This new group of kids surprise me. No wonder Amelia was so set on taking a trip to Verna. She had already gone once this year; normally we don’t go twice. It’s starting to get dark, and I can feel the ghastly energy radiating off the forest. I shudder and cross my arms, goosebumps spreading across my pale skin.
Sometimes I feel as though I’m still in Verna, it’s just nicer and we get a /tiny/ bit more freedom. I’ve seen people come from Downtown Lucifer to deliver bread and what-not—yet every time they step foot inside they never stay long. I’ve always wondered what it was like to talk to people who get to live a normal life. They always seem frightened when they arrive.
I’ve read a lot throughout the centuries, and educated myself as so. I pride myself in my ability to discipline myself. Some of these new kids have a lot of learning to do—just as I did when I first started.
There’s really only one big rule here: Don’t piss of Amelia.
Her powers are just… unfair in every way. How could you dull me? How could you take the reigns you have on me and use them to your advantage?
As Jared finishes announcing the room assignments, I glance at the hallway that leads to my room. I’m never allowed to room with anyone, they feel that if I conspire we might actually have a chance of making it out of here. Even then, what would we do? Hide until she finds us?
