Ashlyn

Ashlyn gave a strained laugh, shivering a little from the pleasure of being so close to Mikael. After the explosion...it was like her headache vanished. She felt with her mind for Sonnet...only to find that her thoughts were weak and painful.

Ashlyn jumped up, pulling Mikael with her. "Sonnet!" She cried, rushing towards her.

Ashlyn gripped Mikael's hand tightly, causing him to grimace a little, as she lead him to where Sonnet's thought's were. She was badly injured and unconscious. If she or Mikael didn't help her soon the damage would be worse. She didn't want to think of that.

"Quin!?" Se called, searching for him as well. Ashlyn was trying to stay calm but this was definetly not a calm situation.

*the tension rises...

Quin

The blast knocked him backwards and he shifted automatically . The force of the explosion seemed even greater in his small eagle body, but his wings channeled the force upwards and he soared into the sky. The flames licked at his wings. He smelled burning flesh, though he didn't feel anything.

He searched the charred remains of the fairground for Sonnet, but the smoke engulfed his vision. He was blind to the world... of maybe just her. He felt a wash of realisation surge over him, what had he done? To Ashlyn, To Mikael...the whole of Tarragon College. He'd betrayed them, and then he wouldn't be selfless enough to give away one small detail of his personal life. And now Sonnet would be lying in the debry, dead, dying, did it really make any difference?
Quin's stomach lurched in disgust of himself, and he began to feel the full onslaught of his grief. Spiraling clumsily down to the ground he shifted back to a boy, because birds couldn't cry, and right now Quin needed to.

In the midst of the smoke and flames, he stood numbly. The engagement ring tumbled out of his pocket and into the mud. He took a long look at the small lilac casing, then fell to his knees and wept.

Let's bring Evan on in to the chaos =)

Evan

The explosion devestated the entire fair. Families rushed away from the center of the panic, and only a few rushed in. Turns out there were more "freaks" at the fair than Evan had expected. Besides him, April, and Sky, there were a few others than Evan slightly recognized from his short stay at Tarragon. He suddenly regretted not making any friends, as this day may be the end.

Evan lost track of Sky in the confusion and soon found himself approaching a guy losing it on the ground.

"Hey, you alright man?" Evan asked.

The guy looked up at him, his face wet with tears. "I c-could n-never be o-okay," he choked. Evan seemed to recall this guy's face, a passing image at the college.

"Okay well then, you are about to me a lot worse off if we don't get out of here pronto," Evan said. "Bad things are going down, and who knows what's next to come."

The guy shook his head. "No, j-just leave me here to d-die."

Evan rolled his eyes. "Listen to me, you are going to act like a man and get up and either get out of here or help me make sure everyone else gets out. This is not a good place for people like us to be."

"People like us?"

Evan nodded. "I saw you change from a bird. I'm an elemental. Now, enough small talk. Do something."

The guy got up and walked away. Evan wasn't sure if he was actually doing something he had suggested, or if he just wanted to go die as far away from Evan as he possibly could. Evan was past caring, he needed to help others.

Before he ran off, he noticed a small lilac box on the ground. He picked it up and flipped it open to reveal an engagement ring. Evan looked around, but the guy was nowhere in sight. He pocketed the ring in case he ever saw the guy again, or if he could find who it was meant for. He then noticed three people grouped through the smoke, so he headed for them.

"Everything okay?" he asked.

One of the girls was freaking out, and yelling for someone named Quin. Another guy was trying to calm her down, and tending to an unconcious girl on the ground at the same time.

"No, everything is not okay." the guy said, tense.

Evan looked over the girl on the ground. She was in fact unconcious, and pretty badly injured, but she looked like she would survive to Evan. So he bent over and scooped her up in his arms. "We need to leave, now." he said.

"Put her down!" the guy insisted. "Moving her could hurt her!"

"Staying here will hurt her." he said. "Now grab Miss Crazy over there and let's leave."

The guy finally complied and went to grab the other girl. Evan looked to the girl in his arms. Her eyes fluttered open for a moment. "Well hey there, pretty lady." Evan said. Dammit, even in dangerous situations his fire side made him come on to good looking girls.

Luckily, the girl was too weak and her eyes fell shut again. Evan turned and ran after the other two.

*sorry it's so long! I was on a roll*

April~~

The explosion rattled the ground shaking the roots of the oak tree. The fair was in frenzy, that was definitely a sonic boom and April had one person in mind who could do that with just the rise of their mouth. April's face fell into a hard line, most of the people were running as if the god of chaos had walked there herself. Her body tried to move but the branches held her back as if they were trying to protect her from the item that was unfolding in front of them.

"I'll be fine," She whispered like the wind, the tree get her go but she grabbed some acorns on the ground.

She ran amoungst the crowd, going the opposite way of the current. Someone was on the ground, others were around her. Evan was around her, but April couldn't hear any words she was focused on the person on the ground. Then noticed she was too far away to help. She was being pulled back by the crowd, no by a hand a stong one. April felt her body falling to the ground but being caught by a pair of arms.

~~~~~~~
"Hi there sunshine," April's eyes flickered open.
*anyone wanna be kidnapped with my April??**
**Ashlyn's not exacly losing it. ^_^ Haha, she's a little stressed, yes, not craxy though.
Oh and Lizzifer, I'll be caught with you. (:**
Ashlyn
She pushed Mikael off of her. "Get your hands off of Sonnet," she growled.
"Were you not listening to what I said?" He asked. "We need to get her out of here to keep her safe and-"
"I heard what you said," Ashlyn replied, angrily. "And guess what? I don't need your help. I've got to ontact Quin. He's off my...radar, I guess you could call it. Now, you go play hero somewhere else."
The boy looked taken a little surprised and offended. "Look, you find this Quin guy and I'll take erm," he paused looking at Sonnet. "Sonnet to safety."
"Like hell you will!" Ashlyn yelled. "Someone obviously blew this place to shreads and it could be you. I don't trust you."
"Then send that guy with me," the boy shrugged, pointing to Mikael. Ashlyn bit her lip. She didn't want to seperate with him. Mikael was the one who kept her calm. They had hardly been seperated since the Tarragon prom.
"No way," Mikael said speaking for the first time. He put his arm around Ashlyn's shoulders and she leaned into him a little.
"That's how it's got to be," Ashlyn told him. She could feel her eyes starting to fill. Running a hand through her tangled hair, she tore away from him.
"Ashlyn, don't start," Mikael responded, reaching towards her.
"What about Quin?" She asked. "I've got to go find him and you know it. Something is hiding him from my mind and I have a feeling it's what gave me that headache from earlier. I've got to do this."
Mikael shook his head angrily. "And there is no way I can talk you out of this?" He asked.
Ashlyn smiled a little and shook her head. Out of a leap of faith she walked towards him and kissed him lightly on the cheek. "Keep Sonnet safe," she whispered in his ear. "And please, please, please, keep yourself safe."
Ashlyn ran away from him and towards the debree. Mikael, Sonnet and the other guy, who's name she didn't catch, had already faded away. She used her mind to feel for Quin but felt two other people.
"Look!" One of them called. "Another one of those freaks!"
Ashlyn felt something tackle her.
"Get off!" Ashlyn screamed, using her mind control to get them to walk away. Then he was off of her and walking backwards, as if in a trance.
She turned to find the other one and felt a blunt object hit her head, causing her to fall to the ground, unconscious.
---
Ashlyn blinked rapidly. She felt the presence of another girl. She was beside her and had most certainly been kidnapped with Ashlyn.
"Hi there Sunshine," he spoke to the girl, then turned towards Ashlyn.
"And hello to you little Mind freak," he laughed. Ashlyn was about to force him to let her go when he shook his head and laughed.
"I don't think so," he replied. "You see, you try to use you're freak powers and," he snapped his fingers just as Ashlyn's crazy headache returned. She cried out without meaning to.
"You see," he laughed as the pain went away. "Let's not use that mind control."
**And the plot thickens. ^_^**
*ahahh Evan flirted with Sonnet!!!! Grrrr!!!!
Quin
It was then that Quin saw a girl through the mist. She was clutched in the arms of a man. Her face was a ghostly pale, limbs hanging limp and useless in his arms, her eyes flickered lifelessly. He saw her properly, she was Sonnet.
And for one second he felt like breaking down again, like falling back to his knees, because seeing her like that was almost a confirmation, she was dead. But then he realized who that girl exactly was, it was Sonnet, Stilts. His best friend, his love, his whole life. He stumbled towards her through the mist, so much mist. He tried to fight his way through but it enclosed him, inside and out until his head was a swirling blank of white. What was happening to him?
Then even though he couldn't see her through the mist, there skin was suddenly touching and he collapsed against the man and Sonnet, dragging them into the mud.
"Sonnet" Quin moaned, reaching down to her hand. He grasped it tightly and felt a weak squeeze back.
She's alive! he thought, singing it over and over again in his head. She's alive! She's alive! She's really alive!
And then his vision turned black.
Sonnet
She was pulled from the bliss of the nothingness by something gripping her hand tightly. Slowly her senses began to come back, weaker than they'd ever been. Touch came first. She felt strong arms holding her up, a hand clutched in her own and the wet sticky feeling around her head. Then came the pain. Her eyes shut themselves tighter as a little hiss of pain escaped her mouth, the maddening throb in her head bashing against her skull harder and harder until she couldn't bear it.
Her eyes flickered open for a second, to catch several images around her. Mikael was to her left and looking angrily at whoever was holding her up, half crouched on the ground. As her eyes began to droop again, they lowered to the ground and there was Quin lying beside Mikael, evidently passed out. She attempted to move her left hand towards him, but a sudden horror came over it when the muscles refused to function. Instead she reached with her other hand, her cold hand brushing the side of his face.
"Look, she's awake," said a stranger voice, causing her to jump in alarm and try twist out of the stranger's arms weakly. "Whoa, hey there," the voice said again, when she had slumped limply again, panting with the effort to stay awake. As her head brushed against the back of his shirt she had to bite hard on her tongue to stop herself crying out from the pain.
"You're hurting her," Mikael growled, standing up from where Quin lay and clenching his jaw.
Sonnet attempted to twist out of his arms again, but her body failed her and refused to move. "Mikael," she mumbled weakly.
Her eyes opened again to see Mikael's face in front of hers, forehead creased into a worried frown. "How you feeling?"
She spluttered, trying to find her voice but the smoke was still thick in her lungs. Her eyes rolled madly back in her head again, and the nothingness was back again.
It continued like this for a while, she slipping in and out of consciousness, the pain only getting worse and her muscles getting weaker. Every so often her tongue would prickle strangely and she would be sick as her head began to throb even more painfully.
She heard the scream of sirens in the distance as she went under once more.
Quin
The hospital was busy and overcrowded. Victims of the explosion were hauled on every available bed. Quin came round slowly, only he wasn't in a bed, he was slumped on a rather uncomfortable chair. And his head was unusually clear, the mist was gone.
He looked up wearily, Mikael was sitting on the edge of his chair.
"Mikael?" he whispered.
Mikael turned to him suddenly "Oh god Quin, your awake! Did you see Ashlyn? Where was she!! She's gone!"
He talked too quickly for Quin to process, jumpy words that jumbled together into a jumpy sentence. Quin ignored him "Sonnet?!"
"Oh" he said off hand "She's down the hall"
He stumbled to his feet and made his way down the corridor. He was still numb from the shock. The shock of seeing Sonnet like that, barley breathing, hardly moving. It made him shiver.
As he made his way down the hallway, the patients started to change. At first they were grumbling, sat up on stretchers with slings around there arms. But slowly they began to get worse as he traveled down the corridor, blood stains seeping out of ill bandaged wounds. People getting shocks on there chest to restart there heart. Finally he reached the intensive car unit, Sonnet was in the first bed he saw. The man was with her, clutching her hand.
"It's alright, your gonna be alright" he soothed.
Despite the fact Sonnet wasn't even conscious, despite the fact it was his fault she was here in the first place, he still felt jealousy, anger. He had no right.
"Get away from her" Quin half snarled.
The man jumped, then looked at him properly "Oh it's you, hi bird boy."
*come on Lauren! I wanna have a fight over Sonnet's death bed! haha lol
Ashlyn
The men seemed to get pleasure out of hurting the girl and Ashlyn. She refused to even let out a whimper as the headaches grew more brutal. They would stop and come again. Repeating it every now and then.
"Let's go," one man insisted finally. "It's no use. She's not yelling anymore."
Another man grumbled and she felt the residue of her last headache fade away.
"Don't try anything funny, freaks," the man spat out before he closed the door one them. Ashlyn heard the girl in the room with her let out a choked sobbing sound. She tried to scoot closer to the girl and comfort her.
"It's going to be alright," she sighed. "I'm Ashlyn, by the way. Not 'mind freak or whatever the hell he's calling me now." The girl did laugh at her meager attempts at being funny.
"I'm April," she whispered. "Do you know any reason on why we might be here?"
Ashlyn sighed. "I don't know. I was at the fair with a group of my friends and...well, it just blew up. My friend Sonnet was hurt bad," Ashlyn told her biting her lip. "Then there was Quin who I was supposed to go looking for but I suspect that I couldn't find them becuase these people are blocking my mind control. That's how I would sense Quin and his thoughts."
"So these people...you don't think they were the ones who bombed the fair, do you?" She asked.
"I would hope that wasn't the case, but all the evidence proves me wrong," Ashlyn sighed, sadly. "The worse part is, is the fact that I don't even know if they're alright. Quin and Sonnet could be...and Mikael, he could have been caught and..." she couldn't go on.
"I'm sure they're fine," April said kindly.
"Yeah. I can't worry about them right now. Let's focus on something else. What's your power, April?" Ashlyn asked. "We're going to have to fight through the pain and use our gifts to get out of here. We need a plan."
April~~
Both of the girls sat o the ground, April's fragile like complexion was covered in bruises. This girl next to her was hurt badly also.
"Plant Manipulation," April answered choking, she had never been this scared in her life. The girl looked guffawed, there wasn't many plant manipulators out there, it was rare in a way.
"Yours?" April said, wiping her tears with her dirty white shirt and begging to smirk at the thought of a plan.
"Mind control, you could call it," She smiled.
"Cool beans yo, we could totally just kick some butt by going straght through the door there," April pointed with a whiper, her tears were now shrouded with a mischievous grin
"How..?" Ashlyn asked confused.
"With your power plus a more than average tree," April smirked pulling out some pf the acorns from the fair grounds.
Ashlyn
Well, plant manipulation would surely get help them right now.
"These...pains...they hurt my head more than they will yours," Ashlyn finally admitted.
"What do you mean?" April asked. Ashlyn took a deep breath.
"My power is mind control and whatever these people have that are tourturing us...well, it has to do with a mental thing. Your power is physical so it draws into me more and gives me a sort of headache," Ashlyn replied.
"A headache?" April asked.
Ashlyn shook her head. "One where you feel like you're head will split open. A pain I've never felt before in my life."
"Do you think we can work through the pain and escape?" April asked, nervously.
"That's the thing," Ashlyn sighed. "You're power is what we need right now. Your, uh, tree will help us more than my mind control. Besides, I could probably only control one person being that the moment we start my headache's will return."
"So what do you suggest we do?" She questioned.
"As I said before, it will be more drawn to me, so I'll make sure that whatever machine...or even human is giving us this pain, will focus on me. This way you can get us out. Then we'll have to run for dear life," Ashlyn laughed. "I should be able to control at least one person's mind, we're just going to have to be strong and get through it."
"I can see a ton of flaws," April said sadly. "But for now, it's going to have to work."
"you got any other ideas?" Ashlyn asked, hopefully.
Alright ;)
Evan
Things had cooled off and Evan had shifted back to water, and desperately hoped he wouldn't be stuck in fire yet again. It really was his least favorite.
The girl, Sonnet, looked terrible. Evan felt a strong connection to this girl, but didn't know why. He just knew he needed to stay with her, and keep her safe.
"It's alright...you're going to be alright," he soothed as he held her hand.
Suddenly, the guy Evan ran into twice that day, the engagement ring guy, appeared in the doorway.
"Get away from her!" he snarled.
Evan jumped up from where he sat beside the bed. "Oh, it's you bird boy."
"You leave her alone!" he yelled.
Evan put his hands up in front of him. "Listen, I don't want-"
Before Evan could continue, the guy was running towards him. This guy is going to push me back into fire. That is not something I would appreciate. Evan moved out of the way, causing the guy to ram into the wall. No doctors or nurses came running to see what was happening, there was too much going on.
"You're crazy!" Evan yelled at the guy. "You're going to do something stupid, and end up hurting her!"
"I would never hurt her!"
The reflective surface of a metal tray caught Evan's eye. Surprisingly, he took on the earth element. I can deal with that.
Just as the guy lunged for Evan again, Evan grabbed his arms and pinned him to the wall. "Listen, whoever you are, you need to get the hell out of here before you do something to hurt Sonnet. If you didn't realize, she's in critical condition. And if you don't leave now, I'll make you leave."
*errr....okay. I meant more a verbal thing. Quin isn't the kind of guy that would run at someone, he's passive. He's suppose to be really gentle, just something to consider for the future.
Quin
"Just please let go of me" Quin said quietly.
He felt the grip of arms tightened "No, your putting her in danger!" he insisted.
Quin shook his head "She's my girlfriend, back off"
"No" he said fiercely.
Sighing, he glanced around the hospital room. It was empty, the blinds drawn. He shifted and spun easily out of Evan's arms. With a gentle flap of his wings he soared around to Sonnet's bedside.
Shifting back he took her hand gently in his, it still felt warm from the touch of Evan's.
Evan raced back to Sonnet's bedside "I said get away from her!"
Quin ignored him, still squeezing her hand "Stilts! come on hon, wake up!"
"Look you have no right!" Evan said again, louder.
He let out a startled laugh "Right? What does right have anything to do with it. Anyway I live with her, I'm the closest thing she's got to family."
"Sure." he muttered, though it seemed both their rage was subsiding.
"Look just sit down and stop flashing your abilities about. It's the last thing we need right now"
"Me flashing my abilities about? What about you bird boy!"
He winced as the voice came flooding back "Fess up bird boy"... he hated to remember what had happened.
"Oh not with the bird boy again! I'm Quin! Quin!!!"
"Yeah well I have a name to you know, It's Evan, get used to it. I'm gonna be here for a while."
Quin groaned, but as it looked, he might have to.
*hope this was okay Lauren
Mikael
I sat alone in the hospital. Quin had disappeared the moment he found out where Sonnet was. All around me people from the fair were screaming and bleeding. The world around me was in chaos but my thoughts were clear. I had to find Ashlyn. No matter what i had to find her. I stood up and headed for the door. Suddenly an orderly barred my path.
"Sir please sit down you need to be checked over."
"I'm fine." I growled. I didn't have time for this.
"I must ask you to sit down!"
I leaned forward an whispered in her ear. "I'm not like you. I'm one of the special ones." I grinned at the look of shock and fear on her face. I strode past her and straight out into the carpark. I still had the car keys so i jumped into the car and headed for the apartment.
If i was going after Ashlyn, i was going prepared.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I threw the car keys down and chucked the 'normal' clothes Ashlyn had made me wear to the fair into a forgotten corner. I reached into the back of the cupboard and pulled out a small black box. As i pulled on my battered old trenchcoat and clunked my boots clasps into place i felt something inside me click. I looked down and smiled at what i saw. A box of obsidian dice. I remembered when Ashlyn had jokingly bought them for me.
"You need a trade mark. Might as well match the fuzzy dice on your bike." She had laughed.
I blasted out of the garage on my motorbike, gunning it round the corner. I needed a clue. Time to return to the fair.
I have looked into the eye of the storm and stared it down. I am an adrenaline junky and i know no fear.
