Gal, you're right. I didn't see the link. If it really was that disgusting, you did the right thing. I thought, from the way it was stated, that it just stated the word "gay" in an offensive manner. Which, would be similar to having "retarded" or anyother racial/cultural/etc group used in an offensive manner. However, if it truly was that bad, I am inclined to agree with you.

Its good. Why can't people except that there are emos. Some people just take too far when they write a song on it and make rude links. It's sad...

I find all cliques equally annoying. This topic happens to be about emo. I could just as easily say "Why won't people accept that skinney b*tches are there?" The barbie wanna-be's aren't any more or less irritating than any other clique. Emo, goth, punk, cheers, jocks, nerds--its all relatively meaningless. Labels have always annoyed me, and people who accept the labels they are given annoy me even more.

Agreed. One of the things I try to live by is avoiding labels. If someone labeled me, I can guarantee that they wouldn't know me very well.

I like emo music,I don't think it's pretentious but I only listen to DCFC, so I'm not sure about the other stuff. I think you should be what you want to be. Being labelled must be annoying though, if your not sure of what you are.

Lyrics? Most teenage lyrics these days are pretty similar. How do you distinguish between them? How many times the word "heart" is used?

well, its quite simple really....

its a combination of style/lyrics (i.e. OMG MY GIRLFREIND DUMPED ME I WANNA DIE!!!!!) Type things, and that they are overall overly EMOtional, thus, emo. Also, if they dress the "emo" style, even if they aren't they're going to get labelled that way.

Artist isn't a label, it's an occupation/hobby thing. Saying someone's a chiropractor isn't labeling them, just stating a fact.
