Ken

"Well of course it's empty, we already checked this house." I say, slightly annoyed. "We have to go to the one on the other side of town. Come on down."

We all get into the car and drive to the house His Highness Mr. Inspector had mentioned.

I walk right up to the front door. There is a bit of shuffling inside.

"Break the lock." I tell Jess. She whips out a gun and shoots the lock. When we get in, a couple is sitting alone at a large, wooden table.

"Well, we needed that lock replaced, didn't we?" the woman says.

"Well, look, Jenny has come." the man says.

"Oh, no, that's not Jenny. Jenny has black hair." The woman responds.

"Where are they?" Adam asks.

"Well, Jenny is playing softball, and dear Genus is at the park." The woman answers.

"Where are the mages?" Jonathan asks. The couple begins to laugh.

"Search the house." Jess says. We begin a fruitless search around the house.

"They're not here." I conclude.

"Let's go. There is a house on main street I would like to check." Adam says. We nod, and leave. I shoot the door once more as a warning.

The Magekillers were here.

Adam

The four of them half-jogged down the sidewalk, approaching the house Adam mentioned. The sleek black metal walls of the building seemed to shoot up to the sky. Tiny grey screws aligned the middle of the font portion, where a bloody red door stood, daring them to check inside. Jessica casually approached the door, her hand hovering over the knob as a loud ring emanated from Adam's pocket. She retracted her hand, and all heads turned to the blonde boy.

"Yes?" He answered. The wind blew past them as his eyes rested on each one of them, playing with his hair as he twirled it around his finger. "Don't worry. O- yes, yes. Yes. We won't be long. Bye." The phone snaps shut, and he snapped his fingers thoughtfully. "The uh, there's a house, apparently, belonging to one of the mage's relatives. The inspector is already on his way."

Ken was already sprinting back to the car, and the other's followed suit. Slipping into the front seat, Jessica turned the ignition and glanced at Adam expectantly. He said it was but a few blocks down, and he would direct her. "No address?"

"Just go, I'll show you were it is," he explained, impatiently watching her foot gently rest on the pedal.

"We have a GPS, I can just --"

"Are you stupid?" He said, louder. "Go. We don't have all day." Jessica's eyes widened and she huffed, her nostrils almost flaring as she floored the car. The other three fell back into their seats as they sped along the long, narrow street. Jessica watched the road carefully as Adam, in a low, calm voice directed her through the city. "Turn right, on Eisenhower. No -- No, what are you doing? Eisenhower, Christ.. Now wait at the stop light. You know that you have to wait? Since you don't know how to do anything else, I could only assume.."

She was fuming by the time they pulled up to the quaint, three story home. A large, iron gate sits out front, with a key pad sitting next to it. Jessica pulled up to the gate, her slender finger harshly pressing the white intercom button. Static shuffles through the speakers, and a woman's voice floods into the car. "Yes?"

"Police." She states bluntly. "Let us in." The four magekillers held their breath during the long, long pause. Ken and Trae exchanged glances with Jessica, but Adam simply leaped out of the car. "What are you doing?" She asked, on the verge of slapping him clear across the face.

Adam let out a loud stream of curses before jumping on top of the car. He got down on his knees swiftly, and appeared upside-down next to Jessica's window. "They're hiding the mages, that's why she isn't saying anything. Why are we giving her time?" Before she could respond, Adam gripped the iron bars and made his way over the gate, running toward the house. Trae and Ken got out as well, leaving Jessica to glare at the intercom before also slamming the car door shut.

They were practically at the door when the voice filtered through the speakers again, hushed whispering sprinkled in the background. "Okay, you can come in."

MILLIE

"Trust me," she sighed, "I understand. I'm worried too."

Cutter gave her a shifty smile, both of them understanding. This was real. This was scary. At any moment one of them could be murdered right beneath another's nose.

Cutter's eyes widened and Millie turned her head away ashamed and horrified. She didn't want to think so negative, but she just couldn't help it.

"Police," a voice calls. "Let us in."

Millie looks at Cutter with undeniable horror. "This is-"

"Bad," Cutter nods, trying to take control. "Now hush."

Millie's hands shake and she presses her lips together, clasping her hands behind her back to hide how scared she is. Will this never end? What were the others up to? They had to be alright.

Cutter,

They've found us. Again. And this time, we have no easy way out. I gesture at Millie to follow me, and I levitate a hefty shovel that was leaning against a shed. At least we have some weaponry. I can hear the murderous thoughts of the Magekillers at the front gate. I reach my mind out to the others, including Beth and her husband.

"They've entered the fence," I think, "They're coming in."

Everyone's thoughts are a clamor of terror and hate. I send my thoughts out to Beth.

"Any chance you've got a gun somewhere?"

The tension was rising in the tiny little shed. We could hear the magekillers' footsteps outside. Cutter grabbed a shovel.

"Are you guys ready?" I whispered. Most of them nodded, but they didn't seem very enthusiastic about it. I couldn't blame them. I was scared half to death!

"Here we go." Emmett said. I could tell he was trying to hid the fear in his voice, but I could still here it.

I mentally grabbed hold of the Earth below the shed, ready to use it against the magekillers.

The doors to the shed opened...

~Emmett~

I freeze in almost utter terror as the doors open. Lorei. Lorei's not going to be safe, and there's nothing I can do to protect her here in a battle. Unless maybe I...

I catch Cutter giving me a warning look. <Don't,> he directs at me. Staring back, I pause for less than a second before grabbing Lorei and teleporting the two of us far away.

After we arrive, I look around at our surroundings. We're... in a forest? Well, it was better than the shed, at any rate. Lorei is looking around with a similarly bemused look, before it is replaced with something more akin to anger. "Where are we?" she asks in a dangerous tone of voice, and I attempt to keep my voice neutral.

"We're in the forests bordering your aunt's house. About 7 miles away." There is a silence in which her expression seems to say everything. I hesitate.

"You're going to stay here, where you'll be safe. I'll come back when it's over." I give her a wary look, waiting for some kind of response.
Elizabeth: "There will come a moment when you will have a chance to show it. To do the right thing."
Jack: "I love those moments. I like to wave at them as they pass by."

Just as the shed opened, Emmett took hold of Lorie, teleporting away. I stood there for a send, filled with confusion, fear, and anger all at the same time.

Where did he go? I thought to myself. Would her really leave us like that? He was one of our best fighters! We might not be able to handle this! WHY WOULD HE DO THAT TO US?!?!?!

I knew he had done it all with good intentions, and I also knew that answer to all my mental questions. All these thoughts rushed through my head in less than a second. That's how long I had until the magekillers came in. Each had a gun in one hand.

"Well, well, well." One of them said, the leader I suppose. "What do we have here?" He chuckled twistedly, the aimed his gun at Cutter. "This won't take long." He said, a smirk on his face that made me twitch.

"I don't think so." I said, just as he was about to shoot. I used all my might and mental strength to shoot the Earth beneath us up, blocking the magekillers from inside the shed. I could tell some of them were injured by that.

Emmett appeared right in front of me. I was happy to see him, and that, plus the fact that him landing right in front of me, distracted me. The Earth at the entrance of the shed fell, and the magekillers came back in. This time, they didn't waste any time my speaking.

I sent a mental message to Emmett. Get as many people as you can out of here!

Emmett nodded and grabbed hold of some two other people. He teleported out of there, then came back to get more. I could tell some wanted to stay and fight, and I knew they could, but I didn't want anyone to get hurt. There were a lot of magekillers, and I didn't want to take a risk.

Eventually, only Cutter, Emmett, and I remained. We were a really good team, but I didn't know if we were going to be good enough to beat all of the magekillers.

I take out my gun, and aim it at the teleporting guy. I shoot, but Element-girl blocks it. I swear, and try again. I realize I am out of bullets. I cuss louder.

The girl makes a section of earth throw me against a thorn bush. I feel all the thorn blades pierce my side, and I realize I can't move.

I can't cry for help, that would be weak. I see the world start to spin, I realize I am blacking out. Colors start to whirl around me.

I can't seem to form a coherent thought. Then I am out cold.

Lorei

"You're going to stay here, where you'll be safe. I'll come back when it's over." Emmett says. I open my mouth to speak, but he disappears.

Great. I was alone, in the middle of the woods, with no idea how to get back to normal life. And, to top it off, the guy I loved was off about to fight a bunch of lethal Magekillers. Emmett comes back with the rest, except for Eve and Cutter. If they were staying there to fight....

I realized they were, and started to panic. Millie puts her arm around me.

"He'll be fine." She says. I don't believe her. I can't.

Please, Emmett, be okay. I think, and realize he can't hear me.

Cutter,

The others are gone. It's just me, Catherine and Emmett. The magekillers are watching us warily, from the entrance to the shed. They're pointing guns at us.
<Be ready> I think to Emmett <Try to levitate a gun. Get it away from them>

"It's over," says a magekiller, "Give up, and-,"

"And what?" I challenge, "You'll spare us? Don't give me that shit. You're gonna kill us either way."

"We can be humane," sneers the magekiller, "Or we can inflict as much pain as possible. Your choice."

"You like pain?" Emmett snarls.

<Now!> I think as loudly as possible

Both Emmett and I levitate the guns out of the magekillers' hands and level them at their former owners.

"I think the situation's changed a bit," I say cooly.
