"It's a little out of my way," Kai admitted as he gathered up his stuff, "but I don't mind."

Together they made their way through the crowds of students. On the way they talked a little more about art and college.

"This is it," Audra said when they arrived at the art room. She turned to Kai and said, "Thanks for walking me to class."

"It was my pleasure," he said. "I'm looking forward to the dance Friday."

"Me, too. I'll see you later." Kai was taken off guard when Audra planted a light kiss on his cheek. When his mind finally had enough sense to say something she had already disappeared into the classroom.

Audra

I loved his expression. I had taken him by surprise, and it thrilled me. Not as much as a date did, but it still thrilled me.

I turned around as he stammered and walked off, a slight blush coloring his face.

I giggled, getting my canvas and paints out to start the next assignment.

Okay, then...would it be okay if I just do a time skip and set up a scene for someone to build off of? I see we're in a block...

Alright, but we'll have to hold it out really long because I'm going with the guy who's leaving so...Only problem I see with that.

Uh, okay, then...nevermind. Wait! I can do a scene a couple of hours BEFORE the dance, right? Hope this works...

Audra

I sat in the choir room, which was on the completely opposite side of the school. I wasn't ready to go to the gym yet, to see Kai, to dance and have fun...

I sat at one of the many pianos, my hands lightly touching the keys as I played softly...I didn't know why I was so quiet; I doubted anyone would hear me...

Just like they might not hear me singing...

Oh, what the heck. I was just playing My Immortal...it's not like I was going too high vocally - well, until the end, where I decided to add-lib.

I knew I was playing and singing, but my heart wasn't there. My mind was on Kai, and his reaction...what would he think if he saw me in this little black dress and leggings with a gold choker and gold heels...an odd outfit to dance in, but I was comfortable.

Oh well.

*Anyone can enter or whatever. Hope this helps!*

Kai was dressed in a crimson red dress shirt and black dress pants. The dance wasn't a formal occasion, but he always liked to look good for these sort of things. Plus, it was either this or a black shirt that said, "I'm out of bed, what more do you want?" and he thought that wouldn't be a very good choice for a first date. His hair was done up in a ponytail because he thought it would get in his face when he danced. If Audra didn't like it he could always take it out. All the guys in his previous schools said he looked like a freak with his hair like that, but it was a completely different story for all the girls. One time he swore he heard one of the girls coo at him as he passed her in the hallway.

He liked to arrive early for dates, but he was nervous and ended up leaving a couple of hours before the dance actually started. As he walked down to the gym he heard someone singing and playing the piano in the choir room. Who would be in the choir room this late at night? he thought.

He came to the choir room and saw that the door was slightly open. He quietly entered the room, closing the door very gently behind him. He saw Audra playing on the piano and singing her heart out. Kai didn't want to stop her, he thought her voice sounded great. He leaned against the wall and listened to the rest of the song. When she was finished he said, "You have a very beautiful voice."

Audra

I gasped as the chord abruptly stopped. Who was here?

There, standing against the wall near the door, dressed to - ironically - match me. Crimson shirt, black slacks...wow! He looked nice!

It took me a moment to realize what he had said; the shock of being discovered had caused me to blank out...again. "Um, thanks. It's not perfect, but..." I shrugged. Does he really think I can sing that good? Other people say I'm annoying!

I began playing Fur Elise as he approached, pulling up a chair to sit near me.

"Ready for the dance tonight?" I began. "You look good, ready."

I couldn't stifle my giggle. What was I thinking? I'd only known the guy for a week!

But I couldn't help it. He was cute, nice, funny, and I liked him.

"I'm ready," Kai said. "You look nice."

"Thanks," Audra said, trying not to giggle. "So do you." She noticed his hair was tied up in a ponytail. On any other guy it would have looked girly, but with him it just made him look even more handsome.

She had to ask. "So, what's with the hair?"

"You don't like it?" Kai asked.

"No, I like it. I've just never seen a guy in a ponytail before."

Kai smiled. "I tried to look my best tonight, and I thought my hair would get in the way when we started dancing." Kai stayed silent for a few minutes as he listened to Audra playing the piano. "You're a very good pianist, did you learn how to play at this school?"

Audra

"No, I...I teach myself," I smiled. "I took lessons for about two years when I was eight, then I quit. I started getting back into it last summer, so...I just sat down and started playing."

I ended Fur Elise with my own custom ending, then went into the Hyuuga Theme, from my favorite anime series.

"That's impressive," Kai remarked, continuing to watch me.

I chanced a glance at the clock. Only thirty minutes until the dance started...perfect.

I felt myself blush. "Kai?"

"Yes?"

"Would you..." Oh great. The big favor to ask. "Would you mind if I worked on some of my opera, for voice lessons? You can stay if you like, it's just...I wanted to ask before I started singing."

Oh, gosh, did I really just ask him that? I silently prayed while he devoured that. Please don't be like the others. Don't cuss me out for this. Please.

Kai could see the worry on her face. Was she worried he might not like her singing? He smiled. "Of course, I'd love to hear more of your singing."

Audra smiled back. She closed her eyes and began to sing. Kai had never heard a voice like her's before, if this was what an opera singer actually sounded like, he would definitely have to go to one.

When Audra finished Kai said, "I said it before and I'll say it again, you have a very beautiful voice."

Audra looked away, trying to hide a blush. "Thank you. You're actually the first person who actually likes my singing."

"I find that hard to believe," Kai said.

"It's just... everyone else thinks my voice is annoying when I sing. Sometimes they even make fun of me. To actually hear someone say they liked my singing..."

Kai reached over and placed a hand on her shoulder. He looked into her eyes and said, "Then those people are wrong. Ignore what they have to say, they wouldn't know true talent if it smacked them in the face. Audra, you have a magnificent voice. Don't let anyone make you think otherwise."
