Alice

I thought for a moment, "Misery Buisness, by Paramore."

I watched as he left me for a moment to go request my song for me. I felt really akward. Should I kiss him? No, not right now. A good-night kiss on the cheek before I conviently saw one of my friends and had to run and catch up. Or maybe the other way around...

Whichever way I did it I was gonna do it.

I mentally smacked myself over and over again, don't be a chicken shit don't be a chicken shit!
I just lost the game.

(I haven't heard of that song before, probably because I don't pay much attention to the music world. Is that a fast or slow paced song?)

(Misery Business is kind of fast. It's a rock song.)

"Wonderful," I muttered as the request finished. "Just flippin' wonderful." Might help if you played DDR more often. I shook my head; how could a game teach me to dance?

This was turning out to be a perfectly awful evening.

(Billy and author13, you two can do whatever you were planning with the requested song. This post is just what happens for Kai and Audra when the next song starts playing.)

Audra came back a few moments later. "I'm back," she said.

"So you are," Kai smiled. "Ready to dance some more?"

"OK!" They danced to the newly requested song, Misery Business. The beat was fast, just like the song Kai had requested. Once the song finished, they were out of breath, again.

"It's hard to keep up with you," Kai admitted.

"You're not doing too bad," Audra said.

The next song was a slow paced song. Kai held out his hand and said, "May I have this dance, Audra?"

Audra

Wow. So straightforward. I can actually say I was impressed.

I nodded and took his hand, letting him pull me a little closer as we swayed to the song. I hummed along with it since I recognized it; I only knew the chorus' words, but I didn't want to draw attention to myself. I would hum the entire thing.

"This is great," I whispered as we danced. "I'm actually having fun for once."

"I'm glad you're enjoying yourself," Kai said as he swayed with her to the slow beat of the song.

"Thanks for asking me out to the dance, Kai."

"Your welcome," he whispered back.

As the song neared its end Kai found himself gazing down at Audra. She caught his gaze and stared into his chocolate brown eyes. Both their hearts began to race as they drew their faces close to one another.

And they kissed.

Audra

Nothing. There was nothing in my world, except him. All I knew was Kai, his hands on my waist, his lips to mine. It was pleasant, almost like a dream, to be loved...

Then reality hit me. What was I doing? What had happened to me?

I broke the kiss, gasping as I turned bright red.

"S-sorry," I stammered, my whole body shaking.

"Your first kiss?" he smiled, his face still a bit close to mine. I could feel his breath on my mouth.

"Y-yeah." Great. Just what he needed to know. I was naive when it came to guys and sexual contact. "But it was great."

I shrugged, trying to relax and surpress my embarrassment.

"Um...Kai, I...I really, really like you."

(This is good, I need more practice on romantic stuff for my own book I'm writing.)

Kai made a relaxed sigh and said, "I really like you, too. To tell you the truth, that was my first kiss, too."

Audra's eyes widened a little at that. "...Really?" He nodded. "I never would have guessed. I mean, you always seem so confident when it comes to..." She didn't know how to say it without sounding weird.

Kai chuckled a little and pulled her closer. He was taller than her, so when he leaned his face against her's his cheek brushed her ear. They didn't have to say anything, they just continued to dance as the next slow song began.

Poetry is my cheap means of transportation. By the end of the poem the reader should be in a different place from where he started. I would like him to be slightly disoriented at the end, like I drove him outside of town at night and dropped him off in a cornfield.
— Billy Collins
