Fidelis

I didn't know how to answer that. "I don't know either. Regardless, I can't kill you, your wife, or Allan. I may not know much about your side of the family apart from Allan and Celeste, but I know you and Allan owe me your lives. My act of humanity and kindness towards Celeste gave her child a chance to have descendants. If I didn't act out of humanity and kindness, you or Allan wouldn't be alive at all."

Allan

I listen, wondering how my father would respond.

"I see. And I see that there is no way out of this, is there? My son is to stay with you." He says.

Fidelis

I nodded. "He chose me because he knows I'd starve without him." I heard another heart beating from Silver's closet. "You brought your wife with you, but she's hiding in the closet. I know she's in there because I can hear her heart beating. I understand she's scared of me, but I'm actually harmless. I'm quite harmless unless I'm hungry, which I'm not."

Allan

I sit up, hearing that my mother is there. Why would she hide?

"You can't blame her," My father says, "After what we saw and heard, you can't blame her for hiding."

Fidelis

"I understand that completely. Whenever I try to hold a woman in my arms, she runs away from me screaming. Believe me. It's still hard to at least attempt a proper courtship. For one as old as I am, courtship has become a very big problem." I looked at where the closet was. "Don't be afraid. I won't hurt you. Besides, I'm on a diet."

Allan

I can't say i like the idea of anyone else but me in his arms, but I dismiss the thought. I hear a door open and assume it's my mother.

Fidelis

I watched Allan's mother sit down next to her husband. Knowing better, I kept my hands to myself. "I don't know if anyone told you, but the both of you make such a divine couple." I took a breath and got a little serious. "Of course, I don't really know much about Allan's background. You, being his parents, could tell me about him. Although I should already know, I don't."

Allan

I sigh and prepare.

"What exactly do you want to know?" My father asks.

Fidelis

I sighed. "His family life. His childhood and adolescent life. The life he had before I came along."

Allan

"Well, he was trouble from the moment he was born," I hear my father say, "He got into everything. We often found him in the pantry when he was little, standing in a pile of goldfish or something. When he got a little older, things worsened. He was okay until the end of middle school, I believe. We think that's when he got into drugs and alcohol.
"He became more moody and got a little short tempered after that, barely coming home once he got his license. God only knows what he did when he left.
"We got him off the alcohol at some point last year, but he couldn't get off the drugs. He wasn't addicted, just liked them too much to get rid of. But then he stopped coming home. It took us two weeks to realize he was missing."

Fidelis

I was surprised at what I heard. Allan was a wild boy before I came along. Now that I've waltzed into his life, he's been tamed. I, a vampire and potter, tamed a wild boy. "During his first two weeks in my care, he didn't seem to cause any trouble with me. Almost went into my pottery room once, but that doesn't really count."

Allan

I smile, wondering what he's thinking about it.

"You're kidding, right?" My father asks. "That doesn't sound like him at all."

Fidelis

I smiled lightly, careful not to show my fangs and frighten Allan's mother. "When I talk about most people, I never kid. In my opinion, I might've tamed him during his stay with me. You give me impression that he was a wild one before I came along. Ever since I took him in, he obeys even the kindest of requests. It's like I tamed your wild son and didn't even know it until now."

Allan

I smile again and wait for a response.

"I guess so," My father lightly laughs. "Well, maybe this situation isn't a bad thing if you keep him on the straight and narrow."

Fidelis

I nodded. "As far as I can tell, he only taken what was good for his health. I made sure of that by using up small bits of my fortune to buy good foods and bottled water. Not once did I buy liquor or anything that was bad for the blood. Besides, my actual age doesn't do justice to my physical age. I look like I'm Allan's age, but I'm older than I look." I thought it over. "You both were there at the prison when I was questioned, right? When I told the ones questioning me that I knew their game and wasn't going to break?"
