Peter~

Peter was quite taken aback by the carriage's newest passenger; something to do with the boy's distant look and odd way of speaking.

"You're quite the odd one aren't you?" he asked. The boy blinked at him. The look in his eyes told Peter that he didn't register his question...or maybe it was he didn't care. Whatever the case, the boy proceeded to mutter about robots then stare out the window dreamily.

Peter wasn't sure what to say. He looked at Violet. "Oy, I didn't mean to put him off!"

"I dono! Evidently I'm a robot!" She said, her hair turned bright blue. It was odd, the look on her face along with the color change made her look ridiculous.

"Are you?" Kyle asked. Peter could no longer hold back this time and he broke into laughter. Violet laughed too, her cheeks turned red and so did her hair he noticed. Kyle laughed also, which was surprising. The guy had been quite for majority of the carriage ride, Peter just didn't know what to expect from him. He also noticed by the window Alex was smirking too.

The carriage passed through a thick bit of foilage and came out onto a clear path to the school. Storm clouds loomed over Hogwarts from the lakeside and the sky was split between light and black. Peter heard Alex catch his breath.

It could've been his imagination but he thought he heard him say "The Grim." The carriage bounced to a rocky stop in the school's courtyard and the storm suddenly broke out. The area in front Hogwart's great stone steps suddenly bust into confusion with everyone hurrying into the school safe from the rain.

(Ok I got us to the school. This way more people can make an entrance a little easier. Hope that's ok. Comeon! lets keep this going!) =)

Kale-

Kale was the first one out of the carriage, pushing past the others. They had been on about robots or something trivial the whole time. Kale had only half noticed. The sky outside of Hogwarts was ominous.

Once inside the warmth of the building hit him like a blanket. Kale shook out his wet hair and looked around for Jane. There were so many students filling the school and pushing through to the Great Hall. Finally he spotted the bright blonde curls bouncing along the croud and he pushed through the herd to Jane.

"There you are," he said, grabbing her by the arm, "let's get out of this mess."

Jane threw him an annoyed look, "Bye guys!" she called back to her friends. Kale never could remember their names.

"You'll see them inside," he sighed. Girls.

They made their way to the Slytherine table and Jane ran off a few seats down to some other friends of hers he didn't know. Kale took his seat at the very end and waited.

Violet~~

"Well I hope I'm not manufactured," I giggled with the other passengers as we pulled up to the school. Many people huddled to the Ravenclaw table where I found my seat relizing I had just sat down next to the boy I shared a carriage with.

"Hi again!" I beamed, "I'm not lurking on you I swear!"

His eyes wandered back to my hair as I felt it change color again.

"Experiment gone awry," I laughed again my hair as I could tell by the strands was a tabby cat orange.

"Hullo you!" Peter smiled, noting Violet's color change. Tabby cat orange was his favorite color. "Looks like we got doused...I thought I heard we'd have clear skyies in the weather report this mornin'."

"Weather change means bad Karma." Alex had just sat next to them. He was busy studying two forks like a science project. When he spoke, he did so as if the conversation were un-interesting. Peter did however notice the small spark of interest he'd seen in Alex's eyes back when he'd first spoken to Violet in the Carrige.Other than that Peter couldn't tell much about the kid. The boy had a very distant but speculative way of looking at things like someone who's autistic.

"I like you Alex, you always get a good two cents put in," Peter smiled and smaked him on the shoulder.

(Sorry if I keep playing with your character 'Alex' he's just fun to have around. Hope I got his personality right)

Tristin~~

I hopped off the train, my robes still unsettled on my shoulders. For some reason I never got used to them, and seemed to put them on at the last minute, and take them off as soon as possible. Most of the caraiges were full by the time I had gotten off the Express, so I found an empty one, patting the Thestrel as I passed, shrugging off the strange looks the other students were giving me. At least it would be a quiet ride.

I followed the crowd into the Great Hall, and took a seat at Gryffindor table with some friends.

"Fix your robes Tristin, at least TRY and leave a good impression on the first years when they get sorted. Gryffindor was afterall Harry Potter's house, as well as Ron and Hermione's" A girl from across the table said with a laugh.

"Then it should help seeing me like this, it should be comforting knowing that they don't have much to live up to" I retorted with a smile. That same half smile that had carriedme through life. Maybe half was too generous. A quarter smile. That was about right.

I pulled some Chicken Pot Pie onto my plate and began to eat, not even looking up as the new students were sorted. I payed vague attention, but this was my relaxation time, and something told me I was going to wish I had taken every moment of it this year. Then it all went quiet.

"Welcome," thevoice sounded across the whole room, but it was not mean or a shout, just... loud, "Welcome to another great year at Hogwarts."

Now I looked up. I dont see howanyone couldn't. The headmaster stood at the podium, the bronze owl wings spread wide. The professors were spread out on each side, their faces masks, reflecting the words the Headmaster spoke onto the students.

The first years listened with avid curiosity, and even I listened with the same intensity that I had my first year.

Peter~

"Welcome..." The headmaster's voice sang an echo across the great hall;not loud but not quiet either. Peter and everyone else at the ravenclaw table, slytherin, hufflepuff, and Griffindor also gave their attentions to the front podium. The headmaster's first words always captured the audience at the welcoming dinner. Like most upper class men and unlike all first years, Peter paid more attention to noticing the expressions of the staff and others in the student body.

"...Welcome all of you, to Hogwarts."

Proffessor Mcgonagal, as old and catlike as ever, stared out over the student body her eyes glittering but her face a mask. Hagrid, the big lovable guy, sniffling had a handkerchief to face blowing his nose. Peter smiled he could already imagine what the giant was thinking. "Openin' ceremonies alway's give me th' blubbers!" Peter suppressed a chuckle. He considered Hagrid his favorite teacher except for him being terrible in his class. Animals were not Peter's forte' but he found the big guy a fun to talk to.

Peter half listened to the rest of the head master's speech. He'd heard it all before, but he had to admit the man was an artist. No matter how many times his speech was given the man managed to keep his voice grand, captivating , and inviting. The headmaster's voice it's self seemed to embody the excitement of the coming year. Peter couldn't wait, this year no doubt this year was gonna be unlike the others.

A flash of lighting lit the magical ceiling up above, and Peter's thoughts were interrupted. A clatter at the front of the hall made everyone jump even some of the ghosts. A first year girl at the hufflepuff table had caused a small explosion on her plate. A few people snickered while others calmly ignored the interruption. Two second year girls, Patty Sully and Joan Sarah Bella, kindly helped her to her seat. The headmaster's flow didn't falter and he soon finished his speech. Peter looked over at the slytherin table and noticed Kale still sitting by himself. The sight irked him and Peter had an idea. Not paying any heed to Violet or Alex Peter walked right over to the slytherin table and sat next to Kale.

"Hullo, mind if I take seat?" Several slytherins down the table glared at Peter but he ignored them.

Kale-

Kale regarded the boy sitting next to him only momentarily before shrugging and looking back down at his empty plate. He could feel the eyes of others at the table on the two. The school wasn't the same as it used to be, at least from the way his father had descibed it.

Of course, everyone still regarded Slytherine with some air of loathing on occasion; the house was better known as once being run by Severus Snape. So along with loathing came respect. Gryffindor served as it's exapt opposite as usual, but was even more so adored. But the boy came from neither house.

As a first year Kale had expected so much out of Hogwarts. The war was over, it had been for some time. Things were equal, there were no house boundaries or reason to be untrusting. Everyone had been in such a good place then. The school was finally put in order again and the tales of Harry Potter and the Dark Lord were becoming bed time stories more and horrors of yesterday less. But years had passed since his first year and whispers were flooding around again. Kale knew what people thought of him. He knew whose side they all thought he was on. But it was too early for sides. Nothing had happened yet. But it would soon. He could feel it.

"So, um, how was your summer then?" the boy, Peter asked.

Kale sighed and shrugged again. The sorting had barely just finished. He looked down the table and saw Jane talking animatedly to others and eating her dinner. He was worried for his sister all the time because Kale honestly had no idea which side he would pick. People chose to ignore when was coming, or maybe they honestly didn't know, he wasn't sure. He heard things others didn't, things he wanted to protect Jane from.

It was almost cliche but his father did have significant ties to the dark community; ties that had gotten him into trouble a long time ago. But now everything was supposed to be so different, his father was due to Minister for God's sake. Kale was certain his parents would fight against the dark forces. He wasn't certain if he would.

Peter opened his mouth again to speak but Kale rounded on him, "What are you doing here? What do you want?" His voice raised only slightly and he could feel eyes on him again.

Alex Baker

The two spoons clinked together with a clear sound. Alex rotated them, very carefully; one’s concave side in the other’s convex. It worked sort of like a ball bearing, he reasoned, before carefully laying them down and picking up his knife and fork. He poked the knife’s tip through the forks’ prongs, and moved it up and down several times. There. An instant leaver. He tucked away the information for a later use. He did this for every one of his little ‘discoveries’, but he rarely used the knowledge. He took apart his make-shift leaver and began to eat his now cold shepherd’s pie. He vaguely wondered where the Hogwarts kitchen staff had gotten the meat, being miles away from, well, anywhere. He was halfway through his mashed potatoes when something distracted him. Being distracted wasn’t unusual for Alex, but this time what he saw intrigued him. Why was he sitting at the Ravenclaw table? It wasn’t his house, after all. He glanced around and saw the girl with the strange hair, and the boy from the carriage. Had he known where he was sitting down? The tables in the great hall had always confused him, but… no; he had most definitely seen the boy and girl when he had joined them. He also recalled mentioning something to the boy about karma… or had he? It was all vaguely confusing, as he had not been paying particular attention at the time. What was karma, anyway? Why had he mentioned it? This spun him off on an entirely unrelated, and far less troubling, train of thought.

Puddings appeared on the table. Alex turned to heap a spoonful of the house elves’ fabulous ice cream onto his plate when he spotted the girl again. Her hair was a shade lighter at the moment, more of an orange than a red. He spooned the desert onto his plate without looking at her, but in his mind wondered “How does that work? Does it change in the heat? Is she a metamorphmagis? How does their genetic code get to be that way?” His earlier thoughts about her looks floated into the fray. “She looks like she’s churned out in mass quantities by some third world company.” Obviously, he hadn’t said that. Even Alex Baker, who hardly knew the current year, knew enough about manners not to say that. “But still…” he mused, “a very pretty pattern to follow.” From there, he thought about the patterns in the table cloth, and wondered where it was made. It wasn’t particularly related, but that was Alex.

(It is perfectly okay to use Alex – that’s what story boarding is about, right? One thing though. Alex is from Hufflepuff. I know he’s the only Hufflepuff in the SB, but I thought that he might fall under the category of “... the rest,” not being good at much of anything. :D)

Peter~

Some of the slytherins turned, in their direction. The hairs on Peter's neck stood tall. It was no secret that the old clannishness from the old days had started reforming, along with some of the whispers of something dark within the Slytherin house. Many feared that with the chance of another wizard war, the slytherin house might once again choose the dark lord's side.

Peter wasn't worried of course, none of that stuff mattered to him. In fact, he didn't know what to feel about it. Another wizard war would mean the destruction of every thing he'd come to know about the wizarding world. All of the joy it could bring, would be swept away with people's fears and paranoia. Peter had heard all of the stories of Harry and his friends. He'd also heard first person accounts from his grand father. The empty and lifeless sate of diagon alley still flooded his nightmares. To all of that, Peter was no fool and was well aware but what he didn't understand was sitting right in front of him. They had sat in the carriage together, they'd had fun. Peter knew the dark gossip going on in the slytherin house but just couldn't believe that Kale was a bad guy.

"Oy, What's your problem? You're sitting here like a lonely pup. I came to cheer ya up!"

The boy Kale gave him a sour look. "You heard me" was all he said.

"Well mate turns out I've always been bad at hearing-so my mum tells me at least."

Kale didn't reply. Maybe he was ignoring him...maybe he didn't care. Peter didn't know, he just shrugged.

"I'm not letting you sulk on you're own that's all mate." For awhile neither boy sad a word one either ignoring the other or wondering what to say next. Peter nearly lost hope until he felt a body slide next to him.

"Hey! you two look tense!" It was Violet her red hair now turning several shades of purple. Alex had also come, setting down his tray a seat away sneaking inquisitive looks over at Violet. Peter smiled.

"Oy looks like you're popular after all!" Peter said to Kale in triumph.

(ok, i hear ya Kelcia. I like haven him around he's pretty fun with the combination of Violet, Peter, and Kale.)

Kale-

More of them came to the table, a girl and a boy. They came to... what? Talk? Be friends? He could feel the questioning eyes on him from the others in his house. Even Jane was staring now. He looked back at her with anger in his eyes. He simply wanted to be left alone, to be ignored.

Dessert wan on so Kale decided he could leave. He rose from the table, leaving behind an empty plate and a trail of onlookers. Not many others had left the hall yet, in fact when he found himself in the corridors heading toward Slytherine house he was completely alone. Except he wasn't.

Out of the shadows cast by the yellow lights flooding out of classroom doors and bouncing along the walls, stepped a figure. A tall and slim figure of a boy, a student Kale's age. Greggory.

"I'm not in the mood," Kale said, skimming past the boy.

"Have you thought about what we spoke of?" Greggory asked.

Kale stopped and turned, "I said I'm not in the mood."

"Your sister sure grew up over the summer," Greggory said with a sneer.

"You stay away from her," Kale spat back, "far away."

"Or you'll do what? Do you really think you can protect her forever. She'll have to choose her side just as you will. I just hope she makes the right decision, and you too."

"She isn't a part of this, leave her out." But Greggory was already strolling down the hall, whistling something. Kale swore under his breath then continued towards the Slytherine house. He needed sleep.

Jane

Out of the corner of her eye, Jane spotted Kale leaving the hall. Jane frowned to herself. Already? she thought. He's cutting it a bit early this year...

Jane decided something must have really gotten on his nerves. She stood up to follow him. Marie tugged on her robes.

"You aren't leaving already?" she asked, concerned. "Are you feeling well?" Jane glanced down at her.

"I'm fine, Marie, honestly," Jane said quickly. "Look - I'll meet you back in the common room."

Marie frowned, but Jane pulled away and quickly slipped out after her brother. Jane cursed inwardly as she reached the hallway. Kale had completely disappeared. She had been to slow to catch him. After a moment's thought, Jane decided to head down toward the common room. No one would be in there if the feast hadn't ended. Kale probably counted on that fact, hoping for some peace and quiet.

Jane wound her way down toward the castle's dungeons. The hallways were deserted. The emptiness made Jane's skin crawl. She sped up in her march toward the dungeons.

Jane heard footsteps up ahead. She slowed, thinking it was Kale.

It was not. Another sixth year boy was walking down the corridor towards Jane. Jane thought she recognized him from her house, but she couldn't be sure, and Jane didn't really care to put any thought into it. She only sped up again.

Finally, Jane reached the dungeon entrance to the Slytherin house. She remembered the password a prefect had told her before she had climbed into her carriage.

"Runespoor," she muttered. The stone wall warped into a doorway before her eyes. Jane slipped in. Sure enough, Jane spotted her brother's silhouette in front of the fire.

"Hey," said Jane softly, walking toward him. "What has gotten into you tonight, Kale? You seem really upset."

Kale-

Kale stood in front of the fire place for mere minutes before he heard someone else enter. He had been thinking about the things Greggory had said. Why now, he thought, why does everything have to be ruined now. Greggory was just a bad egg from Kale's past, someone who convinced him to do things he shouldn't have.

"Hey," he heard Jane's voice, "What has gotten into you tonight, Kale? You seem really upset." She placed a hand on his shoulder but he only shrugged it off.

"I'm just tired," he said moving away from the fire, "It's been a long day. You know trains always make me tired."

"I don't think that's it," She sprawled out on the floor in front of the crackling flames, smiling up at him.

"Think what you want," Kale shot back, "I'm going to bed." He hadn't meant to be cross with Jane, he didn't want to see that look on her face. But he marched up the stairs to bed with out another word.

Alright so i have a question. below it's in the spoiler.

Spoiler
* Hey, is there a discussion thread for this thing? I'm fine with us going on into another school day but I think that would make this thread die if we didn't go ahead and find away into the main plot. How are we going to start this war? And isn't the rest of this SB supposed to be outside the school? If anybody has any ideas that'd be great.*

Alex Baker

The common room was filling up as Alex entered. People were either making their way up to bed or talking to their friends. Alex, who neither had friends nor the desire to linger in the common room headed off to one of the adjoining staircases. Suddenly, he found his way was blocked by four boys, all with unkind leers on their faces.

“’Allo,” Said one. “We didn’t see you at dinner tonight, Space Case.”

“What happened? Did you walk into the Womping Willow?” Chuckled another.
Alex, who disliked paying attention to anything for any length of time, began to lose interest in the boys.

“Wrong table,” He said mildly, and tried to go past them.

“Oh ho,” the first boy said as his friends jeered. What was his name again? Alex couldn’t quite remember…

“I always knew that you were a retard, but getting the tables confused?”

He was going to say more, but at that point Alex shoved past him, ignoring the gang. Enough was enough. He disliked paying attention at the best of times, but when paying attention meant that you were being insulted… well, then, it was practically foolish to keep listening. Alex switched himself off as he went up the stairs, thinking only of the stones beneath his feet. He forgot completely the confrontation below, and with slothful movements got ready for bed.

***

He sat on the window seat in his pajamas, gazing with glassy-eyed intensity at the Hogwarts grounds. By chance, his eyes had wandered to the forbidden forest when it happened. There was a bright spark, as of wand light, and the screech of an owl. Alex, puzzled, leaned forward, even more alert than he had been during the confrontation an hour ago. The light continued for twenty minutes before finally extinguishing itself. Something in the trees stirred, then took off into the night on silent wings. Alex’s eyes followed the silhouette with difficulty; darkness had fallen some time ago, and only the light of the crescent moon illuminated the grounds. As the shape faded into the darkness, Alex thought he heard, some distance away, the screech of an owl.
He went to bed, worried, thinking of the light in the forest. A message had been sent, he was almost sure of it, and he tried not to imagine what that could mean. But still, his thoughts spoke of their own accord. They said things like, “Deatheaters,” “The dark side,” and “possible war.” But, the thought that struck Alex as the most likely was also the simplest one. “Trouble”.

Spoiler
Hi. I left an opening for the beginning of the invasion in this post. I thought it might start very subtly, with someone telling the boss that all the students had arrived. As for ideas about the plot, I don’t think it should be Voldemort coming back from the dead. That would be one, illogical, and, two, over done. I think it should be a normal person, discontented with the peaceful way of life and has the power to change the state of things. He (or she) would rally the old death eaters, recruit new ones, and, basically, become the new dark wizard of the age. Only, he can’t be as powerful as Voldemort. Well, that’s my idea, anyway. :D

Ok, I agree with the thought that we should do it tonight. Everyone has set it up beautifully, so it shouldn't be much of a problem. My idea for the whole war goes like this. School is attacked, and the characters al find themselves together, and eventually the school is overwhelmed and they have to either escape and try and fight back, or stay and be under the reign of the dark magicians.

At the same time the Minister of Magic was killed and replaced by a puppet, as well as almost every other major power in the magical world. So, basically in one night the situation becomes as bad as it was in Deathly Hollows, except this time there are no prophecies, and no one knows who the leader is.

So what we have to do is find him, and kill him. Im still trying to think of something to make him special, so if you have ny suggestions feel free to pos them, and there is not a DT.
