"So, you trying to get a career in art?" Kai asked.

"Something like that," Audra said. "What about you?"

"I'm trying to become a video game designer."

"Really?"

Kai nodded. "It's not as easy as everyone thinks it is. Not only does it take good computer skills, but you also have to have exceptional writing and artistic skills. The hours are long and the deadlines are crucial, but the pay-off is worth it. And on top of all that I also want to become an accomplished writer, as you noticed yesterday."

"Wow, that's pretty impressive. You pretty much have your whole life planned out don't you?"

The school's P.A. system turned on and a student's voice echoed through the whole school. "Don't forget about the dance Friday night, everyone. Admission is $15.00 or three canned food items. Get your ticket's before it's too late!"

Kai gave Audra and inquisitive look. "Are you doing anything Friday night?"

I walked alongside Billy to my table and took the spot just barely oppsite him. Say something you retard! I wanted to bang my head into the table but I doubted that would look very good. SAY SOMTHING!

I couldn't stop the studder from excaping my lips, "how long have you been coming here?"
I just lost the game.

I shrugged, trying to appear as casual as possible. You IDIOT! Why're you so goddamn nervous, it's not like you have to make her like you - she already does! Think, man!

"I've only been here about a week, my family just moved here. You?"

I smiled. Of course I wasn't doing anything Friday! I'd just be drawing some more and staying up until who-knows-when.

"No. You?" I asked, knowing what he was getting at. Ah, why not? What's a little dancing with a senior going to hurt?

He shook his head. "Nothing. Want to go?"

I felt my smile broaden. I instantly closed my lips, hiding my braces. "Sure! It sounds great!"

Yep, I knew it. This was starting off too good.

And I was beginning to like him.

I grimanced, starting to get a little more comfortable around him, but how casual he appeared ticked me off a little bit when I was so blut with how nervous I was. "I can't remember a public school."

"Ouch."

"But I do admit I'd rather be here than home."

He gave me a quizzical look, "why?"

"At home...I'm the 'freak amung freaks'."
I just lost the game.

I frowned a little, concerned.

"A freak among freaks? What makes you say that? You seem pretty normal to me."

I shrugged, "I'm just really weird most of the time. When I'm not nervous," I didn't know why I added that part. "I am also really random. Not so much lately," I stared helplessly at my plate, "but thats a horse of a different color."

"Oh." he still looked concerned.

I looked up at him my mind faintly beginning to hope.
I just lost the game.

I shook my head and smiled a little.

"Come on, it can't really be that bad, I've known plenty of people like that. In fact, I don't know anyone who's completely sane. I myself am kinda crazy."

I could see that she was looking happier now and congratulated myself. Good work, now all you've gotta do is make yourself look normal enough to like, but crazy enough to be interesting.

The P.A. system burst into life above us, saving me from having to explain myself further.

I smiled at her, "You free on Friday?"

I couldn't help it, instincts kicked in and I couldn't help but tease him, "I don't know, I think I've got some homework."

"Oh," he looked dissappointed, "couldn't you do it on Saturday?"

I sucked in a breath, "nope."

"Oh," he looked even more dissappointed.

I laughed, "I'm teasing. I don't really have a life and I never do my homework on Fridays. I'm free."
I just lost the game.

I laughed. How could you be so stupid, Bill?

"That was mean, but I'll forgive you if you go to the dance with me."

She grinned at me.

"Sounds like a plan."

"Glad to hear it," Kai said. "Can I pick you up at six?"

"Six sounds good," Audra said.

Kai glanced up at the clocked to check the time. "Lunch is almost over. Would you like me to walk you to your next class?"

Six sounded really good. This guy was so cool!

And now he was wanting to walk me to class? Talk about a gentleman!

"If the art room isn't out of your way?" I asked, silently praying that it wasn't.

I took a bite of my pizza to excuse myself from saying anything else, akward pause ensued. She couldn't stop thinking about what she was going to wear. The hid her relief when the bell rang and she had to go to class.

"Same time tomorrow?" I offered.

He nodded.

Feeling a little akward at what I was about to do I hovered for a moment before pressing a kiss to his cheek and running away.
I just lost the game.

I blinked, surprised, before allowing myself a grin. Well, you've done it now, Bill.

I stood up and began walking to my next class, still grinning.

Now you can tell Bella, though she'll probably only warn you to be careful.

But what do you care?

You'll remember what you were gonna tell him today!

WHy would he need to know that? Its not like its made a difference around him. Or even not around him it seems.

Shut up!

I smacked my head against my hand and told myself to stop arguing with myself again. I was really going to develop multiple personalities. He didn't need to know about my past mistakes, I was over them, and it didn't matter...I hoped.

Realizing that I didn't have my class with Bella today I sat down and started writing it in our note language, nothing we made up, but very few people knew it, "I'll have to teach him this someday," I mumbled to myself and wrote it all down.
I just lost the game.
