Hey, guys! I'd like to know... is anybody else planning on doing NaNoWriMo this year? I know I am! Though last year I had an idea of where I was going with my story. This year I don't, and I'm rather frightened. I'm doing it, nonetheless. Anyone else?

Oh wow, it is all too early in the year to be thinking about November, isn't it?

And yet, the very day of December first I wanted the year to pass by so I could get to it sooner. I keep coming up with new ideas, each one better than the previous. I want to give myself more of a challenge though, 50k wasn't much once you actually hit it, and I think it would be a real rush to try and reach something like 75k, or heck even 100k (Though I'm not sure I can afford to loose that much sleep ;-) )

I won last year, with 10k to spare, coming out somewhere around 60k for a word count. Word count doesn't worry me. I'm thinking of possibly writing a memoir of sorts (though I'd have to research how to do a memoir, never been sure) on these past few traumatic months I've had, and sure enough the ones to come. I figure it will be a good way to think over it all, a good way to get it out, and a good way to give others a look in.

Anyone else being so wild as to think of their plots nearly nine months in advanced?

*waves hand wildly* I have!

I'm with you on trying for higher word counts, Claude- I've made it two years in a row. We need more danger.

I definitely need to set a higher goal this year, because once I hit 50k last time, I did almost no writing the rest of the month. It sucked. >_<

I haven't thought about what I want to do, though; I'm working on other stuff right now, stuff I want to get done before November, so I have to focus on that.

Hello!
I've considered it, but it sounds like a bit much.

While fifty thousand words may be a nice challenge, it seems like too much of a challenge. With school and homework alone, I'll be swamped.

50k does sound like a lot, but when you are in the middle of it, it's like nothing. Consider that two pages is roughly 1,000 words, If you can write about 3 pages a day, you'll pretty much be set.

Plus you get into the rush of things, you get excited and write more than you have planned. Heck, the first day I woke up at four in morning, so I had two free hours. I wrote 6k, or so. It was great. Then some days you write nothing, and make up for it later.

I definitely need to set a higher goal this year, because once I hit 50k last time, I did almost no writing the rest of the month. It sucked. >_<
We ever going to see this? ^_^

Oh and McMourning, the thing is, is yeah you have school and homework (I'm sure I had more at the time xD) but there are all these little moments, maybe 15 minutes, where you can write so much.

And by the end, if you get to 50k or not, it's still awesome.

I participated last year and had a blast. I would love to try again this year, but I'm gonna be in college and I am seriously doubting that I will have the time. That makes me sad...

*chokes* NaNoWriMo2k7???

I was hoping I wouldn't have to think about it until, you know, September or so. I've had a lame idea stuck in my head for a few years, but I've always come up with something different. I guess it depends on what I end up doing with Chronicles. I highly doubt I'll finish the first draft by then, but I'm thinking of planning a sequel, so I might attempt that for November. Hmm... I wonder if anyone has ever written the first draft of a sequel before finishing the first draft of the first book? Not like a prequel, but... you know. Nevermind.

50k is a fine number for me, lol. I barely made it last year between AP classes and band and struggling with getting through the breakup and all that. We'll see how it goes with college - I honestly don't know what to expect.

You know, I think I'm just going to send the whole load of crap to you. I haven't edited it or finished it, though, but I wasn't planning on doing any of that until next year. But then you'll stop harping at me. ;)

Clau is so right here. I think for me, I could usually write 1k in half an hour during NaNo. So I'd wake up an hour early and get my 2k done for the day most mornings! And then I'd write during my free time when I got home from school...all the writing adds up really quick. Plus, you never know until you try! :D

If I remember correctly, I had a nice speed going. I think I found that I could write 1,000 words in 15 minutes. So almost like word wars (which is a nice way to get ahead, fight your friends.) I would set my clock for 15 minutes and try to write as much as I could. *sigh* Yeah, I miss nanowrimo... I didn't care what I wrote then, I just wrote it. That's what is so awesome.

Crap is nice, I'd like to see it. [Mines in a wreck too, Rieda tells me its amazing and may even convince me to rewrite it X_X]

The novel I wrote for last NaNoWriMo was at least 90k. :) Similar to other claims, I say mine is crud. I've an idea of where I could go this November... actually I've got four. They all have something to do with my already-written novel. I'm having a terrible time deciding between them!

Still haven't participated in ANY NaNoWriMo due to the fact that my teachers are too busy shoveling homework on top of me.

I will if I actually have the time though.
