Karana

That made sense. The eruption, and then its sudden death. The fire power was its power!

I nodded as realization hit me; the most active or extreme locations were probably where the other shrines were.

"How do we find the next one?" I could not help but ask. "And when do we head out?"

That was a stupid question. Even as I spoke, I could feel the day's excitement on me, leaving me exhausted.

"The next shrine is located in the far western region of Horagothien in the Thunder Plains, just north of the Seven Seas of Sand." Thunder Plains was a giant savanna with absolutely no wildlife. The reason for that was because the place lived up to its name. The entire region was shadowed by thunder clouds with lightning that struck anything that moved. The Seven Seas of Sand was a desert that took up all of southern Horagothien.

"You can't be serious," Tyrant said. "That place is a no-man's land, it's suicide to even step foot in that place."

"I realize that," Kai said. "Then again, I stepped foot in an active volcano, went to the very bottom of it and lived through its eruption. We can find a way." He turned back to Karana. "As to when we're leaving, as soon as Draco finishes teaching you all."

"Teaching us?" Karana asked.

"Karana, I know I can't talk you out of not coming with me on this journey even if I wanted to." He turned to Renien and Tyrant. "I assume you two will be coming as well?"

"We have no place else to go," Tyrant said.

"Besides," Renian said, "every hero needs help when it comes to saving the world." She smiled when she said it.

"I don't think it'll come to that, but thanks." He turned back to Karana. "I have no doubt about your skills with your bow and blade, but the enemies we're going to be facing will no doubt be able to wield magic. So you're all going to have to learn how to use Dragon Knight magic like I have."

Draco stepped in. "Time is short, and I cannot teach you everything this day, but by morning you will all have a basic understanding of the Chaotic magic the Dragon Knights wield."

"What do you say?" Kai asked, looking at all three of them. "Are you ready to live up to your legacy as Dragon Knights?"

By the next day your characters will be able to use these incantations:

Oraza: Fire
Raiakk: Thunder
Kkumnar: Ice
Mozago: Force
Zuu: Magic
Kkumnuss: Shield

Your characters are not limited to what they can cast by just using single incantations. You are free to take two or more words and put them together to make new spells. For example, using both the words Ice and Shield in the same incantation will create a shield, or wall of ice to protect your characters. This is the best part of this storybook so feel free to experiment.

The language these words come from is the language of the dragons, Dragonese. This list will grow everytime your characters hear a new word from this language that only dragons and Dragon Knights can understand.

(They're probably confused with all the information I've squeezed into the last couple of posts. Let's give them some time to figure it out, we can still post. I was actually hoping you'd be the next one to post, Ayumi. You seem to be the only one here who understands what my character is talking about.)

Renian~

Renian bit her lip and closed her eyes, thinking. If you ever become a Dragon Knight, don't be afraid to live it out. She could hear her mother tell her before she was hung. She gripped the katanas on her side and opened her eyes, staring at Kai. "I am," she said seriously and turned to Tyrant, whom looked like he was deep in thought.

Karana

I nodded, stepping up beside Kai. "I am."

And that was it. It was final. I would be a Dragon Knight, just like Kai, just like my best friend, just like my new friends.

"Tyrant?" I asked. He was still deep in thought.

Tyrant--

Tyrant slowly nodded his head. "I'm up for it." He smiled.

"Very well," Draco said. "Before I teach you all how to use magic you must first know where the magic must come from. Inside the spirit of every Dragon Knight is a flame. This flame is the source of your magic."

"How do we use it?" Tyrant asked.

"Close your eyes, all of you." They did what the dragon told them and closed their eyes. "Now, clear your minds of all thoughts. Focus on nothing but the beat of your heart."

The dragon gave them a moment to quiet their minds. Kai went to sit down against a nearby tree and watch. He had done it all before and knew how it would go.

"Now, feel past the beat of your heart. Look deep into yourself and find the flame that burns in each of your souls."

Karana felt something as she focused past the beating of her own heart. It was warm, the kind of warm you feel when holding your hands out to an open fire after spending hours in the cold. It was feint, but it was there.

"I can feel it," Karana said.

"Me, too," Renian said.

Tyrant said, "I don't know why I never felt it before."

"Now, Karana will be the first to try," Draco said. "Now that you can feel the flame, I want you to pull on it and say the word Oraza. The energy for this spell will need a path to follow, so you must hold your hand out toward your target."

Karana slowly opened her eyes, careful not to break her concentration. "I'll try." She turned to a nearby stump and held out her hand and began to pull on that metaphysical flame inside her just as Draco had told her. She took a deep breath to steady herself and said, "Oraza!"

A ball of fire shot out of her palm and blasted the stump into little bits and pieces of charred wood.

Karana

"Whoa!" I cried out when bits of blackened wood sprayed around us. My concentration snapped in my surprise, but my job was even greater.

Kai smiled when I slowly approached the ruined stump. Running my fingers of the smoking remnants, I whispered a curse.

This was amazing!

And it was at my command now.

"Thank you," I looked up at the dragon. "Thank you for teaching us!"

My person uses Ice. So should Ice shoot out, or fire. Tell me if this is wrong.

Tyrant---

Tyrant stood surprised. He had to close his eyes again and gain conection with the flame.

"Tyrant, you can try it next." Draco said. He nodded and found another stump. His hands slowly raised as the warmth of the flame inside him slowly grew. He looked at the stump and his hands leveled with it.

"Oraza!" He said. He was surprised to see daggers of ice fly from his palm and tear into the stump some coming out on the other side. He looked at his hands. They weren't torn or cut or anything. "Was that supposed to happen?"

(That's wrong. Oraza is the Dragonese word for fire, Kkumnar is the word for ice. Tyrant doesn't know that, though, because they're just working on fire right now to practice. Don't worry, I'll fix it in my post. After this post you'll be able to use all the incantations in my earlier post.)

Tyrant stood surprised. He had to close his eyes again and gain connection with the flame.

"Tyrant, you can try it next." Draco said.

Tyrant looked at the stump Karana had burned. The burning power of Fire didn't interest him. No, he was more drawn toward the chilling element of Ice. "What is the word for ice?" he asked.

"Kkumnar."

Tyrant nodded and found another stump. His hands slowly raised as the warmth of the flame inside him slowly grew. He looked at the stump and his hands leveled with it.

"Kkumnar!" He said. Daggers of ice flew from his palm and tore into the stump, some came out on the other side. He looked at his hands, they weren't torn or cut or anything. "My hands are unharmed," he said in surprise.

"The spell does not materialize when it is still inside of you," Draco said. "When the magic finds an exit point it turns into matter the moment it leaves you body." Draco turned to Renian next. "Since Karana has used Fire and Tyrant has used Ice, why don't you try Thunder?"

"Okay," she said, a little nervous.

"Do not be afraid, as long as you point your hand away from yourself you shall not be harmed. The word for Thunder is Raiakk."

Renian nodded and faced the stump that Tyrant had pierced with his ice. She focused on the flame inside of her and began to pull on it. She held her hand out to the stump and said, "Raiakk!" A bolt of lightning jumped out of her hand and struck the rooted wood. Both the stump and the ice inside it exploded in electrified bits. Renian shielded her face as some of the smaller debris flew by.

She lowered her arms to see that the stump was gone. All that was left was a small charred crater with little roots sticking out of the ground. "Wow," was all she could say.

"These are the three physical energies of Chaos," Draco said. "Fire, Thunder and Ice, as well as Darkness and Light, are the elements you will use as the foundation for all of your spells. As the days go by on our journey you will all learn more words from the ancient language of Dragonese. Until then, you will practice on these three eleme-" Draco stopped, spun around and began to growl at something in the distance. His growl was a low menacing rumble.

Kai got to his feet, his hand gripping the handle of his sword. "What is it, Draco?"

"He has found us."

Kai's eyes narrowed as he pulled his sword out of its sheathe. The others reached for their weapons as well. "What is it, Kai?" Karana asked as she knocked an arrow.

"We know you're here, Kujimaru, so you'd might as well stop hiding," Kai shouted, his words echoing through the forest.

For a few moments there was silence, then they heard footsteps. A man emerged from the trees. He had long, snow white hair and wore a white samurai kimono with blue designs. He looked no older than 30, but his eyes held the age of centuries. His silver eyes seemed calm, but menacing, as if a storm was brewing inside of him. On his waist was a katana in a black wood sheathe. The sword was about a length and a half of Kai's sword, the Tenjin.

"Who is this guy?" Karana asked, keeping her voice to a soft whisper.

Kai whispered back. "I'll explain later." He brought his attention back to the man before them. "You can't take the Tenjin from me, Kujimaru. Didn't you learn your lesson the other night?"

Kujimaru's voice was calm and mature, but held a slight edge of threat. "I underestimated you last time, brother. I will not make the same mistake twice."

Karana gasped. "Brother?"

"Later," Kai said.

Kujimaru took a step forward. Draco let out a roar and sprang forward, baring his fangs and claws. All they heard was Kujimaru say, "Tere Raiassou," when a blinding spark erupted from Draco's body and threw him into a tree.

"Draco!" Karana shouted.

The dragon's voice echoed through their minds. "Do not worry about me, you must all work together to defeat him."

"Draco's right," Kai said, "We can help him after we defeat Kujimaru." They looked at Kujimaru to see his hand lit with electricity. Kai pointed the Tenjin at the man and said, "We outnumber you four to one, there's no way you can beat us."

"Numbers do not matter to me," Kujimaru said, "I will strike you all down and take what is rightfully mine, starting with you, brother. Raiadodo Raiamno." Kujimaru's body disappeared in a white blur.

"Where did he go?" Tyrant said.

Just as suddenly as he vanished, Kujimaru reappeared in front of Kai and brought his electrified hand into his stomach. The electrical energy coursing through his hand sent Kai soaring through the air. He landed with an unpleasant thud a few yards away.

"Kai!" Karana ran to her friend's side while Renian and Tyrant held their ground.

Kujimaru gave them calm cold eyes. "You would risk your lives to protect that half-breed?"

"That half breed is our friend," Renian said. "We won't let you kill him."

"Then you shall die along side him." Kujimaru reached for his sword and slowly pulled it out of its sheathe. He said, "Raiassou Amnotekkaro," and the blade of his katana was engulfed with electricity.

(By the way, I based this character off of Seshomaru from the anime show Inuyasha. If you want a mental picture of him, just think of him as Seshomaru. Also, to keep everyone from using an incantation incorrectly, there's going to be a rule. Your characters cannot use an incantation in the same battle they heard it. The only ones you can use will be listed after every battle or anytime your characters hear a new word in dialog. When that happens, I'll post an updated list of all the incantations your characters can use and their meanings.)

***Ah, Sesshomaru's awesome! Nice choice, Dynamo!***

Karana

"Kai? Are you okay?" I knelt beside him as an incantation escaped Kujimaru's mouth.

He sat up stiffly, and nodded, but that was short lived. He caught my wrist and jumped as Kujimaru lunged forward, swinging his electrified sword at us. He pushed me to the side as Kujimaru came again, ready for an attack.

What IS this guy?! He's so strong and fast! We can barely keep up!

No! Don't think like that! You have to do something! You have to help Kai!

As the brothers struggled, I backed away and stepped to the side, around them. Just let me get a good shot, any shot, and I would take it. Tyrant and Renian followed my example.

I raised my bow and drew on the flame, calling the fire...

Kujimaru's back was to me...

I leveled on his back...

"Oraza!" And my arrow went flying.

The fiery arrow soared through the air and hit him in the back. The arrow made a small explosion when it hit him.

Kujimaru stopped moving all of a sudden. He turned his head slowly to see Karana. His eyes were filled with a dark emotion that froze Karana in place with fear.

"I'm your opponent!" Kai yelled as he lunged forward. Kujimaru's body disappeared before his blade could hit him. He reappeared behind Kai and said, "Tere Raiassou." His hand was engulfed in electricity again. He plunged his hand into Kai's back. Kai let out a scream as the electricity coursed through his body. Kujimaru suddenly grabbed him by the shoulder and threw him into a tree. The impact was so powerful that it caused the tree to fall over.

"Kai!" Karana yelled. She wanted to go to him and help him but Kujimaru turned and began to stalk toward her. Again, she was frozen in place by fear.

Renian and Tyrant stood in front of Karana to protect her. Tyrant held out his hand and shouted, "Kkumnar!" Daggers of ice shot from his palm at Kujimaru but he batted them away with a swing of his long sword. Renian shouted, "Raiakk!" and shot a bolt of lightning at him but the man lifted his sword and deflected it with the side of his thin blade. The bolt bounced off his katana and hit a nearby tree.

Kujimaru's body disappeared in another blur of white and reappeared in front of Tyrant. He grabbed him by the front of the shirt and lifted him off the ground. The movement was so fast Tyrant had no way to stop it.

"Tyrant!" Renian ran at Kujimaru, but he threw Tyrant at her and they both fell to the ground. They're weapons flew out of their hands and scattered across the ground.

Karana was left to stand alone against the enemy. Kujimaru towered over her, her fear paralyzing her and making her unable to run. Kujimaru grabbed her by the neck and lifted her off the ground.

Karana tried to struggle, but his grip was too strong. If he wanted to he could crush her neck by simply increasing the pressure. "You will die first," Kujimaru said.

As Karana struggled she tried to call out for help, but all she could manage was a muffled, "...Kai..."

"Put her down!"

Kujimaru turned around. The movement let Karana see what he saw. She had the urge to gasp in surprise, but she couldn't get a breath past the man's grip.

Kai was standing, unharmed, holding a new, red sword. The sword was twice the size as the Tenjin and three times the width. It was wide and curved, with an edge the shape of a saw to give it more of a flame shape. The whole blade was set on fire. It's handle was the same as the Tenjin's, except the tooth hanging from the end glowed with an burning orange aura.

Kai's body had changed as well. The muscles in his arms and grown to the point where they ripped through the sleeves of his shirt. His wings were on fire, as were his eyes. One his forehead was the Dragonese symbol for fire, glowing bright orange.

He pointed the tip of his sword at Kujimaru and said, "I said, put her down!"
