Kate

"Hey there," I called as we entered the tavern and then I stood awkwardly in the doorway as the couples exchanged their greetings.

"Well I'll see you guys later," Jesse declared, his blue eyes darting towards the door.

"You're leaving?" Sara asked.

"Why not stay for a drink and tell us about this girl?" Sedry suggested with a sly wink.

"Girl?" I echoed. "You asked someone to the dance?" I felt my heart drop to the bottom of my stomach. Jesse had a partner? Not that he wasn't good looking, I mean he was with those clear, blue eyes and that handsome smile, but was I to be the only person without someone to dance with, without someone to talk with?

"I..." Jesse studdered when he saw Kate. His face blushed.
"Oh, You're embarassed. Aren't you?" Sedry asked him.
"I most certainly am not embarassed!" Jesse declared.
"Then who is it?" Calder asked leaning forward a little.
"It's Kate. I was going to ask Kate to the dance," Jesse said. He hung his head down. Kate was slightly taken back. Calder and Sedry stood there with smiles on their faces. They both turned to Kate who had her mouth open in shock.
"Well? Are you gonna go with him?" Sedry asked her.

Adam was so confused the next day. All the Hufflepuffs were talking about the Slytherin girl who snuck into the Dormitories and tried to perform the Killing Curse on Adam. It sounded alittle farfetched to begin with, but his memories were gone from the night before.

"Maybe you're repressing them already, She looked demented anyway." One of his classmates told him.

"So weird," Adam muttered. He finished breakfast and decided to wander the grounds for a bit. Most of the students were at Hogsmeade anyway, making it a nice quite day. He pondered on the previous night events, wondering what had happened.

Kate

"Well are you gonna go with him?" Sedry asked. I stared ahead of me in shock. Someone had asked me to the dance? Jesse had asked me to the dance? Slowly, I smiled and turned to Sedry.

"He hasn't asked me yet," I declared in a soft, thoughtful tone.

"Go on then, ask her," Calder prompted.

"Will you go to the dance with me?" Jesse mumbled. I turned around and was glad that his eyes were still cast down because I knew my own would betray my answer.

"Yes," I said. "Yes, of course I will!"

Half an hour later all three of the girls were walking back with their boxes. When Alice spotted Calder she raced over, stood on her tip toes and kissed his cheek.

"We need to get back to Hogwarts now," Sara said after looking at her watch.

"Okay," Calder said, wrapping his arm around Alice, forcing her to keep pace with him. She knew she was hyper enough to bolt back to Hogwarts faster than they could get out of Hogsmead.

Jesse's smile crept over his face again. He was so elated that Kate agreed to go to the dance. He pulled the flowers from behind his back.
"These are for you. I thought that if you said yes, that I would be prepared," Jesse said with a smile. He never did well on an event like this but Kate made him happy.
"These are beautiful," she said smelling them. "How did you arange them like this?"
"My mother taught me Ikibana before she died. It means to arange flowers to art," Jesse replied. "I hope you like them."

Adam watched the others climbing back towards Hogwarts, He felt a tickle in the back of his mind. He was levitating a few empty boxes for practice when his eyes met Kate's. They were locked, the boxes hit the ground and memories started flodding back to him.

In terror Adam ran for the lake, trying to understand what was happening to him. Trying to remeber why he did all those things he remebered and how did he know how to perform the Imperious Curse!

What's happening to me? Adam stared out into the lake as the Giant squid made a minor apperance.

Kate

I was happily walking back towards hogwarts with the others, my right hand held gently by Jesse and my left clutching the flowers when it happened. I looked up and my eyes met with Adam's and I began to tremble. For a moment he stared at me, his face contorted in horror and then he turned and ran.

"Kate?" Jesse sounded worried.

"It's him! He's the one who did it, he..." Of course I couldn't say it but I hurried after Adam and the others followed.

"Did what, Kate?" Sara prompted.

"You know all these strange events lately?" I asked.

"Are you saying that Adam's responsible for all of that? But I thought it was Garret." I nodded my head violently.

"Why didn't you say earlier?" Calder demanded.

"What's going on?" Jesse huffed as he ran with the others.
"I don't know. Apparently it wasn't Garrett who was doing everything," Calder said. The group was running after Adam. They stopped at the lake and saw Adam on the shore. He too was trembling.

When we caught up to Adam I understood what was going on.

"You...you made Garret do that?" I asked Adam. He avioded my eyes, but nodded. I suddenly felt horrible.

"I knew it." I said quietly. "I knew it! He couldn't have been so cruel!" I was screaming at Adam now, not intentionally, but I was. "I've known him since I was 7 and I thought he could do that? I can't believe myself!" I grabbed Adam's colar and pulled him off his feet. "And you! You made him try and kill us all! After we excepted you! And you've ruined his life! How could you do that?" I threw him down on the ground and pulled my wand on him.

Adam trembled on the ground, the voice was bellowing in his ear, telling him exactly what to do, but he fought.

"Get out get out! I dont want to! No No NO NO NO NOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!" Lindsay seemed taken aback, as did the others. "I wont I wont I wont!" Adam curled his knees to his face, rocking back and forth.

"Do it do it do it. Do it Lindsay. Do it. Dont let him come back. Don't let him come back. Free me...please." he continued to rock.

Kate

"Wait!" I stepped in front of Lindsay and pushed her wand arm down before approaching Adam.

"Nooo. Get back! Get back, stay back!" The boy commanded, clutching his knees to his chest so tightly that his hands were going white.

"Who is it Adam? Who's trying to control you?" I asked softly.

"Please go away. Please. I don't want to hurt you..." He looked up at me with bright, feverish eyes, his lips drawn back in a half smirk as he slowly raised his arm.

Jesse caught up with the others. He was never a good runner. He saw Adam raising his arm. It looked like he had a wand and was pointing it at Kate. Jesse drew his wand.
"Expeliarmus!" Jesse shouted.

Jesse caught Adam's wand and Clader and Sedry held him down. I looked around, really confused, and eased back over to Adam.

"Who is doing this Adam?" My voice was shaking and I wanted to punch the kid in the nose, but I tried to control myself. "Adam, look at me." I moved his face to look into my eyes, they were full of hate and rage. I fell back and started to cry, not sure why, but tears were pouring down my face. Kate and Sara ran to my side. I yanked on Kate's sleeve.

"We have to stop this, now! We have to help Adam."

"I know. I know." She said.

"What do you expect us to do?" Alice asked, looking around and seeming nearly as confused as I was. Adam was spazzing out again, rocking back and forth on the ground and arguing quietly with himself.

"No...I won't do it...no no no NO NO!" he was shouting and pulling at his hair.

"We can't discuss this with him screaming like that," Jesse pointed out, glaring down at Adam. I bent down next to him, looking straight into his green eyes.

"Adam, Adam, listen to me." I said soothingly. He looked straight into my eyes, and for a moment everything was completely silent. "Adam, you need to calm down. You can fight this, I know you can. You're strong enough; just calm down."
