Evan

The address was in Old Town. It was a bad part of town, even for Old Town. Evan felt just at home being there. It was too much like his home.

He slowed his car as he came up on the address.

"346...348...352. Wait, what?" Evan said aloud. The address had been 350 Old Walnut. But there was no 350 Old Walnut.

Evan got out of the car and walked up and down the street seven times. No 350 Old Walnut.

"What the hell!" Evan yelled. All he could think about was April, and Sky, and how he didn't know where either of them were or if they were even okay.

Evan sat down on the street corner, defeated. He rested his head in his hands until a newspaper flew up against his side. He took it and was about to toss it aside when he noticed something. A message, written in red ink, on the middle page.

Evan,

Would have thought someone like you was too smart to fall for a fake address. Guess we were mistaken. If you ever want to see your little freaky friends again, be smarter next time.

481 East Faire Street

Evan tossed the paper aside and contemplated the new message. He had no clue what it meant, he had never been one for puzzles.

Ashlyn

The ropes were tied around her torso, hands and ankles. Ashlyn was bent over the ropes on her stomach from passing out and she could feel the cuts they left there.

There was at least one good thing now. The machine obviously thought she was still unconscious so there was no pain. Ashlyn wanted to sigh with relief, but was too scared to make a noise.

Sweat trickled down her neck and her blonde hair looked dark and limp from the sweat. ?Her bottom lip trembled. Was she ever even going to get out of here?

Toughen up, Ashlyn thought harshly. You've got to get out of here. You WILL get out of here, she told herself.

The door opened slightly and Ashlyn's heart thumped.

"Mikael?" She asked, eagerly? "Mikael?"

The door opened a fraction of an inch more. "Mikael!" Ashlyn whispered, in a terrified voice. As much as she wanted to see him, he would be in danger here.

"Not exactly," another voice laughed. Ashlyn slumped in her seat. While she was glad he wasn't here, a selfish part wanted him to come. She wanted him to save her and she wanted to tell him that she...

"So have you had enough time to think?" The man asked, cutting off her thoughts.

"Yes," she said, sadly.

"And..." He asked eagerly.

"Well, I was thinking, I really don't want anymore headaches," Ashlyn admitted, turning her icy blue eyes towards him. Her eyes were the only thing about her that had life left in them.

"I knew you would see reason," the man smiled, happily. "So, tell me the information."

"But!" Ashlyn declared. "I wouldn't give you the information to hurt Mikael if it meant you killing me," she laughed. It lacked her normal enthusiasm and she shuttered to of how much this had changed her. "So my answer remains. You can burn in Hell."

"You little freak!" He spat. Ashlyn was ready for the headache's but the lack of food and water had severly weakened her. She closed her eyes and suffered silently.

"Turn it up!" He ordered. "Fry her brain from the inside out for all I care!" He yelled. "She will give us the information eventually!"

Ashlyn grit her teeth and moaned a little until she finally screamed. "Please!" She yelled.

"REady to talk?" The man asked. Ashlyn shook her head.

"I'll give you any information. Any at all. Ask me anything about me, and I'll tell you," Ashlyn pleaded.

"Not good enough!" The man laughed. "There are no bargains. You are my prisoner, freak!"

Ashlyn screamed again but fought as hard as she could. She fought to control the man's mind and succeeded into entering it. The machine only turned the pain up a notch.

Ashlyn shook her mind from his and finally started to tremble.

The man grinned. "I'm enjoying this. The machine works best on you, you see. It was built to torture the freaks who try to take away our free will!"

Ashlyn broke down. It felt like the pain was actually frying her brain now. She screamed again. These men had finally broken her.

Mikael

I parked my bike around the corner and wandered around the row of houses. To the casual observer i was just a kid going for a walk in a bad neighbourhood. To the more learned eye i was carefully checking the place out.
It was while i was walking my route that Evan came speeding round the corner in his car, saw me, slammed on the brakes and dived out to meet me.
"Mikael. I guess you got the message too." He smiled obviously glad he wasn't alone. "Have you found the house?"
"Message? What are you talking about? And which house?" I looked at him perplexed.
"You mean you didn't ... Then how did you get...Forget it your hear now."
"Your right i am. Now tell me which house and we can get on with this."
"This what?"
"This rescue! Come on Evan keep up."
"481."
"Right come on." I grinned slipping on my ring. When i was at Tarragon i had been saving up energy to smash Jaden into the ground. Now however i had other plans. I marched straight up to the front door, placed my palm against it, winked at Evan and KABOOM. There was nothing left of the door. Or the frame. Or much of the front wall. It wasn't quiet or tactful but we were in.
I had time for one final grin at Evan and the battle was on.
I have looked into the eye of the storm and stared it down. I am an adrenaline junky and i know no fear.

Ashlyn

There was a loud crash and cries of alarm. Ashlyn was too out of it to even listen in on what was going on. Her head rolled to the side and she moaned a little. She needed food and water!

There was another crash and a familar yell sounded near her. Ashlyn blinked rapidly. She knew who that was. She shook her head ans slumped against the seat, refusing to hope. Hope only made her crash in the end.

The door to her cell blasted open. Ashlyn peeked over to see Mikael's dark figure. Her bottom lip trembled. He couldn't be here, she thought, alarmed, yet she couldn't be any happier about seeing him.

"Ashlyn," he croaked, looking at her. She knew how bad she must look, yet she didn't have the eneregy to feel embaressed about it.

"Mikael," she whispered, her throat raw from screaming. "Leave. Please leave. Now."

April~

They had left April alone in the cell, her body was completely alone. The last hope of her escape had vanished when the oafs had taken her nuts. The dreary cell walls were grayer than before.

Explosins? She didn't care

Lizzifer - Both Ashlyn and April escaped, but Ashlyn gave herself up so April could get out and warn Mikael, Sonnet, Quin and the rest. ^_^ Sorry if it confused you. (:

oops !
i skim too much ......

april~

The acorn burst in april's hand then spread throughout the small hallway.

"Not so tough now?" Her pet knocked over the guards, she thought Ashlyn was behind her but no. Another explosion? Her bare feet hit floor with small and quick pats as she approched the end, no stairs? Her mind was focused on only escaping.

"Take me up please!" She tapped her large friend and it took her up, her laugh filling the air. It burst through the floors, and eventually the roof. Her laughter became louder and she leaned against the large branch of her creation, the do girl looked below to see what had become of the house. A familar face could be seen below.

"Hey there Evan!" April's goofy smile got wider, then she jumped from the top of her tree home. Evan didn't say anything, he was fabergasted.

"I missed you!" April hugged Evan tight around the neck.

"You are scared out of your mind aren't you?" Evan finally said.

"Yeah," April's smile faded, "I can't stand either if you haven't noticed."

Sorry this is so late but I wanted to give the april and ashlyn thing time to fan out.

Quin

"What?" he stammered

"I said I'll marry you," she looked her eyes with his intently.

Somewhere inside him the words made an impression and in a flash he saw Sonnet in a long white dress, her hair tied into a bun, she was grinning at him. But then the image faded, she didn't want to. He knew Sonnet all to well.

"No Sonnet it's fine, I rushed everything. I should have waited" he sighed and looked down at his shoes.

"Quin you don't get it, Yes, I want to marry you." she repeated.

"You don't want to marry me, you just don't want to upset me."

She paused then looked up at him again.

Sonnet

Just as Sonnet opened her mouth to speak, a sudden bang sounded at the bottom of the ward and Sonnet turned her head to look behind her. There, was two police officers, striding towards them with there elbows stiffly bent as they grasped their hand guns. Sonnet immediately rose out of her chair, all her muscles seizing up as the police officers stopped and spoke gruffly to her, "Sonnet Heartfield, you're under arrest on the suspicion of terrorism."

"What?" Quin stammered as Sonnet held her arms aloft, palms turned towards the officers in a defensive gesture.

"I didn't do anything," she she managed to say, as the other patients gasped and shrank back from them.

"Come along quietly or we will have to remove you by force," the larger one said, taking a step forward and producing a pair of shiny handcuffs. Sonnet's green eyes shot a frightened look aT Quin, who was equally gobsmacked. It must have been about the explosion...

After a few moments, Sonnet held out her wrists and Quin jumped out of his seat.

"You can't, she's innocent, I've got proof-"

"Listen buddy," one said, taking a step forward and squaring up to Quin. "If you've got something you have to say, save it for the police station. You'll have to make your own way there." Sonnet shuddered as the officer forced her wrists behind her back and snapped the cold cuffs on. He began pushing her away and she looked fearfully over her shoulder at Quin.

"It'll be okay," she mouthed, more for herself than anyone else before they led her out of the hospital and into a marked car, pushing her into it and slamming the door behind them.

Sonnet wasn't sure for how long they drove for, but soon she began to feel suspicious. Why was it police officers dealing with something such as terrorism, and not a higher authority? She swallowed painfully as she looked out of the tinted windows only for the sights around her to look even more unfamiliar. It was then that the men in the front of the car began to talk through the supposedly noise proof glass shield that seperated them. She used her keen sense of hearing to tune in on their conversation.

"The boys back at base said there's been a problem. Said some of the freaks caused a breakout," one muttered gruffly. "One of the buddies of that one in the back," he added, jerking his head back in Sonnet's direction.

Sonnet jumped and felt her stomach turn to ice. Her breath stilled in her throat.

"Take her to the warehouse then, she'll do fine for questionin' there."

Then the sound of their voices were gone as she was deafened with horror. Ashlyn... they must have got her. And now they had her too...

Mikael

As soon as the wall blew out sirens set of all over. Lights flashed, guns blazed and angry and startled paramilitary opened fire ... On an empty space. The wall had blown me and Evan and I had made a break straight for the stairs, running through the smoke and confusion. When i looked back Evan was lost in the rubble.
He can take care of himself, i thought grimly marching on, blasting men left, right and centre. Three men barred a corridor. I watched with satisfaction at the look of suprise on their faces when i charged my boots and walked up the wall before blasting them with a fistful of charged dice.
My spirits soared when i added a new entrance to a room and saw Ashlyn. When i spotted her fatigue and the machine in the room i felt rage surge within.
"Mikael. Leave. Please leave. Now." She spoke hoarsely.
"Not a chance" i grinned mischeivously.
"Please. Go. It's not safe."
"No!" I spoke more firmly. "I'm not leaving you again." I untied her from her chair and just as i finished i heard the tell tale click of the safety on a pistol.
"Don't move a muscle."
I have looked into the eye of the storm and stared it down. I am an adrenaline junky and i know no fear.

Ashlyn

Ashlyn froze and so did Mikael. "How nice of your little boyfriend to join us," the man smiled. Ashlyn's legs were a little wobbly, but she could still stand.

"Leave him alone," she said, trying to sound dangerous. "Drop your gun." The man laughed and shook his head.

Ashlyn entered his mind and the man dropped the gun. Ashlyn fell against Mikael as the headache's started up again. She didn't scream though, not yet.

"We've got to get out of here," she told Mikael. "Now."

Mikael

I turned to the man and kicked him squarely in the nuts before carefully lifting Ashlyn from her seat. I managed to leave mostly uninterupted as they seemed to be distracted by a large and particularly angry tree. We emerged in a fashion that would look to most much like a scene from an officer and a gentleman. That is minus the alarms, blodd splatters and the massively fatigues Ashlyn in my arms.
"Never. EVER. Leave me like that again." I said cheekily before leaning and kissing her. Ashlyn was back and i was never letting her go ever again.

Ashlyn

She wrapped her arms around Mikael's neck and kissed him back. "I don't plan on it. Ever," she smiled. "I was actually scared..." she paused.

"Scared?" He asked.

"Well, scared I wouldn't get to see you," she blushed. "And to tell you how I felt."

"How do you feel?" Mikael asked, smiling. Ashlyn laughed and kissed him again.

"That's sounds good to me," Mikael whispered, still smiling. Ashlyn cocked her head and sighed.

"I didn't find Quin though. Is he alright? What about Sonnet? And that boy they met?"

"Slow down," Mikael told her. "We still need to get you out of here. You're not looking too healthy right now, and I want you out of here. Safe."

Ashlyn yawned and nodded. "And then you'll tell me what I missed?"

"I promise," he assured her. "You won't be leaving me anytime soon."

Ashlyn laughed, her voice making it sound hoarse. "Good."

Evan

April hugged Evan, and he could feel himself go red. She had missed him. He hugged her back, glad she was okay. For someone he had only known a short time, he was already attracted to her.

A crash came from a nearby room.

"Get on my back," Evan said.

"What?" April asked.

"I'm getting you out of here." Evan insisted.

"Wait!" April yelled. "Ashlyn!"

Evan sighed and looked around. "Where?"

April pointed him towards where Ashyln was. He narrowly avoided a man jumping at him by throwing up a wall of rock in his face. He ran into the room to find Ashlyn and Mikael kissing.

"Uhm, we don't exactly have time for this," Evan said awkwardly.

The couple blushed and Mikael nodded. "Let's get back to Quin and Sonnet."

The four ran outside and to where Evan and Mikael had parked.

"Take my car," Evan told Mikael.

"What about you? And my bike?"

Evan pushed the keys into Mikaels hand. "I've got it, you should stay with Ashlyn."

Mikael nodded and got in the car with Ashlyn and April. Evan watched them speed away. Evan was about to climb onto the bike when somethig hard hit him over the head. He fell to the ground and heard only one thing before passing out.

"Freak."

"I'll be fine" she mouthed as the officers forced her forward, yanking hard on her cuffed wrists.
Quin followed a step behind them trying to reach for one of sonnet's hands but the police officers looked menacing so he kept his distance. He didn't hesitate when they forced her into the car. The hospital car park was teaming with people but he didn't care, he leapt high up into the air and shifted, soaring into the sky.

His wings spread out beneath him as he soared a few hundred meters above the police car, keeping one eagle eye on it at all times. Below several people where gazing up at him in wonder but he ignored them, rising the hot air thermals upwards and out of view. Suddenly the police car swerved down a small side street, away from the police station. A short cut? Thought Quin pessimistically, he felt the first edges of suspicion.

He swooped lower, tailing the police car. It pulled to a stop outside an old building, boarded up and deserted. Suddenly his attention was drawn away from the car. Evan was sprawled on the tar mac, a broad shouldered man standing over him with a rifle brandished in his hands. He was bleeding.

Without hesitation he dove through the sky, curving his wings and cutting through the air. He aimed for the man's eyes, tearing away at the soft flesh with is talons. He heard a screech as the man fell the floor, dropping his rifle with a clutter. Quin shifted back and picked up the rifle from the floor. He stood protectively over Evan and aimed the gun at the man's head, he loaded the gun with a click. Suddenly a chorus of other clicks where heard around him, he spun around to face the three aimed men.

"Well well well" said an all to familiar voice "Bird boy is back"
