieved by the question. My own name passes through them.

"Arlan," I almost whisper.

Promise.

I feel a burden lifted slightly at the answering of his question, something within me at peace knowing that I'm in the same room as him.

I covered my mouth with a gasp. It was him, my sacred treasure and promise from the gods. I looked in his eyes. Deep in the dark pupils was the beloved Allan my heart held dear. When I uncovered my mouth, I started shedding blood from my eyes. "Oh good gods, it truly is you." I held him in a gentle embrace, blood pouring from my eyes. I was overjoyed that he came back for me, just when I was almost close to giving up.

He embraces me and I can't help but cry of joy too. Guilt surfaces as well and leaves me holding him back tightly, afraid that I'd say or do something to have him let me go as I had before.

"Sorry," I sob hysterically, "So sorry."

I felt his arms hold me tightly, the embrace I've waited for in a long time. I set my head on his shoulder. "I knew you'd come back. I almost thought you wouldn't. My sleep was fitful yesterday and I had such a horrible dream. In my dream, Anubis came to visit me and gave me your shirt. He told me you died. I knew it wasn't true. I just knew it." I looked at him in the eye. "Why didn't you come when I needed you most? I was shedding blood over losing my sisters and you weren't there to comfort me in my time of mourning. When you didn't come, it felt like you hated me."

I look him in the eyes and open my mouth to say something. No words come. I close my mouth and swallow, unsure as to what he expects me to say. Bringing a hand to my head, I hope he understands.

"Memory," I shake my head, "Foggy."

I swallow again and take out the other letter, showing him. I point to two words in particular.

Love you.

I put my hand on my heart. His memory wasn't any good, but he still loved me. I took his hand. "Since your memory's foggy, I could lift the fog with you. I remember our time together perfectly. I could recall whatever you need to remember. All you have to do is ask. Come now, my apprentice. We have much to make up for." I led him to my room, then sat down in a chair. "As I said, all you have to do is ask."

I smile, following him up to a bedroom and sitting at his side.

"As I said, all you have to do is ask." He says.

I glance around as I form my response.

"Everything," I look back at him, "Everything's foggy."

I closed my eyes to concentrate. "Your human name was Allan, the son of a rather rich couple. You were in a local garden one night with two friends of yours when I first met you. I was so hungry, I killed those friends of yours to get me sane. When I saw you and inspected you, I found you as a sacred treasure and claimed you as my bloodslave. Four and a half weeks later, I took you outside to take a walk and got detained on the charge of kidnapping. It was the day after that when you broke me out and we both faked our deaths to keep the local law away from us. Minutes after that, the Bloodlust Twins abducted us and took us to the Queen for a trial in hopes of taking you from me as revenge for freeing your ancestress Celeste. The Council and the Queen found me not guilty, so we took a three-day walk home. Agreed between us and witnessed by the Queen's bloodslave Silver, I gave you the name Arlan to protect you from other vampires who would try to steal you. When the Bloodlust Twins came to take you in spite of the Council's veredict, I used skewers to kill them and came back to you with clawmarks all over me. You fed me in front of your mother and stepfather.
"One day, I went out for a walk on my own and heard you scream. I killed the vampire who was attacking you and had to turn you to save you. I began training you and teaching you what I knew about being a vampire. It was a week after we first began training when I tried teaching you how to lure a woman into coming to you. That was when we encountered Delariva, who was courting me for three thousand years. After she spent the day with us, you left me while I was napping. You left me a note that tore me apart, so I sent you a note asking you to come back and hold me while I mourned the loss of my sisters. I tried to wait for you to come, but Delariva insisted I move here." I opened my eyes. "So now, here we are."

I listen, nodding when he's finished, and look down. So much I draw blanks on...

"I'm sorry," I say again, not sure how else to fill the silence.

I was probably signing my death warrent by doing this but, I followed behind and eventually came to Fidelis room. They went in and I soon followed behind, I crossed my arms and leaned against the wall. I stayed quiet for the most part, they sobbed and cried. But one thing was still a mystery, how was he alive? I cleared my throut and spoke up.

"So if this really is Alan, or Arlan, or whatever you go by now. He's still a fledgling and with the two of us here, the learning possiblites could be endless. I could teach him the best way swoon over a woman, and you a man." I said.

I let the silence set for the moment and let it all sink in, but then continued onwards hoping I wouldn't trigger any repressed memories of me killing him or at least attempted to kill him.

"With the knowledge of the two of us, he could become the best hunter out there. Better than you Fidelis, better than me." I said.

I patted his shoulder. "I've missed you so much since you left. My pottery was becoming more and more like I had no talent at all until recently." I took out the newly fired clay chalice. "I made this when I was about to give up. Something just clicked inside me and this became the result. It's from the Middle Ages, if I remember correctly." I set the chalice on the counter. "I know you're sorry for hurting me, but don't do that to me again. Normally I should be the one breaking hearts, not the one who's broken. I don't want to be hurt again. I just don't." I looked at Delariva. "He could best me at hunting, I'll admit, but he's still my pottery apprentice."

"He could best me at hunting, I'll admit, but he's still my pottery apprentice." He said.

I chuckle as I watch out the window, the night was cool and refreshing. My feel the wind go though my hair, I turn around and walk over to the door, my heels clicking against the ground. But before walking out I turn back to Fidelis.

"Do you want him to have his own room or does he stay in the same room with you?" I asked him.

He looks hard towards the ground but then back up towards me, his eyes wonder a bit around my body. And I knew he was checking me out now. Which made me blush slightly.

"I'll have him stay in here with me if you don't mind." He says.

I nod and walk out the door, making my way to m room and open the door suddenly as Kenia was fully dressed. I go over to my three dressing table to apply my make up. As I talked with Kenia.

"How was you're sleep?" I ask.

"Pleasent, even better after last night." She chuckles.

I chuckle myself as we go on with girl talk as we both apply our make up.

I listen to the two of them, slightly bothered by being spoken about in third person, but say nothing. Not that my opinion is needed, which isn't so bad. I don't like talking. I don't like being reminded of my impediment.

Fidelis says I will be staying with him in his room and I flash a smile, relieved. I'm not so sure how well I would sleep knowing that he's under the same roof but not in the same bed. I keep quiet after Delariva leaves, still unsure as to what to say. I was never good at that kind of stuff.

Once I was sure Delariva was gone, I took Arlan to my bed and sat there behind the canopy with him on my lap. "You and I had kissed each other once, then twice, but that was it. The first time I kissed your lips, it felt like I was caught in some kind of intimate passion. My first taste of your lips against mine, it was unforgetable." I laid down with him in my arms and set his lips on my neck. "You might not remember, but you tasted my blood before you left me. If it helps refresh your memory more, taste my blood like you did the first time. Take it slow, but don't take too much to kill me."
