Sonnet

"Yup," she smiled, automatically shoving her hand in the direction of a photographers camera and pushing it away. She shot a look at Mikael and Ashlyn out of the corner of her eye, grinning deviously before looking away. She'd find a way to get those two together.

They began to wander around the fair grounds, dodging the crazed photographers and looking around at the flashing lights around them. Sonnet grabbed Quin's hand and dragged him to the dodgems.

"Dodgems, guys!" she shouted to the other two, excitedly bouncing up to the booth and asking for four tickets.

"So we don't get any say in whether we go on them or not?" Mikael laughed.

"Nope," Sonnet grinned happily, handing out everyone their tokens.

"Girls against boys!" Ashlyn immediately said, grabbing Sonnet's arm towards a dodgem. Sonnet laughed, she was obviously trying to spoil Sonnet's plans for her and Mikael. Oh well, she'd let it go this time.

"I call the blue one!" Quin shouted from behind her as they all piled into the carts.

"I'll drive!" Ashlyn called, diving into a red dodgem as Sonnet sat beside her, pulling on a seat belt and grinning with excitement.

The thrill of blasting through the city at a most definitelly illegal speed cleared my head of all thoughts of the strange feelings Ashlyn had created in me. We arrived at the fair and were quickly greeting greeted by a beaming waving Sonnet and a calm collected Quin. I liked Quin, he had been kind enough to forgive me after i had broken his wing the year before at Tarragon.
I stood quietly with Quin while the girls chatted.
"Never been on a double date" said Quin quietly to Ashlyn. I ignored the comment, maintaining my cool facade. I didn't listen to the rest of the conversation but we were soon swamped by paparazzi. My hand instantly went to the marble in my pocket ready to throw one and run. I felt a hand on my arm and looked up to see Ashlyns worried face. I took my hand back out of my pocket without a word.
Sonnet concentrated intensely and half the paparazzi walked calmly away.
"Oh come on!" Complained Sonnet before dismissing the others. "Ready to go?" She asked grinning.
"Sure" i smiled. Suddenly i realised Sonnet and Quin were staring at me.
"What?" I asked looking down. Suddenly i realised. Ashlyn was still holding my hand.
"Oh sorry" she said releasing my arm, the embarassment evident on her face.
"Comeon," said Quin, unaffected by the embarassment of the moment. "Lets go already."
I have looked into the eye of the storm and stared it down. I am an adrenaline junky and i know no fear.

I stepped out of the bathroom with a pair of fresh pajamas on. Originally my mind had been set on having some fun at the fair tonight but relaxing was also nice. It gave me a little time to think. If only what I had to think about was so god damn frustrating. Maggie's limp body flashed through my thoughts for a brief moment, I shuddered, and tried to convince myself that she hadn't hit the wall that hard.

"Good, your finally done in there!" April teased and sprinted toward the bathroom. A second later I heard the toilet flush and she was standing back at my side.

"Geez that was quick,"I smiled and sat down at the end of the bed April and I were going to share.

"I hope you both know that I intend to go and get my car tomorrow,"Evan spoke from his bed, still a cocky grin plastered on his face,"Although I hate to leave two young women alone."

"How could we ever cope without you,"I joked. He shot me a glare and dove for the remote to the TV. The evening news was airing.

"Today it was reported that a young mutant allegedly attacked paparazzi and her step sister." My name and photo appeared on the television,"Several paparazzi were injured and the mutant's sister has announced she will be pressing charges." Maggie's face was shown.

The newscaster continued with more details of the attack making me out to sound like some sort of animal. Then a video that one of the paparazzi had managed to take during the assault played over and over again. It showed me stepping out of the house, lifting my hands, and then the camera went haywire as a visible tornado of wind appeared around me. People were being whipped left and right, hitting trees etc. At the end my picture was shown again, this time with a wanted sign above my head.

Evan clicked the TV off. For a long time no one spoke. "Wind?"He finally asked with what clearly sounded like shock. I guess I didn't look like the wind type of girl, whatever that meant.

Quin

He grimaced as the blue bumper car bashed Sonnet and Ashlyn's red.

"Are you alright?" Quin called anxiously.

Sonnet shot my a look "For go sake Quin I'm fine, this is the dodgems. It's what you do!"

He sat back in his seat as Mikael swerved to hit another car. The small box jarred uncomfortably in his pocket and he grasped it with one fist. When had fares got so violent?
Where was all the cotton candy and Ferris wheels? It was supposed to the perfect place.

The cars slowed to a stop and Sonnet stepped out, her cheeks flushed a deep pink "Wow, can we go again?."

"Maybe this time...you two could go together and..." Mikael paused, looking across at Ashlyn "I could go with you."

They locked eyes with each other, the silently headed together to the ticker booth, I could see Mikael place his hand on Ashlyn's.

"Wow, they really are made for eachother" sighed Sonnet.

He nodded meekly, still holding the box with one finger. Just do it, he thought, do it now.

"Sonnet?" he breathed "um...I have.."

"Come on Quin" she called "I want to get the best dodgem!"

"No it's fine, you go a head... I just need some air." he muttered

He headed back towards the snack stalls, flipping the box out of his pocket and open in front of his hand. It was tiny ring, with one incredibly small diamond that would seem stingy but it really was all he could afford.

A sharp bleeping came out of nowhere and he closed the ring box with e snap. Reaching into his pocket he pulled out a mobile and flipped the cover open.

"Mr Ateya, don't move. If you move, everyone on those dodgems is going to die"

Evan Lane

"You mean to tell me you have control over air?" Evan demanded.

Schuyler gave Evan a weird look. "Yes." she said.

"Can you use other elements?" Evan asked. Suddenly, April gasped and Evan became aware of the change he was going through. He glanced in the mirror to see his hair returning to black and his eyes blue.

"No," Schuyler said warrily, "just wind."

"Evan, what are you?" April said, shock still in her voice.

Evan looked to the mirror again, he had changed yet again. His hair was brown and his eyes were green. What the hell? This must be what shock does to me.

Evan sighed and sat back on the bed. "I have control over elements." he said. "Well, three of them. Water, fire, and earth. When I am in tune with one element, my appearance and personality reflects it."

Evan looked in the mirror, dissapointed. He never really liked the earth element. It made him so serious. Luckily, he had changed back to water.

"There we go." he mumbled to himself. April and Schuyler were still giving him odd looks. Evan just fell back onto the bed and stared at the cieling.

I watched utterly amazed as Evan's entire appearance transformed. So he could only use three elements, huh?"Um...Evan,"I cleared my throat,"What about wind?"

He sighed and slowly sat up, obviusly he'd been hoping to avoid the question."I-I can't use it." Pride was choked in his voice and I figured it best not to push the subject farther.

More awkward silence. Great."Well anyway it looks like we won't be able to go anywhere tomorrow!" April gave a little whimper and collapsed on the bed I was sitting on.

"We?!" Evan mumbled into his pillow. "I'm pretty sure you mean 'you' won't be going anywhere tomorrow!"

Woo! Sounds kewl.

Sonnet

She walked half heartedly back to the ticket booth, casting a curious look over her shoulder that quickly dissolved into worry. She caught short glimpses of Quin through the brimming crowd, slowing to a stop as his the colour in his face drained as he spoke on the phone.

"You coming, Sonnet?" Ashlyn called behind her, as Sonnet took a step towards Quin.

"I uh-" She babbled distractedly, wondering what could cause Quin to look so fearful. She tilted her head slightly. Shifting into a Serval wasn't her only gift, she also had acute senses just like her animal form.

Listening carefully, she focused on Quin's voice and tried to block out the excited babble of the crowds, but just as she managed to pick up Quin's voice, Ashlyn grabbed her by the arm and was dragging her towards the dodgems again for another round.

April~~

April's body flipped over and her green eyes met Evan's.

"Me?" Her voice was sarcastic, "It's not like you are a new project, something they don't know very well. It's not like your the guy who jumped into the trees with me, it's not like I made you, they are interested in who my new accomplice is"

April smiled at Evan's reaction to her cold demenour, she always did. They always reacted as if her only emotion was pure bliss and her cold personality was April's evil twin. The doll girl's smile doubled when she was met by silence.

A knock came at the door, making everyone snap their heads in the direction of the noise. Sky got up and looked through the eye hole then slowly opened the door. A small man burst through it at hyper speed. His voice was fast and had a hint of italian dashed in.

"Someone's taken over the fair!! They believe it's us, but it's not! You need to get there before the norms are all dead!"

**sorry i know it's lame but yeah...**

Evan Lane

"Let's go!" April said, jumping up from the bed.

Evan covered his head with the pillow. "I honestly don't give a shit," he said.

April pulled pillow away and wacked him with it. "How can you not care!" she yelled. "Do you want to be given a bad name?"

Evan sighed and sat up, observing himself in the mirror. He felt the fire burning inside him, wanting to go and have an adventure. The roots of his hair burned a bright red. I don't need anymore of this...

"You must come," the italian man insisted. "There are other's there who will be taken down if we can't prove it's not us who started this!"

"Come on!" April grabbed Evan's arm and pulled him along. Evan didn't put up much of a fight and went along.

Soon enough the four of them, counting the exasperated italian man, were driving top-speed toward the fair.

Ashlyn

"Wait, Ashlyn," Sonnet said. She rolled her eyes and pulled her along.

"C'mon, don't be a wimp!" She yelled over the crowd. "You'll be alright without Quin. Besides, if you ask me, I think that you are the better driver."

"Right," Sonnet replied, her sarcasm failing.

"Sonnet," Ashlyn groaned. "What is it?"

"Quin...he's," she shook her head. "Sometimes wrong."

Ashlyn smiled. "We're at the fair. Nothings going to happen," she laughed, pulling her back to the dogems again.

"We're at the fair. Nothings going to happen," laughed Ashlyn.
I was about to agree when i felt a strange probing sensation in the back of my head. Oh no you don't, i thought smirking, some of the strongest psychics in the world can't penetrate my mental static. Wait a minute, who is trying to read my mind anyway?
"Wait Ashlyn maybe shes right." I said glancing around furtively.
"What do you mean?" she asked looking at me.
"Someone just try to read to my mind and it is not someone who's tried before." I said quietly placing my hand in my pocket and charging the dice i always kept for emergancies.
"If anything happens ..." i said looking into Ashlyns eyes.
"Nothing will happen. Were at the fair. Its safe here."

Sonnet

Ashlyn rolled her eyes. "Oh come on, you big baby," she teased, skipping up to the ticket booth again, dragging Sonnet by the wrist.

She dug her heels into the stones, gravel gathering around her shoes as she cast a wistful look at Quin. His eyes were darting all around him as he spoke into the phone, lips barely moving.

Finally she was yanked away again, bustled into a neon yellow kart by Ashlyn. A gruff looking man came to take her token from her, before the dodgems jerked to life at the sound of an alarm. She sailed around aimlessly, finding no enjoyment in it at all as Ashlyn pounded the side of her dodgem into her own one. Even Mikael didn't join in on the joyous mood, but looked around the fair in search for some form of danger.

Sonnet just couldn't shake the feeling that swooped over her. Just by looking at Quin she knew something malevolent was in the air. Her stomach twisted painfully at the thought of it.
