War of the Tsurekin

Ty nodded not wanting to laugh incase she got mad at him. "Yea, first time I rode one of these I punched a clowns face in." He smiled. "Just sit back and relax. You'll get scared, but it's nothing that'll hurt you. No need for self defense in here." He smiled. They kept moving and a zombie like thing jumped out at them. He felt Shigure start to go for it and he put hsi hand on her shoulder.

"Don't kill the zombie." He smiled softly.

Skylar shrugged and smiled. "You'll probably need to go easy or you'll break it." She smiled as they walked over to the bell game.

"I know." He smiled. He paid for the game and then picked up the hammer. He swung it above his head and then brought it down. It looked like he had barely tapped the part that he was supposed to hit, but the metal part flew up and hit the bell. Skylar narrowed her eyes and smiled a little when she saw the dent in the bell.

"Pick a prize." The girl running the booth said as if she was bored of it all.

"The wolf." Kai said smiling at Skylar. She smiled back as the girl pulled it down and handed it to him. They walked a little away before Skylar said anything.

"You dented their bell." She smiled.

"I know, I tried not to." He laughed.

"So, what'd you think of the haunted house? Ty asked.

"It was...interesting."

"It's okay if you didn't like it. There are plenty of other things to do here."

Shigure noticed a food stand a few feet away. She pointed at the bags hanging up of what looked like blue and pink cotton. "What's that?"

Ty smiled. "Cotton candy. Come on, I'll buy you some."

"So, what should we do now?" Kai asked.

"I could really go for some cotton candy," Skylar said.

"Me too." The started walking through the carnival looking for someplace to buy cotton candy. On their way Kai accidentally bumped into a large, jock-looking guy. "Sorry," Kai said.

The guy reached over and grabbed Kai by the shoulder. "Watch where you're going, dick head!"

Ty bought a bag and opened it as they walked.

"Try this." He smiled pulling a little out. She grabbed a small amount and put it in her mouth.

"It's sugar!" She said looking at him.

"Isn't it good? In a sinful way?" he smiled.

Skylar frowned and crossed her arms.

"I said sorry." Kai replied.

"Ya, well you should watch where you are going." The guy growled.

"Listen, jerk, your the one that wasn't paying attention to where you were going." Skylar hissed. "So shove it."

"I guess," she said as she took another piece.

They went to sit down at a nearby picnic table while they ate. "This reminds me of when I used to come to these places with Ceder. Our parents were always too busy to do anything with us so he would always take me places to have fun."

"Must be nice," Shigure said, remembering her own brother.

"How about you? Do you have any siblings back in Japan?"

Shigure frowned a little. She never liked telling people about her own life, but for some reason she felt like opening up to Ty. "Just my older brother," she said.

"What's he like?" Ty asked.

"He's always looking out for me, trying to protect me. He's a very nice person. I started learning the way of the ninja so I could be around him more often."

"Sounds like a nice guy," he said.

Shigure nodded. "He is."

"How come he's not here with you?"

Shigure flinched a little. "That's not important," she said. There was no way she was going to blow her cover by telling him that much.

The guy glared at Skylar and said, "Shut up! This doesn't concern you, bitch."

Kai grabbed the man's arm off his shoulder and twisted it in a very uncomfortable angle. The guy cried out a little from the pain in his arm. Kai's eyes were suddenly filled with anger, like a controlled rage that was waiting to be set loose on whoever was unfortunate enough to be in its path.

"Call her that again, I dare you." His voice held just as much heat as his eyes. Skylar had never seen Kai that angry before.

"Sure it is, it's your brother. Family should always stick together." He said looking at her.

Skylar bit her lip as she watched the guys face.

"Sorry, let me go, please." The guy cried. Skylar could see the pain written all over the guy's face.

(Let's make it so Kai and Skylar run into Shigure and Ty at this point in the conversation.)


The guy fell on the ground when Kai let him go. But instead of running off, he swung at Kai and punched him in the stomach. Kai didn't move an inch when the man's fist hit him. There was a loud crack before the guy cried out in pain. He stepped back clutching his own hand. His hand looked like it had just punched a brick wall rather than someone's stomach.

"What the hell are you made of!?" he shouted.

Kai went up to him and grabbed him by the collar of his shirt. He lifted the guy of the ground and said, "If I see you again tonight, your hand is going to be the least of your worries. Understand?"

"Yes, just please don't hurt me!"

Kai released him, and this time he did the smart thing and ran off. Kai's face was back to normal when he turned back to Skylar. "I hope this hasn't ruined the night."

Skylar shook her head and smiled. "I wanted to do the same, but I don't think I could scare him to bad." She shrugged. "Downside of being a girl, right?" He nodded and they started walking again.

"Look it's Ty." Skylar said pointing towards the picnic area. "Is that Shigure? Come on." She grabbed his arm and pulled him towards the table where the two were at.

"Hey, I didn't know you two were here, two," Skylar said.

"I didn't expect to see you two, either," Ty said. "Kai, when did you ask Skylar out?"

"Yesterday," he said. "I'm actually surprised you were able to get Shigure to come with you."

Skylar looked at the girl a little surprised. "Shigure, are you actually wearing a skirt?"

Shigure's face went a little red. She looked away to hide it. "What about it?"

"It's pretty on you." Skylar smiled. Shigure's face got redder and she got quiet.

"I agree." Ty smiled. Skylar bit her lip, she didn't know Shigure's face could get so red. She could see that something abotu the girl was normal.

That was it, Shigure didn't know if she could take any more of this. She quickly looked around for a way to escape. Her eyes settled on the closest ride she could find, the spinning tea cups ride. She got up and pointed at it. "Ty, I want to go on that ride," she said, trying to sound as authoritative as she could.

"You're the boss," he said, smiling. He said bye to Kai and Skylar before the two of them ran off.

"They sure look cute together, don't they?" Skylar asked.

Kai nodded. "They sure do."

"So, what should we do next?" Skylar asked.

"Why don't we go on the Ferris wheel?"

Skylar nodded a little and then chewed her lip.

"What?" He asked.

"Heights aren't my thing." She admitted.

"I'll take care of you." He smiled. "Come on." She let him follow her to the ferris wheel and hten got on smiling nervously.

The ride started to move. She didn't have a full out fear of heights, but it made her nervous nonetheless. Kai put a hand on her shoulder and said, "Nothing bad is going to happen, relax."

"I know," she said. Somehow, just feeling his hand on her shoulder made her feel better.

The ride came to a stop when they were at the very top. A voice on a loud speaker said, "We're experiencing a minor technical issue with the ride. Please stay in your seats, and we'll have the ride back up and running soon."

"How long do you think it's going to take them?" she asked.

"Hopefully soon, we'll just have to wait."

A cool breeze blew against Skylar's skin, making her shiver a little. A jacket was really looking good right about now.

"Aren't you cold?" Kai asked.

"A little," she said. "I'll be fine, though."

Kai took off his jean jacket and said, "Here, put this on." He draped the jacket over Skylar's shoulder.

"But you'll be cold." She said as she looked at him. He laughed and shook his head.

"I control fire remember." He smiled. She nodded and pulled it around her welcoming the warmth. She looked straight forward and leaned her head against his shoulder.

"Long as you aren't looking down it's really pretty up here." She said.

"It sure is," Kai said as he rested his arm over the back of the seat around Skylar.

It felt so nice to be this close to him, to feel the warmth coming off his body. It was actually warmer than the jacket. She couldn't help but notice how much he had changed since the day they met. He used to be a just a scrawny kid who stayed at home studying every single day. Now he was a strong and confident leader who would do everything in his power to protect the ones he cared about.

They stayed there for what seemed like ten minutes, enjoying the moment as long as they could. After a while, Kai said, "Sky?"

"Yeah?"

"Is it all right if I kiss you?"

Skylar looked up at him. He was looking back at her as she chewed the inside of her lip for a second and then nodded. "Sure." She replied her insides fluttering like someone had let a bucket full of butterflies lose in her stomach. He lowered his head and their lips met and she felt like she was floating forgetting she was at least twenty feet in the air with only a rickety chair holding them up.
