Premise. You belong to an elite group of teen superheroes - yes, I mean superheroes, complete with costumes, names and of course, a secret identity. You go to school like any other kid and you keep your head down low, because if anyone were to find out about you, both you and yours would be in danger. You take to the city at night, fighting crime with powers, weapons, martial arts, advanced robotics and a deadly persistence. You're unaware that every day, in your civilian life, you come face to face with the people who stand by your side in the night.

I'd like this to be very character-based, rather than in furthering along the plot. You go to school with all your team, so there will be a lot of wonderful dramatic irony going on all the time. Don't make your actions too obvious, but certainly we can have characters guessing, telling, hiding their identities and those of others, and also a couple of characters who're just toying with the others if you want. Maybe somebody's seen something they shouldn't have? This has a lot of potential for characters if you get into it. Not saying you need to consider yourself a wonderful writer to take part; everyone's welcome.

EDIT: I'll allow three villains, if anyone wants them, but there will be no huge battles/showdowns. This is mostly about the everyday lives of the characters rather than their superhero exploits.

Powers: If any. One only, please, and that mean one element and not all four, you elementals out there. How did they get these powers? Think genetically engineered spiders as opposed to from birth, unless you're an alien from Krypton.

Weapons/Skills: Skills = martial arts, and suchlike, by the way.
Other: Up for love? Already with someone? Know of any identities already? (Please, not many who do.)

Superhero's Name: Metal Canary

Age: 17

Gender: Female

Appearance: Marlaina, or just plain Laina, had shoulder length blonde hair with black under tones and bright metallic-colored eyes that she usually hides behind sunglasses when she's not in costume to hide her identity.

Costume: Laina wears a black, short legged, short sleeved jumpsuit with elegant looking white gloves. She also wears black fishnet tights and ends her wardrobe with a ornately decorated black and white mask and white, knee high boots.

Personality: Laina, when she's not in her super-hero form, she's very calm and collected, and hardly every noticed around school. She hides, yes hides, behind her books and a pair of thick rimmed glasses even though she wears color-changing contacts, mainly to hide the color of her eyes. She's a girl you wouldn't expect to be the Metal Canary.

Now, when she's the Metal Canary, she's a totally different person. She's full of spit-fire energy and never gives up on something's she put her mind to. She's extremely loud, competitive, and outgoing.

Powers: Marlana, or Metal Canary, can take on the form of any animal. Any. However, instead of being an actual, living, breathing animal, she looks more like a robot, hence the title Metal Canary. Her powers came to her after a large, labratory spill into the lake she and her friends always went to. She jumped in, despite her friends warnings, and thus, gained her powers.

Weapons/Skills: Horse whip, made of thin wires that also generates electricity. She's very dark, and thus her darkness is reflected in her weapons, which also include a small mace, that also generates electricity and one she can expand at will. However, the weight doesn't change.

Appearance: She reminds most of that girl that you see in a crowd then you wished you talked to her. She has dark dark dark brown hair that is almost black but isn't, it fal about five inches past her shoulders. Her bangs are shorter than the rest of her hair making short bangs that fall above her nose (she swoops them to the side). Her eyes are a neon like blue.

Costume: A one piece jumpsuit deal that central part is black and outer rims is blue. Her mask is the same deal.

Personality: Happy with a splash of dark secrets and smiles. Her ability to make friends is outstanding, questionable maybe? Her smile can light a dark room but when she is pissed, watch out duckies! She likes revenge but ony to a point, that's why she left the baddies.

Powers: She can control weather to a certain point, and her emotions effect the weather of the area that she is in. If she is in a PMS mood it's out of control, and if shes happy it's a perfect day for a picnic!

How she got her powers: Her father was a twisted mad scientist and kind of expierimented on her, alot. HE died in some type of explosion.

Weapons/Skills: Skills = Her father (before he died) was working on a hoverdisk that Lume now uses to get paces in a speedy pace. It kind of rides like a skateboard in the air, except without wheels and sort of more than 30 feet above the ground.

Other: Up for love. She used to be a villian but got bored with the fact that the villians always lost, plus on the inside Faye is a really nice person

Real Name: Nick Johnson
Super-villain's Name: Mynah
Age: 18
Gender: Male
Appearance: Medium height, gymnast's build, hazel eyes, brown hair. Wire-rimmed rectangular glasses. Usually wears sweaters in muted colors and either khakis or jeans.
Costume: Black suit and mask with a yellow tie. Simple yet striking.
Personality: As a civilian, he is quiet, mild-mannered, and easy to get along with. He's the sort of guy you could have in every class with and still not know he exists. Not even his friends know him very well, and he is the typical ignored middle child at home. As a super-villain, he is witty, charming, and much bolder than his usual self. He feels more confident in costume.
Power: Sound manipulation. He can imitate any noise he's ever heard and then some, including incapacitating loud and/or high-pitched noises and low notes that cause shock-waves. He can also muffle or silence noises, allowing him to move silently and even mute others for a period of time. This comes with exemplary hearing. Nick got his powers while getting a CAT scan five years ago after getting a concussion. The machine malfunctioned and exposed him to more radiation than necessary, causing a freak mutation in his brain manifesting itself in his ability to manipulate sound waves.
Weapons/Skills: Took gymnastics for a time, so he's agile and good at climbing, etc. Intelligent and resourceful. Plays the bassoon, though that probably doesn't count.
Other: Up for love. His main goal as a villain is recognition for his achievements, as he can't seem to get any sort of attention as Nick Johnson. His various exploits tend to either help him in some way or make fools out of the super heroes and the police. These exploits run the range from defacing public property and frightening people to large-scale robberies and abduction. Not about to kill anyone though.

Appearance: She has silvery white blonde hair, that's slightly wavy and reaches a bit past her shoulder. She is tall, standing about 5'10'' and svelte. She has one green eye and one violet eye. She has elegant features, a pale seemingly colourless complexion and and a stone cold glare.

Costume: She wears a silvery jumpsuit. She wears a silver circlet. (Here) Also knee high prismatic boots.

Personality:
Out of Costume~ She is pretty down to earth, quiet and introspective when out of costume. She tries not to draw attention to herself. She doesn't slink around but she does things quietly and unnoticeable. She tries to keep her expectations average and blends in rather well. Outside of her costume, she is just another face out of hundreds.
In Costume: She is considerably more bold, daring and impulsive. She is very tough and although does not show her anger through yelling, she can make her whole aura cold and hard. She is tough and defiant and sometimes cold. When she's mad at you, you're scared. She is passionate and although not quick to trust, she forms strong loyal friendships. She is a free thinker and is really, once you melt her icy shell, very sweet and passionate.

Powers: She is a water and ice elemental. When she fell through an ice skating rink into waters where radioactive waste was illegally disposed of, she gained her powers.

Weapons/Skills: She uses a long silver whip that has bright star-light light strands seemingly woven into it. (Was originally the rope used to pull her out of the water.) She also has ninja stars that she uses every so often. (She makes them herself out of freeze-dried ice.)

Real Name: Conor Maken

Superhero's Name: Marrow

Age: 17

Costume: He doesn't go with the normal superhero spandex stuff, because it would be too pricey to replace after every mission. He dresses in sweat pants, and a plain hoodie, with sun glasses and the hood up to hide his face.

Personality:
He jokes around in class, and doesn't really take life too seriously, and with his powers he thinks he is all set, that and he is a sports jock and so long as he gets by he can get into school. Plus the whole medical stuff came to him naturally, once he applied to to fighting and sports to help him.

When he is in his costume he tends to be really involved, and serious about everything. Finding that then anything he does might decide the fate of a life, or more. Not exactly aggressive, or ruthless, but he doesn't let up on the law breakers, not wanting them to think of the team as completely evil, yet making sure they don't think of doing it again. Many people, off the team, think he is not really fit for the team, because he usually come off as violent, and to some a "demon" because of his powers.

Powers: He manipulates his bones, allowing to grow more and makes weapons from them. His body can produce its own calcium as well, if it didn't his bones would break a part. Still he tries to get as much calcium he can in food and drinks to keep it up.

Weapons/Skills: He is skilled in swords, maces, and stoves, made of bones of course. He also knows a great deal about the human body, and ways to hit to make his fighting more effective.

How he obtained his powers: One vacation three years ago he visited an Amish village, which was in an unfortunate location. A factory was bad at dumping chemicals, which got into that villages animal's water. He had some of their milk, which mutated him and gave him his powers.

Costume: A black jumpsuit with a single white lighting bolt across the chest, she wears a mask like the phantom of the opera's, but silver.

Personality: Kara is very protective of the people she loves, and would gladly take a bullet for any of them. She doesn't make many friends because she has a split personality. One minute she'll be perfectly calm, and the next she'll be throwing things around and shouting. This makes her very unpredictable. She is also extremely opinionated, and sensitive when it comes to insults or anyting that could hurt her emotionally. Most phsyicall pain she can endure. ((She is, in fact, a black belt in Tae Kwon Do.)) In her free time she enjoys reading, drawing, and playing with her little sister. She just recently moved into the town, so she hasn't got any friends yet.

Powers: Kara can manipulate electricity in any way she likes. Her power comes from a reserve within her body. She has to 'recharge' her energy by touching electrical sockets, or even going so far as going into an electrical plant. The more energy she has, the more powerful and strong she is. If she has all the energy she can handle, her hair will begin crackling, and if you touch her, you'll get a small electrical shock.
She got her powers when she snuck into an electrical plant on a dare. She fell off of a catwalk and landed inside the generator. When she woke up in the hospital a week and a half later, she discovered her power.

Weapons/Skills: She carries a dagger, through which she can channel electrical current into a thin powerful beam. Like a laser gun pretty much. She also has a black belt in Tae Kwon Do.

Personality: When at school she's chatty, funny, and giggly. She's on the popular side and she's one of the people you want to find something to hate about them for being so perfect but you just can't. When she's fighting, she's serious and smarter. She's very strategic when she's focused on fighting and has good reflexes. She loves to sing and draw too when she isn't fighting.

Powers: Dalia can enter your mind (physically and/or mantally) and control you through your thoughts by humming a low buzzing noise that makes her opponent mesmerized for a moment, just long enough for her to go into the mind and control it. Unfortuneately, she can only do this a limited amount of time and has to be about ten feet away from the person to do it. She doesn't know if it will be strong enough to work on a huge monster or not, so she spends her time trying to make it stronger. She discovered her power a year after being struck by lightning at ten years old. She became Mistique at thirteen and has helped fight small crime since, until now, when she joined the group.

Weapons/ Skills: She took gymnastics and cheerleading since 4th grade and martial art for a year so she has good moves and she's quick on her feet. She does on occasion bring a ninja blade if the fight is going to be tough.
