NaNoWriMo 2007

I will most definitely be writing NaNoWriMo '07. I'm so excited! I have this awesome idea and it's gonna be great. But uh. . .word count *shivers*

Don't worry about it. You have an idea, which probably puts you at an advantage over most participants, at least right now.

I want to start now! I'm so anxious that it's driving me crazy...though I know that once November actually starts and a reach a block, I'll wish that it stop. I'm gonna be super super busy! Yay exams!

NaNo must be really fun/awesome/heartbreaking/backbreaking/mendbending. *sigh* In November, though I'll be uber busy with studying and coursework and all, so... No. Maybe if there's a JuNo in July or something, I'll try that.

Hey, is anyone having problems loading up the NaNo site? My computer won't load it at all, and I was wondering if it's just me...

It's probably not just you! I've been getting that all day. The servers are probably down, or they're getting heavy traffic.

See, the thing about NaNo is the first few days of Oct and Nov, the site gets attacked by thousands of people all wanting to hang out on the site, but the server isn't large enough to handle that, so it either loads very slowly, or it doesn't load at all. Eventually, they'll have this taken care of, but for now, you just tough through it. It seems like, every year, they never prepare before Oct 1? Although, I don't think that is really something you can prepare for. #_#

Expect it to be working fine in a week or so XD It'll work before then, but it'll still be outrageously slow.

Oh, that's good then. I was worried that my computer was just not loading it. So how many people here have already started on their outlines? I have, and it looks like it's going to be 5-10k words by itself. At least I won't get stuck now, even if that does seem a bit over the top. I always end up getting stuck in the middle of something or other.

I started mine! I only have seven chapters outlined right now... My outlines are real strange. They're always different depending on what I am working on. For this one, I'm trying to go through once and just get the plot down, then if I have time I'm going to go back through and add more info.

I really need an ending to my novel though... That would help me out a lot. #_#

I've already started "sketching" some of the more important places in the story and the character's biographies are pretty much skeletonized. XD I've got a basic map drawn up and I'm waiting on push-pins and string to map out the journey.

I thought I was being obsessive by starting this early. Maybe not... And I need something to keep me from starting the actual story. Making up a character's past can be just as interesting as the writing itself, I've found. xD And I've done an outline for about seven chapters too. I'm already struggling to fit several different story lines into one chapter. I guess that's the problem with having a lot of main characters.

I've got to finish this homework so I can start my outline.

I've got an outline, some research, and a few random bits.

I want to have a cushion built up because I know I'm going to slack off around my birthday (Nov. 23) and I don't want to suffer too badly for that.

Is that technically cheating? O.O

I hope not, because part of my outline is a couple of random qoutes of dialogue that I thought of while writing it... And I need to do some research on court trials, and stuff. Anyone know where I can find information on past trials, and stuff? =O

But yeah... I think I've built up enough cushion to give me a few days license to slack. I'm hoping I don't use it and just end up writing more than 50k. But I really wish it was Nov. 1st so I could stop staring at that "0 words so far" deal. >.<
