Kailani climbed to her feet and walked forward a few steps before she remembered that Raiana had told her to stay here. She couldn't just leave them. Everyone needed to band together to defeat It. She reached for her magic and called out. If she couldn't be there in person she could still talk to Raiana and make sure the others were okay.

'Raiana, what is happening?'

'You shouldn't be using magic! You need to rest, we have got It covered' Raiana replied obviously irritated.

'I will stay where i am but we are the only two left alive who have fought It before, i am helping' Kailani replied, 'wether you like it or not'

She felt some amusment coming from Raiana, followed by some panic and fear.

'Raiana! Talk to me, what's gong on?'

The dead priest stepped forward, towards the group. He chuckled.

"So, dragon, we meet again. Where is your little dryad friend? Dead?"

"Wouldn't you like that." Raiana snarled, showing her gleaming white fangs.

"Raiana! Whats going on!?" Kailani's voice sounded in her mind.

Raiana didnt bother to answer. Instead, she sent a mental image to her friend. She felt Kailani withdraw from her mind.

"Why are you here?" Raiana asked the priest. She had to buy the others time.

"Why, you dont know? You, Raiana, of all people should know." he chuckled again.

"Lethero..." Raiana said, at a loss for words.

"Just tell me how to kill it." Lethero said. He never took his eyes off the dead priest.

"Its not that easy..." Raiana said.

"Nothing ever is." Lethero said, a grim smile on his face. Raiana gave a small chuckle. She turned her attention back to the priest.

Nicarga stood next to Syden and Yera. Yera was clinging to Syden's neck and Syden and Nicarga seemed to growl at the priest.

"NIcarga, take Yera and get out of here." Syden said.

"No, they need me to help get rid of him." Yera said. Syden sighed, they just might need her.

"Ah, Lethero, long time no see," the dead priest said.

"Hello Fredkras," Lethero answered.

"Lethero, you know this priest?" Raiana asked.

"Unfortunetly, yes. He killed my father."

Raiana's lips curled back in a half sneer, half snarl.

"All the better." she growled.

Lethero looked at her. "Raiana, you are the only one who knows how to destroy him, besides Kailani, and she's withdrawn from my mind. How do we kill him?"

Raiana looked down at Lethero. "There is only one way. I've seen it done once, and i had hoped i would never have to see it again."

"What has to be done?" Lethero asked impatiently. The dead priest was comming closer. Raiana felt a cold wind rush over her gleaming silver scales, and shivered involuntairly. It was not a cold chill, but the chill of...death.

Raiana sighed and cast a longing glance around the large, mixmatched pack.

"Raiana!" Kailani's voice shouted in her mind. Somehow, her friend had broken through the shield she had cast around her mind.

"Kailani..."

"Don't do it Raiana. Please, dont." Kailani said desperatly.

"Try not to miss me too much." Raiana said, a hint of grim amusement in her words. Before Kailani could teleport to her, Raiana turned to Lethero. She looked into his eyes, and instantly he knew what she was going to do.

"It costs the greatest sacrifice from a mortal to kill an immortal." Raiana said. With that, she shifted forms and ran straight into the priest.

"What are you doing!?' the dead priest demanded, a fearful edge to his voice.

"Doing what should've been done long ago!" Raiana shouted. She worked her magic, and a silver fire erupted from her mouth. Lightning, unlike any Lethero had ever seen, streaked from the sky and hit the priest. He let out a scream and vanished. Raiana sank to the ground, barley breathing.

Lethero ran to her side. Kailani appeared, only moments too late. Raiana looked up and smiled warily.

"Raiana..." Lethero said. Kailani echoed him.

With the last of her strength, Raiana lifted her hands and lay them on both Kailani an Lethero's forheads. They felt a strange power enter their bodies.

"Stay in touch." Raiana said. Then she was gone.

*srry to steal the spotlight from anyone. but...another twist in the story could be some of the mythical creatures going rebel? i dunno...but i will now be taking Alje's character and playing her. Also, Lethero and Kailani now have the power to communicate with Raiana, even tho shes dead.*

*An interesting twist, even though it is a sad one :( *

Kailani could hardly breath. She turned from Raiana as grief overwhelmed her. She thought about what had happened. Raiana had been her friend for five years, fighting the priest the first time around and always being with Kailani when she needed her most. How was she going to live without her?

Wiping a tear from her eye she turned around and placed a hand on Raiana's body. She felt the power still within her, simmering and fading.

Lethero steppped forward.

'What are you doing?'

I am going to give her the burial i know she would want. i won't be gone long.' She turned to Lethero, looking in his grief riden eyes. 'Stay in touch...' she wispered, echoing Raiana's words and then she was gone, teleporting herself and Raiana to JAwHallow where Kailani would bury Raiana and finally speak to the council of Dryads.

Lethero still couldn't believe what happened. He looked where Raiana once stood."Lethero," Nicarga said coming from behind, "it ain't your fault remember that."

"I know," Lethero said wearily.

"I know, but no matter what = never think this is your fault. Raiana chose what she had to do for the good of all of us."

Slowly Georgia roused herself, her wounds healed remarkably fast. Perhaps it was just because the preist had died.

Syden sighed and slowly relaxed his protective grip on Yera. He remembered what Yera had said about needing to stay to get rid of the priest, and though he felt guilty for thinking it, he was glad it was Riana who had gotten rid of this one priest for them and not Yera. He didn't dare express his thoughts, though. He shifted into human form, which seemed to calm Yera a little, and walked over to Lethero.

Alje stared sorrowfully at the place where Raiana had died. Her dark green eyes held not the look of bitter sorrow like Kailani, but the sorrow of loss, of acceptance. She understood what Raiana had done and aknoledged that sacrifice. Still, she could not help feeling a small pang of regret.

"You promised you would teach me." Alje whispered to the sky. 'You promised to help me learn. I needed you."

Alje turned and was about to go back to the others when a quiet voice sounded in her mind. Alje was taken by surprise and her eyes darted about, looking for who had spoken.

"Don't bother looking," the voice said. It was amused, but sad. It took Alje a moment to realize it was Raiana's voice.
"You wont be able to see me."

"Raiana?" Alje called out with her mind.

"You have a powerful gift, especially for one so young. I should have seen it before..."

"Raiana! I thought you were dead!" Alje said, the faint, dying spark of hope catching light.

"And so i am. But you, young one, have an incredible power, a power very few alive have. I, too, had that power, but i very rarely used it. You, Alje, can communicate with the dead."

Alje was taken aback. "But how...? she asked.

"I do not know. Usually, it is passed down through the generations, but you are not related to me, of that i'm sure. Strange...i knew of no other dragons possesed that power..." the voice trailed off.

"Can you still teach me magic?" Alje asked, the spark of hope blazing within her soul.

"Yes, young one, i can teach you...but it will not be easy, since i am not there in person to show you. But, you can learn." Raiana said. "But first, i need you to do me a small favor."

"Anything." Alje said obediantly.

"I need you to tell Lethero that he must get the others away from here. Tell him i told you to."

"Why dont you tell him yourself?" Alje asked curiosly. "Did you not pass on your power to him and Kailani?"

"I did, but you still need to earn a place in this pack. And the power dwelling inside both of them is not as strong as the power you hold. You must tell him, and soon."

"I will, i promise."

"Good..." Raiana said. Then she added, "Apprentice."

*Yay! YWS is back up! *hugs**

KAilani appeared in the large tree city, tears streaming down her face and her tribe symbol blazing. The surrounding Dryad's were immediatly on thier feet, bows in hand, eah arrow trained on Kailani and the still form of Raiana.

'I wish to speak to the Elders'

'Who are you to damand such a thing?' one of the Drayds asked stepping forward.

Kailani raised her head, he eyes blazing with anger and grief. She summoned her pwer and released it in a wave of power. It hit the Dryad full on and she was thrown across the clearing and hit a nearby tree.

She looked aroud the clearing at the now frightened Dryads. She raised her head and shouted as loud as she could.

'Where are you? Show yourselves!' She screeched, 'Have you seen what you have done? This is all your fault. Show yourselves!' She continued, gesturing at Raiana.

Kailani jumped as around twenty robed figures appeared in the clearing, encircling her.

'What is you want Kailani?' one asked.

All around the clearing the dryads were gasping and wispering as they realised who Kailani was. Kailani smiled and raised her hand, losening her dagger.

Alje turned and walked over to Lethero, Raiana's words echoing in her mind.

"Tell him to get the others away...and soon."

"Lethero." Alje said, comming to stand beside the were wolf. He turned to look at her.

"Who be you?" he asked. Alje could still see grief in his eyes.

"I am Alje. Raiana's apprentice."

"Raiana is dead. How dare you speak of her like that." Lethero snarled.

"Yes, Raiana is dead. But, like yourself, i posses the power to communicate with her." Alje explained

Lethero stared at her, clearly disbileving.

"Its true. before she died, she promised me she would teach me magic. She still holds that promise, even in death. She told me to tell you to get the others away from here. She did not say why."

"And why should i believe you? Why would she contact you to tell me this when she could have simply contacted me."

"The power you and Kailani both hold is only half the power, since it was split between the two of you. I posses the compleat power, and so it is easier for her to contact me. Raiana told me to tell you to get the others away. it will not be easy..." Alje said, remembering Raiana's words. "But nothing ever is. She says you should be able to handle it, though."

Lethero stared at her, a understanding look in his eyes.

"So be it." he said.

Kailani stood perfectly still in the middle of the clearing, looking around at the Dryads who were barly visably through the rain. There were to many Dryad guards to fight but some seemed to scared to even look at her. Kilani smiled. Atleast they knew her story.

'What is it you want to talk about?' one of the robed Dryad's asked.

'I don't know, tea and biscuits, how nice the weather is and how much i love the new song that the Gnomes came up with' Kailani said, anger and grief bubbling in her voice.

'Kailani, it's not our fault Raiana died.'

'Not your fault? How can you say that. You knew about the priest, you made him! When i found out last time i went out to him and killed him. I thought that would be the end of it, but you had to let the secret of how to make one get to the humans, didn't you? If you hadn't of done that Raiana wouldn't be dead'

Kailani was breathing heavy and she held her dagger tighter.

'Well this ends now' She dived forward, catching a dryad round the neck forcing the dagger up to her throat.

'What do you think you are doing? What kind of barbaric behaviour have you learnt with that pack?' one of the dryads said, reaching for her own dagger.

'That pack happens to be the only family i have left and you will never find better people'

As Kailani stood there, dagger to the Dryads throat a voice echoed in her mind.

'Kailani, calm down and let the girl go, the pack need you'

Kailai froze. If she thought about it, that voice sounded like...
'Raiana?' she shouted out alound. The Dryads looked at each other puzzled.

'The pack need you' the voice repeated.
Kailani pushed the girl from her and reachd down placing a hand on Raiana's body and teleported. As she disapeared she chucked her dagger at the tree closest to her. The Dryads gasped. That meant she had truly left thier familiy. Kailani was back with the pack in seconds. She walked over to Lethero.

'Need my help?'

Alje looked up to see Kailani standing next to her and Lethero. Raiana's body was not far away.

"Let me give her the proper funeral. The funeral she would have wanted." Alje said, going to stand next to Raiana.

"Who are you?" Kailani asked, laying a protective hand on Raiana's shoulder.

"I am Alje. Raiana promised me she would teach me magic, and she still holds that promise, even though she is dead. I too have the power to communicate with her, even in death. She has made me her apprentice."

Kailani took a step back, tears in her eyes. She gestured to Raiana's inert body for Alje to do it.

Alje gently blew fire over Raiana's body and watched as it went up in smoke and flames.

Whe the final embers had died away, Alje turned back to Lethero.

"We must get these creatures out of here. I dont think we have much time."

In their minds echoed Raiana's voice, "No, not much time at all."
