Caralina---

Caralina thought fast, what name could she use. "Peter Mclowery." She replied grabbing some cloth and patching up a hole. She moved quickly, she had done more sewing then she liked to admit. She made her stiches look decent but not the best that way it wouldn't be obvious she was a girl. She had used her dad's name and her grandmother's maiden name. She hadn't been able to think of anythign else that wouldn't give her away with giving a fake name. She saw some holes up on the upper part close to the mast and she grabbed some fabric and climbed up the post to get to them glad to be away from the guy. She quickly finished it then climbed down. SHe dind't know what she was supposed to do now. "Anything else I need to do?" She asked looking at Deriek.

[Dierik]

"Just the usual," Dierik replied, "Check the sails, riggings, maybe go below deck and help with the holes down there. Then we set sail."

Peter nodded, still not meeting his eyes.

"Are you new to pirating then?" he asked, trying to make conversation.

Peter simply nodded again, looking around uncomfortably as if he wanted to be anywhere but there.

"Well I'll leave you to get familiar with it then, I've got to go see the Captain," Dierik said briskly, making for Raphael's quarters.

Caralina (Peter)---

Caralina breathed in releif and quickly went to the tasks he had said. She remembered everything from when she had gone sailing with her dad. SHe was now glad she had bothered the crew so much with all her questions. She wouldn't look completely stupid when it came to working on the ship. She checked everything that needed to be, and then she went down and started helping patch the ship. So far everything was going good. She hadn't been found out.

Andy groaned as he got up. Being on a pirate ship seems more tiring then being the Queen's gaurd..and she's a real Whiny brat.
Andy then saw a man walk across the deck that caught his attention.
" Who's that?" Andy asked a passing powder monkey.
" I don't know, Magic man. He just came like you."
Andy smiled and ruffled the Boy's hair and sent him off. He looked at the man.
Pretty small for a pirate..in fact, a little too small for a man.

*yeah, I noticed that mistake later...rats. Cabin boy would've been fun. lol. I guess I'll just be a normal AB (Able-Bodied seaman), then.*

Garin quickly scaled the mizzenmast, the heavy bag of putty draped flung his shoulder. He was always the fastest when it came to climbing, and anyway, he enjoyed the thrill of being up high and the wet, salty breeze against his face.

A bit of the mast had been hacked away, and the ship's carpenter did not want a weakened mast on the open sea so prone to storms.

The boy examined the wound closely. Some bloke with a hatchet, he had been told. Probably trying to slow them down, even if they weren't going to win the fight. The sailor must've been mad, trying to take down an entire mast, the very one he was clinging to, with nothing but a hatchet, up high and an easy target for any man with a pistol.

Garin quickly patched up the minor wound with the putty, then, after pulling a few splinters out of the calluses on his hands, started back down.

*haha, all I can think of...>.< lol*

Captain Raphael

I had just reentered my quarters when there was a rap at the door.

"Yea?" I called, waiting for it to open. Dierek walked in.

"Cap'n?"

"Yes?" I waited.

Tristan (Isabella)

I smiled up at Thorn, then realized how feminine a smile could look. Quickly I changed my facial expression.

"Well..." I said awkwardly. "um..."

I laid a hand on Tristan's shoulder and smiled down at him. I could tell he was uncomfortable.

"Get to work, lad. There's much to be done before we set sail again. We need all the able-bodied man we can get on deck and workin'."

I squeezed his shoulder and walked to relieve the poor sailor still stationed at the helm. I found him gripping the dark wood with a grip death would've envied.

"You're free to go now, lad. Thank'ee for the help," I said, removing his hands, letting mine take their place. Without a word, he ran off, disappearing from my sight in a matter of moments.

Lilith~

Lilith tied a peice of ripped cloth around her wound and continued working, singing a pirate song she'd learn long ago.

Tristan/Isabella -- April 11th, 1650

I nodded and scampered away, trying to catch my breath.

Arthur Hearthorn -- April 11th, 1650 -- Helmsman/Navigator

A gust of wind brought softly-sung words of a song floating up to my ears from the deck. I caught sight of the source; a young girl working among the other sailors. I recognized her as Lilith, also known as Purple Shark.

A smile traced my lips as I let her words echo from my own mouth, louder and deeper than hers. She glanced up at the sound of my voice above the din of the other sailors.

"To the mast nail our flag it is dark as the grave,
Or the death which it bears while it sweeps o'er the wave;
Let our deck clear for action, our guns be prepared;
Be the boarding-axe sharpened, the scimetar bared:
Set the canisters ready, and then bring to me,
For the last of my duties, the powder-room key.
It shall never be lowered, the black flag we bear;
If the sea be denied us, we sweep through the air.
Unshared have we left our last victory's prey;
It is mine to divide it, and yours to obey:
There are shawls that might suit a sultana's white neck,
And pearls that are fair as the arms they will deck.

There are flasks which, unseal them, the air will disclose
Diametta's fair summers, the home of the rose.
I claim not a portion: I ask but as mine
'Tis to drink to our victory - one cup of red wine.
Some fight, 'tis for riches - some fight, 'tis for fame:
The first I despise, and the last is a name.

I fight, 'tis for vengeance! I love to see flow,
At the stroke of my sabre, the life of my foe.
I strike for the memory of long-vanished years;
I only shed blood where another shed tears,
I come, as the lightning comes red from above,
O'er the race that I loathe, to the battle I love.
"

The song ended with all eyes on either Purple Shark or myself, not a sound to be heard along the length of the ship. I smiled to myself and resumed steering as the Cap'n emerged from his cabin, no doubt having heard the whole song from below. He looked around the ship once before his voice broke above the silence.

"Get back ter work, ye scallywags! This ship won't be fixin' herself anytime soon! Smartly there, lads, or else it'll be the locker for you!"

The certainly got their attention. Even though threats like that, even from the captain, were rarely followed through, just the thought could send a whole ship into action.

I went back to my job, singing a soft tune the whole while under my breath, a small smile never leaving my lips.

"Yo ho, yo ho. A pirate's life for me..."

Garin smiled as his bare feet touched the rough deck. He didn't know very many sea-faring shanties, but the few he knew were, in his mind, terribly disturbing; songs of tormenting a poor drunken sailor, or the horrors of the Black Ball Line. He preferred these songs, but he didn't pick them up very quickly. He knew the tune, though, and hummed along as he gave the bag of putty back to the ship's carpenter and looked around for more work.
Where are we going?

[Dierik]

Dierik cleared his throat as the captain reentered the room, looking straight at him. It was something his dad had always said, "Look a man straight in the eyes. Elsewise they think you're shifty, up to something."

He shook his head slightly, thinking of the new man, Peter. The one who wouldn't look him in the eye...

"Sorry about that," Raphael said, to get his attention. It was spoken like a command, like he had just said, "Whatever's on your mind, get it off. I don't have all day."

"Right, well I was just wondering how you're going to get Toribrio to give us the map? Surely she wouldn't just... hand them over?"

OOC: This is just a simple warning that, chances are, I won't be on much for the next week. Dad grounded me. I'll try to post as much as I can. Also, I have no idea what to do with Isabella/Tristan as of now, so if anyone could put her into their post as doing something, it would help me greatly.

Captain Raphael

"I have been thinking about that," I agreed, looking at the map on my desk. It showed the route to get to Toribrio's isle, even though we all knew the way.

"And...?" Deirek prompted. I shot him a sharp glance, not appreciating the way he seemed to be picking through my mind.

"And I have yet to come up with anything worthwhile. We could always forcefully take them, if necessary. Or offer to bring her along, if that suits her. There are many possibilities, but i haven't chosen one yet."

[Dierik]

Dierik nodded, Raphael wasn't in the mood to discuss much right now. He took a moment to process the information, found it rather unsettling, then excused himself, "I'll just be going then. Thank ye Cap'n."

Raphael gave him a small nod of dismissal and Dierik quickly made his way on deck. Bring her along? he thought, confused, Why would we do that?

Dierik shook his head, best not to question the captain's judgment at this point. His eyes traced the floor as he walked ahead, thinking to himself. He looked up at the sound of footsteps to see the new man, Peter. His eyes narrowed, something about Peter made Dierik suspicious, like he had something to hide.

He shivered, he needed something to occupy his mind. He looked around the deck, seeing the crew begin to relax in their positions. The Plague was nearly sailing herself now that she was out in the open water with the wind at her back, and that meant the crew would be falling into their less active state.

He decided to go below deck to watch the gambling.

Caralina (Peter)---

Caralina walked up to the of the boat and looked out at the sea. Her head itched from keeping her hair held up in her hat all day long. She sighed, there was no letting it down though. Carefully she checked the binding on her chest, it was still tight and didn't seem to give any sign of falling off and revieling her gender. It was just another pain of having to hid who she was. She knew that if she wanted to stay alive and well she would have to keep it her seceret and her's alone. She had managed to not look anyone in the eyes, but she was getting worried it was making the crew suspisous. She couldn't be sure though. She felt herself relaxing at the sound of the water hitting the side of the boat and the sails flapping softly in the wind. She smiled. This could be a satisfying life, but she didn't think she would be able to live it having to hide who she was for long. She would have to until their next port stop, but she could do that.
