People tend to argue on that, Sportgurl. The way I see it, which is probably wrong, Goths wear all blacks,are generally Wiccans, and don't talk much. Emos are the people that wear black and other colors, act random, have that "life sucks" attiude about them, and hang out in big groups. There was a ton of emo people back in my middle school and that's always how they were.
As for the debate, emo people don't bother me. Some of the people at my lunch table are emo and they're the craziest out of all of us. On the first day of school, my friends and I all sat together: emos, nerds and preps alike and surprisingly enough, we all actually got along. There are a few emos that bother me but we stay as far as humanly possible from each other.

Usually, the way one can tell that an emo is not an emo is when they actually start to get serious about their whining and make good on their promises to carve your name into their arm or whatever. Most cutters aren't emo.
Emos are basically goths, only they're more hive-minded and whine about life sucking because their iPod can't hold anymore songs. In a way, they're their own little version of preps, the hypocrites.

i don't think there were any emo people at my old school. Or really in the freshman class this year, we're all kind of the perky kids... we have uniforms.
