The Rebellion

Ebba paced the edge of the clearing restlessly. Where was Jarin? Ebba cast a restless glance over at the fire crackling in the center of the clearing, then began pacing again. Jarin had left nearly two hours ago to do some scouting… He should have been back by now…

Ebba huffed and sat down concernedly on a log by the fire. She hugged herself, fighting off the autumn night’s chill. There she waited until finally Jarin came stumbling into the clearing. Ebba stood up quickly.

“Is everything all right?” she asked nervously. Jarin avoided her eyes.

“Princess Ebba,” he said tersely. “The soldiers are here; we will need to move again soon…”

Ebba shut her mouth. She slowly lowered herself back onto the log, and stared at the fire.

“Princess?”

“Yes, Jarin?”

“You know we must.”

“Of course I do,” said Ebba loftily, but she couldn’t get the disappointment out of her voice. She and Jarin had been running for so long, and here, in this isolated wood near a next-to-nonexistent village, Ebba had finally dared to feel safe. But she wouldn’t be safe; not until that cow of a man Kenzel was dead and gone.

Deep inside, however, Ebba knew that unless Jarin and she got help, they would have a long wait ahead of them. At the moment, Kenzel’s forces were too strong; his grip on the kingdom was too tight.

“We can’t, Ebba,” said Jarin softly, coming to sit next to her. Ebba looked up at him sharply.

“Can’t what?”

Jarin sighed irritably, the moment of understanding between them gone. “Don’t fool yourself, Princess. We can’t start knocking on people’s doors asking if they want to join a rebellion alongside their lost princess. May I remind you, Princess, that the whole kingdom thinks you are dead?”

“I don’t need reminding,” snapped Ebba, turning away from Jarin. Ebba felt Jarin staring impatiently back at her.

“I hope not, Princess,” he said stiffly. “Because I can’t spend my days babysitting you. I’ve got enough on my mind without having to make sure you don’t run off looking for rebels.”

Ebba turned back. “What if we were certain that we could trust these people?” she pressed. Jarin set his jaw.

“If I was convinced that I could trust every one of these people, then perhaps I would consider rousing a rebellion. But I don’t trust our kingdom anymore, Ebba. I just don’t.”

~The Story~

The Lie

Two years ago, the kingdom of Tammur suffered a horrible loss. The royal family, King Jareth, Queen Atiana, and their children, Princesses Ebba and Kiana and Prince Estin were murdered. Jareth’s esteemed military commander, Kenzel, in a surge of respect for his fallen king and fury at his death, stepped up to the throne. He produced vast armed forces intended to track down the king’s suspected murderer, one Jarin, head of the King’s Guard. The King’s Guard is the elite, the force assigned to protecting the royal family. Jarin was the King’s own defender. Logically, he was the only one who could get close enough to commit the murder.

The Truth

Kenzel was the King’s murderer. Kenzel ordered his closest followers to deal with the Queen and the children, but it was Kenzel who killed the King. Jarin heard the commotion and immediately headed to defend the King, but he was too late. Ebba, too, just barely escaped Kenzel’s followers. Jarin helped Ebba escape in a last effort to protect the royal family. Kenzel knows that they escaped, and he knows that they know who really murdered the King. Kenzel sent out his army to track them down, and Jarin and Ebba have been on the run for the past two years.

Meanwhile, the kingdom as a whole adores Kenzel. Ebba and Jarin are caught in a catch twenty-two. They cannot announce their continued existence, for either Jarin would be killed by Kenzel’s soldiers or by the citizens of Tammur. That is how great the hatred is for Jarin. Ebba would no doubt be taken to the castle only to succumb to some unfortunate disease and die, or be poisoned by some enemy of the kingdom. But still more urgent is the need to overthrow Kenzel, and Ebba and Jarin cannot do that alone.

And that is where you come in.

Rules/Extra Info
*Please use correct grammar. (Correct capitalization, spell-check, and sentence structure)
* Magic in Tammur is controlled by what magic items you posses and how well you control them. (i.e. Ebba has a pendant that she uses to harness her power. It is the Royal Stone, given to her at birth, and holds the power of the previous rulers of Tammur. Depending on your station, however, would usually depict how powerful you magical item can be.)
*One character, please. We only have ten character slots.
*Post at least three times a week.
*Someone CAN be Jarin. PM me before you post your bio, though… There is a couple things you need to know.
*Other than that, standard rules apply.

Bios

Name: (Keep it tasteful)
Age: (Don’t be ridiculous. Don’t throw a six year old in there, but also don’t throw a ninety year old.)
Station: (This can be a common villager, a soldier loyal to Jarin, or a renegade noble. Be creative, but state a viable reason for not supporting Kenzel. Also remember that you cannot be outspoken about your thoughts, for Kenzel is destroying every opposition he faces.)
Appearance: (Pictures or written descriptions, it doesn’t really matter.)
Personality:
History:
Magical Item: (This is not required. These items usually contain some sort of center jewel. The jewel, if the wielder has magical training, can concentrate the wielder’s powers, or it can have power imbibed within it that the wielder draws from. The most common form would be a pendant, but there are also swords, mirrors, etc. Be creative.)
Other:

** On a side note, I would like someone to betray the group to Kenzel. PM me before posting your bio is you would like that to be your character. There are a few things I will want to discuss.

Here is Ebba’s bio:
Name: Princess Ebba of Tammur
Age: 17
Station: Was second in line for the Tammurian throne, Princess
Appearance: http://peachysticks.deviantart.com/art/Princess-13146941
Personality: Stubborn when she wants to be. Usually tries to see the best in people. She tough, but at every turn her inner depression becomes clear. She has a deranged grief building inside of her from the loss of her family. She walks gracefully, and has impeccable manners.
History: She was the middle child in her family. Estin was four years older than she, and Kiana was three years younger. Her childhood was spent being preened for court, and it shows in her every move. She had friends and was very happy. Ebba’s childhood was classic, until Kenzel ripped it apart.
Magical Item: http://www.wehug.com/img/ametrine-SSPN5401a.JPG This pendant was given to her a birth, and is one of the seven Royal Stones. It is imbibed with all of the power of previous rulers of Tammur. Ebba is somewhat afraid of her stone. The few times she has completely unlocked the stone, the power within it overwhelmed her. She is careful with it, and only uses it lightly. She depends on her own power for the majority of the every-day magic.
Other: Up for love.

Name: Acenon

Age: 19

Station: Second son of a minor noble

Appearance: http://jasonengle.deviantart.com/art/Crows-44532323

Personality: Strong-willed and very passionate. He has a strict honour code that has been developed and handed down through his father's side of the family. He craves the spotlight, but won't go too far out of his way to grab it. He's a quick thinker.

History: Being the second-born of his House, Acenon was told from a young age that his brother would be the one getting the inheritance. Hence, he was trained from the day he started walking so that he'd be able to win himself lands through battle. He's an excellent swordsman as well as a quick thinker because of that. It was his family's honour code that led instilled in him a desire to join the rebellion, as well as his admiration for Jarin. Having met the guard captain several times, he couldn't help idolising him - Jarin was everything Acenon needed to be. When reports began circulating that Jarin had murdered the royal family, Acenon refused to believe them, and left home soon afterwards in search of him to pledge his support. He carries the one thing that had been bequeathed to him, which he stole when he ran away - his family's magic gauntlet, traditionally passing to the second son, but in his father's care after his uncle's death in battle.

Magical Item: The gauntlet completely offsets the rest of Acenon's armour, which is relatively light. It is a fully plated one, with bronze trimming on some of the bands and ridges. It reaches from his fingertips to halfway up his forearm. His family crest, which is inset with the enchanted jewel, is emblazoned on the back of its hand. The gauntlet significantly increases his strength and speed while he wears it without any conscious thought. He can also cause it to become superheated, as well as any weapon he holds, and can use it for minor telekinesis. However, active use of the superheating and telekinetic properties of the gauntlet give him minor headaches and cramps, and prolonged use can cause serious bruising and even internal bleeding and broken bones.

Other: Up for love.

Name: Aliya

Age: 17

Station: Daughter of a royal guardsman, now be trained by a magic-weilder of some sort

Appearance: http://dreamskeeper.deviantart.com/art/Mage-80495765 only her clothing covers her better than in the picture

Personality: Aliya is a proper young lady. She has good manners and is loyal to her trainer. Though Aliya usually holds to her manners, she can easily drop them and be tough. She prides herself in her knowledge of magic and her ability to fight using it. Aliya owes her life to her trainer.

History: Aliya's father was an excellent guardsmen and pledged his loyalty to the king forever. When the king was murdered suspiciously, he had to oppose Kenzel when he was going to take over. Kenzel sentenced him to death. Aliya was devestated but had to be quick and leave before Kenzel came after her also. Aliya escaped and was taken in by an old woman who had training in the magical arts. The old woman, Kachina, agreed to train Aliya. Kachina and Aliya travel the countryside while Aliya is trained.

Magical Item: A silver band that wraps around her ankle. A round blue stone is centered in it and smaller blue stones surround it.

Personality: Sarcastic, bloody but not heartless, likes good women and wine.
History: Fought in wars, got his title by protecting the eastern frontier of the kingdom in a ten year war.
Magical Item: The lance of dark flames (Well fire and it has some dark flame properties, not too big of a thing... unless it's coming at your head.)
Other: Hardened by war, doesn't really care about the rebel ion, it just suits him better than following Kenzel.

Name: Adam Hark

Age: 27

Station: Ex royal guard loyal to no one. but he'll try.

appearance: long messy black hair tied up in a ponytail. Has long black leather coat that he always wears underneath he wears a white t shirt and he has brown trousers.

Background info: After years training as a royal guard he was let into the guard but compared to the harsh life he suffered on the streets he found it boring so left. A crime punishable by death. He was caught once and cast out into the desert were he was suppose to die. He however did escape and went back to his life of shady deals and yada yada. sadly the exposure to sun left him a little mad and although incredibly cunning and clever he is a bit eccentric. He is good with a sword even if his eccentric outlook would not suggest it. He is much more of a talker he would prefer to bargain, cheat and negotiate his way out of a dangerous situation.

personality: Cunning and clever. He is friendly but a bit eccentric.

magical item: He doesn't have any ability really but he dose have a pendant that he stole from the royal museum which is suppose to protect him from charms, not that it's ever been proven to work.

other: up for love.

Name: Krina Liv

Age: 18

Station: Rogue. She travels most of the time and often hears the recent gossip by eaves dropping in public market places. She steals when she must to stay fit and keeps close to rivers.

Appearance: http://heaven-tonight-lexii.deviantart. ... -114975586 Except she always has a rucksack over her shoulder and a worn dress that looks like this... http://tvmedia.ign.com/tv/image/article ... 749562.jpg an this.... http://media.photobucket.com/image/lege ... Kahlan.jpg

Personality: Quiet and sarcastic. Ultimately she's shy but always has an ace up her sleeve. When she gets stuck, she runs. It's just her way. You know like when the going gets tough she gets gone. That's how she's been since she was a little girl.

History: Krina was sixteen when King Kenzel took to the thrown. She hadn't even known about it till a group of soldiers traveled by her on the same trail and asked if she'd seen the traitor. When she replied what traiter, they were in aw, but news doesn't travel fast when your never near people. (I prefer to add on as I go)

Magical Item: http://laughingscarab.deviantart.com/ar ... r-88876723 Krina came along this ring on one of her nightly scavenges. It was an accident and she wanted to see what it looked like so she put it on her finger. As soon as it was on, rain burst from the skies. Except it only fell around her. The ring has the power to control water, but since she cannot possibly control it (she's not a sorcerer) she simply ties it around her neck with a chain.

Other: Because of the ring Krina is always drawn to water. Up for love...

Name: Eden
Age: 18
Station: n/a
Personality: Quiet and thoughtful. Eden can be ridiculously gullible sometimes. She speaks a little too quickly, and doesn't think before she speaks. Eden has trouble controlling her powers, but she is stronger at bending thunder.
Appearance: http://angelpunk.deviantart.com/art/Gyspy-Girl-31627465
History: Eden's mother is one of those who believes that Kenzel was a hero, but her father didn't believe it. He, David, took Eden into the forest and started a new lifestyle with his friends. She does not take after in any way and doesn't look like her father, either. Eden does not know what to believe about the whole situation with Kenzel.
Magical Item: a bracelet David wove for her: http://passivefreedom.deviantart.com/art/Bracelet-95112624
Other: Up for love

Okay, I'm going to give the go-ahead to start posting - You guys may catch a glimpse of Ebba in the wood, or Ebba may come directly to you. A suggestion, those of you with military backgrounds best catch a glimpse of Ebba. She won't be approaching you.

And Jarin has been called by Incognito Temptation -

The traitors have also been called (there are two of them now)
