Blake and Blaise got attacked by wolves. We all came to help. Some of us got hurt and we all retreated. But the wolves followed us. Now we're back at the cave (our home) some of us are helping the wounded and some of us are preparing for battle with the wolves. (am I missing anything?)

Note: I mentioned you in two of my posts so you might want to check on those.

I clicked my tongue nervously. I sunk into a defensive position, my eyes scanning the area frantically. A roar emitted through the caves, the hairs on my arms stood on end instantly.

“They’re here!” I yelled fearfully. Gray figures lurched into the small domain, a chorus of screams and blood curdling roars followed in tune. Biting deeply into my lip, I blinked back dust.

Corbin raised his dagger and roared moving forward. I moved instantly my eyes locked on my target. The wolf lurched under the stalactites and ran towards me, its blood red tongue dangling from its mouth.

My feet hit the floor three times following the wolf’s quick foot falls. Jumping I raised my dagger; my wings folded in towards my back, the tips scraping against the hard rocks.

The wolf lunged from the floor, its carnivorous teeth barred and its claws piercing through its thick fur. Its thick head struck at my chin, grabbing onto its fur I was wrenched towards the ground the wolf landing on top of me.

Gagging, the air left my lungs my cheeks instantly turning purple. The wolf rolled off of me, its thick claws scratching across my collar bone. I forced my body to move, rolling to my feet, I felt bile rise in my throat. Fatigue weighed on my shoulders.

Raising my daggers I lunged forward, bringing the blade towards it, the wolf jumped backwards. I moved instantly, sliding across the ground, I stabbed the dagger into its leg.

The wolf collapsed towards the floor its claws digging into my side. I collapsed instantly my eyes widening in pain. Forcing my feet out around me, I swooped my arms around pushing the dagger through the wolves’ stomach.

It screeched, the life in its eyes disappearing instantly. I forced myself away from the body, lounging against the wall my chest frantically pumping in air. Grabbing at my daggers, I blew my hair out of my face. Jumping into a sprint, I hurtled towards Corbin my heart beating frantically.

Corbin~

I was in a dance with a wolf. We were each lunging toward each other, and then jumping back to avoid the others sharp weapon. My dagger was swinging, his teeth were and claws were slashing. I needed to distract it long enough to be able to plunge my knife into it, but the wolf's blood-thirsty eyes were locked on me, watching my every move.

Lets see I thought desperately wolves are afraid of music, bright lights, and... and then it hit me fire! I started backing away towards our camp fire that had been used for the afternoon meal. The wolf followed me but looked a bit cautious. When I had backed up close to the fire, the dog stole a nervous glance at the dancing flames. Carefully picking up a stick from the fire I swung it at the wolf. It yelped and jumped back. I brought the stick to the left and his eyes followed it. He cowered, only for an instant, but that was all that I needed. His eyes were on the flames and didn't see my knife until it was to late, I plunged it into his side.

I was dismayed to see that it didn't kill the wolf instantly. He howled in pain but managed to take a bite at my arm. I clenched my teeth to hold in a scream. With his teeth locked in my arm, it was trapped, and it hurt to try to pull away. But in my left arm I still held the stick, and I swung the burning club at the wolf's head as hard as I could. The wolf had already lost most of it's strength, and now it fell to the ground. Dead.

I looked up to see Ester rushing towards me. Her neck was swollen and cut. The side of her shirt was red with blood. My heart beat faster in worry for her, my own cuts forgotten.

"Ester, you ok?" I asked with concern. But before I could answer I heard a growl behind me and the look in Ester's eyes proved that my guess was right. There where more wolves. This fight wasn't over yet.

Ester's gently touched my arm to warn me of the danger that was behind me. Don't move she mouthed.

I slightly nodded my head to show her that I understood. The wolf growled again, this time the sound was louder. I heard the scrape of it's claws against the cave floor as it approached me. I stiffened and looked fearfully at Ester. She shook her head. I eyed her with uncertainty but decided to trust her.

Be ready she mouthed again. I gripped my knife and my arm tensed. I could almost see the wolf crouch behind me, getting ready to spring. My eyes looked at Ester's, ready to spring at her ok. I heard the wolf huff as it sprung, and Ester shouted, "now!" Quickly I spun around with my dagger slashing through the air. My dagger met the wolf in midair and cut deep into it's gut. It fell to the ground with a yelp and Ester rushed over to finish it off.

Let's just say that the people who put all of us here found out we're still alive and sent the wolves to kill us.

Kaylee:
I felt so hopeless. I couldn't lead them if I was just sitting here. "Guys!" I managed to yell "We need to get to higher ground."

I pushed myself up, Blaise gave me a worried look. I stepped lightly on my right leg but it still hurt insanely. After taking a few miniature steps my leg collapsed under me but thankfully Blaise caught me. I placed my hand on the back of his neck and said "Thank you Blaise. For everything."

As I looked at him I realized how handsome he was. And how sweet and gentle. Quite attractive. No, no, no, no, no. No. I can't think this way. Especially now.

So are the wolves rabid? That would describe why they're all so aggressive, and crazy to kill us all. But if we did that then anyone who got cut would also get rabies, so that wouldn't work... We could just not worry about it.

That sounds great.

Blaise

I watched her worriedly. "Thanks for everything, Blaise," she said softly.

"It's nothing," I said quietly. "I'd do it again in a heartbeat."

Wait. Hold on. We couldn't be having a 'happy aw we're friends' moment right now when wolves were going to come and get us.

"C'mon, to higher ground. Michel, you help Blake. I'll help Kaylee. Everyone else.... if you need help, just call out. Let's go..." I turned towards them and said quietly. "To the mountain top."

Everyone gaped at me. The mountain top was very high, and our last resort when we were in trouble.

Kaylee:

I nodded in agreement, still hanging on to Blaise so not to fall. "That's our best shot. They can't get us up there. The only way is flying and last time I checked wolves don't have wings and they can't float."

I let out a quiet whimper as I took a step before taking to the air. As we flew Blaise stayed very close to make sure nothing happened.

We were about halfway up when I began feeling faint from the loss of blood and the searing pain still shooting through my leg. Blaise whispered "Hold on Kaylee. We're almost there."

The wolves rushed towards us backs bristled. It seemed there was just a second of calm; then everything turned to confusion. A large wolf leaped towards me, but I dogged raking its side with my curved dagger. It didn’t even seem to feel the pain though and lunged again this time ready for my quick reflexes. As I tried to leap over it with a thrust of my wings it lunged grabbing my foot and pulling me back to the ground. Out of the corner of my eye I saw someone with fire. The wolf was distracted enough for me to fake up then leap sideways at the last moment stabbing its unprotected neck. As it howled in pain I wrenched my dagger out to cut its throat. Just then I heard Kaylee cry.
“Higher ground!” I leaped up and flew over to help her, but Blaise was already on the job.
"C'mon, to higher ground. Michel, you help Blake. I'll help Kaylee. Everyone else.... if you need help, just call out. Let's go...To the mountain top." Said Blaise in a calm voice I could never have managed at a time like this. I rushed over to Blake.
“C’mon,” I said “We’re going to the mountain top. I’ll help you”

Blake

"C'mon," said Michel. "We're going to the mountaintop. I'll help you."

Grudgingly I let him put his arm around my waist and help me to the entrance.

"Ready?" he asked.

I nodded. We flapped our wings and took off. My wings ached, but I kept on with Michel's help. His arm flexed under me, and I noticed how strong he must be; most of my weight was on him.

"Almost there," he whispered.
"Blah blah blah. You feel trapped in your life. Here is what I am hearing: happiness isn't worth any inconvenience."

Kaylee:

My eyes shut involuntary for a moment. During this I began falling. Blaise used quick reflexes to catch me. My eye snapped open and I placed my hand on my head "Okay, I'm fine. I'm fine. We only have a little bit more to go."

As we flew Blaise kept his arm around me to prevent me from plummeting to my death. God my leg hurts! We got to the top. When I discontinued flying I fell to the ground.I let out a silent groan and muttered "I want to go to sleep." I sat up, my arms on the ground to support me. As everyone else appeared I realized how many of them were injured.

This is bad. I placed my hand lightly on the bite marks. When I removed my hand it was crimson with my blood.

Ester Alice:

I fell clumsily to the floor, my stomach growling for food. I turned onto my stomach, trying to relieve some of the pain my wings were in. Something wet dropped onto my neck. Opening my eyes, I craned my neck up into the sky. I watched as dark grey clouds loomed before us.

Thick droplets of water plummented towards the ground soaking at out tired limbs. I turned towards Kaylee and Blaise. Both were dragging themselves to their feet to watch the water falling.

"God, look at those clouds!" Corbin awed as he pulled himself up on to the peice of land. Below us, the wolves were snapping their jaws howling loudly for their prey. I wish they would just leave us alone!

"So," I muttered. They all turned simultaneously, their eyes narrowed. I guess they're not the smiling type when it comes to almost being killed. "Do you know where any food is?" I asked quickly, trying not to the let their attention slip.

"We haven't got any food." Michael flopped back onto the floor, shuddering as drops began to rain on to him. On to all of us! I squealed, I didn't like getting wet.

Blaise

"Anyone got anything extra made out of cloth?" I called out. Kaylee weakly waved her hands towards her bag. I quickly grabbed it and pulled off strips which I tied around her wounds. Following my lead, Michel did the same.

It was raining all over us, which at least cleaned off the wounds. Kaylee was slipping in and out of conciousness. "Just hold on, Kay, just hold on," I whispered.

The rain poured down. I sat there and enjoyed the fresh feeling of it washing over my body. Holding my arm out I let the rain wash away the blood from the wolf bite. It stung, but I knew that it would clean any infection that might be there. The water rushing down my body felt delicious. If I could I would be out there 'singing in the rain' but... well lets just say that I would be saving a couple ear drums if I didn't.

Instead I pulled out my pipe and started playing. A couple people looked at me in annoyance but I just crossed my eyes at them and played louder; teasing them. I caught Ester watching me, but she looked away before I could see her expression. Did she like it? Or was she also annoyed? I slowed the tone, and then stopped. Placing the pipe back in my pocket, I flew away from our camp and sat down on a rock.

What are we going to do now? I thought. The wolves were at our camp and no doubt they had completely destroyed it. Eating all our food, tearing up all our clothes and blankets. I wondered why they had come the way they did. There were so many, we'd had problems with wolves before but never like this.

"It just doesn't make sense," I mumbled.

"What doesn't make sense?" someone said from behind me, making me jump.

"What doesn't make sense?" I asked.

Corbin turned around. "Wolves are never going against us this badly," he said quietly. "Doesn't it seem... odd, to you?"

"They sent them, I'd bet my life on it," Kaylee muttered. "The ones who left us, I mean."

"I agree," I said quietly. "No wolves move with that kind of conviction on their own. And don't bet your life on it, please, we want to keep you here," I said, smiling softly.

According to all known laws of aviation, there is no way a bee should be able to fly. Its wings are too small to get its fat little body off the ground.
