*So apparently when I joined I didn't realize this was all in more modern times...therefore I'm replacing my bow and arrows with a gun ;) *

Jess

Damn. I really hate these psychic mages. As my gun left my hand, I grasped wildly for it, but in an instant it had whipped around and was pointing straight at my forehead.

"I think the situation's changed a bit," said the leader in a calm voice.

I seethed at him, my eyes flashing from his face to the trigger, watching for the tiniest movement of the metal, signifying that the gun was about to go off.

"Is that all you can do?" Adam scoffed. In a lightning-quick motion, he had somehow leapt forward and knocked one of the mages over, the other guy. One gun wavered and clattered to the floor.

I immediately ducked and rolled underneath the second gun, slamming into the girl, who screamed and blasted me in the face with clods of dirt. Choking and spluttering, I tried to scramble to my feet while pulling out my knife, swiping at the girl. I lightly sliced her leg, not enough to seriously wound her, but enough to make her bleed and scream.

Pandemonium broke out and a few gunshots blasted in my ears, but I couldn't tell if anyone got hurt.

"Jess, look out!" someone yelled, and the next thing I remembered was feeling a sharp pain in the back of my head before everything went dark.

I was so mad at Emmett. I was ready to fight those magekillers, I wanted to. And then he teleported me into this stupid wood, miles away from the house. There were only three of them now, against god only knew how many magekillers. I wanted to go back and help, I wouldn't be able to stand it if they were killed. I paced up and down the small clearing we were stranded in impatiently. I saw Lorei as I turned to walk back the way I came and her face was white. Her whole body was trembling and she was close to tears. I quickly calmed, and went to sit beside her. I put my arm around her and she leant her head against my shoulder.

"It's going to be OK Lorei," I said, even though I wasn't sure of it myself.

She smiled at me, not being fooled, knowing that I was worried too.

Emmett and Cutter levitated the guns out of the magekillers' hands.

"I think the situation's changed a bit," Emmett said. I smirked.

"Is that all you can do?" One of them says.

Cutter was knocked back ,and one gun fell to the floor. I tried to grab it, but a girl slammed into me. I shot clods of dirt at her. She fell to the ground, then got up and grabbed her knife. She took a swipe at me that slashed my leg. I screamed in pain. Now I was really angry.

A bunch of gunshots went off, and I could tell the girl was a little confused with all the noise. I took my chance.

"Jess, look out!" A magekiller warned the girl who cut me. It was too late, though. I threw a big rock at her as she turned around to see who called her name and it hit her in the back of the head.

She winced at the pain, then fell to the ground, out cold.

I didn't wait another second to move on to the next magekiller. Emmett and Cutter were handling them pretty well, but we were still outnumbered. I thought of the others, safe and sound. I thought of Lorie and Emmett. I knew they loved each other, and I couldn't help but wish I had made Emmett leave too. Then I remembered that he wouldn't have anyway. I thought of how everyone would feel if something went wrong. We were family to each other. I thought of Cutter...

I didn't want to think anymore, mainly because Emmett and Cutter could have been listening in. I was jolted away from my thoughts when my leg throbbed with pain. I looked down at my leg, knowing that I had to do something quick. Remembering that Lorie's aunt had a pool, I brought some water over and placed it on my cut. It hurt, but I knew it would help it heal.

Then I had an idea. I brought more water over, deciding to use it as a weapon. I whipped someone with it in his face. He had been fighting Cutter, but then he turned to me.

Perfect. I thought. I knew I would be able to handle this one. I had all four elements on my side! Besides, while he was distracted with me, Cutter took the opportunity and punched him the the back. If we kept this up, soon it would be 3 on 3!

Cutter,

I smile grimly as I fight. Emmett and Catherine are great fighters, and I feel good with them at my side. The Magekiller who had originally kicked me was fighting with me now. He's good, I'll give him that. Petite figure, but strong. I'd like to get to know him if he wasn't trying to kill me.
Out of nowhere, I hear Catherine's thoughts. Thoughts about Emmett and Lorei, all of our family, and...me? I stop short, about to levitate a flower pot into the small Magekiller's face. Grinning, he is about to punch me, when Catherine hits him hard with a floating mass of water. I smash the pot on his head.
There are only a few left now. We can deal with this, I think, smiling and levitating pitchfork. I level it at one of the female Magekillers. As I throw it, I know something is wrong.
I hear the bang of gun. As in slow motion, I see the speeding magebullet coming at me. In that instant, I jerk to the side. The bullet smashes into my shoulder. I shout out in pain.
I can hear the Magekillers laughing, someone screaming...I'm blacking out when I reach out to Emmett's thoughts.
<Get Catherine and yourself out of here.>
And remember...A portkey can be any sort of harmless object...A football...or a dolphin.

Catherine

Everything was going okay, until I heard a gunshot. I looked at Emmett and saw that he was okay, then at Cutter. He jerked to the side. The magekillers laughed.

"NO!" I scream. It felt as though everything went in slow motion as Cutter fell to the floor. I hadn't told anyone this, or even thought about it, but I kind of...well...liked Cutter. A lot, I mean. He was always so nice and funny. I never even got to hang out with him a bunch, and now he could be lost.

I looked at the man who had shot Cutter. Glaring at him, I used all of my strength to bring up a huge amount of Earth and water. The wind blown hard towards the magekillers. I was going to finish them once and for all. They had messed with, and injured, my family. This was personal to me.

I flung the Earth and water at all of the magekillers.

Emmett stared at me in amazement.

"I didn't know you could do that!" he said with a chuckle. I smiled shyly at him, then looked down at Cutter on the ground. Emmett took hold of my arm and I held onto Cutter's, and he teleported us to the woods where everyone else was.

When we got there, we were greeted with hugs and questions.

"What happened?" Millie asked. "Are you guys all..." she looked at Cutter. Everyone starred at him, wide eyed.

"He was shot." I said with no emotion at all. "But Emmett and I took care of the magekillers. They're all either dead or badly injured. They might come better equipped next time, though."

I sent a quick mental massage to Emmett. Don't say anything about what I did to the magekillers. In fact, say that you were the one that finished them off, okay! I looked at him, my eyebrows raised, and he nodded.

We told them all about what happened after they had gone while we nursed Cutter back to health. It took a few days, but he finally woke up. We were all happy to see him up again, but he still rested a lot.

I looked over at Emmett and Lorie a lot, and I could tell they were both happy that the other was safe. I was glad that the family was together again.

Lorei

I run up and hug Emmett the second he comes back. He carries a very broken looking Cutter in his arms.

"Magebullet." Catherine explains. I bend down beside him, and try to help him as best as I can.

Two days later.....

I toss another stick into the fire.

"We can't live like this." I say.

"Do we have another option?" Millie asks.

"We can't go anywhere. It's lucky they haven't found us." Ollie says.

"My hair looks like something attacked it!" I exclaim. They all laugh. I didn't see how this was funny.

Aunt Beth

We wait until the fighting stops, and the Magekillers are all outside lying on the ground.

"Are they dead?" I ask Uncle Charles. He shakes his head.

"We need to leave." He says, and pulls me away. There would never be peace anymore. We were associates. There was nowhere to run to, nowhere to hide. And yet, I wasn't worried for myself. I was worried for Lorei.

Adam, tangled in a mess of thorns, retracted his hand from the sharp vines, wincing. He ripped his head out, his pale skin scratched and bleeding. His gun was but several meters away, and he leaped up and swiped it, his knees wobbling as he stood. "Idiots," he thought as he scanned the scene. Ken and Trae were off to the side, moaning and grabbing at their wounds. His eyes wandered over to Jessica, her body sprawled out across the grass. He jogged over to her, and cupped her cheek. "Jessica," he called softly, but her eyes remained closed.

He reached inside his pocket for his cell phone, but flinched when the broken, metal shards cut his finger. Perfect. He glanced around and examined the demolished shed, and the large trees that had fallen and crushed it during the fight. This was ridiculous. He took another look at Jessica and frowned, bending down and slipping his hands under her limp body. He ran over to the house in time to watch the mages hastily make their way inside, and he quickly fell against another bush. A terrified gasp escapes from the house. Gently placing Jessica on the ground, Adam slipped around the back porch and followed the mages inside unseen.

Inaudibly he activates his teleportation blocker, so the mages wouldn't be able to escape him again, nor be able to read his mind and figure out he was there. He'll have to stay within a certain range. Adam examines his surroundings, the comfy, wooden home with a fire burning in the corner. Several people have gathered around the shot mage, and Adam backs away further behind the large potted plant. Lightly he bumps into a knob, and his head rotates quickly glance at the dusty, unused door. A crawlspace underneath the staircase. It looked like it has been forgotten about for almost a decade; the wood is rotten, and spiderwebs entangle themselves between the wall and the door. Wiping away the spiderwebs, Adam carefully, ever-so-carefully opened the door, keeping an eye on the panicked mages. None have noticed his presence.

The inside of the staircase is dark and moldy, but the lithe magekiller ducks into the darkness and closes the door completely. Light still spills in from the rotted wood, and he feels around his belt for a tiny flashlight. The mages and their friends are still mumbling about their injured friend. He pauses and holds his breath, listening for any footsteps, any hushed whispering. "He was shot," A woman says, responding to a quiet inquiry about the mage. "But Emmett and I took care of the magekillers. They're all either dead or badly injured. They might come better equipped next time, though." Either all dead or badly injured. How absurd; simply knocking them down for the count doesn't mean you've really, truly injured any of them. But.. Adam's mind wandered back to Jessica. Hopefully she'll wake up sometime soon, and escape.

The tiny flashlight is flicked on, and the mages still talk amongst themselves. The crawlspace is small, but there's definitely enough room to move around comfortably. Adam raises his hand above him and feels the ceiling, the wet wood against his fingertips, the smell of mold seeping into his nostrils. He continues to feel around, glancing at the ceiling as he does so, when he stops. The flashlight shines dully on a trap door leading upwards. The only indicator was a small, barely noticeable handle. Adam gripped the handle and tugged it gently, and the door creaked open quietly. Again he foze, but the mages haven't noticed anything. Soundlessly he climbed through the door into another crawlspace, which held a much more noticeable exit. He didn't want to risk tumbling out in broad daylight and being seen by the mages, so Adam poked at the damp wood with his dagger and made one of the holes bigger. Indeed, on the other side was a hallway.

Adam closed the door under him. He was on the second floor; their staircase somehow connects to the wall, as that's definitely where he was. Hiding inside the mages' wall. His heartbeat quickened as footsteps bounded up the stairs, and he watched a few of the mages travel by. "Are we staying here?" One of them asked the other.

"We'll leave in a few days. I'm sure the magekillers won't retreat, or try anything just yet. They looked really hurt." The walked past Adam, the voices turning into indeterminable, quiet mumbles.

After what seemed like a couple of days switching between the crawlspace under the staircase and inside the wall, cramped, dirty and immeasurably tired, Adam heard the mage's quietly talking as they poked at the fire.
"We can't live like this," One says. A couple quiet, tired sighs escape from whoever sat next to her.

"Do we have another option?" Somebody asks.

"We can't go anywhere. It's lucky they haven't found us."

"My hair looks like something attacked it!" The same girl who said they couldn't live like they were exclaimed. The other's laughed, and what seemed like a growl came from her throat. These people were so.. beyond stupid. Why haven't they left yet? How do they know the magekillers won't call for back up?

.. Why haven't they called for back up? What was taking the captain? And where was Jessica, was she alright? Adam gripped his head, pulling at his hair in frustration. This was too much. What was he doing inside this wall? He took a small swig of water from the canteen that was hooked to his waist. He didn't have much water left; he could easily pass out due to dehydration, perhaps rot away inside this crawlspace like the wood. He had to get out, do something. He couldn't step out at night and look for another hiding spot, and risk revealing himself to the mages. No. He had to wait until maybe one of them was alone, take them, use them as a hostage. That way the mage's wouldn't be able to leave town, and would have to come out to search for their friend.

When the mage's went to bed, they slept in different rooms. Usually they slept near one another, but there was this one girl, who didn't possess any magical powers as far as he knew, whom he had gotten a glimpse of, who slept by herself downstairs. She was very beautiful, but her looks didn't faze him. He swallowed nervously, trying to peek through one of the cracks that the rotted wood allowed. She's the one poking at the fire. As night time approaches, the others leave her to stare at the flames, her hands and face covered in soot. "Good night," she whispers, and they all respond with hugging her and telling her good night as well.

Hours pass: the young girl finally lies down and starts to snore gently. Adam takes out a small vial clipped to his belt, whipping out his flashlight to check if it's the correct one. Clear liquid swishes around inside, and Adam reads the label and squeezes it tightly inside his small palm. He opens the door of the crawlspace quietly, tip toeing over to the girl. Her lips are already parted, and he unscrews the vial and drips several drops inside of her mouth. Adam kneels over her quietly, fingering the fabric of her sleeping bag as he waits.

She falls limp. Without a sound, Adam picks her up and throws her small body over his shoulder. He listens for footsteps, for any signs of life besides him and the young girl. Nothing. He slips outside unnoticed, and makes his way outside to the gate where him and the other magekillers had parked earlier. The car wasn't there. Annoyed, although it was only common sense for the others to take the car when the left, he and the girl traveled up the street in the dead of night. Crickets watched him and chirped as he looked at the bright, white stars. The girl isn't heavy, and doesn't pose a problem. Adam takes her off his back and, under the moonlight, examines her face. She was really pretty. He swallowed again and, one hand under her back and the other under her legs, he held her closer to him so she wouldn't fall. She wouldn't wake up for at least another couple of hours.

Soon enough they were in front of what seemed to be a red, two door car, parked in front of a quaint home. Gently he put the girl down and unhooked his skeleton key from his belt. Unlocking the car door, he picked her up and slipped her into the passenger seat, buckling her safely. Again he reached for his belt, and retrieved a note that explained he needed to borrow the car on strict police business, and he would return it to the citizen as soon as possible. Notes like these were always pre-written and on hand. Dashing up to the front porch, stuck the note to the door and ran back to the car. Turning the ignition, him and the girl drove out into the night.

The car told him it was about two in the morning, and as he turned a corner, Adam watched his apartment pop up in his line of sight. He parked in front of the building and turned the car off, again turning to the girl. He turned the light of the car on and looked at her, again taking in her delicate features. Her hair was loosely surrounding her face, and her own self was sprawled out across the seat. He tucked some hair behind her ear, softly running the back of his palm against her cheek. It was a shame that she had to be hiding the mages, and they had to be enemies. She obviously had a large heart if she would risk her life for her friends.

Sighing, Adam unclipped the seatbelt and carried the girl inside. Gently seating her onto one of his dining room chairs, he took some handcuffs and pulled her arms around the back of the seat, restraining her. He switched on the lights in the kitchen and opened one of the drawers, retrieving a large roll of duct tape. He took her small ankle in his hand and taped it to the large, clunky chair leg, and repeated the action with the other ankle. Her head limply rested on her shoulder, her pout lips still agape. Adam took her small chin in between his fingers and again looked at her. It was really a shame.

He took the chair and picked it up, placing it against the wall outside of his room. He undressed and slipped a pair of sweatpants, throwing on a large white t-shirt over his small, toned chest. Usually he wouldn't wear a shirt, but whether or not the young girl was a prisoner, he didn't want to seem like a pervert. Lazily he wandered back into the kitchen and turned off the light. He closed the door to the hallway and locked it, in case she somehow, some way she got herself out of her bonds and tried to escape, and locked himself inside the room as well. Adam just threw himself on top of his covers, as it was too hot out to be under such heavy blankets. He closed his eyes and smiled, glad to finally be able to move about freely and not worry about spiders crawling into his mouth as he slept.

Upon awaking, Adam heard some shuffling and muffled grunts from outside his door. Grinning as he remembered the previous night, he unlocked the door and watched as the girl suddenly stopped struggling, and stared up at him with wide, confused eyes. How adorable was she? Her hair haphazardly fell over her face, due to probably hours of trying to free herself. He raised his fingers to his mouth and bit one, trying to contain his laughter. "Good morning," he greeted her.

Can we.. can we pretend he didn't? xD I wrote so much, I don't know what to do :/ Didn't you write that Rossain blocked teleportation..?

Psychic: Basically, you have telekinesis, teleportation (which Rossain has managed to block), and mind-reading skills.

:3 I just wouldn't know how to go about editing it, since they're in the woods and Adam would have to walk seven miles to find them, and it would be very hard to stay quiet.. you know..

I thought they were outside Rossain, so it was okay. I do still think it would be good to kidnap Lorei... maybe a teleportation tracker?
