Winged Ones

Kaylee:

When a wolf plunged its teeth into my leg I couldn't help but let out a scream in excruciating pain. With y other leg I kicked its nose and shouted "Retreat!" I ran quickly and managed to get the wolves off of them to let them go.

When they finally all were freed I was about to start flying. Just as I began flying a wolf bit down into the bottom part of my leg. I let out another scream and fell to the ground. When they stopped flying I screamed "Go! I'll be fi-" The wolf bit me again so my sentence was cut off by another scream.

I raced towards Kaylee- or, flew, anyway. "I'm not leaving without you!" I shouted as everyone retreated except for Blake, who hovered somewhere in between.

Kaylee was fighting the wolf. "Oh, just go," she yelled.

I grabbed my knife and started helping her. "Stop arguing, it's not going to get you anywhere," I said hurriedly.

Kaylee:

"I'm not leaving without you!" Blaise yelled as he flew towards me. Everyone else retreated except for Blake who seemed undecided on what to do "Oh, just go!" I yelled at him.

He grabbed his knife and quickly said "Stop arguing, it's not going to get you anywhere." Just as the wolf bit into me again Blaise stabbed the kinfe through its chest and it fell ontop of me.

Blaise opened its jaws and tossed it away. The other wolves began coming towards us. Grabbing my hand he pulled me up. We flew towards the cave.

Every move I made hurt so bad it cause me to flinch. Blaise seemed to notice.

Blaise

"Just hold on," I murmered as we continued to fly higher and higher. We reached the cave and I set her down. "Alright, Kay, just hold one, we'll get you some help, c'mon, someone!" I looked around desperately. Someone- I wasn't paying enough attention to see who- had some cloth to be used for a bandage.

Blake

After stabbing a wolf, I started upwards. I wasn't feeling up to flying, but I forced myself to anyways.

Focus, focus, focus, I repeated to myself, using it to keep rhythm to my wings. Somehow I made it to our cave, though the moment I touched the ground I collapsed. Everywhere hurt, but I was overjoyed to be on the good, solid ground.

I knew we couldn't stay long though; animals intelligent enough to gather up that many attackers weren't stupid. Obviously they would be coming for us. It was almost as though some sort of uprising.

Only one thing was for sure; we were in serious trouble.

I’d just killed out a gray wolf when someone screamed retreat. I sprung to the air just before the white wolf lunged at me, but it only ripped my jeans. Kaylee screamed and I looked back hovering for a moment. But, Blaise was swooping back to help her like always and Blake was watching to see if they needed help. I turned back I wouldn’t be of use anyways. I was struggling to just fly straight.

Annoyance flickered to life in my brain. Blake and Blaise were always the ones doing awesome in battle getting everyone’s attention. Never me, but I pushed it away knowing I should be happy with what I’d done. Blinding one wolf and killing another was awesome if you were barehanded.

Then I rememberd. My Knives! I turned around to go get them.

Corbin~

I landed and looked around. Everywhere there were wolves and people fighting. Many were bleeding, on both sides, but we were taking it hard. I pulled my knife out of my boot and smiled, "Who started the party without me?" I asked as I raced for a wolf. The wolf turned around to face me and snarled. I glared at it, letting it know who was boss.

Suddenly Kaylee screamed in pain and yelled, "retreat!" I quickly pounced on the wolf and drove my knife in him. He let out a yelp, and then died. I felt slightly bad for killing an animal that could have only be attacking to protect her pups, but no wolf was going to hurt me or my family without a penalty.

I shot up in the air with the rest of my "winged family" and started flying away. But then Kaylee screamed again and shouted some orders that I couldn't understand because they were mumbled out of pain. I dove back down only to be surrounded by wolves. So I flew up again. This is hopeless I thought We can't save Kaylee if we're being attacked ourselves. I looked around at the other people that had stayed behind to help, but we were way out numbered. I watched as they fluttered to the ground only to fly back up again with wolves jumping up nipping at their heels.

Then an idea hit me. I dove for the earth, scooped up a hand full of good-sized rocks, and flew back up to the sky. I started pelting down rocks at the wolves near Kaylee. Finally they got annoyed and turned toward me. They growled and came my way. "Go!" I shouted at the others "I'll distract them" Blaise swooped down and helped Kaylee into the air.

Seeing that Kaylee was going to be ok, I headed back to the cave.

Blake

I took a few deep breathes and propped myself up on my elbow, then pushed myself against one of the cave walls. I look out over the area surrounding our home. At first I saw nothing, but then took another look. Something was moving. A lot of somethings.

"Guys," I said, half panicking--which never happens. "I think they're coming. Here. The wolves."

We were so dead.

>Ok, we need a DT so that we can discuss what's going on. Is there an evil mind behind these wolves? I mean, this many wolves don't just attack people like this. Yes, they do attack people, but not this aggressively. And why have we never had this problem before? Where are all the wolves coming from? So is there some evil person behind this thing or what?<

I swooped into the cave dropping all my stuff.
“The wolves, there coming here” I panted.
“We already know” said Blake. As I scrambled to get my two fighting knives. They were a mismatched pair, but I had learned to use them together well.

Corbin~

I sped through the air, many people were wounded and they needed my help. Someone rushed past me and I looked up to see Ester flying into the cave. Her dirty blond hair brushed against her slim shoulders as she knelt beside an injured person. I liked Ester, she was fast, an amazing fighter, and she wasn't vain like some girls; I respected her. She was a good friend, a good opponent to practice with, and fun to joke with.

I noticed a movement under me and I saw a flash of gray fur. "No." I whispered. Another patch of grey came into view, "Crap."

I landed to warn everyone but they seemed to already know. Everyone was grabbing their weapons. I dug in my bag and pulled out a dagger.

A couple of the badly injured people groaned in hopelessness.

I walked up to Ester and said, "Well now we'll be able to have some fun." We had gotten in late during the other fight the wolves and had missed a lot of the action.

She sharpened her knife and answered, "Yah, should be fun."

Blake

I had many injuries, but the worst was my leg. I scooted over and grabbed one of my t-shirts from the ground, than tied it tightly over my leg wound. My mind was still frazzled, but I forced my self up and walked--shakily--to a water pitcher we kept in the corner.

I cupped my hands under the water, then brought them to my face for a long drink. After that was done, I splashed the freezing water on my face, in an effort to wake up more. It did the trick.

I went over to by the entrance where by quiver of arrows and bow were laying, and strapped them onto my back.

Everybody was doing similar things to prepare.

With the fight glaring ahead on me, I went into survival mode. I was determined, and when that happened no one better irk me.

"How long 'till they get here?" Blaise asked, still tending to Kaylee.

I peered out of our home, and saw a mass of fur coming towards us.

"Not long enough," I said. "Not long enough."

I grasped my dagger hilt, ready.
