War of the Tsurekin

"You should have seen him, though," Ryukin said. "He practically tossed the bear into the ground, twice."

"I'd have liked to see that," Elise said as they all made their way back inside. "So, how'd your training go?"

Kai started to tell them about everything that happened. How he managed to take down the bear, then having to use up all his shirts to patch up the wound from the fight. Then he told them about Richard and Revy.

"Wait," Skylar said. "You mean that guy who saved us from Harry is living up in those mountains?"

Kai nodded. "Tsurikansen knows about it, too. In fact, Brittney, Harry, and Alex showed up while I was there."

Both Skylar and Elise's eyes widened. "Are you serious?" Skylar asked.

"Dead serious. We ended up having to fight Brittney and Harry at the same time."

"Well, I don't see any major injuries on either of you, so I take it you won?" Elise asked.

Ryukin answered, "We beat them so bad that their masters literally had to drag them away afterward."

Skylar smiled and shook her head. "I'm sure they were shocked."

"Oh they were." He smiled back. She felt her heart speed up and she looked away fighting a blush, scolding herself for being so stupid and girly.

"Well that's awesome." She laughed back as she walked to the fridge and pulled out things she would need to make pancakes.

"So," Skylar said as she started making the first batch of pancakes, "how did your training go?"

"I think it was a success," Kai said. "I definitely feel closer to Ryukin. In fact, Richard told me that just by watching us fight he could see how strong our bond was, saying that it might even be possible for us to use Soul Fusion even now."

Both Skylar and Elise looked at him. "Really?" Elise asked.

Kai nodded. "There's no way to know for sure when it'll happen until it does, though."

"So, did he tell you how to use Soul Fusion?" Skylar asked. "I tried asking Ivy and Akira before, but they said they wouldn't tell us until when we're ready."

"That's because they can't explain it," Ryukin said.

"What do you mean?"

Kai answered, "Richard said it's not something you can learn. The first time he and Revy used it he placed his hand on her head and there was some sort of spark between him. After that, he just knew."


(They won't be able to use it now, of course.)

((Course))

"Cool." Skylar said setting the food on the table with three plates. They all sat down and she started to eat fighting to keep from looking over at him. She could like him, she'd get hurt. She knwe it.


**I"VE NOTHING! I'm trying to find a car. **

(Have fun with that. By the way, Skylar will get hurt after the two of them get together. But unless I tell you exactly how, I can assure you you'll never see it coming. But I'm not going to tell you how, so you're going to have to wait and see. Of course, you're free to guess what happens. Also, I know I already said this before, but Kai can get a little shy around girls that he thinks he likes, so Skylar is going to have to be the one who makes the first move.)


The others started coming down from their rooms. Each one of them was surprised to see Kai sitting in the kitchen, except Shigure, since she never seemed to be surprised about anything, and even if she was she didn't show it. They started asking him to tell them stories about his time in the mountains.

Akira, Ivy, and Kurt were the last ones to come down. "Hora, hora, would you kids keep it down?" Just by looking at her they could all tell she had a hangover... again.

Ivy sighed. "I warned you not to drink that much last night, Akira." When she saw Kai in the kitchen with everyone else she smiled. "Kai, you're back. How was your time in the mountains?"

"Eventful, to say the least."

Sean piped in. "Kai was just telling us how he took down a bear with his own hands."

Ivy looked a little surprised. "Is this true?" she asked.

Kai pointed at his arm and said, "I've got the scar to prove it."

Skylar listened to him tell the story again as everyone reacted. She cleared the table and started washing the dishes as everyone talked. She closed her eyes as she heard everyone talking at once and then start to laugh. She finished the dishes and looked at Tala.

"We're going for a run." She said slipping out the front door and taking off at full speed.


**Night**

(Darn it, you figured it out. Good night, I'm going to post something in the morning.)

When Skylar got outside, Tala looked up at her and said, "I thought you'd want to spend more time with him, seeing how you've missed him ever since he left."

"You beat them both on your own?" Sean asked after Kai finished telling them about his fight with Tsurikansen.

He nodded. "I was a little surprised my self, actually. We ended up beating them so bad that they couldn't stand on their own afterward."

Everyone seemed impressed by Kai, maybe even to the point of admiring him. Ceder piped in and said, "If you can do that on your own, then I've got a lot of work to do if I'm going to catch up with you."

"Enough of the stories for now," Ivy said. "Since this is our last day up here, why don't we go out to the beach one last time before we leave?"

Everyone thought it was a good idea. They all finished eating breakfast before going back up to their rooms to change.

"I do." Skylar sighed. "But I gotta clear my head. I'm not thinking straight."

"What do you mean?" Tala asked.

"I can't fall for him. I'll just hurt myself, I can't let anyone that close." She sighed.

"But you already have." Tala said. "He already is close, even if he doesn't realize it. You told him about your parents, you haven't even told Gram everything."

"I didn't tell him everything either."

"but he isn't family." Tala replied.

"I know." She sighed stopping and sitting on the beach. She pulled her shirt off, she had her swim suit under it.

"How about we go back where everyone else is?" Tala asked as she rolled in the sand once.

"Fine." She picked up her top and ran back to the beach where everyone else was at.

Everyone was already outside by the time Skylar and Tala got back. They were all off doing their own things.

Ty and Shigure were sitting under an umbrella talking, and their Tsurekin were sitting beside them. Kaeru and Quincy seemed to be staring at each other, as if they didn't trust each other or something. Ever since they got here, Shigure and Ty had been spending a lot of time together. It was the most the girl had ever interacted with another member of the team. Now, if only their Tsurekin could get along...

Akira and Mirage were standing under a nearby tree, both their heads were dripping with water. She was yelling in Japanese at Sean, who was sitting high up in the tree with Reiky. There was a large smile plastered on his face.

Ivy and Kurt were sitting together in a couple of beach chairs under a different umbrella. Sahara sat at Ivy's feet like a statue. No matter how many times she saw it, seeing him so still creeped her out. But it looked like Ivy and Kurt were enjoying their time together.

Ceder and Elise were in the water playing catch with a frisbee. Their Tsurekin watched them from the water's edge. Kuma and Mira sat in the shallow waters, letting the waves flow past them.

Skylar couldn't help but notice how peaceful everyone seemed while they were together. It was almost like they were nothing but a big family taking a trip to the beach. The thought brought a smile to her face.

She saw Kai sitting alone a few feet away from the water. Ryukin was buried under a mound of sand beside him with his head peeking out the front.

"Who would guess a dragon would love to be buried in the sand." Skylar said walking over and sitting down, Tala stretching out at her feet.

"It's nice and cool down here." Ryukin replied. Tala rolled over in the sand and then looked over at him.

"Really?"

"Really." She burried herself in a few minutes and then nodded.

"It is." Skylar laughed at her antics and then looked at Kai.

"You ready to go back?" She asked.

"I guess," he said. "I'm going to miss this place, though. Just being so close to the beach, it's really peaceful. It's hard to believe this place will be completely destroyed once Draco awakens."

Skylar sighed, she had been hoping to forget about that. She looked over her shoulder at the house and said, "Ivy's beach house is probably going to be knocked over, too."

"I'm sure she has it insured," Kai said. "I'm a little more concerned about the wildlife. I guess living in the mountains for three days has made me take notice of what most people take for granted these days."

(((So if you haven't noticed I can't figure a way for her to start anything. )))

Skylar nodded. "It's peaceful out here. I can't imagene what it will be like when he comes. It'll be horrible. If we could stop it before it happened that would be awesome."

"But we can't." He reminded her. She sighed and nodded. Oh how she wish they could. They could keep everyone from being harmed.

(Yeah, I can't think of anything either. I'll try to post something later tonight, right now I've got work I have to do.)

Skylar didn't want to think about the Tsurekin Lord. She changed the subject. "You know, everyone missed you while you were gone," she said.

"They did, did they?"

She nodded. "Things just weren't the same while you were gone. But when they heard you were leaving to train it encouraged them. Everyone did something to keep up with their training. They all look up to you."

Kai smiled at that. "And you?"

"Me what?" she asked.

"Did you miss me?"
