"I'd love to Alice...but...I don't know if I can...I'm kinda busy." I said.

"With what?" Alice asked.

"Just...stuff."

"What's going on with you Lindsay. It's like you don't like hanging with us anymore."

"It's not that it's just...I'm trying to get good marks and..." I couldn't think of and explanation for it. Just then, Sedry came up.
___________________________________________________________________

Sedry walked up to Alice, Lindsay, and Calder.

"Hey guys!" He said smiling.

"I need to go. Now." Lindsay said, keeping her eyes fixed on something. Sedry saw the guy that had come up to him and Alice yesterday.

"Hey Alice, that's..." he started.

"yeah, I know." she said.

"Guys, I have to go." Lindsay said, starting to walk away. Sedry grabbed her arm.

"Who is he?" he said

"Sedry..."

"Who is he?" he said again.

"Garret Thompsen." Lindsay muttered.

"What does he want?" Calder asked.

"He's coming closer. He's gonna kill me." She said with a lot of fear in her voice. Then Garret looked at her with an angry look.

"Lindsay!" He called. She cursed and broke out of Sedry's grip and ran. Garret pulled his wand out and pointed it at her.
"After it happened I thought that I'd just try to live as normally as possible and bury it, but things like that don't stay buried. I didn't think it would, but it taints your whole life."

"My desires were bestial, obviously." -Jeffery Dahmer.

Alice's wand was out quicker and she disarmed him. "No," she said sternly, as if she was talking to a three year old who had picked up something they weren't supposed to.

"Did you just say 'no' to me little girl?"

He towered over her and Alice swallowed, he scared her. Calder pulled out his wand and pointed it at Garret.

"Leave her alone," he said.

"What did you say?" he said towering over him, but Calder didn't recoil.

"I said 'leave her alone'."

Garret grabbed his wand away from Alice and glared at her, not taking Calder's warning to heart.

Alice couldn't help but tremble, he was the only one that could scare her, something he realized.

"What's your name little girl?"

Alice couldn't stop trembeling now, she was shaking out wardly. "A-A-Alice Johnson."

Garret took a step back and pointed his wand at her, but before he could utter his spell she had hers out and-out of pure fear-said "Reducto!"

Her spell missed by inches but it was enough to knock him flat on his back.

Calder smiled, "I tried to warn you." Alice smiled at him, he was getting some nerve. Sedry gawked at the power of her reducto.

"Bloody Hell ALice!" he said, how did you do that?"

Alice shrugged, "I always could." Her trembeling slowed a bit which she was grateful for, she'd need a steady hand next week for the Quidditch match.
I just lost the game.

Thanks Kel. It's good to have you with us again and it's only normal that you want your character played how you see him so feel free to correct us on his personality.

Drat. I was going to post but I have to go into town so it will have to wait until this afternoon.

*Edit* Back...

Kate

I've never been particularly interested in watching sport and every Quidditch match is just a reminder that I was not chosen for the team, despite being brilliant on a broomstick. I'd have made a great chaser.

I went to the match anyway, watched the Slytherin seeker slip from the broom and crumble on the floor and then headed back inside. With no particular destiny in mind, I found myself outside the common room and headed in. I grabbed my broom from beside my bed and headed towards the grounds

"Woah...what'd I miss?" Sarabella commented as she joined the group. Garret had just been blasted across the room by Alice's abnormally long wand.

"He was being a butt."

"Is that something new?"

"Nope. But Alice decided to do somethign about it," Sedry commented. Sarabella looked the Griffindors up and down in utter disgust. She had been raised to hate them all; but Lindsay was one of her best friends, and she wasn't going to stop hanging out with her for this.

"Hey, hows your arm?" Linds asked.

"Better; I'm totally ready for the rematch!"

"We're going to kick your arse!" a passing Ravenclaw laughed.

"Yeah, don't fall of your broom!" another snickered.

"You little-" Sarabella turned around, wand out, a hex on the tip of her tongue, but Linds and Sedry both grabbed one of her arms.

"Don't, Sara, they're not worth it."

"Yeah, use that as fuel in the match," Sedry agreed.

Jesse sat in the Ravenclaw stands. He was depressed because the team had mocked him from the try-outs saying that he was too weak to be on the field. If they had given him one chance he would have shown them what a Seeker he could be. Jesse watched the players get onto the field. He liked Quidditch as much as anyone so he couldn't wait to for the match. He looked at his watch.
"Ten minutes," he muttered to himself. He took out his wand and stared at it. He then turned his head and saw more Ravenclaw students walking up the long flight of stairs.

Alice saw Jesse looking rather depressed and decided to cheer him up. She walked along the hall to where he was, leaving everyone behind her looking bewildered.

She didn't know Jesse too well but she could tell when somebody was depressed, "hey Jesse," she said not expecting him to remeber her name.

"Oh, hey Alice."

"You're looking down, whats wrong?"

"Nothing."

Alice shrugged and looked at him, "hey wanna help me warm up for Quidditch practice? I really need to warm up."

"Um... sure."
I just lost the game.

It seemed I wasn't the only student eager to be on a broom. Soon, Alice and a Ravenclaw I recognised as Jesse Nally, had taken to the air. I watched them hurtle towards the ground and then pull up millimetres from the grass before rising again to repeat their trick or chase each other round the clouds.

With a lonely, wistful smile, I turned away and began to fly in tight circles. As my broom built up momentum, I carefully dragged myself into a crouched position and then stood up. My amount of control over the broom was greatly diminished but I could feel the wind in my hair and it was a great view.

I closed my eyes and took a deep breath of fresh air when suddenly someone collided with my broom. My left foot slipped and I wobbled. I opened my eyes, thinking I was about to fall when I felt a hand catch hold of my arm.

"Sorry about that," Alice grinned, "I didn't see you there." Carefully she lowered me back onto my broom.

"Alice, she's a Slytherin!" Jesse warned as he caught up and hovered beside her.

"So? Whats that got to do with it?"

"Aren't you a third year?" She asked.

"Aye, I am."

"Then you should know, Gryfondors and Slytherins hate each other."

Alice dropped her gaze, "I don't hate people I don't know, and then they have to be a real jerk before I do. And," she turned to Jesse, "she was about to fall off her broom, evein if I hated her I wouldn't let her do that." She regained her smile, "wanna warm up with us?"
I just lost the game.

I looked back at Alice in surprise.

"I... I don't think I should," I sighed, glancing away.

"Why not?" Alice asked.

"Well it's hard enough trying to keep the other Slytherins from bothering Lindsay and Sedry. If I'm seen with you and Jesse, they'll not listen to me any more," I replied. Alice blinked and studied me again.

"Do you know everyone at Hogwarts?" Jesse asked. "Only I don't know your name but you know mine." The hostile tone seemed to have drained from his voice and Alice beamed at him as if it were some great achievement.

"I'm Kate," I replied.

"Well, Kate, I see no reason you shouldn't join us. You seemed to be flying really well until we interrupted you so come show us what else you can do," Alice insisted and, against my better judgement, I followed them.

They ended up moving so fast that even if somebody had come onto the feilds they wouldn't be able to tell who was on it. They flew for hours, just spinning around doing loops and dives.

Then it started to rain, "we should go inside!" Jesse shouted over the pooring rain, "its coming down pretty hard!"

"You two go," Alice said, "I've got a little more energy I need to blow off!"

"Alright!" Jesse and Kate flew off.

Several hours later in the common room Sedry and Calder were still waiting for Alice, why was she taking so long? Jesse said that she had a little more energy to burn off, but not a lot.

The common room door opened and Alice came stumbeling in, soaked to the bone. She wasn't wearing her usual dazed expression but one filled with pain and fear.

"Alice! What happened?"

"I-I was out on the feild and saw Garret... he-he hexed me and I fell off my broom. I was stuck out there for-" she fainted.
I just lost the game.

Jesse heard a thud and many gasps. He didn't know what happened so he ran down down the stairs past the statue of their house founder. He pushed his way through a few kids and saw Alice laying there near the portrait hole.
"Oh no," Jesse said. He ran over to her and felt her pulse. She was really cold. Her pulse was slow too. He picked her up in his arms and ran out of the room leaving the students looking aghast. He ran all the way to the hospital.
"So, I was thinking, I've always wanted to ride a TaunTaun."
"Ummmm....I asked you answer the math problem on the board."
"No you didn't."
"Yes I did."
"Yeah well, that's your opinion."...............A conversation between my teacher and I.

The only thing that Calder saw was Alice in a blur, but she wasnt running, she was being carried by a boy. I think his name was Jesse. In a split second i caught up to him, considering he was being weighed down by Alice.

"What happened?" Calder yelled to Jesse, every one could here the grief and fright etched in his voice.

"Garret hexed her off of her broom while she was flying, she's been out there for hours and no one new!"

At hearing this, Calder slowed down,"Tell me later if she was ok. I'll be back."

Anger filled every blood cell in Calders body. Alice had been a true friend to anyone who wished it, and he was not going to take this lying down. The only reason Alice hurt him in the first place was out of self defense, and now he would find him.

____________________________________________________________

About a half hour later, Calder had found him in the great hall.

"HEY!" Calder yelled after Garret,"You think your so tough cause you jynxed a 3rd year while she was riding her broomstick? You're to pathetic for me to even comprihend!"

"Wanna say that again?"Garret spat. All of the little 'henchmen' snickered at that remark.

"I said.... YOUR PATHETIC!!" Anger was building up inside Calder just waiting to burst, and he had the perfect curse to be used, one an old professor by the name of Severous Snape had made himself.

"He did what?" I demanded, jumping to my feet and pulling out my own wand. Calder, a Gryffindor in his fourth year, opened his mouth as if to call out a curse but then shut it again as a familiar voice shouted across the hall.

"What's going on?" The Ravenclaw head boy, Xander Nelson, demanded, his voice magically amplified. He approached the group slowly, a tanned hand reaching inside his robes for his wand.

"This jerk hexed a third year from her broom," Calder explained in a cold, hard voice, his wand still raised.

"Oh? Then there's only one way to sort this," Xander decided, running his free hand through his black, spiky hair.

"And what's that? Report me?" Garret snickered but Xander's smile did not falter.

"No. With a duel. I take it you're also taking part?" Xander turned to me and I glanced down at the wand in my hand.

"Right," I replied.

"Then we need another Gryffindor to even the odds," Xander decided.

"Oh but... I'm not helping Garret..." I hesitated but forged on, "I'm fighting with Calder." A gasp echoed around the room and even Calder looked surprised.

*I am baaaack*

Sedry followed after Calder with a fury equal to that of the one gleaming n his fellow gryffindor's eyes. He pushed by the crowd to see Kate and Calder standing at one end, with the one named Garret and another slytherin on the other side.

Before Calder or anyone could stop him, Sedry let a strong fist fly into Garret's face, allowing blood to fly across the hall as his nose bent out of shape.

"First you mess with Lindsay! Then you mess with Alice!" He hissed. "I am going to put you through pain that you never thought could be done without a wand!"

A blue light blasted Sedry back. One of the sixth year Slytherin held his wand at Sedry's throat as he helped Garret to his feet. Sedry got up, ready to fight again.

"Stop!" Calder called. Sedry, his wand, halfway out, looked at Calder, dumbfounded.

"We aren't like them!" he said. "We are settling it with a duel. Please, no more."

"What the bloody hell is going on?" Sarabella snapped, running out of the common room with a large group of Slytherins.

"Garett hexed some Griffindor and she fell of her broom. A bunch of other blood-traitors are trying to scare him for it." A random student answered.

"Who? WHich Griffindor?"

"Alice, I think. WHy?"

"Oh crud." Sarabella sighed, running towards the Hostpital Wing. Before she could get there, however, she ran into the duel. Kate was fighting alongside a Griffindor, against Garett!

"Sarabella! Team with me!" Garett called from where he stood.

"Um..." She paused, knowing what she wanted to do, but not being sure of whether or not to do it. She had a sudden, cruel idea. It fit a Slytherin perfectly. "Alright." She walked over to his side, noticing all the dirty looks she was given as she did so.
