Candles on the Water

for some reason i kept following everyone else and started suspecting something was wrong.

How could all of our parents disappear at the same time, maybe it was because they were...

"Hey.... umm... guys?" I asked.

Everyone turned towards me making me more nervous than i was before.

"Well... umm... could it be that...." I stammered.

"Spit it out!" said one of them.

"Give the guy some space" said another angrily, she was a girl roughly my age with blue eyes and curly black hair.

I took a deep breath and continued "Could it be that all of our parents... disappeared wile they were in a cocktail party?" I asked saying the sentence as fast as possible.

Everyone started murmuring again, so my deduction was right.

"So by any chance could it be that our parents were in fact going to the same cocktail party and were... kidnapped or... maybe" I stopped there and took another deep breath "Murdered together?"

Mudered together not something that had popped to mind it didn't matter anyway John new it wasn't true after all his parents couldn't be dead could they no it was just a cocktail party they were just running late, very late I after all that they done together as a family like walking on the ice how it broke how he was saved by a stranger, as the memory flodded to mind it was like was their but it wasn't like a memory he could fell the harch wind blowing. John was standing next to a convienient stand looking over the ice A little boy was walking in the middle of the frozen pond a good 100 meters from land his parents talking and drinking hot chocolate then the ice broke and the littel boy was in the water but his farther was looking and his mother she was watching a eagle fly above her, save him john though, go on save him the parent still hadn't noticed "dam" John said before jumping onto the pond and running to the boy time seemed to freeze as John ran the eagle squaks seamed never ending, John grabbed the little boy and lifted him out of the water the farther was now at the boys side as he puched John out of the way John realised it was his dad "but your gone" John said before he was back in the woods.

One of the girls in the group burst out sobbing with tears running down her face at an alarming rate. The boy's observation must have hit a sensitive spot. I would have consoled her, but I first had to get a grip on myself first. I was close to doing the same. Jeez, guys were so insensitive. When I knew my voice wouldn't betray my emotions, I spoke,

"Let's keep going. We can talk about that later." I knew the police would come find us and I knew we might be running out of woods to hide in.

It was funny to think that I had been in school a few hours before and was now running away with 12 other kids. I had just gotten home from school when I decided to leave. I was now trying to remember what I had packed to survive...

Well, survival wasn't the only thing I was worried about. I would not believe a word that boy said, because I was going to find my parents.

Kari

Kari watched the proceedings cooly. Twelve kids all thrown together was not going to produce any kind of sensible ideas, in her opinion. It seemed to her that it would be a good idea to stay as quiet as possible in order to avoid further confusion. Still, it was quite a thrill, to finally be doing something. She had always been good and done exactly what she was told, in order to not draw attention to herself, but sadly, her inability to read had often brought her to the attention of her peers.

She wondered if anyone had noticed yet that they all carried the same bag. As no one had voiced this thought yet she assumed not, but then again, some of the members of the group had, like her, remained silent so far.

There had been a pause, whilst everyone held their breath and then slowly everyone began to keep on walking. Kari shrugged and followed suit.

JOHN

John's phone rang he anwsered right away "Hello" A voice said "hello" John replied "your with the group yes"
"yes" john replied continuing to walk with the crowd one girl was hanging back trying not to be noticed she looked deep in thought "I need you to go with the group to the old water works the police will pick you up and bring you to me please go with them with no fuss they no how dangerous the group your traveling in can be"
"you do realise that me and everyone here are twelve" "please, just do it John"
"how do you know my name"
"I know all of your names infact I know more about the group your with than they do"
the phone went dead John wasn't sure if he could trust this woman but it was better to get arrested than walk around the forest for ever "hey guys maybe we should go to the old waterworks they won't think to look their.

"I say we keep moving.", I spoke up. The police were probably gaining ground and there was no way I would let them catch up.

"We can't keep running forever.", a girl said. I guess she was right, so we started walking towards the waterworks with a fast pace.

Abigayle


"Hey!" Abi screamed as they ran, the girl in the front-the leader- stopped. " What's at the waterworks? Why there?" She asked, her breath shallow from running. The kids around her stopped, probably wondering the same thing." I know the cops are after us but of all the places in town, I mean really."

"That's a good question." I thought about what the girl had said. One of the boy's questioned John.

"Who were you talking to on the phone before?"

"No one. It was this woman and she hung up." John stammered. The other boys did not look convinced.

"Really? Well then, what did she say?" I kind of felt bad for John because he looked like he was about to get beat up.

John

John took a stepped back the boy looked a little tall to be twelve "I think the real question is why not go to the water works it's an idea I mean dose any one else have any other suggestions, think about it she's distraught" John said pointing at the girl who had started the argument " paranoid even" John continued the tall boy seamed to calm down a little but then the boy to the right spoke "yeah but why do you want to go their"
"why do why not this argument like a circle it could go on forever so why don't we just go to the water works" most of the group looked convince until once again the boy on the right spoke " Johns lying I can tell "
John couldn't be asked to lie anymore " fine I am but..." John explanation was cut short by a punch to the nose that knocked him out " we better bring him with us we're all connected" the tall boy said.

Oh god. I was so thankful that his nose wasn't bleeding, because that would be pretty bad on my part. Even if one drop was spilled, I could still smell it. Ugh. I tried not to think about that.

I looked down at the boy with no emotion. I knew I could trust no one. One of the taller boys lifted him with ease and we continued our search.

We had been trekking through the woods for hours it seemed, always going no where. We hadn't seen or heard the police, but we weren't taking our chances. Maybe the waterworks weren't such a terrible idea to rest, because we couldn't continue walking forever. Considering our legs were getting more tired by the moment, the waterworks were looking better and better as a place to go.

Emily

They had reached a point to where the trees cut off and the sun was shining.

Emily swore. It had stopped raining, her only cover. She needed to get out of the sun. She knew that her medical condition could become serious if she stayed out in the sun for even longer than five minutes.

"Umm, I'll meet you guys there," and with that, she bolted out in the sun, running as fast as she could in the blare.

She began to slow dramaticly, and grow weaker. Dammit, not again. She continued running, although it had changed into a brisk walk, and finally collapsed.

Chase

THey had kept on walking for a while after the girl suddenly ran off. It had begun to turn dark as the sun slowly disappeared from the trees. Finally, they arrived at the waterworks without realizing where they were going.
"Finally," said one boy and dropped the unconscious one to the ground.
"Where is the other girl?" asked the girl who had screamed earlier.
Chase thought for a minute. "Hey guys?" he said after a minute. "I'm going to go find that girl. Everyone else needs to stay here while I go look."
"Wait!" one of the girls yelled as Chase started to walk away. "I'll go with you."
She ran up to Chase and they started walking back into the forest.

JOHN

John woke up "sorry," the tall boy said "I'm Jonathon sorry I didn't believe you I guess their isn't any body here after all"
"Yeah I'm John and you punched me in my nose" John said feeling it carefully "and you were right not to trust me theirs cops on their way but wait the women on the phone said she new who we were and said that if we didn't come with them soon they were gonna star using force now I don't know about you but I don't think any one here wants to get shot am I right or am I right Jonathon thought for second "two people just went out searching for a girl that never made it here "I'll go find them John said.

After ten minutes of walking John hadn't found the boy or the girl who had gone out searching then he saw a girl slumped on the floor John ran up to her and patted her lightly "hey come on wake up" the girl groaned "the sun" she said John looked up an then back down to her "It's night now".
