The Night Games

*shadows grow fangs when they get mad...*

Addison

I pushed the black werewolf off of me and let out a dark growl, my teeth grew sharp in my mouth and I tasted the blood from where they cut my gums.

"Idiot, child!" I screamed and lunged myself at him. One thought and I could blow his brains out of his head..., I told myself as I kicked him in the chest.

"You know better than that Addison. I told you, you can not kill any of them!" said Zachariah's voice in my head.

"Where is Wesley!" barked the wolf as he lunged at me again, I dodged it and smirked.

"Your friends are with the Night Queen, they went that way, stupid dog" I said and pointed my hand in the direction Natasha went with the children. I'll let the Queen handle this filth, I said to myself and laughed, disapearing into the shadows.

*sorry, XD, major writer's block here*

*****Attention: All characters please report to cave that we started in. The next challenge shall be announced soon by the Night Queen. Shadows will again have to take names to number the ones left.

Cody

I growled foam frothing from my mouth as I ran on all fours trying to find Welsey, I could smell her, she smelled like stawberries and cream, but right now the weather had really effected my nose, where I could no longer smell her, I soon returned to the cave, I layed down and curled up into a ball and whined.

Wesley and Erin


The Night Queen

"Listen to your friend, dear Wesley. I am only trying to help you. Please do not think I am evil." It was dark and the moon was shining brightly. We were almost to the mountains but for some reason I could feel we were being watched. My heart chilled and my face turned a shade lighter. The blood disappeared from my veins and all was silent. I could hear the children's heart beats. Fast and impatient.

*where is Zachariah*

"Look, I'm sorry but you I'm going to have send you two back to the cave Addison found you in... Zachariah is about to make me announce the next game..." the Night Queen said in her melodic voice and I simply nodded, taking Erin in my arms to get ready for whatever it would feel like to be teleported. I closed my eyes tight, not sure what to think.

I didn't hear anything but the whine of a dog and I opened my eyes, confused. We were back in the cave...

~Whisper~

I waited impatiently for the next challenge to be announced. I looked all around for Sunny with Darkness at my feet. Then it was the Night Queens turn to talk.

Cody

I barred my teeth when I heard a voice... it was the voice of a chanllenge.

Wesley and Erin

I pretty much knew the dog was Cody and when he saw me and Erin, he turned back into his human form and just stared at us, I stared back, meeting his aque gaze.

"Children!" went the booming, familiar voice of the Night Queen. "The first game has ended and the shadows are coming around to take a name count. No killing until I announce that name count is done!" the voice went away. That was... that was quick, I thought to myself and sat down, leaning my back against the cave wall. Erin had gone to sleep, her small, curled up body beside me lay breathing slowly.

"I... I went looking for you" I heard Cody say, his voice was low and gentle, odd for him. "I thought you were dead..." he said. I cringed and then gave him a questioning stare.

"Why would you care?" I asked, my voice hoarse...

Cynthia

I'd gotten back to the cave in time but my counter parts were still prowling about. I didn't think it mattered. When they took the name count, I'd give mine and be accounted for. Simple. Besides, I could force the other two to re-connect with me at any point.

Sin was following the Night Queen. The very thought of it sent shivers down my spine, shivers of excitement. She wasn't actually in the cave, even though her voice was echoing off the stalagmites and stalactites. No, she was still out there. That surprised me.

And Cynthia was busy securing the little hide away I'd found. She'd collected some berries and shot down a rabbit with her bow and arrow which she was now spitting over a fire tucked out of the way inside the cave. When I allowed my mind to flow into hers, I discovered she'd pushed a few rocks into place by the entrance to hide it a little more and there was now a small pile of rushes at one side for a bed. How... sweet.

Looking around at the people gathered in the cave, I wondered how they were all feeling: scared, excited, lonely? Some seemed to have hunkered together in groups but a few stood separately. I noticed one werewolf in particular who hovered near the exit, seemingly eager to be out of there again. But he watched the shadows with what appeared to be a barely controlled hatred. How curious.

Brahn:

Brahn shook his head as he woke up. "Gah, how long have I been out..." He mumbled to obviously no one but himself. He looked around, surprised by the sudden lack of sunlight. Rubbing his head he searched for Frost, finding her petting Shinar, right beside him. The wolf growled as he noticed Brahn was awake, alerting Frost. All of the sudden Brahn felt a strange sense in his body, as if he had lost all sense of pride. As Frost turned to look at him, he smiled in unison with her, and in one swift movement, kissed her.

Frost~

"Did he just... Is he? Oh I'm going to kill that boy!" Shinar snarled, thrashing around in Frost's strong grip on his scruff. Frost leaned into the kiss, wrapping her free arm around Brahn's neck. Shiner rolled away from her, lunging in between the two of them and snapping his jaws at Brahn. "Shinar!" Frost yelled sternly, only to get a piercing glare.

"Frost, I don't want to hear it!" He spoke aloud for the first time. "Now, I want both of you to go to the cave where we started out! The Night Queen is doing a name check for the next challenge and you know what'll happen if you're not there and she finds out that you were alive." Frost shuddered slightly. Shinar gripped her sleeve in his large jaws and began to stomp towards the cave. Frost gripped Brahn's hand in her free one, pulling him behind.

Brahn

Brahn smiled at the feeling of Frost's hand in his. He would get that wolf to approve, somehow, hopefully, maybe. With his free hand he rubbed his head, Addison had hit him hard on the skull, leaving quite the nice bump behind.

"We were going to go there, Shinar." He said outloud, biting his lip as the wolf growled loudly. Frost looked back at him and smiled, clearly she had enjoyed the kiss.

River stood next to Whisper, waiting for something that he did not no of. He smiled as he looked at her. her long black hair wrapped around her body and her pure eyes stared into a land of her own.

Cody

"Why do you care?" She asked, her statement felt like she had cut me with a knife, she might as well have saved me the trouble. I couldn't make any better statement than that or anything else to even compare.

I shrugged. I bit down on my lower lip, I did what I had done when I had seen my mother killed-I closed myself up like shell, I pushed my emotions inside and I felt numb, but for some reason after I'd met Wesley, it all changed, and I hated the fact she couldn't see it. But I didn't want to hurt her, I wanted to kiss her, but not at the expence of her own life....

Wesley and Erin


He didn't answer me, instead he bip his lip and turned away from me. I folded my arms across my chest and sat at the oppisite end of the cave, even away from Erin, for the first time in a few days, I was alone once more inside of mind.

"I can't take this anymore..." I whispered to myself and was crying once more, my legs hugged tightyl to myself because of how cold I was, I'd lost Cody's somewhere when I'd been walking with the Night Queen, so of course I was cold once more. Perfect time to start planning your death..., said the vice inside of my head.

Shut up, I told it and I knew that if the voice was real it would be giving me a questioning stare. I wasn't going to hide anymore, fighting was my only choice now, the only thing I had here was Erin because it was clear to me Cody didn't want me... As I thought about him my eyes darted back over to the boy with jet-black hair...

Cody

I stood, my head hanging low. I tried to close my eyes but everytime I did, I saw her, I saw my mom, the one that was taken from me. If anything had ever happened to Wesley it would feel exactly the same, and the thing was I couldn't do a damn thing about it. I walked outside of the cave, trying so hard to avoid her eyes, but I couldn't help myself, I lifted my eyes to her sparkling teary face and she stared at me, with the same eyes my mother had. I didn't want things to be like this, and I didn't want her to hate me. I approached her and lightly took her wrist, I motioned with her to come with me, with a nod of my head. I led her outside, into the snow and away from the others.

"We need to talk." I heard myself say, I didn't think it was my voice, but since her lips didn't move I knew it was me.
