"Be careful," I warned in a hushed voice. "He doesn't need that wand for magic."

"Shouldn't we get a teacher?" Calder asked.

"How about Hagrid?" Alice suggested as Sara continued her attempt to soothe the boy. I nodded slightly before bending down beside Adam and laying my hand on his arm. His head swivelled at an ipossible speed and his eyes pierced through my own.

"Don't worry, we're going to help you through this," Lindsay promised.

Alice fought back tears the entire way to Hagrid's house. She couldn't believe that this was happening to Adam, her Adam. He was like her little brother, but so much better. Her real little brother would be two years younger than Adam, and hadn't shown any signs of magic yet. The lucky little bastardo.

Shaking the anger out of her she focused on Adam. She held his hand tight in hers, trying as hard as she could not to look into his eyes.

Jesse walked with Kate in the middle of the group. He listened to Alice's silent cries. He was surprised with how much Kate cared. He did too but he was shocked. Adam was trembling while holding Alice's hand. He never thought that a young boy could take this. He would have gone completely insane.

Calder knelt next to Alice."Its going to be ok, dont worry Alice, its going to be ok." he kept whispering into her ear. He looked over at Lindsay and Sedry. They were both staring at Adam, hand in hand, tears coming out Slowly from Lindsays eyes.

All the way to Hagrid's hut, Adam shouted and swore at us one minute, completely under the control of some unknown menace, but the next he would be begging us to get away from him and sobbing and telling us how scared he was. I watched with fear as he remained out of control for longer periods of time and for only brief intervals would that frightened little boy break through. Occasionally, he even begged us to release him but we knew that those were the darkest moments; those appeals belonged to some cruel, cunning creature and not our young friend.

"Hagrid!" Alice shouted amongst her tears. "Hagrid!" We all joined in the shouting until the half giant appeared at the door, clutching an ice pack to his side that had yet to heal from the other night's events. He took one look at our group, at Adam struggling under Calder and Sedry's hold and approached hurriedly, wand in hand.

"Wha's goin' on 'ere?" Hagrid boomed with a groan as he crouched down, face to face with Adam.

"They're trying to hurt me," The boy squealed. "That one there threatened me with the Avada Kedavra curse in the common room last night and now her friends are helping her!"

"Adam!" Alice sobbed, turning to face him, "you were there for me when I thought no one else was. Why would I want to hurt you?"

Adam spat at her, and her sobs increased. She realized how far gone he really was. Never letting go of his hand, they entered Hagrid's hut. Adam was so enraged that he tried banging his head against the wall, the table, anything hard. But by the time they got him to stop he had a concussion.

"Madam Pomfrey would be best to handle that," Calder said.

"But if we tell a teacher he'll end up at Saint Mungos!" Lindsay cried.

Alice tried as hard as she could to remember a spell that would help, at least the concussion. And then, it came to her.

"I know a spell!" She said loudly and joyfully, "its an old spell, from like WAY before wands came to America."

"America?" Sedry asked.

Alice waved her hand, "I'll explain later. But I remember it from a book in the library! I memorized it in case I accidently hurt somebody with one of my spells. You know how clumsy I am with my monster of a wand."

"The spell," Kate prompted.

"Oh yeah right!" Alice took a deep breath, "you've heard of the old magic rituals right?" The group nodded, "well its one of those spells."

"No," Calder said immeadiatly, "we'll find another way."

Alice shook her head, "this is the best idea. Even though there is a pretty good chance it will backfire on me, its a healing spell and probably won't hurt."

"Probably?" Calder said.

"Depends on its stregenth, if the healing spell is powerful enough to heal the head wound and drive whatever's inside him out, and it backfired, theres a pretty good chance it'd kill me."

"But-"

"No, Calder, this will work. Help me get him outside."

Calder and Sedry had Adam's hands pinned down as he thrashed helplessly with his feet. Eventually Kate and Lindsay subdued those. Alice framed Adam's face upside down. "Adam, this will hurt, but only for a minute okay?" She didn't expect a responce, "I don't want to hurt you, but this little hurt will stop the big one."

She framed his face again and touched her forehead with his. Using the techniques she'd learned in the book, she opened both of their minds. She pushed her magic into him and started fixing his head.

Pain seared through her, pain she'd never felt before. This was worse than the first time she'd learned the cruciatias curse. Then it had simply ripped through her arm, but this was through her entire body, and soul. She cried out, but kept the connection.

She knew the spell had worked on his concussion, it had worked like most wands from spells, instantly, but she held on trying to force whatever had adam out. But she couldn't hold on anymore. The spell knocked her back a few feet, her head hit the ground hard, but she didn't pay attention. As soon as everything stopped spinning, she stood up and rushed to see if the ancient spell had worked.
I just lost the game.

"They can't get rid of me, foolish girl. Trying to use old magic. They dont know wht old magic is."

Adam rose from the ground, a malicous glint in his eye, he held up a wandless hand, muttering some sort of gibberish.

"Adam?" asked Kate.

"NO!" Adam broke free of the control, "Accio Wand!" his wand flew to his hand, he pointed the tip at his temple. "I wont let you hurt them, I wont!"

"No, Adam!"

"Stop it!" cried Alice.

"Never again!"

You wont do it, you are nothing without me, Nothing!

"I'm everything without you!" He gripped his wand tighter, without another thought, Expeliarmus!

"Expeliarmus!" I heard the word but neither recognised the voice or saw anyone's lips move so I figured it must be the person within Adam. This thought was confirmed when the wand in his hand began to jerk away but Adam gripped it hard, dragging it closer and closer to his temple.

"Don't do it Adam," Lindsay begged.

"Come on, you can fight him, Adam!" Alice declared.

"Please," I begged. "Please don't do this Adam. Give me the wand. Please, Adam."

Whatever Adam was about to do to himself, it wasn't good. She knew she hadn't made whatever was inside Adam go away, but she knew it was weaker.

"Ricteshempra!" Adam shouted at the same time Alice shouted "Reducto!"

Something ugly and gray came out of Adam's head as he was thrown back. The ugly gray thing looked like a deformed and starved child without any hair. Its panic look told them that it wasn't expecting that to work. It quickly scampered away into the forbidden forest.

Then the backlash hit, Adam's and Alice's spells built on a single fixed point and flew back at her. She fell back when it hit her, twice as powerful as the origional spells.

She woke some time later with a strange boy cradeling her head in his lap, and stroking her hair. When he saw her open her eyes he smiled. The smile was full of love, but she didn't reconize the guy, she didn't even know who she was.

"Who are you?" she asked dreirily, "where am I, and for that matter who am I?"

He looked at her with a concerned look on his face. Why couldn't she remember him? He certiantly remembered her.

Everyone was sitting around, waiting for Alice to wake up. When she did she started to ask odd questions.

"Who are you? Where am I, and for that matter who am I?" She asked. She sat up and Calder look concerned.

"You're Alice." He said. "Remember? I'm Calder. And that's Kate, Sedry, Lindsay...you don't remember?" She shook her head and looked around at us.

"Alice, you better not be playing some joke on us. I will so kick your Gryffindor--" I started to say but she cut me off.

"I really don't know what you're talking about." She sounded so scared.

"Oh crap. This isn't good." I said. I extended my hand to Alice to help her up, but she just looked at me.

"I'm your friend, trust me." She seemed uneasy but took my hand and I got her to her feet. Calder put his arm around her and I turned around to face everyone. "What are we gonna do?"
"After it happened I thought that I'd just try to live as normally as possible and bury it, but things like that don't stay buried. I didn't think it would, but it taints your whole life."

"Take her to Madam Pomfrey of course," Hagrid decided. "Come along now and I'll explain everything to the head."

"Madam Pomfrey?" Alice whimpered, her face showing no recognition of the name.

"She'll be able to give you your memory back," I assured her with a soothing smile as I followed a few steps behind with Jesse and a rather pale Adam.

"And you're my friend too?" Alice asked.

"Yes," Lindsay agreed. "We're all your friends."

Alice looked around the odd group, and she caught sight of a slightly smaller boy, who looked incredibuly pale, "are you alright-?"

"Adam, because of you."

"Because of me? What did I do?"

The rest of the group started to tell her what happened, and she got more and more confused with each word they said.

When they finished, Alice felt a little faint, "but-but how did I know how to do that?"

The boy who called himself Calder gently poked her and directed her view to a giant castle, "this is Hogwarts, its a school where people like us-"

"People like us?"

"Witches and Wizards," the boy called Sedry explained.

"Its where we go to school, where we learn stuff like that. Oh hell did anybody grab her wand?"

"I've got it," the boy standing next to the really pale boy said.

Alice wanted to ask so many more questions, like what was a wand, why Calder was holding her like he was, But she didn't want to annoy them, if they were her friends she didn't want them to abondon her, and she had the sickening feeling in her gut that that used to happen a lot, and why did they have a different accent than her?
I just lost the game.

Adam clutched his wand tightly, making a rash and stupid decision. He slinked away into the forest while the others were focsed on Alice. He couldn't let her suffer for his weakness. Waht ever that thing was, it was in the firest and Adam wouldn't stop unitl he had destroyed it.

I'm coming for you, I wont let you hurt anyone else.

SARABELLA~

Sara watched Adam slip away from teh group, heading towards the shadows of the forest. She looked over at Alice and the others, and debated whether or not to stay with them. She's got the rest of them, Sara decided, slipping towards Adam silently; she'll be fine.
