Winged Ones

Kaylee:

"No wolves move with that kind of conviction on their own. And don't bet your life on it, please, we want to keep you here," Blaise said, giving me a soft smile. I gave him my own smile and said "Thanks. But it's definitely them." Pointing to my leg I said "They don't do that and come back for more after we run, well, fly."

I again looked around at the injured people and muttered "We need to do something to get them off of our backs. And I also believe we need to make camp up here for a while, at least until they all heal."

"And you heal, Kaylee." Shaking my head I said "No, I'll take longer than they will, with all these bites I'm probably going to relearn how to walk. No one else is as bad as me but I'll be okay, just so long as they get better."

Pushing myself up with my arms I scooted a little closer and whispered "We need to fight them. If we don't they'll never leave us alone."

Blaise

Pushing herself up with her arms, Kaylee came closer so only I could hear her and whispered, "We need to fight them. If we don't they'll never leave us alone."

"In this condition, though?" I whispered back. "And not everyone will, even if they can. Remember Cali-" I winced at the memory of our dead friend, dead from sickness, and continued, "-Cali, he didn't want to fight. He wanted to live in peace with anything thath came at us. We don't know everyone here well enough to know if they'll do the same thing."

"But it's urgent," Kaylee said. "Should we make an announcement? Ask everyone for a vote?"

"Why a vote? You'll do it anyway," I said, laughing. "And let's make a camp first, anyway. Then when we're healed we'll bring it up."

Kaylee:

"We need to find or make some shelter. We need more weapons. We need medicine." I gave a sigh "Wow, this is going to be difficult, especially with so few of us able to work for long periods of time."

I gave another frown "We have to start all over again."

My thoughts depressed me. Thoughts of Cali, thoughts of all the wounded people, thoughts of the cruelness of humans.

Blake

After Michel brought me to the mountaintop, he helped me bandage up. Which was nice of him. Since I was solid on the ground, and my leg was bandaged, I was doing much better.

I walked over to see how Kaylee was doing; she was obviously the worst off of all of us. When I neared I heard her and Blaise talk of what to do. So far all they had talked of was ways to fight. I sat down by them.

"So you think that's our only hope," I said. "Wait and rest, then fight, even though they'll still outnumber us?"

"It seems so," said Blaise.

"No," said Kaylee, rather nervously. "Not our only hope." She looked at me a gravely.

"You don't mean...," I trailed off.

"Yes," she said. "Plan Miracle."

"Wait," said Blaise. "What is plan miracle?" He looked between us.

A few years back, I walked in on Kaylee and a few older--now deceased--winged ones talking about Plan Miracle. It was called such because it would take a miracle to pull it off.

I gulped.

"Plan Miracle," I began. "is only for the absolute desperate." As we are now I reminded myself.

"Basically, it calls for us to venture out into the human world, disguised as humans."

Corbin~

I stared at Blake. I had silently been listening to their conversation (something that I love doing. It helps me keep up to date. I never gossip about what I hear so it's not like what I'm doing is wrong. Right?) and I had over heard something that I didn't want to believe.

"Disguise ourselves as humans?" I asked, making sure that I had heard right. "There is no way that I can ever hide these huge things," I said spreading my wings to their full length.

Blake

I looked over at Corbin, who had apparently been eavesdropping. I would have been annoyed, but right then it didn't pay.

"The idea is for one person--a scout of sorts--to go out at night, and with stealth find a store that sells backpacks, steal a few of the biggest ones, and bring them back for the rest of us. With some practice, we are supposed to be able to fold our wings up small enough to fit them in."

How I said that without my voice breaking, I didn't know. Maybe it was like when I fought; I go into a survival mode of sorts. That was probably why it sounded like I was reading that from a textbook.

"I don't know," said Corbin. "That sounds kind of sketchy."

"Of course it does," I said. "That's the point. This is a last resort. It's a 'do or die' kind of thing."

As I said this, my mind was starting to go numb. Fraternizing with humans, that was the last thing I wanted to do. It was humans who abandoned us all and left us to die, and who sent the wolves after us. They were cruel. And so many things could go wrong. Even more than that had.

I ached all over though most of my bleeding had stopped. I had ripped my shirt up for Blake’s wounds and now I had used my jacket for my own. Now I wished we had a fire. The rain poured down and made the stone cave even colder. It chilled me to the bone.

Only half my mind was on the conversation and I didn’t say anything. It was a crazy plan disguising ourselves as humans. Our wings could never be hidden. My mind blocked out there talking for a minute. Blake and swimming seemed so long ago, but there was things that needed to be done.

I jumped up wincing in pain. I always forgot my wounds after the battle.

“We should probably try to make a fire, or we will all freeze to death I said”

Blaise

I jumped as I heard Michel speak. "It's raining, how can we?" I asked. Just then, the rain stopped. My luck.

"Plan Miracle..." I sighed. "That doesn't sound like it'll work. Can't we just fight them off on our own and leave it at that? Humans are the ones we want revenge on. Why should we go by them?!"

"I don't like it any more than you, Blaise," Kaylee said, sighing.

"In any case, we won't be able to do it until everyone is healed and ready," Corbin said.

"I know. Just something to think about," Kaylee said quietly.

Kaylee:

"I know. Just something to think about," I told Blaise quietly. "And beside, we need to prepare for it. You know, find out how we'll get the backpacks, ways to be inconspicious. I'm sure we act very different from them. And we need to find someone to go in for us."

I managed to stand up and balance on one leg "But right now we need to make a new home."

Looking out to everyone I called "Everyone, we need to make camp here. We need shelter, food, firewood, medicine, weapons, anything you can get your hands on without getting killed will suffice."

Blaise

"I'm going to fly down to the caves," I said Kaylee. "Maybe the wolves haven't gotten there yet. I'll get everything I can." We had some pretty valuable stuff down there that the humans had left with us.

"Be careful," Kaylee whispered.

"Since when am I not?" I said, grinning. "I'll be back soon."

"I'll come with," Corbin said.

I flew down towards the caves. When we got there, I could hear the wolves scrabbling as they climbed faster.

We had left a bag there that Blake had made when she was bored for us to carry things. I put in blankets, some of our spears, the medicine we had, and some palm leaves we used to build our houses. Corbin grabbed as many other things as he could including palm leaves.

"You go ahead," I said. Corbin nodded.

I walked over to where I had kept a picture of my 2 year old sister, Anika, who had been taken by the wolves just a year ago. She would be three now.

I put the picture in my pocket and then flew back up.

Keylee:

Corbin and Blaise reappeared with loads of stuff in their arms. When they set it down I rummaged through it. "Good. This is good." I mummbled. Scooping up the medicine I shoved it at Corbin and said "Give it to everyone." He handed me on but I pushed it away "No, not me." Blaise frowned and said "Kaylee, you need it more then any of them do."

I shook my head and said "But I don't want it. Give it to everyone else." Blaise took the medicine from Corbin's hand and said "You're taking the medicine." I pushed him away "No Blaise, I'm not taking it."

He put pressure on my shoulders, forcing me to sit without causing me any pain. He grabbed my wounded leg. Covering the bites with my hands I said "No!" He pushed away my hands and said "Oh just shut up Kaylee and take the medicine."

"I don't want it Blaise!" He frowned at me and said "Well I'm pretty sure you don't want to die either, I know I don't want you to."

Blaise

I frowned at her and said "Well I'm pretty sure you don't want to die either, I know I don't want you to."

"Give it to them!"

"Kaylee, if you don't take it, then who's going to lead us? You're what keeps us together. You're our leader."

Kaylee paused, freezing. I took this time to gently apply the medicine. "Now please, Kaylee, take it for us, ok? We need you more than you know." The words meant something more to me.

Kaylee:

"Now please, Kaylee, take it for us, ok?" He gave me such a pleading look with such care in his light blue eyes. There was something else in his eyes but I couldn't quite place it. Crossing my arms I said "Fine, I'll take the medicine but I'm not going to be happy about it." As he applied more of the medicine to my leg he said "I didn't expect you to."

"How come you didn't get a scratch and I'm going to have to relearn how to walk?" He gave a chuckle and said "Because I am Mr.Invincible." I pushed hs head playfully away as I let out my own laugh.

Personality: i keep to myself most of the time, and do not speak, but when i do, i have really helpful things to say.

Feelings towards people that left you on island?:i absolutely hate the people who put me on the island, but make friends with the people from the island.

Likes:sitting by the waterfall and looking up at the sky at night (this helps me sleep)

Dislikes:being forced to be grouped with others (i am anti social)

Strengths:when i am left alone, i can see other things that are not near me (like seeing the future only i see things that are happening now, but far off from me)

Flaws:i am antisocial, all of my family was killed by the people who put me on the island.
