They reached town and Kathy was perpaired to grab their colars when the place appeared.

When it did she grabbed all their colars and yanked them around two corners into the abondoned motel.

They pushed things infront of the door and closed the windows, "we'll be realitivly save here," Kathy said, "for a while at least. Me and Bill closed it down for weapon distrubution. Its got more firearms under the desk."

Kathy's face fell at the mention of Bill's name, and Marlene stood suddenly. "Okay, so, who's sleeping where?"

Slade glanced nervously at Kathy, obviously wanting to comfort her. Marlene continued, "I guess I'll sleep over there." She pointed to a room. "And whoever else can sleep in the room beside it."

"Sounds good to me. I'll bunk with you," Jordan said.

"Alright. So, Kathy, you got any crowbars in this place? We need some weapons."

Kathy shrugged, "I don't know where they would be, probably in the supply closet somewhere." She stood up, "I'll go look for it."

"I'll come with you," Slade said jumpping to his feet.

"No, thats okay," Kathy feebly protested.

Slade looked down, annoyed.'Time to leave, as soon as shes out of site, im outa here'. Just as he thought this, she turned the corner. Slade jumped up, and started to walk away.

"Hey! Where are you going? There are zombies everywhere out there!" Yelled Marlene.

"I'll take my chances."

"Well im not letting you go." she said, and gripped onto his arm. He was very frustrated at this point, and started swinging her around as though she was a rag doll. As soon as she lost her grip he jumped onto the side of the Motel, and started to climb, so noone else would been able to grab him. From here, he began scaling the wall, trying to get to the other side so he wouldnt have to face to much conflict when he left. Just as he reached the top, he heard Kathy coming around the corner covered with new guns.

"Ok everyone, here they a.... where's Slade?"

"He just climbed the wall!"they both yelled in reply. ' Stupid tattle tales'.

Slade broke into a run, knowing that Kathy would try to block him off from escape because she thought he was to immature to handle himself. He saw a hook on the roof, next to a rope, and tied them together. As he reached the end of the roof, he gripped it to the top, and started sliding down. Of course, no escape can go that easily, seeing as when he was halfway down, the hook came off, and he was falling.

Marlene tried to stand from where Slade had pushed her, her eyes wide and her pulse beating hard against her chest. Jordan took her hand and helped her up.

"Are you okay?"

She nodded, though still felt shaky. What had just happened?

"I'll go after him," Kathy said, and left.

"Are you sure you're okay?" Jordan asked.

Ignoring his question, she huffed. "Well, what was wrong with him?"

"Slade!" Kathy called when she caught up to him, "Slade, please stop."

Reluctantly he stopped and turned around, "what do you want Kathy?"

"I want you to stay."

"Because I can't take care of myself?"

"Because of your friends, don't abondon them, don't abondon me. We all need help if we're going to survive this. Please stay." Slade looked in her eyes and saw the erenest innocence there, "we all need help." Tears burned her dry eyes but she forced them to stay behind, now was not the time to lose it. "We all need help sometimes, this is one of those times. So help us, and stay."

He sighed, "do you have a plan?"

"Not really."

**oh, sorry, i thought we were still outside.....**

"Then whats the point? You all seem to think im to immature to handle myself." from this, he looked at the situation he was in and then yelled back,"ok, maybe you have a point there."

She laughed, the first time he had seen her laugh through out this entire ordeal, and he smiled, the true smile he seemed to have forgotton through all these years.

"Fine, ill come." he said. They started walking in the direction of the motel.

Kathy chastized herself for letting her guard down enough to laugh, her real laugh. She hated her real laugh.

"I'm sorry," she said, "I have the most obnoxious laugh in the world."

"ITs a beautiful laugh."

Kathy started to laugh but clamped her hand over her mouth to stop the horrid sound.

"Me and Jordan locked the doors," Marlene explained.

"Good," Kathy said, "I hope there's food in the kitchen still. Did you check there?"

Marlene shook her head, "we haven't gotten that far."

"Alright, me and Slade will check it out then," Kathy said, "hopefully theres something there, if not theres got to be a vending machine in the halls or something."

When Kathy and Slade left, Marlene turned to Jordan, her nerves still frazzled.

"I don't understand him at all!" She practically growled.

Jordan nodded. "Me either. Did he hurt you?" He stepped toward her, checking her over.

"I'm fine, I just-" Marlene paused, thinking. "There's something odd about him, isn't there?"

"Like what?"

"I'm not sure," she said, and glanced around the room to make sure they were truely alone. "But we're going to find out."
