Ashlyn

Ashlyn laughed as the dogems started up again. Then, she felt something in her head. Someone...or something was wrong. She took her hands off the steering wheel and placed them on either side of her head. Tears gathered in the corners of her eyes. It felt like her head was about to split wide open.

Another car hit hers, only making the pain worse.

"Mikael!" She cried out, half with her mind, half yelling with her voice. He would feel her common presense their.

Something was terribly wrong and whatever was going on, whoever was giving her this mental headache, had more mind power than she did. Something Ashlyn had hardly expeirenced since Tarragon.
Hermione, shut your ungodly, lopsided mouth and quit interrupting! 20 points from Gryffindor. You know, for the brightest witch of your age you can sure be a dumba** sometimes. *smiles* 10 points to Dumbledore!

Also, Evan, April, and Sky are heading towards the fair because some nondescript something is going on. I think we are waiting for something to actually happen before showing up.

I'm so sorry you guys, I went away. I should have told someone but I thought with YWS being down everyone would have forgotten about it for a while.

Quin

Quin's face turned a ghastly pale.

"You've been very... distant, Mr Ateya" hissed a voice down the phone "In fact most of your little freak friends have been."

From the corner of his eye he watched Sonnet pull away from the crowd, but Ashlyn dragged her back. He choked back a scream.

"What the hell do you want?" he whispered.

"I wouldn't take that tone Mr Ateya. Turn you head to the left, about 90 degrees or so"

He looked back to where the candy floss stall stood, two metres from the dodgems. A mother and her two children were at the stall, laughing as the youngest fashioned himself a beard out of candy floss.

"Now do you see the black box on top of the counter"

His eyes focused almost instantly onto the small container, even from ten meters away it was clearly visible.

"That's a bomb that I can self activate now"

Without thinking he spoke again "Okay, anything, what do you want?"

"We want to know everything Mr Ateya, Everything about you and your little freak friends, every tiny little detail." the voice paused the took a more malicious tone "Every first look... first kiss..."

Quin couldn't contain himself any longer "Your sick!" he spat down the phone.

The voice laughed "And just for that I'm sure we can pay your friend's on the dodgems a quick visit."

"So you better fess up bird boy, before it's to late."

Let's try to get this moving again. =)

Evan

The group arrived at the fair faster than Evan expected. The air was tense, but it was subtle and only something that someone used to tension could feel. Most of the people like him, what everyone called freaks, were used to tension and could probably feel it too.

"I don't have a good feeling about this," April said warrily. She looked around and eventually ran over to a large oak tree. She sat at the base of it and waved the rest off. "If anything happens, I want to be ready to help."

Evan nodded and started moving, Schuyler at his side. "So what do you suppose is going down here today?" Evan asked her.

She opened her mouth to respond, but Evan noticed something first. His father.

Evan mumbled a curse under his breath. "Stay here," he told Sky and ran to his father.

"What are you doing here?" Evan demanded when he reached his father.

He smiled evily and patted Evan on the shoulder. "I've been a terrible father. I hope you never forgive me."

"What are you talking about?" Evan asked. This was odd, even for his father.

"Evan, you know how much I hate you, right?" he said. "Well, I've finally done something about it. I recently came into contact with an organization, an organization obessed with you and the other freaks running around this city. God knows what exactly they want with you. I just let them in on where they might find several freaks."

Evan could believe this, his father had never been this...evil before.

"I'll never forgive you for what you did all those years ago, and now I hope you never forgive me. I never want to see you again," his father said. He then turned and walked away, dissapearing into the crowd.

The rage boiled inside Evan. It was too much to handle. Evan had to lash out, and he lashed out in the most public and destructive way available at the moment. He turned and shot a wave of fire over a corndog booth, all the while screaming and cursing.

Sky was soon at his side. "Evan! Stop that!" she yelled.

Evan turned to her. He was overcome with his rage, and it showed. He couldn't put words into being, all he could do was growl at Sky and take down another booth that held an unpopular carnival game.

YAY!

Sonnet

The dodgem ride came to an abrupt halt as Sonnet heard Ashlyn yell from her dodgem. Sonnet braked and clambered out of her cart, jumping onto the stand around the outside of the ring, narrowly missing being run over by a dodgem.

Her eyes widened in alarm as she saw Ashlyn, gripping her head and gritting her teeth in pain as the dodgems continued to bully her own one around the ring. Mikael got to her first, pulling her carefully out of her dodgems by the under arms as Sonnet meandered through the carts and towards her friends. Mikael carefully set her down upon a nearby bench, as Sonnet tried to pry Ashlyn's clenched hands from her hair.

"Ashlyn?" she said softly, hiding the panic in her voice.

"It's okay, I've got her. Go and get her some water, would you?" Mikael said distractedly, trying to soothe Ashlyn.

Sonnet got up reluctantly, shooting a fleeting glance over her shoulder before turning and seeking out Quin again amongst the crowds. Her stomach twisted uncomfortably when she couldn't see him.

Shaking her head back on track, she headed to the nearest vendor that was selling water. She saw a candy floss stall nearby, with some bottles lined up on the counter. She headed over to the counter, fishing a few coins out of her pocket.

ahhh, nooo!!!! Sonnet!!! Noooo!!!!

Quin

"So you better fess up bird boy, before it's to late."

That's when he saw her, by the stall. Her hair billowing in the wind as she snatched a bottle of water from the shelf.

"Okay." he whispered.

That's when the questions started, firing at him one after another. They wanted the names, then the addresses, relationships, histories, powers, weaknesses. Quin didn't have enough energy to put up a fight, he told them with hesitation. It was only when they reached Sonnet that he paused.

"So..." the voice began "Lets start talking about your little Several friend. What's her little secrets..."

He gritted his teeth together. She would hate him for it. "I called her stilts..." he began slowly, his voice shaking "Her family disowned her, she ran away to the woods, lived wild for a few months before she came to Tarragon.... I love her."

The voice let out a sudden quick laugh "Brilliant. So let's get down and personal, what's it like in the bedroom?"

"No" he said fiercely. He felt his arms start to shake, acid rising in his stomach. "No."

"Mr Ateya, can I remind you..." the voice growled, but he interrupted "No."

He glanced over at Sonnet, she had a bottle of water pressed into her palm, heading back the dodgems. But too close, though Quin, she was too close.
He didn't know much about dynamite but with his sharp falcon senses he could smell the explosive powder settled in the box. There was a lot of it, too much.

The voice was low and sudden when it spoke next "This is your last chance Mr Ateya"

He didn't let himself think. He dropped the phone to the the ground, took a deep breath and shouted as loud as vocal chords would allow him "Run Sonnet!!!"

He didn't hear the thud of her feet, the explosion was too loud.

Sonnet

She had heard his cry only split seconds before the mighty blast shook the fair. Instantly listening to her instinct, she shifted to her serval form and took the the ground on her paws as the horrible blast sent her flying across the ground in a terrible flaming blur.

She felt the cold embrace of a metallic object smashing against her head, then...

Nothing.

When she opened her green eyes, they widened in shock as angry red flames devoured the fair, the screams of families heard distantly as they fled the carnage. She blinked woozily, wincing as the pain came to her in one terrible wave. She yowled, hearing the strangely distant sound of her own call as she got to her paws, her head twitching oddly as something warm and wet trickled down it.

She shook her head, ears now swiveling madly on her head and trying to pick up the sound of her friends. But the screams and crackle of flames were getting quieter and quieter as her energy slowly dribbled out of her. With hazy thoughts, she looked around her and tried to source the blast. And with the most terrifying feeling, she realised it had come from only meters where she had last seen Quin.

She quickened her stagger, her head hanging low and her jaw slackened as she stumbled through the destroyed fair grounds, flames licking greedily at her spotted fur and singing the beautiful patterns.

Her steps got fewer in between and more sloppy as she neared the remains of the candy floss stand. She yowled, but this time her ears picked up no sound as her paws caved in and she sank to the ground.

As a strange greyness descended on her vision she only hoped that her friends had managed to escape. She rolled onto her back as the pain seemed to cease, looking up at the smoke blackened sky and only hoping that Quin was soaring high above the danger.

She looked down again, rolling onto her side and knowing she could do nothing to stop the onslaught of flames that were now surrounding her. In one final attempt of escape, she got shakily to her paws and threw herself through the fire's wall of fury, feeling it burn angrily on her fur as she hit the ground on the other side, choking and gasping from the thick smoke.

Her energy gone, she felt the world slowly zapping away until she was devoured by the wonderful bliss of the nothingness again, passing out on the fair grounds as the carnage continued around her.

Mikael

I lifted Ashlyn from her car and carried her over to a bench before sending Sonnet for water. A few moments later our quiet little patch was rocked by an explosion. Without thinking i threw myself over Ashlyn, taking as much of the force as i could before we were hurled across the fair.
I could feel blackness clouding the edge of my vision and i could smell the burnt flesh on my back. As i watched the ragged edges of my skin began to heal over the gleaming white mass of my spine.
"That was an explosion and a half," i thought out loud. "I should know. It's what i do."
I heard a splutter that sounded like a laugh from Ashlyn, still rolled up in a ball in my arms.
I have looked into the eye of the storm and stared it down. I am an adrenaline junky and i know no fear.
