*Sorry I haven't posted, I've been super busy for the past couple of days! Thanks for bringing me in, Kaywiia!*

Every nook and cranny was examined. We were thorough and methodical in our searching. The knowledge that mages were hiding like rats in a hole made my blood boil with anticipation.

I'll be glad once they're dead, I thought grimly, absentmindedly stroking the fletching on my nocked arrow. Despite the other magekillers' offers of a gun, I loved my bow. It had been with me through a lot. Besides, I didn't take nearly as much stock in the powder and metal as I did in the iron head of my arrow.

Ken's voice rang out from the other room. "Someone come help me with this!"

So. She must have found them.

All of our excitement was drained when Cutter said that one single word, "Magekillers." I knew we were still in danger, but I hadn't expected them to find where we were this soon.

I heard a gunshot above us, and Lorie's face turned white. We all knew it had been her father. I felt so bad for her. If those magekillers came anywhere near us, I would beat the crap out of them! I normally wasn't violent, but this was practically my family, and I intended to do whatever it took to keep them safe. I readied myself mentally, preparing to fight, when I heard the bedroom door open. I made sure the Earth at the trap door was tight and sturdy.

The door slammed and locked. I breathed deeply, but without making a sound. I head the voices above us.

"They're in here." I head one of them say. "I can feel it."

Oh crud, oh crud, oh crud, oh crud... I thought over and over again in my head.

How many are in the room? I thought to Emmett. He raised his fingers and showed the number three. How many are there total in or near the house? I asked mentally. Again, Emmett showed the number three. Perfect.

This meant that it would be okay if I got rid of those three. If others had been there, they hear it and come to get us. This was going to be simple, I said to myself. I tried to think positive, but it was hard when I looked at the rest of our faces, all scared and pale.

I got ready for a fight when one of the magekillers said, "Someone come help me with this!" I knew they had found the trap door, and I was ready.

"Follow me." I tell them. I push back a bookcase.

"You'd think we would have known about that." Ollie says.

"My house was build during the Great Revolt, it was used to hide the Runners. There are loads of trap doors ad hidden alleys." I say. behind the bookcase is a set of tairs that lead to the garage.

"Millie, take the hybrid with Ollie and Rae. Cutter, take the Ferrari with Catherine. It will only seat the two of you. I will take the Lamborghini with Emmett." I tell them. I go up to our rack of keys. There is seven sets of keys, one for each of our cars. I toss the matching set of keys to the person drving each car, and hop in my yellow Lamborghini.

"Hurry." Ollie says.

"Follow our car." I say. We would go to my Aunt Beth's house. She was my mother's identical twin and a mage supporter. Aunt Beth and Uncle Charles were as well off as us, and had a large furnished attic where we could hide.

We rushed to the cars and split up into our groups. Normally I would have stopped to admire the sheer beauty of the vehicles in the garage but the thought didn't even cross my mind this time. I was terrified. We jumped in the car and Cutter gunned the engine. A door opened as if by magic, which it probably was but I didn't know who did it, and sunlight streamed in through the opening.

We shot out into the light and turned to face the gates that marked freedom in a loud, skidding arc. I looked up at the house and saw a furious face at one of the upstairs windows. It was a magekiller. She turned to yell a warning to her companions.

"Hurry!" I yelled "we may still be in range of some of their weapons."

Cutter accelerated towards the gate and swerved onto the road. He kept his foot firmly pressed down on the pedal as we raced for freedom. I couldn't see if everyone had made it out safely.

I raced ahead, pushing the car as fast as it would go. Thankfully, all we got were a few honks on our way, no cops. I wasn't in the mood for that.

We pull up at the gate of my aunt's house. I step out of the car, and put in the pin number to her gate, it opens. Thankfully, she hadn't changed it.

The white Hybrid is close behind me. So everyone was safe, then. I breath a sigh of relief.

Aunt Beth

Two cars pull up at the driveway. Who would be here at this time of day? I shrug, and walk downstairs. The front door opens, and my niece steps in.

"Lorei, oh my, you have grown so much sweetie." I say, running down and giving her a hug. "And you have brought some little friends."

One of the boys start laughing.

"It is a bit more than that." Lorei says. I look over them again. It only took me a second to realize what they were.

"Oh, my, you have a little trouble in your hands, yes? Well, don't worry, Auntie Beth will take care of you all. Anyone up for some lemonade? By the looks of it, you must all be awfully thirsty, yes? Lets not tarry, come into the kitchen, dears." I say, and lead them all into the kitchen. They all take a seat at the larger of the two tables.

One of the boy reaches for the bowl in the center of the table that contains an assortment of chocolates. I grab a pitcher, and enough glasses, then sit at the table.

"So, what has brought you here?" I ask.

I smile as Aunt Beth turns around with a huge pitcher full of lemonade, and I leap for it with a laugh. Cutter rolls his eyes, already hoarding the nearest source of chocolate with his mouth full. But there's something about this happiness - it's too much like before. We all know it won't last.

I sneak a glance, at Lorei, who is staring at the table with a faint smile. I frown slightly. There's no way she can be coping that well - she might seem calm but I know her well enough to guess that under the surface she's terrified. Maybe not for herself, but for us. And her father's just been shot...

I suddenly pull her up into a brief hug, not really knowing what I'm doing until it's over, and I give her a half-hearted pat on the shoulder. She just looks pretty shocked, and I'm not sure it was the right thing to do. I blink uncertainly, opening my mouth to apologize when Cutter interrupts.

"We've all been hiding out with Lorei, but... some Magekillers came. They shot Lorei's dad."

Catherine nodded. "So we had to run. Lorei said we'd be safe here."

There is a pause whilst Beth looks around at everyone, and for a second I worry that she's going to refuse. My worries are dissolved as soon as Beth starts to speak. "So, I guess we'll be finding you somewhere to stay? Come on, I'm sure we can find a place for you in this big old house of mine."
Elizabeth: "There will come a moment when you will have a chance to show it. To do the right thing."
Jack: "I love those moments. I like to wave at them as they pass by."

Emmett pulled me into a hug. I don't know what brought it on, but I was totally okay with it. Then he lets go. I am confused as to why he did it, but I do not complain. I just sit there with a confused look. He opens his mouth, but is interuppted.

"We've all been hiding out with Lorei, but... some Magekillers came. They shot Lorei's dad."

Catherine nodded. "So we had to run. Lorei said we'd be safe here."

"You know, I think I will put y'all up in the attic. There are a couple windows, the view is nice." I continue.

"Thank you." Lorei says.

"Charles!" I yell, "Is there any crap in the attic?"

"No!" He yells back down.

"Good, I'll put you dears up there then. Lorei, you can have your old room back." I say to them all. I walk up the stairs, and they follow me. Eventually we reach the third floor. I pull down the string that releases the latter that leads to the attic.

"Go have yourselfs a little look and tell me what y'all think. You can just have your meals and the like with me and Uncle Charles." I say.

Name: Inspector Gideon

Age: 45

Profession: Magekiller

Weapon: Carries Magebullets for his sidearm. Carries a curved saber embedded with a teleportation blocker so mages can escape him.

Appearance: Gideon has a very drawn, face. Razor thin with an angular nose. He has blue eyes with matted brown hair that is usually concealed by his peaked cap. He wears a heavy storm coat with his uniform as well as a red sash, marking him as a veteran magekiller. While Gideon isn't very tall (5'11) he is certainly a daunting figure in his uniform

the one on the right. :smt002

Personality: Certainly not the life of the party. While most makekillers rely on physical abilities, Gideon uses his brain and honed skill in order to get the job done.

Weaknesses/Strengths: Relentless pursuit is his strength and weakness. When Gideon picks up the trail, he will stop at nothing to capture his prize, but he will not cross certain moral boundaries such as killing the innocent. Morally, he is brutal, but fair. This makes him a very isolated individual, even from his comrades in arms.

Likes/Dislikes:

Likes - Competence, obedience, justice

Dislikes - Dishonesty, incompetence

Cutter,

My mouth is still full of the creamy goodness of chocolate when Lorei's aunt shows us the attic.

"Very nice," I say, swallowing, "Thank you, Miss. For all of this."

"Call me Beth, dearie. And don't mention it. It is our pleasure to help you evade those hideous soldiers. I'll bring you guys up some more chocolate and lemonade."

We all thank her, and settle down.

"I can only hope that we don't end up in another situation like earlier," I say.

Inspector Gideon

"Tell me the situation, Kirill." I said as I put my peaked cap on my head. I was aboard on of the APC's the government had so generously donated to my motorcade for the service I had performed for the country. While I usually abhorred such lash displays of appreciation, this particular gift was enormously useful for my operations so I could hardly turn it down.

I looked out the rear viewing portal. The other APC's that trailed behind my command vehicle. There were six in total, each one filled with a team of seven magekiller operatives. Each one filled with men who had sworn a blood oath to me.

"We have incoming reports from three magekillers, Jonathan Server, Kennedy Clark, and Trae. Anyone ring a bell?"

"I've heard of Server, have to say I admire his work in some regards. I'm sure we've shaken hands at a ceremony before. The other two are unknown. What is their status?"

"They stumbled upon a mansion filled with mages and have requested back up."

"Yaral," I shout to my driver, "how close are we?"

"Two minutes, boss."

I removed my pistol from my holster and checked the chamber to make sure the weapon was loaded. The silver metal glittered amber from dim, red light of APC lights.

"Not soon enough," I said over the roar of the engines as I released the slide.
If there is one thing in the world I CAN'T stand it is the Redwings.

Inspector Gideon arrives at the mansion.

"They got away." I hiss as he steps out of the car.

"And you could not hold them back?" He asks.

"There were many, and some were Elemental." Jonathan says.

"We didn't have the weapons to block them." Jess adds.

"No excuses." The Inspector cays. I take an immediate dislike to him.

"We have plenty, thank you very much. You can leave now." I say.
