Every rose has it's thorn.. Just like every night has it's dawn.
I've matured a lot and I realised it was time to come back.. for good!
Now that he was alone with Lucinda again, Vincent looked at the blood on the floor.
"What a waste," he said sarcastically, "that human died in vain. Mind you, I can't deny the pleasure I gained..."
"Shut up."
Vincent snorted, and looked at Lucinda, grinning.
"Lucinda, seriously, your anger only arouses me."
Lucinda looked away, biting her lip. Vincent walked up to her, his breath thick with the stench of blood.
"Well then, Lucinda. Those two friends of yours will go home and bring news of your...tolerance, and they'll never accept you as their leader again."
He wiped away a tear from Lucinda's face.
"My clan is open to you. Yes, you may not be very popular to begin with, but I will protect you. Eventually you will learn to be feared by our minions. And they will respect you. Join us, you have nothing to fear."
I refuse to acknowledge the existence of this signature.
Vincent was lost for words. He felt like he had lost something, only for it to be replaced. He just hoped the replacement was better than the original.
"Well then...I guess you had better get yourself familiar with the castle. It's a big place, and a wrong turn can be perilous..."
Lucinda's eyes widened.
"Perilous?"
"Hmm? Oh, it's nothing really. Just the odd room filled with wolves, or an admirable Human warrior. Sometimes we give them a weapon and throw them in a pit of beasts, or even test the mettle of a group of them against one of our kind. It makes great entertainment, and it can be strangely inspiring when the lowly Human does survive. He becomes a hero, even among us, though they always get killed eventually. Usually once we move them up to one-on-one combat with a vampire."
He paused for a second, long enough for Lucinda to get her word in.
"So you hold gladiatorial fights?"
"You could call them that. We normally just refer to them as pit fights. Same thing, I suppose. That reminds me," he sniffed Lucinda's shoulder, "now that you are officially an Apocalyptica, how do you feel about that Human, the one whose scent you continue to carry?"
I refuse to acknowledge the existence of this signature.
Vincent tried to answer, but he found himself laughing instead. He realised that he hadn't laughed so genuinely in a long time.
"Vincent?" Lucinda asked in a slightly angry tone, "why is that funny?"
"I...well, exactly how old are you?"
"Four hundred and eight..."
"And your brother?" Vincent asked, out of breath from laughter.
"Thirty seven."
Vincent nearly fell onto the floor in hysterics.
"What's so funny?!"
"Well," Vincent said, giggling, "that puts you both nearly four hundred years apart. So...actually...now this is interesting."
He sat on a chair, crossing his legs, his childish expression suddenly made serious.
"One, or both, of your parents must be vampiric," he informed, "otherwise he, she or they wouldn't be able to live so long. Yet your brother is human. I just wonder how human he is."
I refuse to acknowledge the existence of this signature.
Personality: She has a dark sort of personality. Everyone thought she'd become an Apocalyptica but she has never wanted, nor will she ever want to kill considering she is half human. She hopes to become full vampire one day though.
History: Adeline is Lucinda's half sister. They have the same father but different mother's. Her mother kept her until she told Adeline about her father being a vampire when she started changing. Adeline wanted to go live with him and the vampires and has ever since.
Other: Up for love.

I almost giggled at father's outburst about the air smelling of human. He seemed quite worried about Lucinda though.
I was as well. I hadn't seen Lucinda in a while and she never stayed away long. She loved the clan too much. She was so lucky. Getting to run the clan, being father's favorite, and she was full vampire. I had always been a bit envious of her but I also loved her so much.
Now that I thought about it I was worried about her as well.
Father was looking out the window and I walked over to him. I put my hand on his shoulder, trying to comfort him at least a little.
"It will be alright. She'll be back soon." My gaze moved back to Jared, hoping what I had said was right.

Jared caught me before I fell and almost dropped me again at Father's words.
Lucinda had gone to the Apocalyptica?
No way. Lucinda was the good. I was stunned to silence.
"Are you sure?" Jared asked.
"Yes. Of course I'm sure." He yelled.
I thought for a moment. If she was headed to the Apocalyptica clan there were two things that could happen. She dies or she becomes one of them. I didn't say these thoughts out loud but I knew father heard them anyway.
"Jared. Adeline. You two are the leaders until your sister returns." Then he left. I looked back at Jared in silence.
I knew I'd always wanted to be leader of the clan but not this way.

Love is friendship that has caught fire. It is quiet understanding, mutual confidence, sharing and forgiving. It is loyalty through good and bad times. It settles for less than perfection and makes allowances for human weaknesses. — Ann Landers
