Quin

They walked steadily back to the Prom, Quin keeping his hand on Sonnets. He couldn't believe himself what he had just done. Taking his own life, it was irrational and stupid. He shook his head and Sonnet looked up.
"Whats wrong?" she asked, squeezing his hand.
"Oh nothing" he muttered, looking away

They rounded the corner of the building and ran straight into Mikael.
"Watch it!" he shouted, leaping back

Mikael

"Watch it!" I cried as they crashed headlong into me.
"Sorry," they replied sheepishly, blushing wen i noticed them holding hands.
"It was bound to happen eventually." I smiled think of how long it had taken those two to finally realise they were made for each other. Maybe someday i would find some one like that. Then again probably not.
"I'm glad to see someone enjoyed prom." I laughed.
"We were just, um." Mumbled Quin.
"Hey you don't have to explain yourself to me." I replied calmly.
"Why aren't you in there dancing?" Asked Sonnet earnestly. "I thought you were a good dancer."
I cringed inwardly. I had forgotten Sonnet new of my mother unfortunate obsession with me dancing.
"Yeah well, I, erm. I has no one to dance with." I replied quickly.
"And you didn't want to give Jaden any ammo right?" Replied Sonnet giving me a withering stare. "You two are so stupid. What ever it is just get over it!"
"Thats not how it works for guys" Quin explained earnestly.
"Thank you Quin. Anyway you guys mind if i hang out with you? No one else has even given me a second glance."
"Maybe it has something to do with Jadens broken ribs."
"Enough about him. Can we just hang out? Please?"
"Sure" smiled Sonnet looking happily at Quin.

Quin

Quin grinned nervously. He hadn't forgotten the fight, his broken wings, but his politeness had exerted that. He and Sonnet usually weren't up for socializing, even before they became an item they mostly lived in there own little bubble. He didn't really know what to say, so he left the talking up to Sonnet instead, she seemed to be doing fine.

If Mikeal still needs someone Lee's up for grabs.

Lee~

As Ilcisa, Ashlyn, and I walked down the hall I could hear the music for the prom getting louder and louder.

"Wow I'm glad I did pack a dress after all." I muttered as people walked down the halls.

"Yeah I know what you mean." Ashyln replied, as she glanced at her combat boots.

"I think they add character." I smiled.

"Exactley!" Ashyln laughed.

Sorry, been busy lately.

Sonnet

"Sure," she replied, happy that Mikael was no longer on his own. She had seen him by himself at the dance, and felt a little sorry for him. Quin neither objected or welcomed Mikael, just silently grasped her hand, forcing her to do all the talking. She observed him nervously, curiosity screaming in her head to find out what caused him to plummet from the sky like that. She shook her head, turning her attention to Mikael again.

"So... how was prom for you then?"

He shrugged his shoulders. "Alright I guess. Not much going on. You?"
"Um..." she bit her lip, tightening her grip on Quin's warm hand. "It was..."

"'S okay," Mikael seemed to understand, waving an arm dismissively much to her relief.

"Didn't you ask a girl to dance?" Sonnet inquired, changing the subject quickly.

He shrugged offhandedly again. "I thought it was the girl who picked."

She raised her hands palm up in a mock quizzical expression. "Maybe, maybe not. What if she's too shy?"

Mikael gave a meek smile, sighing, "Ah well. Life goes on."

Quin

He smiled wearliy at Mikeal
"You going back in then?" said Sonnet, gesturing back to the stuffy hall
"Might as well." he shrugged, heading back towards the door
Quin looked back at Sonnet for reconignition and she nodded "Come on, what else have we got to do?"
He frowned, Quin didn't see anyway the evening could get any better.

Lights blurred Quins vision as he stumbled in after Mikael and Sonnet. The music was louder now, an out of beat rock tune that hurt his ears.
"I'm gonna see if anyone wants to dance." he shouted over the music, walking over to a group of girls.
It left Quin and Sonnet in the middle of the dance floor.
"So, what the hell was that about?" said Sonnet

Ashlyn

I was really sick of this prom. Mostly because everyone here seemed to grate on my nerves. Except Lee and Ilicsa.

"I'm going to get something to drink," I stated, walking away from the other girls. I walked past the girl who I accidently spilled punch on and she glared at me. I rolled my eyes and was going to continue walking when someone pulled on my sleeve. It was the girl.

"Yeah?" I asked.

"Aren't you going to appologize for spilling punch on my dress?" She asked. I laughed.

"I already did," I responded. "Now if you don't mind, I was actually leaving." She looked at me and tilted her drink a little. I could tell what she was going to do before she even did it. I went into her mind and prevented her from spilling the drink onme.

"Nice try," I said, walking away. I was ready to just go home. These people were really starting to bug me. Someone tapped me on my shoulder and I turned around to see...
<Anyone care to talk to Ashlyn? Persuade her not to leave the prom (;

Mikael

I saw a girl break away from the group and i tapped her on the shoulder.
"Would you care to dance ma cheri?" I asked as nicely as i could, hoping the charming french would win her over.
"Actually i was just leaving." She replied bluntly, looking me up and down.
"Oh come on. Just one dance. I promise you won't regret it."
"Well..." She looked around. "I suppose everyone else is doing it."
"Thank you ...?" I smiled.
"Ashlyn."
"Thank you Ashlyn. I'm ..." She cut me off.
"Mikael. The psycho exploding kid."
I ignored her comment and took her hand before leading her onto the dance floor. A sedate classic tune came on. Time to shine, i thought happily, thinking back to the dance lessons my mother had forced upon me to cure my two left feet.
As the tempo increased, i danced faster. The song and i looked around before realise we had become the centre of attention. Oh dear, i thought worriedly.

Ashlyn

"Geez, I didn't know you were a professional," I said as he danced. I was trying to keep up but I really didn't have to. He was the one leading us.

"Not a professional," he laughed. I cocked an eyebrow.

"You sure?" I asked. He only chuckled. "I gues it's surprising since I'm used to you exploding things. I didn't know you could be...graceful."

Mikael rolled his eyes, choosing to ignore my comment. I looked around. We really were becoming the center of attention. I didn't do well in front of crowds. My eyes widened and I could tell Mikael was holding back his laughter at my expression.

"Calm down, it's okay," he said, but I could tell he didn't really enjoy it either. I sighed. This was what I got for dancing.

Ashlyn gave me an odd loo and i had to resist the urge to laugh.
"Calm down, it's ok." My words sounded hollow as i could completely sympathise with her discomfort. The song began to wind towards its flippant cresendo. I finished with a flourish that put many of the boys in the room to shame. I smiled when i saw the look on her face.
"Merci, Ashlyn." I began to walk away and turned back. "Perhaps another dance a little later?"
I began walking towards a quiet corner and was shocked when i sat down and saw Ashlyn right behind me.
"Your good." She said bluntly.
"Thanks. My mother made me take lessons to cure my two left feet."
"Well they certainly worked." I could see she was thinking something over.
"Just say it." She looked a little peturbed at my comment.
"It's just that your always so violent. You and Jaden constantly at each others throats. This side of you is much nicer." I smiled and moved over so she could sit down and watch the others dance. There were a few lingering stares at us after our exuberant dancing but most just returned to their conversations.

"Violent? Me?" Mikael asked sarcastically. "Never." I rolled my eyes.

"Right," I replied. I looked around uncomfortably. While people may not be staring anymore, I still wanted to get out of this dress. "I guess it IS good to see a graceful side to you."

"Graceful?" He asked. "Nice word choice." I laughed a little.

"You're as graceful as a swan," I said. "Too bad I can't say the same for myself. I have two left feet."

"I noticed," he responded. I pushed him a little.

"Thanks. I was being sarcastic," I replied. "I want an apology."

"So you want me to lie?" He teased. "No apology for you."

"Fine," I smiled and went into his mind. Suddenly he fell to his knees.

"I'm so, so sorry, Ashlyn," came his monotonous reply. He shook his head a little when I finally released his mind.

I grinned as he stood up. "Oops," I said.

"Wow. Not bad at all. Most people can't get past the weird static in my head. Something to do with my power. Its pretty weird." She looked at me and laughed.
"You think thats weird? You can blow things up by touching them and you think a little mental static is weird. You are SUCH a boy."
I couldn't help but smile at her comment.
"You know what? Im sick of everyone calling me bomb kid. Its not just explosions you know. I can like charge other stuff and it does different things. Like the soles of my shoes. If i charge them i can leap higher and further. Or my metal pole." I waited for an immature laugh that never came.
"If i charge that and then hit something with it, D-A-M-N will you know about it." I smiled proudly.
"I suppose no one ever thinks about that when your blowing up in their face."
"Tu che. Now about that second dance ..."
"I think not. I really want to get out of this dress. I feel almost girlie. Its horrible."
I laughed at the look on her face.
"Fair enough. If i don't get out of this suit soon i'll have to wash it. That and i wouldn't want to offend anyone by busting anymore funky moves."
She laughed and i felt an odd sense of warmth. It was nice to have someone to talk to. Maybe having friends wouldn't be so bad. I stood up and walked towards the exit. "I'll see you by the fountain in a bit? I want to show you something cool." I walked away without waiting for a reply. Maybe she would be there, maybe not. What did i have to lose?

This planet has - or rather had - a problem, which was this: most of the people living on it were unhappy for pretty much all of the time. Many solutions were suggested for this problem, but most of these were largely concerned with the movement of small green pieces of paper, which was odd because on the whole it wasn't the small green pieces of paper that were unhappy.
