I smiled as I looked myself over in the mirror. I really was looking foreward to this after all the stress everyone has had. I met up with Sara, Alice, and Kate outside of the great hall and we waited for the guys.

"Hey Sara, I can't remember, did you ever get a date?" I asked, trying to sound nice. She smiled at me.

"Maybe..." She winked at me and I laughed.

"Can't wait to see the lucky guy." Just then Calder, Jesse, Sedry and...Adam came out. I looked at Sara and she smiled, turning a dark shade of pink. I laughed.

Kate

I turned to face the boys, feeling very nervous. The silky dress brushed against my body and my hair, now framing my face in dark ringlets, kept brushing against my cheeks and I had to resist the urge to sweep it behind my ears. As Jesse stepped forwards, I felt as though we were the only two in the room and my heart beat faster and faster as I waited for him to greet me, to say something, anything.

"You look beautiful," Jesse said at last and I smiled in relief.

Calder watched Alice with wide eyes, self conciously she looked down at her dress, "what's wrong?" Her hands started fidigiting around with all the hems on it. Calder took them into his, making it impossible to fidget.

"It matches your eyes," he said softly.

Alice felt her eyes widened, she hadn't realized it was. "It is?"

He kissed her forehead, "yes."

Alice smiled and they walked to the great hall.

Sara and Adam were hesitant as their arms intertwined. Sara was sure he could feel her heart beat through her arm, and possibly even hear it...she wondered what he was thinking.

"You look lovely," he commented quietly.

"Thank you. You look...amazing," it had taken her a minute to find a decent word, and even the one she had used wasn't good enough, in her opinion.

"Would you like to dance?" Adam asked hesitantly.

"Of course," Bella answered. She was glad Adam was so tall for his age, or dancing with him would've been quite awkward.

***hehe, I hope Adam gets on soon***

Jesse held Kates hand and led her into the Great Hall. Violins were playing a soft melody. Most of the school hadn't shown up yet so it was pretty empty. The size of the Hall made it seem like a stadium. A violin whizzed by playing even though no one was holding it.
"Would you like to dance?" Jesse asked Kate whose eyes sparkled.

Kate

"Yes," I replied. Jesse led me onto the dance floor and placed a hand on my waist, our bodies pressed so close together that our breaths mingled to form one and when we spoke, I could not be sure if the words had issued from his mouth or mine. It didn't matter. What mattered was that we traced our graceful path across the floor and all the while, our eyes hung on each other and the music beat through our ears, accompanied by the pounding of our hearts.

"You're a good dancer," I stated with a warm smile.

"Would you like to get a drink?" He asked. I nodded and our feet ceased their movement but his hands hung there, around my waist and he leaned closer, his breath warm on my face as his lips brushed against my own.

Adam felt his stomach working its way up his throat. He felt so lighthaded, as if he could pass out at any moment. His feelings, barely contained, were making it harder to concetrate on the dance.

"Are you alright, Adam?" Bella asked.

"Uhh, yeah. Do you wanna get something to drink?"

"Sure." They slipped from the dancefloor. Encounteringonly a few students made the trip to the refreshment table rather quiet.

"So, how have you been feeling?"

"Fine I guess, wish i could remeber what happened to me though."

Sara was having a great time with Adam. She actually felt like she belonged with someone for once; that seh wasn't just another slytherin. Of course, at such a great time in her life, it only makes sense that everything should suddenly fall apart.

She was standing near the drink table with Adam, talking like she normally would. Suddenly, the room began spinning uncontrollably.

"Adam, I'm not feeling too well."

"You just said..."

"I know! Something's wrong..." Sara took a deep breath, trying to stop the spinning. She tried to take a step, and fell to her knees.

"Sara!" Adam exclaimed, kneeling beside her. "Sara, it's goign to be ok."

"No...I'm afraid it's not." Her voice had changed suddenly. "Adam, it's almost got me. You have to do something." She was losing control of her free will slowly, and her hands were moving towards Adam's throat of their own accord. She fought the unusual urge to reach up and strangle him.

"No, Sara, you can stop it," Adam argued, his face rather close to hers. Tears were streaming down her face uncontrollably, and she grabbed the collar of his shirt. He jumped, expecting the hand to grab her throat.

"Adam..I don't want to hurt people," she cried.

I gasped as I saw Sara fall. I rushed over there as fast as I could.

"Adam..I don't want to hurt people." I heard her cry.

"What's going on?" I shouted. Adam muttered it to me, still focusing on Bella's eyes.

"Come on Sara!" I encouraged helplessly from behind. I felt like I could do nothing and I hated the feeling. I wanted to cry and I also wanted to slap myself for feeling like I would break when my friend was hurt. 'This is why it sucks to have friends....you have to care about them' I said to myself. I looked at Sara's face.

"I'm sorry." I said but no one was paying attention or could hear me when I was so quiet. "I hope everything goes ok for you." I turned away and walked all the way back to the common room and sat on the edge of my bed. I just didn't care anymore. I started to cry.

"You can't give in, it can't take you," Adam pleaded. Hi mind raced with information. Things the creature had left behind. "It's just a whisper, Bella, he's a whisper."

"I am not a whisper," her eyes gleamed red, vengance swimming in them.

"You are, you died a long time ago. Looking for something you could never find."

"I am eternal!" Bella thrashed away from Adam, "You cannot stop me!"

"Merlin, it's time to move on." Adam rested his hand onBella's shoulder, "Let her go, move on." Very few people had noticed Bella and Adam, the music had muffled their voices and most students were facing the band.

"I-I'm afraid," the red gleam was gone, Merlin was loosing his hold.

"You dont need to be afraid, you've done a lot of good things. Just move on, let the living live."

The pain that was shooting through Sara was still unbearable. She could hear Adam, talking to the person who had taken over her body. She was in the back of her mind, a dark, dust filled corner, while Merlin took over. Suddenly it hit her; Merlin, the greatest wizard of all time, was in her mind. Merlin, the greatest wizard of all time, was also afraid of death.

There was a moment when Merlin began to fade, almost as if he didn't want to be there. Sara took this chance and dove foreward, pushing his essence backwards, trying to regain conrol over her body. Merlin was fighting her still, but he seemed half-hearted in his attempts, as if he may give up at any time. Adam continued to speak.

"You've done a lot of good things," he repeated, emphasizing. "You are remembered as one of the greatest wizards of all time. Don't ruin that image just because you're afraid. Think of this as just another great adventure." Merlin seemed to ponder this for a moment, and then began to fade away. Sara was in control of her body again, for good this time. She was unbelievably tired, but managed to open her eyes.

"Are you ok?" Sara smiled at Adam, her energy rushing back to her.

"I'm fine. Let's dance."

*Fine, fine... but dont get mad if it sucks.*

Calder looked over at Alice, who looked as if she was going to scream. He grabbed her, swung her around, and brought her up to his face in a quick kiss.

"You look to stressed. We need to have some fun!" said Calder, wanting no more than to spend time with Alice, alone or in public, it didnt matter.

She nodded, smiling, and they sprited to the dance floor. It was a slow song, but they didnt care as they danced together enjoying every minuted of it. At one point, Calder even tripped himself with his horrendous 'Moves'.

Alice had just laughed and jumped on top of him. Eventually, everyone made there way out to the dance floor. Sara and Adam, Kate and Jesse, and so on. Soon Calder ushered Alice off the dance floor to get a quick break.

Alice stood on her toes, and gave Calder a quick kiss. He smiled as they went over to get some punch.

Alice twirled around all by herself while she waited for Calder to come back, she did feel awfuly tense, but everything seemed perfect again. When Calder returned she stopped spinning only long enough to take the glass of punch from him and then his now free hand. She drank as they danced finally in time with the music.

Alice had chosen the wront pair of shoes to wear, her feet were hurting beyond belief. She excused herself for a moment to go hide them, only to return to the dance floor.

"What was that about?" Calder asked.

"Shoes hurt my feet," Alice said, "so I took them off," she shrugged, things like this weren't uncommon in her hometown, back in the states. She almsot said that out loud, but wasn't sure about how the gang would feel about her being a yank.
