He knew it was me. I glanced at him quickly. He was smiling my way. I looked back at the ground. I don't know why I was so upset. It was kind of obvious. I sighed. I wasn't going to nod to let him know I heard him. I don't know what he meant by 'I need your help' but I think it was a trick. I still felt odd. How could I not help him?

The bell rang ending all my thoughts. I jumped up gratefully. Relief washed over me. I was ready to get out of there. I had, had enough.

I bumped into someone down the hall. I looked up and blushed.

"Sorry," I muttered, looking down. I had always been short and able to navagate my way through the hall, but somehow I had managed to ram into someone. I picked up my bracelet that fell and put it back on.

Aaliyah

I wasn't watching where I was going as I made my way between first and second class. I was too busy trying to make sence of what had just happened. One second i'm controlling fire, nothing unusual. At least not for me. The next second I'm useless. I'm as good as human. Then suddenly my powers are easier than ever to control. It made no sence. They'd always been pretty stable, up until now.
Smack! I wacked into someone. Looking up I saw a pretty blond reclasping her bracelet. I picked up the books she'd dropped and handed them to her.
"Thanks!" she said.

It was the girl I had helped earlier. I noticed her hair. It stood out and helped me recognize her. It was a beautiful red color. Like fire. She handed me my books.

"Thanks!" I said, gratefully taking them from her. She was about my height. Well, it appeared I wasn't the only shortie around here.

"I'm Ashlyn," I said. I was always outgoing. Might as well introduce myself. She smiled a little.

"Aaliyah," she replied. Such a pretty name, I thought.

i rushed off to elemental class but it was useless. The bell ahd already rung when i came inside the door. I sighed and held my books close to me. I flood to the hallway where i tried carefully not to bump to anyone. I tried not to looked into their eyes. I was always fearful of strangers.

I hurried my steps not noticing a piece of metal below me. I trip and my books scattered across the floor. Suddenly i was the centre of attention. My face turned red and i picked my book hurriedly.

"Hey, do you need help?" i saw a boy offering a hand to me. He had black hair and he was short medium sized.

"No, i'm okay..." i said as i pick my books and hurried past him.

"Thanks anyway..." i waved him goodbye and walk off.

I walked down the hall to my next class. Well it wasn't really aclass more of a test. Every student had to have it every week to see how their powers were developing. I pulled my black Hoodie off as I sat down next to Sonnet my brothers friend.

"Sonnet" I said smiling. She smiled back but still looked inbarresed. She never really talked to me. Suddenly the door swung open and Docter Gine stepped out, he looked towards me and grabbed the collar of my shirt pulling me in. It was just his way.

"so come on let's start with the easy one" Gine said and we walked into a giant gimmasium with heddles tightbope plain wall and pillars that got higher and higher the smallest being 2 meters high the largest being twenty high.

"want to start with the smallest" Gine suggested but I shook my head and from a standstill jumped to ten. Fine nodded and put something down on a cliboard then I jumped down. I landed on my two legs andonly beneded a bit just like you weren't suppose too, it didn't hurt though.

"good you could only do five meters last week your power is rapidly growing now onto the rest please" Gine said and I nodded before running off to do the heardles, easy, the weird pole jumping thing with out the pole and with out the mat, easy. Then I had to scale the wall. Easy.

"good, good ,good next please" Gine said and I went over to the car last week it had taken all my steer to lift this past my knees now though I picked it up so fast and so easily I alsmost threw it through the ceiling. Gine smiled and nodded he said something about getting a truck for next week but I was to busy dreading the next experiment. I was steared into a white room well is was white except for blood splatters on the side of the walls on the opposite side were three ak47 all aimed at me.

"don't worry kid you always recover" Gine said straping me in into a harness that kept me from moving a niece on the other side gave him the okay sign and he quickly hurried out. A second later the guns emptyed a clip out into me I felt the darkness consumming me only to feel consiouness pulling me back a second later. I was still in my harness and their were a bunch of bullets at my feet.

"only took you five minute to heal from that kid. " Gine said smiling before letting me leave. I walked into Element control and sat down next to Oliver.

"alright" I said, as I was sitting down I couln't help but check my chest as usual their wasn't a scratch.

Sonnet-

The majority of the school flooded into the lunch hall, claiming their seats by chucking school bags and books on to the circular tables and rushing to join the lunch queue. Sonnet ambled in after suffering through her other class. She couldn't bear to be in the same room with the other shifters now. At least she could use the lunch period to give them a little time to forget about it.
Okay, the class probably wouldn't she'd have to listen to their 'cat calls' all day now.
She spied Quin waiting for her at one of the tables. She made her way through the throng of people, finally taking a seat opposite him with a sigh.
"Hey," Quin said in a muffled voice, due to the fact he was halfway through a sandwhich. "So you got the tail sorted then?"
"And the ears," she said.
Quin's eyes looked up. "Nuh uh. The ears are still there."
Her eyes widened as she swiped with her hands over the top of her head. "You liar!" she laughed as she realised Quin was pulling her leg.
He passed over a tray to her, upon which was a sandwhich, a apple, and a carton of juice. "Oh, thanks," she smiled, reaching for a sandwhich.
"Tuna, right?" he grinned at her.
"Very funny with the cat jokes. You're lucky a sea eagle can't really attract many of them."
His head turned as someone approached the table. I did the same and saw it was Aubin, the girl that had healed me.
"Hey Aubin," Quin said with a smile. I smiled a little, as Quin offered her to take a seat.
Sonnet told Quin how Aubin had helped her out with her semi shift problem, as they ate their lunches. It was unusual for them to have a visitor at their table, but Sonnet liked Aubin so she didn't mind.
Her eyes darted to the lunch hall doors as she heard bouncy foot falls behind it's wood. Having cat- like senses was something she still found amazing. Servals had even better hearing due to their large ears than normal cats, and even better eyesight. She saw Kaden burst into the room, sauntering down the hall like he owned the place.
Sonnet didn't like Kaden at all. He strutted around Tarragon causing havoc for everyone, especially in PE, one of the few shared classes. She remembered clearly a day in PE where he thought it would be fun to spray her with water while in her serval form. He chased her around the hall laughing his head off, and of course all the other pupils found it hilarious too.
She glared at him as he passed the table, just as the fire girl, Aaliyah, bumped into him on the way down.
"Watch where you're going!" he jeered at her as she glared at him from the ground. Sonnet's firey temper flared, and without meaning to, she found herself standing up so fast the table nearly tipped over. Kaden looked around, raising an eyebrow. She was so sick of people jeering and making fun of others. It had happened to her so many times she'd lost count.
"Got something you want to say, cat girl?"
She was not usually so quick to start a fight, but this guy was asking for it.
Quin looked up at her, mouthing 'sit down' as she stared daggers at Kaden.
"L-leave her alone," she said, too quietly for it to have a desired effect. He threw back his head in an obnoxious laugh.
"What are you going to do about it, huh?" he jeered. He took a step forward, in an obvious challenge. Aubin stared up at her, as did most of the lunch hall. The geek challenging someone like Kaden was bound to be a quick fight.
There was a loud bark of, "Ohhh, fight!" from back of the room, as Kaden started to advance on her.
"Stop it," she said in a shaky voice as Quin stood up behind them, now angered.
Kaden lifted a finger and pushed her over with ease. She let herself fall, her green eyes now emblazoned with anger.
And before Kaden knew it, he was staring at a huge, spitting, yowling serval on the floor.
Sonnet got onto all fours and sprang over four metres in the air, catching him around the face and knocking him over, screaming like an alley cat.
As they hit the ground he waved an arm, and a powerful roar of wind hit her square in her white furred chest, throwing her across the lunch hall, crashing into a table and knocking it over.
She threw herself out of the mess of bags and books, her fur raising and her tail puffed out to twice it's size. The crowd around her were cheering and yelling things at her and Kaden, but she could hear none of them. Kaden was glaring at her with the most fiercesome expression she had seen.
Now I'm screwed! she cursed herself as the wind began to build again, this time teamed with needle like rain drops. She ran against it, using the underside of tables to shelter herself from the storm.
She skidded out from the underside of a table and clawed up his trouser leg, sticking her claws through the matierial as he yelled out, kicking her off him.
She landed on the shiny floor with a hiss, jumping straight back up again. She charged, but felt a choking sensation as a fist closed around her neck and lifted her dispite her size.
She loathed that! She couldn't move at all when she was grabbed like that.
She met the face of the principal, red faced with anger.

*lol, hope this was okay. Does anyone want to meet up with Sonnet in detention? ;))

"Oh come on, Sir. You know i shouldn't be in this detention it was an accident."
"Mr Eisentein, blowing up a car is NOT an accident."
"I didn't mean to do it." I lied casually. "I was leaning on it and this kid was annoying me then BANG!" I shouted the last word and my fellow detentionees laughed when the teacher jumped.
"Sit down Mr Eisenstein!" The teacher shouted.
I sat back down in my seat as one of the girls from the fight in the cafeteria walked in.
"Hey, your Sonnet right?" She looked at me questioningly. "I sit right behind you in Engish. Im Mikael but my friends call me Mikey." I picked up a pencil and charged it idly before rolling under another kids chair.
"Well Mikael i don't know about you but that seems kind of harsh." She said pointing at the pencil.
"Oh don't worry about it" i smirked as it exploded making the kid jump.
Well this detention didn't seem so bad. At least i had someone to talk to.
I have looked into the eye of the storm and stared it down. I am an adrenaline junky and i know no fear.

Sonnet

Sonnet frowned at Mikey as the professor in charge of detention yelled at him for blowing things up. She returned to her essay, 'Why school rules are in place' and scribbled down the biggest load of nonsense she could make up. She fiddled with her ipod under the desk, flicking through the music until she found something a little heavier. The heavy rock fitted her mood perfectly as Mikey turned to her again.
"So Sonnet, what did you do to land yourself in here?"
"Picked a fight with Kaden."
His eyes got a little wider. "You, picking a fight? That's weird."
"Who ever said I was normal?" she muttured, but instantly felt bad for being to cold to him. "Look, I'm sorry. I'm understandably in a bad mood after lunch."
"I missed the fight. Did you kick his ass?"
She laughed quietly. "No, definately not. But I did the whole 'claw my way up the trouser leg' thing. Like you see in cartoons." She couldn't contain a proud grin.
"Ah, yeah, you're the cheetah girl."
"Serval, not cheetah," she reminded him with a smile. They lasped into silence again, as only the stratching of pen on paper could be heard.
"So why did you fight him?"
"He was being a jerk," she replied with a frown. "My temper got the better of me."
He laughed, looking at her. "You're usually the quiet, reserved one. I don't think I've heard your voice for the whole year until now."
She doodled little shapes on the edge of her paper, satisfied with the essay she had written. "Yeah well, everyone is too scared to face up to him. I just hope it hurt enough for him to stop being an idiot."
"Nah, I doubt he'll change. He does things his way, y'know? Just how he is."
She shrugged her shoulders, browsing through her music as the bell went, announcing detention was over. She sighed, handing her essay to the professor and getting out of her seat, lifting her bag and slinging it over her shoulder.
"Nice meeting you," Mikey said as the parted outside the door.
"Same here, see you around," she called to him, before heading off to Physical Ed., the most dreaded class ever to exist under the roof of Tarragon college. Running around a hall and practice fighting with class mates wasn't the most enjoyable lesson.

Name: Matt

Age:15

Power: The ability to remain unnoticed. This only works when people aren't trying to see him. He is also protected from other peoples powers.

Appearance: Average in every way possible. Medium dark hair in a usual haircut style, chestnut eyes, a cheeky grin (not that he often shows it.) Quite an athletic build (not that people tend to notice.)

History: He had a very hard time in school because of being constantly ignored by the teacher and other students. Friendless until he came to Tarragon. Mother and father still alive but haven't really noticed that he's gone.

Personality: Very little confidence, especially in his ability and very shy. Finding it hard that the other people at tarragon seem to notice his presence, and is especially shy in front of the girls(could create humour).

Could be a good friend for Quin as they are alike while containing enough difference to make things interesting.

Thought I'd have a go.

QUIN
Quin looked down at his watch, it was nearly twelve past and PE had started at two. Sonnet was going to kill him. He knew how much she loathed PE and to be honest he couldn't blame her. Quin was always pitted up against some other Shape Shifter, encouraged to fight and gourge at eachothers eyes. It was already hard enough to reframe from shifting, let alone using the sharp ends of his taloons. So meeting Sonnet had been a welcome relief; fighting with her was more a dance. It was fun. weaving from the path of her cat claws, never lunging.

Sonnet was shooting him daggers when he finally reached the PE hall. He flew lightly down besiDe her, letting fur mat over skin effortlessly. It had lways been easy for him to shift, not like Sonnet. She would get caught in semi-shift which caused endless amusment on his behalf.
"Hey Stilts" he quipped, she glared back at him.
"If you think I'm talking to you then your wrong."
He smiled a well practiced smile "Don't you give me that, I had to fight Lewis because you wern't here. Lewis the ten foot bloody bear!"
He carried on grinning "Oh come on. Stop whinning and shift already."
Her eyes narrowed further but a small smile played across her lips. He shifted quickly, aware of her now sharp claws poised at the ready. It was enchanting watching Sonnet shift, it was almost as she was being hit by an invisble wave. Yet even though her claws where sharper and she was far the large animal Quin was definetley her match. His wings stretched a magnificent severn feet with sharp taloons that could rip through wood and flesh at ease. Though he always felt a sense of emptiness when he shifted, a numb feeling of utter alone. He knew where it came from, that very first time he'd shifted. The memory of soaring the skies alone, as flames licked his ankles in retalitation. As his family burned.

But he wasn't alone anymore, he had Sonnet. Yowling at every opurtunity when he dodged above her, she was his best friend, she was his family, she was his world.

(yeah, thought that maybe Quin might have a little crush on Sonnet :)

*Aw, that's adorable. I changed my mind, I claim Quin! Mwahaha!*

Sonnet

Sonnet jumped, skipped and pawed the air where Quin soared high above. Her green eyes flashed as she stopped, and meowed innocently at him. He knew rightly what she was up to; trying to entice him to the floor so she could pounce on him.
She sprang upwards, her retracted claws brushing against his tail. She never extended her claws when fighting with Quin; she would feel immensely guilty if she slashed him with their razor sharp tips. Not that Quin couldn't handle it; he wasn't much smaller than she was and his huge powerful wings could conjure gusts powerful enough to blow her away.
She gazed up at him as he soared around her in a huge arc, admiring the majestic eagle that was also her best friend. He was always so fluid when he was in his eagle form; something she still found hard to do.
He swooped down, his talons extended and heading for her tail. She ducked it, and yowled her throaty, cat laugh that Quin couldn't resist joining in with.
The second time he swooped, he caught her by the tail and pulled her across the floor. She rolled over and over, laughing, until he let her go and landed in front of her as she lay on the floor.
Across the hall, elementals practiced, sending plumes of fire and whooshes of rain and lightning across the room. It was beautiful; sometimes she wished she could have a power like that.
His great yellow beak prevented her from seeing his lovely, warm smile, but she could still see it in his eyes. She crept low on the floor, her tail swishing madly as she pretended to hunt him.
The shrill call of a whistle interrupted them, telling the class to enjoy a five minute break. She bounded across the room, landing on one of the benches as Quin joined her.
She closed her emerald eyes for a second, as she shifted from a golden serval to her normal human form. She took extra care not to get stuck this time; the last thing she needed was more embarrassment.
"I know you can fight better than that, Stilts," he quipped. "After that episode in the lunch hall, I know that you can really fight. The trouser claw thing was pretty awesome as well."
She laughed and grinned at him. "Oh, I wouldn't want to hurt you."
He feigned shock as he pointed to himself. "Hurt? Me? I've think you've got the wrong guy. We'll see about that, Sonnet!" He shifted effortlessly, as she jumped on him, shifting mid pounce. They landed on the floor and she pinned him by the wings, yowling in laughter again.
"Now now Sonnet, don't eat the little birdie!" came a call from one of the other pupils. She couldn't hear them anyway; this was her time with Quin, and no one could burst the happy bubble that she floated in when she was with him.
The other pupils started to practice again. The dance begun.
She pawed at him with happy meows, while he weaved back and forth around her. Her golden, spotted fur reflected off the harsh lights in the hall, as her eyes flashed.
Suddenly, someone was thrown across the room from the elemental side, skidding across the floor and heading straight for the both of them. They scarpered as the blur came reeling across the room, missing Sonnet by inches.

*Feel free to jump in anyone :D*

I stood up and spat out the clod of dirt i swallowed during my skid. This is ridiculous, i thought angrily, my power is nothing like the elementals yet i get put in there stupid classes. I stood up and rand back towards the kid who had blasted me ignoring the odd bird and cat thing. I dived to the side as a flame roared passed my head. I pikced up a handful of grit, chraged and blew it out of my hand at him. Nothing happened. The kid started to laugh and the BANG! He was launched up into the air before landing with a thump. I grabbed a stick and began charging it.
"Alright thats it" shouted the kid, obviously angry i had shown him up. Wave after wave of wind blasted out at me, but i just cut them appart with my charged twig, making the kid look even dumber. He shouted something unitelligable and then a swirling coil of flame lashed out knocking me to the floor. I stayed down and slid my twig under the coil and between the kids feet just in time for BLAM! and once again the kid was airborne. Except this time i didn't let up. I charged the soles of shoes and shot up at him chrging my gloved hands before punching squarely in the jaw and pummeling him into the floor. I got up off the now unconcious kid and walked back to the now staring Elementals.
"What?" I shouted at one of them. "Surely someone has beat him before."
"N...n...no they haven't." Replied a little kid.
"Well now they have." I walked off to change.

Aaliyah

I'd been with the other elementals when it happened, Kaden had been beaten. The only problem was now he was awake, and he was angry just looking for revenge. And he wasn't stupid enough to try and take it out on the guy who'd just beaten him, oh no. Instead he was going to take it out on the last person who'd made him angry, Sonnet. Since she was safely in PE class he settled for the one she'd been protecting, me.
Elemental class had ended and I was heading for PE. walking alone across the field that was right next door to elemental class. Everyone else had headed outside and the other kids I had PE with hadn't come out yet.

"oh lovely, we have gym class together too.." a cold voice from behind me laughed. I whipped around to see Kaden standing there looking as good as knew."

"great" I turned to walk away from him but a wall of wind held me in place.

"your friend embarassed me at lunch. I don't like to be embarassed." the wind around us grew stronger.

I didn't like to fight!! Crap!
All of a sudden lightning struck the spot beside me.

"I won't miss again." Kaden's voice was deadly calm. I didn't have any doubt that he meant it. That boy had a problem. Aw well, if it was a fight he wanted, it was a fight he was going to get. I felt the tips of my fingers grow warm. The magic was coming to me, feeling my need for it. A battle of fire and ice. How very fitting. Another lighting strike crackled across the sky courtesy of Kaden but I was protected. A box of fire swirled around me deflecting it easily. I smiled.

"Not so easy to fight another elemental is it?" I saw his cheeks grow red and a miniature hurricane began swirling around his head. He thew all its force at me.

Quin leapt back, flapping his wings furiously as Mikael shot past them into the mud. Sonnet hissed as a long trail of mud splattered her coat.
"Oi! Watch where your going!" shouted Quin, shifting back.
But Mikael seemed past reasoning. Quin resumed his position next to Sonnet as they watched the blur of dirt and fire. He had never really liked either Mikeal or Kaden, they both seemed too full of each others arrogance. Mikeal was suposedly some superman and Kaden seemed to think everybody was inequal to him. They seemed to pick more fights that the rest of Tarragon all together. And there was something more than competitivness when they fought, as if they actually had the intention of hurting one and other, not just winning.

He watched Sonnet as her eyes followed Mikeal, who was sending object after object at Kaden. She seemed enchanted by him as he moved aggressivley in and out of Kaden's range, taunting him. Suddenly Quin didn't feel like he could watch any longer, the way Sonnet seemed to stare at him in awe was discorncerting, he didn't like it.
"Um, just going to stretch my wings for a bit." Quin mumbled, not waiting for her response as he leapt into the air. He saw a flash of her green eyes as he headed for the window, irises still fixated forward.

The air was cool on his wings as he climbed higher and higher into the morning light. There was nothing quite like it, flying. Feeling the ultimate power your body can create but a natural power, something that feels right and normal, like breathing. It was like when he was walking on the ground everything was in 2D and when he flew a whole new dimension whirled into light. Everything was open and colourful, your senses hyper aware of the whistling wind and dots of miniscule detail on the ground below. He searched the ground for Sonnet, expecting to see her Sevral form following him out but she was nowhere to be seen. Instead, Kaden came storming out of the hall, the wind tailing his feet like a shadow. The girl at lunch, Aaliyah was standing near by. Quin couldn't make out their conversation from the air so he drifted lower, letting himself drop only a hundred or so feet from them. Kaden was getting angry, that was obvious, but he was going to far. There where strict rules we followed at Tarragon, you never challenge someone outside the PE hall but Kaden seemed to be doing just that. Aaliyah turned to leave but a wall of wind stopped her. She retaliated, sending a circle of fire aroud herself. Quin saw her lips mouth one last line and before he could turn to see Kaden's reaction the wind picked up suddenly. Quin tried to balance his wings but the air tossed him forward then backward, bending him back at a painful angle. He let out a screech of pain matched by Kaden's laugh before hurtling towards the ground, his wing bent and broken.
